Hi Guys,
I am planning to buy the Nexus 7. My friend will buy it from US, activate it so that I will get the free credit and sent it over to me in India.
I understand I wont be able to use Movies, Books etc.
But will I be able to use the free credit to buy apps in India?????
Depends on the copyright the application creators allow. In most cases, yes.
Ok I will clarify a little more. I am not asking about any region limited apps. Will I be able to use the credit to buy apps in Indian play store? Or is the free credit valid within US only?
Thanks

I was in Canada when I bought my Nexus 7, and travelled to the US. While there, I did buy some apps, though I was not allowed to use their Magazines and Music store. It knew I was Canadian, but gave me access to apps on the American store (like NBC Olympics). You'd probably have similar luck.
And it's a great tablet anyway, even without the Play Store credit. Don't be disappointed if it doesn't work.
Though I wonder if MarketEnabler would get it to work if it doesn't. I'm just confident that you'll be fine.

I don't think using the credit is a problem rather getting a credit is a problem as Google would require a US credit carded added in your wallet account before you activate your free credit.

I got that one covered. My friend would buy it activate using my Id and his card and then sent it over to me.
Another doubt. Can I still use the credit even after the card which was used to activate the device is removed from my wallet account?
Sent from my Optimus 2X using xda app-developers app
yes i've done exactly that, i used my brothers credit card details to get the free credit and then deleted his card from my payment options.. still have the 25 dollars play store credit.. its there like its own gift voucher card

Yes, no problem with that.
A different method to get the credit!
Well I tried another method of getting Play store credit. Using this method I was able to achieve it all. And I find that this connects with VPN with more speed rather than configuring using on device VPN connection.
I did following to get the $25 credit plus Google Movies, Music, Wallet, Books and Magzines too
1. Download Spotflux and install it. (a Free and best VPN solution)
2. Download Connectify and install it.
3. Share Spotflux connection using Connectify
4. Rest your Nexus 7 tablet
5. Connect using the newly created WiFi hotspot
6. Just proceed with the steps. After completion you will receive $25 credit
All these steps in detail and with screenshots are also available on my blog post http://www.abtevrythng.com/2012/09/how-to-get-25-credit-in-play-store-with.html
Hi , I was messing about with the Google music app tonight and it seems to be letting me upload music and listen to it on my nexus 7.
I stay in the UK and I know it was meant to released soon but thought I would let you guys know it seems available now.
Apologies if this is old news.

What about the music recognition? Does it upload the songs or does it recognize them?

Where did you download the app from, the play store? I am using it with an account set up via a proxy. Wondering if I'll have to do anything once its official in the UK.

I think you only need the proxy to sign up - that's what I did.
Once you have done that you can login and upload and download from any IP.
Thanks,

Ah yes, thats what I did also and use it on my phone without any problem, works really well and looking forward to having it on the Nexus also.
So the setup still needs to be done via VPN?
But then you can use it as and when you please?
PS - If I signup, can I download Google Music onto another device (HOX) and link both devices? To share music etc
Thanks for info !

Of course you can, I've been using Google Music on both my N7 and phone, but I'm curious how we can transfer our musics and account to UK's server when its opened?

@Savalangh - wondering exactly the same thing, dont think I've even uploaded a 1000 songs yet, but would be a major pain having to sit and re-upload from scratch if we had to. Hopefully we just can continue using as is. :fingers-crossed:
I set up Google Music using a Proxy and have been using it for months.
It recently got released OFFICIALLY in the UK and haven't had any problems i.e. I haven't had to re-upload my music or anything else. I believe it's tied to your google account so regardless of where you're using it, it shouldn't make a difference once you're signed up!

We're sorry. The Google Play music player is currently only available in the United States.
Sorry for it not being more helpful, I went on play.Google.com , logged in on my laptop , went to /music and downloaded music manager , then it allowed me to start uploading my music which then appeared on my nexus 7 and allowed me no stream it. No proxy or vpn.

Call Orange
All you have to do is call Orange Customer Service and they will send you the code.
Last time I did it, it cost me £15 payable on my next bill (if you are on pay monthly).
They can't say no to your request as they don't own the phone. Actually, the didn't ask me any questions, they just did it.
Hope that helps :good:

Wow, you were lucky. I purchased a second hand Orange locked phone and because it didn't come with its original SIM Orange couldn't/wouldn't unlock it. They said it needed an Orange SIM in for them to see it to unlock, the IMEI alone wasn't enough. And, if they could have done it, they would have apparently charged £30. Advised me to go to one of those little high street shops to have it done.
Orange customer service (a misnomer) sucks, by the way. I've dealt with them before with a similar experience. Rant over.
It's now £20.50! For the unlock!!!

Go into the service menu *#*#7378423#*#*
Service info
SIM lock
If there's [x] next to network, it's locked. The number after it is the amount of unlock attempts remaining.
However, if the phone came from Orange, you will be able to use it on T-Mobile and EE without needing to unlock it.

Well, Canada getting anything is quite groundbreaking! Thats what this is all about.
Theres no Radio on my google music... maybe I didnt get update?
Welcome to Canada!
I'm glad a post was made announcing Google Music's availability in Canada, perhaps a new thread dedicated to services actually available to Canadians should be started, for example Amazon app store is finally available to us Canadians (Free app of the Day):victory:
For those who don't care I understand, but many many services are delayed or blocked for us up here so having a resource or post letting us now about one finally getting loose up here is great!

This is how it happened. I accessed the Play Store, and went to Music. It was there that I found music for sale! I immediately bought the new pearl jam cd. I now believe that it was this purchase that brought about the changes to Google music on my phone.
I am running v5.2.1224L.847622
The only thing of note is that in my Google wallet settings, I have a visa for purchases. The address for it is in the U.S..

Grand Central, the company Google purchased and transformed into Google Voice, offered Canadian numbers.
Plus there are several talk/text applications that offer Canadian numbers like Fongo.
Don't know, but I'll take your word for it. Perhaps it's size - smaller player's get away with it, while bigger companies play by the rules? I'm sure if they could Google would go for it - it's in their interest to do so.

you have to add a credit card to subscribe to music unlimited, period. it will use the money on your psn account until it's gone and then start booking money from your credit card. good thing is, you can change that behavior in the account settings, telling it to not use the credit card. the service will just be deactivated when your account is empty.
p.s.: i'm pretty much frustrated by the service and its integration in the walkman app. it all seems half baked and some things are just plain stupid. what do you guys think?
