Bluetooth Headset SBH20 or MW600? - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all.
I was looking for a bluetooth headset and found that 2 headsets:
SBH20 and MW600.
Both are very similar and the MW600 is US$10 cheaper.
is there any relevant differences between them?
thanks in advance.

Yes, in the terms of sound,
And also,sbh20 is more fashionable than mw6000
sent from my white xperia z

SBH20 comes with bluetooth core version 3.0, so it probably will provide a better battery management than MW600s (bluettooth core ver 2.0). But SBH20 doesnt have display screen. I vote for SBH20.

Does SBH20 support radio like MW600 or Smart Wireless Headset pro? I didn't see any key for radio so can radio app on mobile phone play sound through SBH20?

You can only use FM on phone through SBH20 cos it doesn't have display screen so you won't know which band you are hearing.

I decided to buy mw600 because it have Fm, screen and quality sound is better than sbh20.

The xz have fm radio already so it's not a big point for mw600.
The difference in battery drain from BT 2 to 3 is noticeable?
If yes I'll get the sbh20 if not the mw600. Thanks

I don't have MW600 or SBH20 to test. But, I'm currently using MW1. It last nearly 9h listenning to music before the battery's low. So I think bt 3.0 is better and draining battery between bt 2.0 and 3.0 is noticeable.

Yes it is a big point. They put radio on MW600 because you can't listen radio on phone through them. I don't know if you can listen radio on phone through SBH20. But i odered them and i will let you know when they arrive.

Oh, i see.
The anthena is in the phones...
I found the SBH20 manual:
http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/sbh20/userguide_EN_SBH20_1271-8369.1.pdf
It doesn't say anything about radio...
i'll search more about it :x

I have the sbh20, and i cannot use the radio on the phone with them. It says that i must connect the wired headphones as the wire is used as the antenna.

I think i must go with the mw600 then =/

Just wait until SBH-50 is released. Sony will sell SBH50 soon so be patient better design, oled display, FM supported.

Because it doesn't support radio. I bought it yesterday and it is only for music. And button Play/Pause/Call doesn't work. I don't know why.

Now all buttons on SBH-20 works. I don't know how but Play/Pause/Call button works now. SBH-20 has good sound, not the best I have heared. I think they worth 40$ in Croatia. Minus is that they don't have radio. But SBH-50 will come with radio. If you want radio wait for SBH-50.

The problem is when it'll be released...
i actualy dont listen that much of music, even less radio. Is just not to open the flap
i'll wait another month to SBH-50 anyway. Thanks!

I use my MW600 since Xperia Arc=>Xperia T and at last Xperia Z.
Mostly music on the way about 3 hours per day. Also about 1, 1:30 hour as conversation.
I dont shutdown headset, still i can use MW600 nearly 2days.
Only one think that i miss, vibrating.
When i receive a call, mostly missing that, if i dont plug the headset on my ears in the office.

i ordered SBH20 and will receive it within a couple of days
i will give a little feedback here if you want to know more about it

Bluetooth handsfree. What do you use?

I am getting insanely busy with work and I am considering getting a bluetooth earpiece. I have always been against them as I find they look plain stupid on people but I guess wearing one in the office wouldnt be so bad.
Heres the thing. If I am going to wear a headset. I would want one I can use with my nexus S and my computer (which runs a mix of google talk and Skype)
Is there any that you reccomend could do this or am I dreaming?
I was looking at the Jawbone line of units but wow are they ever pricy!

I'm assuming you're talking about the headphones? I've been using some cheap Skull Candy HPs for the longest time with no issues. I got the phone used so all I got was a charger. Haha. Can't say I've ever heard of the problem you're having though.

Bose is over priced, skull candy is worth only if u live in us. But IMO their sound quality isn't very remarkable, skull candy is notorious for its bass which sounds terrible.
If u are looking for Sth cheap while neutral sounding, u could go for the westones um2 series. Or St cheaper... the ultimatears200. Or if u dont wana pay convince some one to pas u their Sony ericsons in ears, they are pretty decent hahas. For ear buds, apple ones are decent.

Headphones
Hey friends,
I read all your replies for this post. It seems like all are telling about headphones without mic.
Unfortunately my original headphone which I got with Nexus S is not working properly.
So please suggest me from where can I get the original samsung headphones or is there any adapter with mic with which I can connect to any other headset. Presently I am staying in UAE.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Vinu

Didn't see it in the picture, it's hidden well then. The headset looks nice the only downside was no mic, but since it has one, it may be one I order.
Se mw600 ftw
I have the Sony MW600 as well and it is indeed nice, especially since you can use any IEMs with it.
Lately I have been mulling over the upgrade to the newly released MW1 but there seems to be compatibility issues with the microSD slot built into it.

