Okay so I downloaded the app and all is well. The controller seems synced (it is in position 1, though not listed in bluetooth menu. I enable input on nesoid, but nothing happens... am I missing something stupid?

At some point I will make this more clear in the description, but to use the controller with the Droid x2, 3 and Bionic, you must enable 'Bypass IME' in preferences. As a bonus, this will also allow you to use a normal soft keyboard at the same time as the controller, as you will no longer need to switch the active IME.
bought this app last night after my post. got it up an running this morning. i'm a megaman junkie. took a little messing with to figure this out, but you just made my lunch breaks a fantastic part of my day. ))) !!!!

I think it's clear enough in the description, I suspect the op "downloaded" the v0.1 apk that's floating around the net.
Earl, I have a question about syncing. Once I sync the controller with the phone using the PC app, will I need to go through the process each time I use the controller on the PS3 afterwards, or is it like a bluetooth headset that I can switch back and forth between the PS3 and the phone based on which one has bluetooth on for pairing when I turn the controller on?
Is there a certain way I have to map the buttons? I have the IME option checked and my dpad seems to be working, but none of my other buttons like start, A, B work and Im assuming their mapped wrong but they are set to BUTTON START, BUTTON A etc dont know what Im doing wrong here
** Nevermind I figured it out. They have to be set to the hardware key mappings in the emulator its working good now
That IME thing got it working thanks guys!

The controller can only store a single master address, and will only ever talk to that master, so unfortunately you will need to use the PC tool to change the address back to the phone before use. In theory it should be possible to change your phones bluetooth address to match your PS3 using bdaddr or some other method, but I haven't done any research into that.
A long time ago, when stuff actually worked, I was able to slide my One into the HTC dock and it would enable the "Car Mode" state (NOT Car.apk, the stock garbage car app). With it, it would launch the apk associated with launching with Car Mode. This apk was set by the user if more than one car dock apps were installed (think opening a browser link from search, and it asks you if you want to use Chrome or Internet or Dolphin or Maxathon) which I had set to InDrive. So, I'd slide my dock in, and it would automatically launch InDrive, start playing music through bluetooth, and start Autoguard recording in the background.
But then they broke it. I believe it was 4.3 IIRC.
I'm now on 4.4.2 and it looks like they never returned the functionality to change what app gets launched when you slide it into the dock.
Purely, my question is: is there a way I can change the app that launches when I slide it into the dock? I'd like to get InDrive working again as that best suits my needs.
Some other info: There was a workaround which essentially re-enabled car-mode (and of course required root and a custom recovery image) but that wasn't even reliable, as it would only launch intermittently. I can't find this and doubt it works with 4.4.2.

I don't really use it but as i recall it was an NFC tag built into the car dock that made the phone react to it being inserted. have you messed with any NFC programing apps ?

It's not NFC
edit: To elaborate, there are docks that use NFC. This is not one of them. The HTC Dock uses what they call "SmartCable" for enabling car mode (which doesn't actually enable car mode it just launches their stupid proprietary garbage app.
Looks like the car mode apk that it launches isn't actually HTC's, it's google's?
Not a real question I want answered, this post is just intended to be a bump.

Hi,
I'm wondering if some of you KLD / KLG / MX / etc unit owners are using google voice commands. I can't use it properly on my unit, it crashes all the time. Sometimes it works, but usually it crashes. I'm using Malaysk rom. Is there anybody who can you use google voice without any problems? Or is there a simpel solution to fix my issues? I'm using a external mic connected with a jack to the backside of my unit.
I have spent a lot of time with this issue. My views are that the OEM version of the Google app is the only stable version(for voice use) for these HUs. My JY solution was to extract the Velvet.apk from the factory ROM. After updating to a Malsysk ROM, I replaced the pre updated apk back to the older factory version. You will lose out out on some updated features, but having a working voice command is nice tradeoff.

Phone calls? No. I believe this is a common issue, there is no phone hardware onboard. Though I'm not that familiar with that feature.
Email and other task could be handled with Autovoice if Google app can not. Again, not that familiar.
For me, the main missing feature was choice of navigation app. Nav questions will only launch GMaps, newer version can launch Waze or your nag app choice, by default.

If you have a phone connected via BT you can make phone calls using OK Google.

I've read some posts in the Malaysk ROM thread and many people have modded their units by opening them up and re-runing the internal mic. It's that mic, not the external, that is used for voice commands and apparently it is an unshielded wire that allows for a lot of interference and therefore unreliable google voice. I'm still foggy on the voice dialing but someone somewhere got this to work but not through the native bluetooth app. I think I read that they used the RK3066/Rk3188 app in the google play store or something...I'm just getting started with my unit and it's not even installed yet. Hopefully some of this was insightful for you.

