Borked my One...need some help - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Flashed AndroidRevolution 8.0 tonight and without restarting, I also flashed the latest BulletProof 1.7.1 kernel. Now my phone will not reboot...stuck at the HTC screen. I can hold the power button down and restart in to the bootloader, but when I try to start recovery (CWM Touch), the Clockwork insignia flashes like it's getting ready to start, but then right back to the HTC screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
When installing AR, I did choose the International version vs. the ATT version (which I have) is that makes a difference. I read where choosing the international version would perhaps fix some wifi issues I was running in to.
Thanks in advance.
Alan

no thats not the reason its the recovery when you do a factory reset it happens sometimes.
what you need to do is download the all in one tookit open it hard reset you phone into bootloader. in the toolkit select erase cache. it will say 2 windows will pop up close the first one. if the second one says waiting for device press the power button and it should start. once it finishes close the window and select install recovery. select the recovery of your choice and do the same thing you did for cache. when it finishes close window and select reboot recovery

Hey Alan ... I faced a similar situation when i tried to flash ARHD ... I fixed it by going into fastboot mode on the phone ... then sending "fastboot erase cache" ... Then re-installing CWM recovery to the phone ... I was then able to restore from a nandroid backup on the phone ... tried to install ARHD 8.0 again and let the phone restart and success
Hope this is help to you.
Brett

What he said it works great I have had the same thing happen and doing just what skins said fixed me right up !! Goodluck !

Hey guys...really really appreciate the help...that fixed her right up. Installing ROM again now!! Seriously, thanks for taking the time to help me out. I was not looking forward to sitting in front of my computer half the night fiddling with this phone...lol

Glad to hear it worked for you !! I painced when it happened to me to but all was good after following the steps !

Ran into the same issue. Kudos to skin.

[Q] Lost Recovery Mode

I'm on a Sprint Hero. I used the universal one-click to root. Titanium Backup to restore my apps after flash. Clockwork's ROM manager for the rest.
Two days ago I decided to flash my first ROM, CM6. When I flashed I got a little carried away, flashed the ROM, gaaps, sprints vvm, the mms fix, and a stable uncapped kernel all at once. Bottom line, it wasn't running quite like I had hoped and I was running out of spare time. Flashed my nandroid backup and was good to go. Everything restored like it was before I started.
Yesterday I found some time and decided to try flasing CM6 again. This time starting slower, with just the cm6 and gapps. Then everything else as needed.
Here's the problem; I can't get to recovery mode. I've tried the "Reboot into Recovery" from the ROM manager. I've tried the power down, power up w/ home key held down. I've tried power up with volume down key then choose recovery mode. I've tried installing rom from sd (this gets me to the point that says it is sending me to recovery to finish installing).
I get three different results, and they seem to apply themselves randomly to my reboots. First, I get hung on the white HTC screen. Second, I get the white HTC screen, the phone gives a vibrate and the screen goes off. Third, I get the white HTC screen, the phone gives a vibrate, it reboots back through the HTC screen and starts up like nothing happened. For the first two, the only way to get the phone back is a battery pull.
I have rerooted with the one-click. Still no luck.
I can restore my original nandroid backup through ROM manager.
I can flash clockworkmod recovery. It is current at 2.5.0.1
Could someone please help me find my recovery mode.
Thank you.
Peace.
Have u just tried holding down power and home it takes like 20 seconds just keep holding them it should pop up and if you hold power down and volume down wen the screen pops up just hit home button and wait it should popup hope this helps good luck
Root-Hack-Mod-Always™
I have tried both. I have also tried getting to recovery through Clockwork's ROM manager.
Every time my phone tries to get into recovery mode it gets stuck. When I say it gets stuck, I mean one of three things happen. First, the phone hangs on the white HTC screen. Two, the phone gets past the HTC screen, the screen shuts off, and the phone becomes completely unresponsive (when this happens I need to pull the battery to get it back on). Three, the phone gets past the HTC screen, reboots itself and boots right up to the stock sprint ROM(it ignores my request to get to recovery mode).
This morning I tried something new, but still failed. I uninstalled Clockwork's ROM manager. Erased the clockwork folder from my SD card. Reinstalled the ROM manager. Flashed the ClockworkMod recovery. Was successful with getting a recovery, 2.5.0.1 Tried to backup my current ROM. The phone rebooted, gave me the HTC screen, then shutdown and I need to battery pull. After that I tried the Home Key recovery reboot and got the same shutdown.
Does anybody see anything that I have done wrong here? Anywhere. I just want to find my recovery mode. Is there another way to get there?
Please help.
Thanks.
Peace.
Try flashing a different recovery I recommend Darch Star RA 1.7 If you search XDA /hero cdma/ android development you will find a thread called Darch Droid 2.8 go there and on the first page u will find it along with instructions on flashing the recovery if you need help with that just respond here and if I can help I will but hopefully that helps good luck

Trip, I think I love you!
This got me back to where I need to be. I've got my recovery mode back! I'm running a nandroid as I type and I'm on my back to CM6!
Thank you for suggesting something that hadn't been suggested yet.
Peace.