LG Tone HBS-700
My favorite headset and I think I tried them all. Awesome battery life (10+ hours music playback), comfortable wear, hardware on/off, standard micro USB charging, vibrating call indicator, quality microphone, it beats all the other headphones I have. Currently $47 on Amazon.
I found the MW600 unusable because of its incomprehensible user interface, tiny controls that are easy to hit by mistake, fragile clip, unreadable display.
I also have a Motorola Sports and a Plantronics 603 which seem to share the same electronics and the same flaw: they sometimes refuse to power on even though fully charged, and sometimes lose their charge even when plugged in. To me that makes them completely useless if I can't count on them being ready when I need them.
Most others, like the Jabra Clipper, would almost be perfect if it weren't for their lousy battery life (5h playback on a good day).
The LG Tone could only be improved by making the earbuds interchangeable.
Yup, The best one. I already ordered one. The white version looks beautiful too.

Does your LG HBS-700 work with your Nexus 7?
Mine pairs, but when I try to play spotify, plex, etc., I don't get sound.
I have an og Evo 4G and when I run Jelly Bean based ROMs, the headset works for phone calls, but not for spotify, music, or anything other media.
I'm beginning to wonder if it is a compatibility issue with Jelly Bean.
Otherwise, I'm a big fan of the headset.

Get the LG Tone+ HBS-730, search on amazon (I can't post links yet.). I have the first generation of the LG Tone HBS-700 the sound quality is alright if you aren't an audiophile. I've read that the sound quality is better in the 730s. The style of these make them perfect to wear under a collared shirt. I use them everyday and get about 3-5 days worth of listening between charges. The headset even vibrates when you get a call.
I have the Sony MW600. LINK. I love them. The majority of the time I only want to keep one ear bud in, and with these I can do that. You can also use any kind of headphones with them.
I had the Plantronics BB903+'s. I thought their sound quality was really good, and I was all excited to use them with my phone when I go mountain biking. I got so insanely frustrated with the sound cutting out every now and then that I stopped using them. A day later, my dog ate them. Eh, whatever. :good:
As I read around through reviews of other comparable bluetooth headsets I can't help but to question that perhaps audio skipping is somewhat common. As a result, I've personally chosen to stick to traditional headphones. That being said, I'm super curious if anybody has experience with bluetooth headphones that DON'T cut out at all. Eh?
i love my jaybird freedoms. the only thing that is even remotely annoying about them is they charge with a mini usb, other than that, they're light, have great sound and super comfortable. before that i tried a pair of moto ones that were just an all 'round unpleasant experience.
Thanks for suggestions guys, will mull it over

I have both of those units. The trade off is; HBS-700 ok sound, but long BT range (25ft) vs. HBS-730 better sound, but short BT range (10ft).
Sony Ericsson MW600 user here as well. I love that lil sucker. I use my Shure SE215's (clear) and any headsets I can muster like my Sol Republic Amps HD or Sol Republic Ultra's or whatever you have and like. I mean the sound is not like it is when plugged directly in, but sound better than stock nonetheless.

I was looking at those but they were a bit out of my price range
I got my MM 100's in today, and I'm impressed. Very clear audio for something this size, as expected from Sennheiser. They feel a bit cheap but I think that's more in the interest of making them light rather than saving money. I don't think they're worth the retail price ($150 ), but I got mine factory refurbished from a seller on amazon for around $40 and they came looking brand new, in refurb packaging of course.
Since I paired these with my phone first I tried call quality, and nobody had any issues understanding me.
EDIT: After some more listening it seems these headphones are lacking in bass... not that there isn't enough volume, but it is literally cutting out frequencies.
I hava nokia bh214 stereo bluetooth ,it's perfect for music & talk
I use the Sony Ericsson MW600, great batterytime, you can use whatever headphones you want and now it's almost for free.
Bought the Sony WS1, little on the expensive side but have alot of functions, same as the MW600 you can use other headphones but the ones that comes with are exellent, SD-slot only drawback is the batterytime...
I use a set of Motorola SF600's and a Plantronics M155 (for single ear A2DP goodness while hiking).
My thoughts on the SF600 are far different than moth peoples, apparently. I love them. I have had zero issues with them, and I am tough on them. They sound PHENOMENAL and the range is incredible. They also support Apt-X, but since the Nexus 7 doesn't, that isn't really a concern. Apt-X is awesome though.
The Plantronics is... OK. It rattles at high volume, and is generally annoying, but its great for the group hikes I go on (for when I am tired of hearing people whine and blabber on ) and it is really good for listening to music in the office.

The reviews that I read about the 730's were that they were a downgrade. Owners of the 700 and the 730 said to not get the 730.
They also said that more than 5' away or loss of line of sight caused the 730s to drop out.