I am using the latest Malaysk ROM dated 10th January 2016 for RK3188 1024*600. It lets me speak Ok Google and Call (contact name) to the phone when after pressing the call button. The way it works for me is:
1. Whatever is playing on the unit, it stops when I press the call button on my steering;
2. It launches the unit's dial screen;
3. I say 'OK Google', it launches the ok google listener on the phone;
4. I say 'Call (contact name)' and it calls.
Few things I had to manage before this started working was:
1. Enable the option to receive commands over bluetooth in Google Now settings in the phone;
2. Enable to XPOSED MTC in the XPOSED framework in the head unit;
3. Change the setting to integrate with phone's google now interface (something like that) in XPOSED MTC module.
Hope this helps.
Can you elaborate on this process please?

1. Enable the option to receive commands over bluetooth in Google Now settings in the phone;
Were can i find this option? I have a nexus 5 and i updated my google now, but there no option like that in google now. Or do you mean the option "bluetooth headset" under voice?
3. Change the setting to integrate with phone's google now interface (something like that) in XPOSED MTC module.
I can't find any options in Xposed MTC related to what you are writing. Are you sure this option is in Xposed MTC?
Thank you!!!

Hi there,
I to have been wondering about the best way to get voice dialling working and as my google voice crashes the HU more often than not, I think it is best to do this as shaiq123 has suggested by pressing the call button the steering wheel and then Ok Googling the phone to make the call.
But my phone goes to lock screen in the car and that stops this working. What I would like is that when my phone connects to the car bluetooth it
1) stops it going to lockscreen
2) activates wifi hotspot
3) activates 'ok google' if it is not normally activated
and it reverses on disconnecting.
Is this something easily done or do I need some kind of app to do this?
A final thing that would be helpful, is that it would be useful to give the play music command to direct the HU to play music from an HU attached SD card rather than the phone memory. Is there a way to also configure that (i.e. that the command would seek music stored on HU rather than phone first?)
Cheers

You could achieve the first part using Tasker, you would just create a profile to run your tasks that actives when your phone connects to the headunit. Its a great app for automating stuff like that.

Thanks - in fact this morning I have downloaded the trial for Tasker as well as Automate to see if they can do what I am looking for.
I've decided what would be really helpful would be if I could
1) Use app to detect when phone connects to car HU via bluetooth
2) Launch Wifi Hotspot
3) set the camera button to unlock screen and activate google voice
Now 1&2 look like its not too difficult and may even be doable using the Sony Smart Connect app (on a Z2, not rooted).
3 doesn't seem to be as instantly obvious. In tasker, I put in a new profile>event>hardware>button camera, also selected non beginner settings so could pit priority to highest and activate stop event, then put the task as launch voice search app - but it just keeps doing the camera?

Create a new Profile>State>Net>BT Connected then click the magnifying glass next to name and select the name of your headunit. This will mean whenever your bluetooth is connected to the headunit it will run the tasks associated with it. It will give you the option to name and create a task once you create your profile then create new>Net>WiFi Tether and set to On.
I have a Z2 as well and just tried the camera button as a profile and it didn't work for me either, you'll need to do some googling on that, not sure why it doesnt work. It's best to set a flash (Alert>Flash) in your task as a test to see if your task runs but I'm sure you need to need to have root to unlock the screen.

Thanks for this - and yes this where I had got to (which make me feel better!). And I too think the camera button may not be workable without root.
I think I need to change my plans and see if I can prevent the lockscreen to come on when connected to this bluetooth device. That way I can fall back to using ok google as the lockscreen prevents ok google from completing requests.
Okay - think I've done that and it was easy enough, now have a profile which when connected to HU through bluetooth does (1) set off wifi tether and (2) Set keyguard off. Then with (3) double tap to wake screen and (4) Ok google should be able to do what I need it to.
Last thing I'm wondering if you could do is to create a large voice dial icon (double normal size etc) on screen (in case initial ok google doesn't work)...
I am using new galaxy s8 .
When I am using multi windows on screen, after opening 2nd windows 1st one goes on sleep/pause mode. If I try to keep 1st one awake 2nd one goes on sleep mode.
How can I keep both of them working at the same time?
For example:If I keep YouTube on 1st window and play something and work on second window video is playing perfectly. Same one galley but if I keep the navigation on 1st window and on second window do something else navigation is not working goes on pause. I tried on waze or other software they are remaining pause....
Same situation with my s7 edge. I wanted to test the accuracy of Google map and waze in multi window and one would stop when the other one would work. Trying to find a fix.
Sent from my SM-G935T using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I could see why map and waze wouldn't work at the same time, since both use GPS and for accuracy active mapping program should have full access to GPS. Not sure about other program combinations.

