I'm very new with android and I should of checked the software update before unlocking bootloader but I was excited to get everything set up.
Can someone please give me a step by step direction on Installing the OTA update after unlocking the bootloader? I relocked it, and when trying to install the update, it still boots into "bootloader"

After hours of searching I finally did an OTA update.
My CID is T-MOB101 and I was on ver 1.28.111.6 so this may not work for everybody but it may get you in the right direction.
Here's an collection of HTC M7 RUU, OTA, and Stock Nandroid Downloads. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39588860
The only one available for my phone was (M7 CWM Nandroid Backup / CID T-MOB101 / 1.28.111.6)
So I clicked that then on the download page there is a forum support page link in the bottom right with instructions on how to install. It's in german so you may have to translate. Translated.
Then follow steps 1-8, Reboot, sign in to google, and download your software update.

Hi,
I have Vodafone UK's HTC ONE, and it's on 1.28.161.7 version.
I want to have the global stock version, 1.28.401.7, and get OTA updates.
My One is rooted with CWM Touch Recovery, Bootloader Unlocked.
I have read a lot on the Dev forums but only thing I found is how to go back to stock, and I need a DIFFERENT STOCK ROM.
Can you please help me ?
I have the stock odexed ROM + Stock recovery zip files, and the complete all-in-one Toolkit, so just guide me the steps
Thanks in advance !

No you won't as it's a rooted phone. You'll need S-OFF and the stock RUU to debrand the phone (neither of which are available yet AFAIK)

Hi EddyOS, long time no speak, not since I moved here from the HOX forums!
Wouldn't flashing ARHD debrand the handset, it'd just mean he can't get OTAs?
You on a Nexus 4 now then?

First, Thanks again !
So if I understand it right, I will need to go through this process:
1) Unroot
2) Re-lock bootloader
3) Flash stock recovery
4) Flash stock RUU (from the toolkit ??)
and that's it ? will I need to flash the ODEXED stock ROM from this thread ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224752
And last one for now: If I'll take a Nandroid backup of CWM and unbranded HTC, will it work ?
I mean this one: "M7 CWM Nandroid Backup / CID HTC__001 / 1.28.401.7"
Sorry for all those questions - I have never tried to go back to stock or unbrand my device..
Thanks !

Unfortunately that wouldnt work. Your phone will have a branded CID. The OTA update checks the phone for this. So it would see yours isnt HTC_001 and it would fail. You need to wait until S-Off has been found for this phone.

As soon as an OTA is out Mike updates ARHD anyway so he could just flash the new ROM, until S-Off it's the only way of doing it really.
Hopefully S-Off isn't too far away...
Hello, I have HTC One Intl (see my signature) on everything stock. Phone is S-off and rooted. Yesterday I had seen 4.3 OTA notification, downloaded it and tried to install, but installation failed in recovery (red triangle with exclamation). I've tried it several times, but no luck - phone reboots to recovery, installation process begins and fails at ~30 per cent.
Help me find out, why it happens (maybe i can find installation log somewhere, but don't know where to search) and how to install this update.
You need:
- Stock Recovery
- Stock rom without root
- Locked/Relocked bootloader
After your phone can install the OTA.

Recovery is stock.
Can I use Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper to temporary unroot? At least it gives such possibility, don't know will it work or not.
Is locked/relocked bootloader obligatory? if yes, I will search how to relock it again.
Thanks.

Dont mean to intrude, but I'm pretty sure he can leave the bootloader unlocked, even root I think
He does need to have stock recovery, stock rom (including the preloaded apps that get deleted when unlocking), I think that's about it.

make sure the "preload" apps are for your version, mate!!
If you signature is correct: "ROM: Stock 2.24.401.8 (Android 4.2.2)" Maybe just best to use the Guru Reset ROM.
EDIT: I recommend full backup to PC first though, just in case!!

then you may just be missing the "preloaded" apps, here's an idea, why not dirty flash (ie no WIPE) the Guru Reset ROM: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_2-24-401-8-zip/
BTW: the reason I mentioned the backup to PC, is one time I flashed stock recovery (and accessed it), and i was unpleasantly surprised it wiped my internal storage.

Good luck, and if you do (and wanna help the rest of the community) can you try with both ROOT and unlocked bootloader first, and see if it works.
I know it's a bit of a hassle but at least you would be able to confirm if ROOT or unlocked bootloader are interfering with the update

I have unlocked it and I'm reasdy to flash a new recovery (recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.4-m7ul.img is this one is good?).
After rooting I want to restore stock recovery so after I can get OTA updates and use OTA root keeper.
Where can I get the stock recovery?
I'have searched htc one thread and I can only find stock recovery for Tmobile...
If anyone can enlight me?

what's your firmware version? you don't need to have 100% stock recovery, just "close enough" for OTAs to work, in case it's not very close, it may not reboot by itself during installation, and you'll have to manually reboot the phone for installation to continue.

I would like to install the AT&T OTA of 4.4.2 but have a custom recovery and am unable to upgrade. I am rooted with the stock 4.3 ROM and have the twrp recovery installed. I have S-ON. I've searched around trying to find a way to get this to work but can't seem to figure it out. I've tried looking around for an AT&T 4.3 stock recovery to try and flash it but can't seem to find one. The one from the Dev sticky page is not available for download. Can someone detail the steps I have to perform to get the 4.4.2 OTA from AT&T. Thanks in advance.
[SOLVED]
OK, problem fixed and 4.4.2 installed from OTA. I had relocked the bootloader on my phone so... start from scratch. Steps to resolve
1 - Unlock Bootloader
2 - Get S-Off on device (Makes everything easier). I used Firewater (http://firewater-soff.com)
3 - Flash the AT&T 3.17.502.3 (4.3) RUU from here (http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_...3_10-38j-1157-04_release_334235_signed_2-exe/). You may need a different one if not on AT&T
4 - Start phone, check for update. Let it download. Cake.
Now off to redo all the settings on my phone. Hope this helps someone else.

It doesn't give me an error. The OTA downloads, reboots and gets to a triangle with the green arrows inside and starts installing, then about 25% of the way it stops and goes to a red triangle. I'm thinking the MD5 to one of my files may be failing. I installed an edit to the framework sometime ago to get the hotspot working (that's the only change to the stock rom I've made). It doesn't really give me an error message though.
It could be the issue. You will need to choose one of the few options:
1. Restore a stock ATT OS for the same version you have (4.3) and update again
2. S-OFF (Preferred to avoid future messy bricks) and reinstall old ATT RUU and then upgrade all the way without custom rom/rooting/firmware changes
3. Wait for someone to post a custom rom install of the new ATT 4.4 update and install that.

It could be because I flashed the recovery that came with the OTA with fastboot and then after SaHiLzZ pointed me in the right direction was able to download the 4.3 recovery but flashed that one with flashify. I bet you the one I did with flashify didn't take. Funny thing is I also relocked my bootloader and now must unlock it again and that will probably wipe my device. What a mess, oh well, I hope that's all it is and at least I'm learning as I go.

The minute you flash the stock recovery you will lose root. The steps you describe is how to get the OTA. For the OTA you need stock recovery, stock rom and you may need some files in the /preload/ folder that were deleted when you unlocked your bootloader.

It would be better to use a Guru Reset if you want ota's. You can simply make a backup in custom recovery. Flash the reset zip and take ota updates when your all done reflash twrp recovery and restore your backup.
You need to see if there's a reset zip that matches your MID, CID and Version main. For it to work though. Look here http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/stock-rom-downloads/ or post your details if you need help to find the right one.