On Three network, how do I remove everything to default?

Hi Guys,
Looking for a bit of help if possible.
I have a One on the Three network. Recently I have been trying to install recovery and root.
I have been able to install recovery but could not boot into it. The phone would flash a black screen then just boot as normal. I tried all of the other methods on here to make it work but couldn't, until someone suggested to hold power and vol down as soon as it flashed black. This worked but now I have installed prety much every recovery I could find and the bootloader is showing as *** TAMPERED ***.
Basically I just want to know how I can wipe everything back to default and start again. Am I right in thinking to do this I need to flash the stock 3 ROM?
Can anyone point me to the right file?
Many thanks!

Flashing back to stock would be a step in the right direction, I'd start with that.
The stock rom can be found in this thread > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224752

[Q] HTC One won't turn on. Can't go into recovery or fastboot. Bricked?

I tried searching the threads but couldn't find one with a problem like exactly mine. Sorry if I was a lousy searcher, but here goes:
1 I had TWRP and TrickDroid 5.5.1 installed. Working fine.
2 Downloaded TrickDroid 6.0.1, went into recovery, wiped everything/factory reset etc. and installed the new ROM, rebooted
3 Working fine but there is no root
4 Tried wiping everything again and reflashing the same ROM. Rebooted. Same thing: ROM is working but there's no root
5 Read somewhere that flashing a different kernel might work, so I flashed Bulletproof 1.10 through TWRP. At the end of the installation of the kernel, right before reboot, TWRP said that my root seemed to be broken and asked me if I wanted to fix it. I said yes. As soon as I said yes (by swiping), phone shut off. Now it won't even start so I can't get into recovery. Pressing Volume-down+Power won't get me into fastboot either.
—The only sign of life is this: when I long press the power button, the home and back buttons will blink as long as I continue pressing it. When I release, nothing happens.
—When I plug the phone to PC, it sees it as a "HTC MTP device" and looks for the drivers but fails to find them.
I had never any trouble with flashing ROMs before so I got lazy with time, I don't have any nandroid backup, though since I can't get even into fastboot I guess that's the least of my problems?
Please help; did I really just brick my phone?
Just happened to me too man, I'm not sure what to do! Sorry to hijack your thread, just looking for answers too.

Dude, just hold the volume down button and then press the power button...the back and home button will keep flashing and then it will stop...should take you into fastboot..navigate to recovery and try to load a rom up using the SD card mount method...hope it works out for you man!

No need to apologize, that's why we're here. Please report back if you can find a solution.
Google told me that HTC's RUU tool could possibly help unbrick it, so I've downloaded the European variant ("RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.20.401.1_Radio_4A.13.3227.06_10.27.1127.01_release_308001_signed_2_4"). I fiddled a bit in the Device Manager in my PC and somehow got it to recognize the phone as "My HTC" under "Android ...", then ran the program. HTC logo appeared on the phone's screen so I got excited but after 10 minutes of waiting RUU told me it was the wrong variant and exited. Back to nil. I'm now downloading another variant of the RUU. We'll see if it helps. (I can't for the life of me figure out how to make my PC recognize the phone again though; I'm back to "MTP device, failed to install drivers" phase. Frustrating.)

That doesn't work for me unfortunately, the capacitive buttons just keep on flashing. I can get my PC to recognize it as "HTC Android Interface" but the second RUU failed, too. Glad yours got fixed, though.

if you can get still have adb access use Hasoon's AIO Toolkit to reboot to bootloader/recovery and go from there. otherwise hold power and volume down button with the screen facing a very bright light.