Wrong. Multiple apps using the same GPS is not an issue here.
The issue here is probably how the apps is written to handle the onPause() handler.
See here for more detail: https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/ui/multi-window.html#lifecycle I am using MX Player + Waze and see the same behavior. But if you look carefully, the screen of waze is not completely stop. The speed meter is in fact updated to your current speed.
So, write to Waze and they may fix it.
So is there no other way to fix this? I would like to play 2 games at the same time in my phone but this issue prevents me from doing so. Im sure that other phones that supports split screen do not have this issue. So maybe this is something on the Samsung S8 side already?

I have a 2016 Mazda CX-5. It has a touch screen if you use it in the default way (touch only when the car is stopped, otherwise the knob selector must be used). But immediately after you connect an Android Auto, it disables the touch screen even if the car is stopped. This isn't very pleasant because many functions are much faster with using a touch screen (entering an address for example). I'm talking about when a car doesn't move.
AFAIK, Mazda made this decision because Android Auto doesn't allow BOTH the touch screen and physical controls (knob selector) to work. They decide on physical controls and the touch screen is then disabled.
Do some of you guys have any idea if this (theoretically) can be overridden? Is this the reason why Coolwalk (beta) doesn't work on cars with knob selectors (Mazda, BMW, Audi ...)?
Is this limitation coded in Mazda's infotainment firmware?
I have the same car. The default Mazda entertainment software with original USB hub allowed touchscreen with hacked Android Auto tips from Mazda forums. But when I decided to use my iphone with the car which interface much more useful and beautiful, the tech guy upgrade the software on the car & replace the hub, then Android Auto disable the touchscreen. I try several times but the ugly interface and the dead touchscreen force me to prefer Apple Carplay. Even the latest beta AA cannot use touchscreen.
Tnx.
AFAIK, the touch screen is disabled only on Android Auto? Can you confirm that the touch screen works while using Apple CarPlay?
I've got a mazda 3 2018, I've installed AA with MZDAIO. As it was possible in the tweak to remove this restriction, i've done it, so the touch screen always work. But still, I never use it.
Honestly, learn to play with the knob. Except for the keyboard, I love controling AA with the center knob, bottons do exactly what they are supposed to, no missclick while driving, easy and fast to control. Bonus point, the screen stay clean loll
When I need the keyboard, I use my cellphone anyway.
I think with AAWireless there is an option to remove this restriction too.
Tnx.
You are right. MZDAIO is a firmware for infotainment and it can remove this restriction.
I have the official firmware (MDZAIO installation is more complex with the latest version of official firmware) and looking for a solution there.
Don't get me wrong - I also love the knob and Mazda really made a great job there. But when using Android Auto, many actions are slower and inconvenient.
I'm using Carsifi (AA Wireless competitor) and it can't remove this restriction. Can someone confirm that AA Wireless can remove it?

You can see the option in the print screen
Tnx, but I don't understand (I tried with a dictionary to translate at least some words).
In your opinion, which option can disable touch screen restriction?
I know that there are Android Auto limitations on how many touches/clicks are allowed. Maybe you have this on your mind?

Tnx, now I understand what is on your phone's screen
The option "Remove tap restriction" (probably) removes Google's restriction for "too much clicking/touching on the screen". What I want is to enable a touch screen. It is disabled on Mazda's infotainment when Android Auto is connected.
hix same problem. native AA on Mazde can't touch. need use custom AA install by Mazda AIO but it' not stable.
but i upgrade fw to 74+, AIO Tweak not compatible. i think should be familiar with the knob
I too have a hard time using apps with that stupid knob. Some functions are slow using knob, that I can still tolerate. However, some function just must use touch. For eg, when using Waze, sometimes I need to scroll the map to see my route. There is no way to do this with knob other than to zoom in/out. I just want to move the map at the zoom level I am at.
AIO is also not an option. I need to buy special connector to get it working and it's quite complicated.
Why can't Mazda just allow touch!??!
i connected to mazda connect SSH. can edit android auto source code to active touch?
I am the same, the central control is very comfortable but there are some options of applications that would be easier to use the touch ... hopefully someone finds the solution
