Android 4.2.2 but we don't know with which version of sense, if 5 or 5+...

Umh, i'm doubtful.
Google hasn't present android 4.3 yet and nexus will receive it for first...
Yeah I'm thinking we may get 4.2 with just sense 5 and when Google announces 4.3 we will get it about a month after. Good thing about the HTC ONE is that HTC has so much riding on it that they have to update it, lucky for us !!!!

Yea, I'm gonna say no shot! I'd be shocked if we got 4.3 within 4 months of it's release.

oh man..i just cant believe that official ICS update rolling out over the Nexus S which was released in the end of 2010.....and what about our Incredible S!!! Sincerely I think sense 3.5 is better than sense 3.0 but the official update from HTC was only sense 3.0..anyway, the OTA update has not released yet for Asia region...

isn't it obvious why the nexus s got the ics update? it's a NEXUS i.e. google phone.
Yup, but Nexus S is an old phone..I just cant understand why they still update it.

isn't that obvious ? Nexus S is google phone, surely it will get huge support from google itself, plus Nexus S wasn't really an old phone..

officially ? I don't think so.
u guys have to understand, if htc updates old phones with ICS, then the newer ones wont sell coz consumers only wanted android 4.0, not dualcore gimmicks or whatever garbage.
it's all about marketing.

People don't want ICS only, they want a phone that is good too. Those who can afford a Sensation will buy it and those who can't will go for something cheaper.Sony Ericsson is doing a great thing by updating all their 2011 devices, If HTC had done the same then their Q4 market share might not have fallen.
and dual core is not a gimmick, Google's poor OS optimization needs dual cores.

Is anyone else kind of annoyed about these other phones that are skipping 4.2.2 and going straight to 4.3? I know there won't be any major differences but I feel like we bought the latest and greatest but are getting shafted. Maybe I'm being anal, I just find it hard to believe they will update us to 4.2.2 and then 6 months later send another out for 4.3. Maybe I'm wrong. Thoughts anyone?

You think so? I sure hope not. My retired evo is still getting (unofficial) updates. Hope the fun continues for longer then just next year.
I'm sure we will see 4.2.2 soon and I'm hoping we also get 4.3. The phone should handle it right?

I haven't seen any phones that are getting 4.3 other than pure Android phones, which already have 4.2.2...
Everything is still speculation.
And c'mon guys, the One came out not too long ago and you're already annoyed about updates. Geez.

I'm happy with 4.1 and bought my one not expecting a lot of updates. I like the finesse Sense gives the phone that AOSP always lacks. That's just me, other people like AOSP and really it's the wrong phone for that

I care less about 4.2 or 4.3. They are so minor..android has hit a plateau and I'm satisfied. It is sad that development overall has been mastered to a point where nothing happens anymore haha.

Yeah sure. The HTC One S was also supposed to get 4.2.2 according to an insider, but then HTC out and said no.
The S3 was also supposed to get 4.2.2 by the middle of this month. Well we didn't.
It's all rumors and stories until it actually happens.

I really really like sense 5, I keep wanting to go to AOSP based Rom, but when I do I always End up missing certain things about sense, which is really weird cause I hated sense on my 3vo, and the more I think about it it's not a huge deal just wanted other people's opinion. And I suppose if I really wanted updates I could have gone with a nexus instead
Sent from my HTCONE using xda premium
Like what was mentioned before, the new androids aren't too different. I mainly want the upgrade so we can get ports for all those roms that the GSM version has. Apparently that's the only thing stopping us...the lack of a CDMA 4.2 kernel

This is what I don't understand... If Apple can release updates bypassing carriers... Why can't Google? I'm asking this regarding SPRINT because Sprint dossnt force bloat. All their apps can be found on playstore except VVM, but I'm sure Sprint can just somehow get It to us

It's not the same thing. iOS is dominated by one manufacturer while in Android there are multiple manufactures involved.

As bad as I am telling myself not to jump on this I will say that this device gets it after the One Max which I will be thinking the Max gets it by NY and then we will be very shortly after that.
Don't you think it'll be better if they give out candy for Halloween? SO WE WON'T PLAY TRICK with them!!!!!
I've found that HTC usually gives its flagship devices at least two updates so it will likely get kit kat. Christmas is pretty early though but who knows. I thought the Sprint One would never receive an update at all.

Why would you think that? Sprint is actually good at getting updates pushed out. They have to be good at something.
I'm thinking shortly after new years is pretty reasonable too.

With the state that HTC is in it would make sense for them to push out kitkat as soon as they could.

AP is usually pretty accurate. Dates are always subject to change based on carrier, but the current target date for Sprint S4 4.3 update appears to be 10/30
Edit: according to the article, the Verizon update was expected to be released today, and it did - http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/1...now-lists-android-4-3-ota-update-i545vruemj7/
2 days to go for 10/30 - woohoo!
Edit 2: http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/1...sprints-galaxy-s4-is-ready-right-on-schedule/
Now, waiting for "I got it" threads, and for "4.3 flashable, rooted available here"
I'm looking forward to a TW rom with 4.3, but I'm really wanting the AOSP 4.4 Rom
What's new for 4.4? I'm mostly looking forward to 4.3 to utilize the NotificationListener service.

Only if smart ones would try to flash international leaks on Sprint or flash unrooted on a rooted phone.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
Seems like with this phone, by the time the full tar.md5 is discovered, there's already a flash for root and hotspot. The hard part is to find the strength to wait past the update zip and tar and go for the full flash. With this phone, and decades of pc updates with Windows, the best and most thorough experience is had with waiting for the full flash, not update, to surface. Yes the updates work but my opinion is held that a full install is better than just a patch update. Your mileage may vary.

It has only been "announced" in the sense that Google revealed the name and version number in an online post. They haven't actually held a traditional announcement in which they give release info and go over the new features that are included. We don't know when it's coming out or what all it includes yet.

Sammobile listing leaked 4.3 builds for AT&T phones. Sounds like they have kept a tight grip on the 4.3 release. I would have expected at least one early release to be leaked before the OTA is available.
I wouldn't be too happy about an update given that there is basically a 100% chance that it will include a Knox-equipped bootloader.

Hi im not sure if this has been asked before or not, but i just wanted to know if it is possible to run a different launcher or UI on the HTC One? I am trying to make the decision to buy one after too many faulty Nexus 5's. What i would find ideal is to have the HTC One running Android KitKat 4.4.2 with Nova Launcher, is this possible? Also what are some of the best custom kernels one would recommend, i am used to Dev's like Franco & Faux, anything out there as good if not better for the HTC One??
Thanks in advance
Yes you can use any launcher you want. AFAIK the sense widgets won't work with them though

Not long at all if your installing ROMS. We don't usually wait as long as non root users so for updates. That's why I don't usually bother with update times when picking an android device because I'll always be a root user and get updates before everybody else.
