cmw recovery fix permissions

Well wanted to do something different but seems like i did something bad.
yeah i did pressed fix permission while in cmw-recovery and yeah it got stuck there...so after like 30 mins i had no choice but to try to close it, didn`t work...15 mins later took battery out and problem solved
not really, now some applications don`t work anymore and keep poping up with ForceClosing messages. Unfortunately deleting/reinstalling the application didn`t fix it.
so what i did and how to undone it ?

edit1: flashed rom, the applications in cause still don`t work but i`m gonna use some replacements and not install those anymore
easier and faster fix

Ive been having some weird problems?

Hi all.
Firstly note this has occurred on 3 custom roms so far.
Ive noticed that the camera some times wont work, ill open it and the buttons will be gone, wont focus nore take a picture. Restart fixes it though. Only happens about once every 3 days.
It will freeze then unfreeze with a billion FC messages. This has only happened twice in about 3 weeks though.
Blue tooth wont connect to anything, restart required.
Buttons lag like absolute crazy, I press the home button and nothing happens for about 4 seconds.
Can someone help me? Ive trier 3 roms and all happens although some are worse then others.

Try Pandoriam v6.6 and CWM recovery v 6.0.x No issues here!
There was loads of weird issues when using TWRP recovery tho....

I think my SD card is having a lot to do with it. I remove my SD card and everything seems better. Half the pictures ect dont load most of the time either on it so maybe its dieing?
Format the whole SD card and wipe the phone fresh install maybe?

[Q] weird problem

hello !
i wanted to fresh install a new rom so i flashed my stock 4.2.2 ES ftf as i usually do. But now when i start the phone , it boots into system then it just freezes after about 4 minutes and i have to reset it . it does happen EVERYTIME and i did wipe everything and reflashed via flashtool.
any ideas ?

Sounds almost like ur stock es ftf is maybe faulty. Try finding a different one. Pretty much any will do. I have on my German one an China ftf 4.2.2. On it and no issues. Because it was pretty much the first 4.2.2 official released. That's why I flashed it.

problem is that i had this one reflashed 5 times before this. maybe it got corrupt somehow. I'll try flashing another one and see if that's changed

What u might need to do is fully when flashing whipping the phone. After so many flashes on top of each other it might be a good idea to start fresh new.

but i actually did a full wipe eveytime. checked all the boxes in wipe in flashtool :-s

Did u try using the official sony flashtool?

Here is sony official flashtool try it to flash it it should bring ur phone back to life and then u can use the other flashtool again. Don't worry the page is in German but the flashtool will be multilingual http://www.sonymobile.com/de/tools/update-service/

just a quick observation . i pulled the sd card out and tried to restore from a backup via the sony app ( wich sometimes froze the system ) and it's still ok now . Could an SD card do something like this ?

I have read some post that ppl report to have issues with the phone and SD cards. I have a 32 GB SanDisk and have no issues. But I can't tell u exactly what brand or why it seems to have sometimes issues with SD cards.

i do have a sandisk 32 gb uhs card . I've done the update via SUS and got 1 freeze with the sd inside . Reformated the card and got one more freeze. Without it it seems it doesn't freeze. Kinda weird
later edit : yes i think it is the SD card . As soon as i put it inside , it freezes the phone. Otherwise it works great and was able to reformat it. Any ideas what i could do ?

no not really . As long as it's working fine in a micro SD adapter , the retailer won't swap it for another one. I don't think so at least...

Did you reformat it in the phone or in your pc?
Try by your phone.

my usual reformat route is : full reformat ( not quick ) on my pc and then a reformat on the phone . then i recopy all my phone data on it. Imma try it again...

Does it freeze with empty sd?
Could be a faulty sd nothing else.

Also , it froze up once during a call but i could still talk , it just didn't respond to any other input.

It could be like u said that one of the data or so is corrupted on ur sd card. Or one of the data you copy on it. If it works fine with an empty sd card then u know that something that is in the sd card is causing an issue.

yup well it's within the data in the SD card . i suspect it's in the backup files from Sony. I hope more people see this so they can take the necessary precautions when doing a backup and don't have to choose between their data and their phone working normally !

Ur backup was still from an software version below 4.2.2? And it could be that some apps that worked on the software version before 4.2.2 might not compatible so well. But good u let ppl know and we figured out ur issue. Enjoy ur Xperia Z.

4.3 Storage Problems?

Hey guys, I'm new to the one coming from an s4, and after learning all the necessary things I flashed a 4.3 custom Rom over the stock 4.1.2 that I had. Now I've got a massive amount (19.89 gb) of storage from 'other'... I tried deleting certain files that I thought were the culprit(data/media) but after trying to with box Rom toolbox pro and root explorer I have been unsuccessful in removing the folders, they just stick there no matter what I do, even after deleting them all twice over and rebooting several times. Now I've noticed that if I move a file into the 0 folder then suddenly the pictures show up in the gallery after a reboot. However there are still files I don't need and want to get rid of. Anyone for helping?

I've already read through that one, it doesn't help as it seems I cannot delete the folders, outside of data/media/0 as these all persist after a reboot, even after deleting them. File manager says finished deleting and then I reboot, still there, still taking up 7 gb extra space.

looks like im using this phone with only an accessable 2 gigabytes for now. Bummer Hummer

Hate to be that guy, but back everything up (helium for apps and app data, move all media to a computer) and factory reset. It's a pain, I know, but it almost certainly will fix the problem.

I had the save problem, I used a usb otg thing and copied what I wanted, did a factory reset and formatted my storage in twrp, now all is good and transferred the stuff back to the phone storage

This seems to be the only fix, I've tried everything else. Seems it was an issue from going from 4.1.2 to to 4.2.2 also

Ive tried a factory reset, clockwork mod wipe, deleting root folders and nothing works!! :crying: Ill try the twrp format though. because right now i have 11gb in my "other" folder!
UPDATE: holy poop guys that was the most scary bricking Ive ever dealt with!!!!! whatever you guys do, dont format EVERYTHING like I did!!!!

I've been dancing around using the TWRP "format data" option as well, so you are advising against that huh? Why, was it a little more than just factory reset type deal? I need to find a solution to this issue and I know that resetting is the answer, just need to find the best way to go about it. Thanks for the update, and I would love to hear what exactly you went through selecting the TWRP format option!

I formatted EVERYTHING in twrp haha the only way I got my phone back was to downgrade twrp to 2.5.0.0 and use abd sideload ( sideloaded my viper rom) with the htc toolkit program on my pc. And now my "other" folder says 2 gb which I believe is correct. :good: But now I have another problem I went into recovery and installed a zip file that modified the amount of steps i had in my volume, (I have already installed it before and it worked great) now my phone is in a bootloop and Ive already tried flashing a new boot image but it doesn't work....what do i do?
UPDATE: I guess i warned against it because I thought i ruined my phone. Also, I just sideloaded viper rom again to fix my problem

Need help!! - Solved

Hi guys,
I have got my phone with root for almost an year, i have flashed so many roms and now I don´t know what happen...I was flashing paranoid and when I´m rebooting the phone, the lg logo appears and then the phone just turns off...and now it´s happening with all of the roms, i make a factory reset, wipe cache, flash the rom but the phone after the lg logo always turns off...
I really need help because I can´t be without the phone much longer...

Didn´t solve there is anything more than i can do? since i can only acess do recovery :s

Try to flash kdz file once again but search how to do it here on forums are a lot of brick threads solved .. Goodnight and good luck all best for u