Bricked after attempted TrickDroid update
I’m having the same problem.
Attempted to update Trickdroid 6.0.1 to 7.0 last night.
My phone now constantly hangs on the boot screen.
I can get to the fastboot and bootloader menus via long press volume down and power but anything from here simply reboots the phone back to the boot screen.
I’ve tried connecting the phone to the PC and using Fastboot and the One all in one kit but the device is never recognised.
Basically I’ve bricked my phone and need help!!

go to fastboot, use HTC all in one kit by hasoon to flash TWRP, go in twrp, Wipe everything including data, system, cache, dalvik cache, again go on HTC kit and put command of adb sideload, go on TWRP advanced menu and sideload roam. once sideload gets transferred, it will start installing and try different rom like ARHD 10.1
I can't belive it, but the bright light thing actually worked for me!
Thanks!
I was in the same situation with an HTC logo and flashing back and home keys. When I tried volume down + power under a bright light, it came back to life in bootloader. Not sure what the bright light has to do with it but glad it worked.
Bright light solution is from twrp sleep bug.. I read it before.. Good luck

The bright light trick is not a bug, and it has nothing to do with TWRP. It happens because HTC built in a "pocket protection" so that the phone will not reboot on its own in your pocket. The proximity sensor needs light shining on it for a hard reboot to work. (Sometime they're not sensitive enough and it takes a brighter light than you would expect)

New ROM Gone Wrong!

Okay so basically yesterday I got my lovely spanking HTC ONE (m7) and quickly proceeded to downloading the One_All-In-One_Kit, uncloked the bootloader and rooted the phone successfully.
I then proceeded to download ARHD and flash it accordingly, everything went swimmingly, the ROM installed via Aroma as it should, yep all nice and dandy. NO! After the installation, I rebooted, get to the HTC bootscreen, I'm presented with a nice new red message at the bottom and then the phone restarts itself, tries to enter recovery, that doesn't work, then it tries booting up again and does the same thing over and over.
I've flashed the ROM several times and get the same thing each time. I've tried RGUI and get the same sort of thing with that only with RGUI the phone doesn't try rebooting into recovery it just stays on the HTC bootscreen.
I'm desperate for help on this so please, if anyone has any insight it would be highly appreciated.
I hope you're not also flashing any of the custom kernels on here....cos they're not compatible with 4.2.2
Nope not flashing anything else but the ROM itself..
after flashing did you try "fastboot erase cache" ?
sometimes that helps when phones get stuck on the HTC logo after a rom flash.
Use the toolkit to erase cache
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
Yeah done that several times too. Can't seem to work out why it isn't working and I too can't find the correct RUU for my device meaning I can't even take it back to stock
try to hold power + volume down to get into the bootloader to get back into recovery. Once in recovery factory reset, erase cache, erase dalvik, and reflash the rom.
also download the andorid SDK for fastboot and adb, then try "adb reboot bootloader" if you can not get back into the bootloader to get into recovery
My friend had his do this loop as well, we had trouble getting it into recovery, but held the button combo of power and vol down several times (probably 10) and it FINALLY booted into the custom Clockwork recovery, then we reflashed and it worked like a charm.
Also try redownloading... it could be a bad download

Just a word of advice. Update your profile to say your country and carrier. It helps people identify which device model and carrier you use.
Thanks for the help so far guys, basically I can get into recovery, that's not the problem, the problem is the phone gets stuck on the HTC screen after the ROM has been installed. I'll try downloading the ROM again when I can, in the hope that it is just a bad download. Hopefully this is the case and re-flashing a newly downloaded ROM will solve all my issues.
I'll post back with the result as and when I can.

[Q] HELP bootloop/erased recovery

So here is the situation, i am S-off unlocked all the good stuff. Flashed venom 3.1.0 RC2, was working great. The i wen into Venom tweaks and saw it had three kernels listed i could install. DLd ExperimentalX .6x. installed perfect not a hitch. Then the phone boots up. No signal what so ever. X over the bars. Then it restarts. Boots up, no signal at all, rinse and repeat. If i try to boot into recovery to re flash the rom to give it its stock kernel it goes to the boot-loader instead. No recovery possible whatsoever. When i try to do fast-boot, it says waiting for device. I am stuck any help much much appreciated.
You have it set on fastboot usb on phone and have fastboot set up on pc?
Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk
That is correct. I have the htc sync installed and fastboot ready to go. Its been used in the past so i dont know why it is causing such a problem now
This is exactly what happened to me, Sam Rom and everything. Please any help would be amazing.

I'm having the same issue with the Bulletproof kernel
EDIT: I flashed twrp again from fastboot, erased cache, rebooted, then rebooted into recovery. I did a wipe then restored back to my stock rom. Seems like the Kernel install erased my recovery? I've got the stock ROM back but the phone continues to reboot every few minutes and won't pick up service... Any help would be appreciated
(disclaimer: I am not well educated on this stuff – just getting started – so what I did may be totally wrong)
