I have a westinghouse 32" 1080p tv. I got the hdmi mulitimedia dock yesterday. I a hdmi cable someone had gave me awhile back that ive never used since ive dont have anything that used it. when I got home and found it took a mini hdmi I got an adapter. after plugging everything in I get no video and the sound goes in and out. like 5 sec on 5 sec off. I cant test on another tv and after searching all day I havent found any1 with this problem. but it seems like they all have the a to c cable. could it be that I need to buy a new cable. does anyone have it working using a regular hdmi cable with a hdmi mini adapter. I.m using the newest overcome rom kratos
I also have the dock and am using overcome kratos, however I don't have the right cable to connect the dock to my tv. I could swear that I read somewhere that the overcome builds don't support TV out.
that is interesting of all the things I thought was the problem I didn't think it would be my rom. could someone confirm this I don't really think I want to switch from overcome

Just tested mine and had no issues. Both picture and sound working. Mini hdmi to hdmi straight from the dock to tv.
just bought the hdtv adapter for p1000 after plug in the screen flashes on the tv but doesnt stay on. I am running GingerBread 2.3.3. I cant seem to solve the issue, I even tried on a newer tv and it does the exact same thing.

I have exactly the same problem as well. I am on Overcome 4.0. I have also tried with 2 different TVs with no success. Still looking for a solution...
I have the same problem
I had theorised that it was because I had updated using the nowipe option! (overcome Kratos edition)
Over the holidays I intend to do a clean Kratos install to see if that sorts it.
I hope you have plugged in the charger to the dock, or else it wont work!
aye done that. no joy though
Yes, charger is plugged in. But still no luck. Tried my wife's Galaxy Tab, which is on Kratos and the exact same issue with the picture showing snow and the occasional flash of the Galaxy Tab screen. I'm wondering if the HDMI Dock itself is faulty.
If so, then my dock has the exact same fault!
I now believe that the snow/static image symptoms that we are seeing is actually indicating an "HDMI Handshake" issue. So I am now researching as much as I can to see if there if anything I can do to rectify HDMI Handshake issues. I'll let you know if I resolve anything.

I tried many ROM(some stock froyo, stock gingerbread, overcome 4.0), only with 2.3.6. cromed works a little better, but still working with the snow for 2 seconds and dark for 5-8 seconds.
I have the same issue. Tried also many ROMS (OC 4.0, Boca RC1, Miui), but no working hdmi output. Is there any ROM where it works?
Last night I flashed my Galaxy Tab with the new and awesome Overcome 4.1.0. HDMI output works fine now.

Just tried flashing Overcome 4.1.0. HDMI is still not working for me. I am wondering if the cable I am using is dodgy. I am using a 2 metre Mini HDMI to HDMI cable. Anyone successfully using a 2m or longer cable?
I use a mini HDMI to HDMI cable, but it is only 1 m long. What is your System? PAL or NTSC?
that is how I am working my setup!
I just picked up a Thrill and tried hooking it to my TV and it keeps saying no signal. Is it I have a bad cord or is there a setting I need to put the Thrill on to mirror it to my TV? I don't actually need to mirror it, I just wanna watch movies from it on my TV.
Please HELP!!!!

just hook it up
I did that and I got nothing and I don't have another cable to test if that is the problem.

That happens to me sometimes. Try changing the input while connected and go back to the hdmi input your connected to. Or turn the tv on then back on. It can also just be that you have to play with the cable connection

I tried changing thru the HDMI channels and no luck. I also tried playing with the cord but nothing. I didn't try the TV off and back on yet but I will. You think it might be just a bad cord or a bad phone? Cause the phone functions fine besides the HDMI out.

i have to go through the hdmi option on the phone for some reason when mine is set to automatic it wont work yet if i choose 1080p or 720p it works fine hope this helps
press the power button to sleep the phone and then power it back on and see if it shows anything. If i plug it in while the phone is displaying then it doesn't show anything until i do this.

We have a couple more months till we upgrade TVs to get a HDMI capable TV. Would there by any issues with getting a converter to RCA jacks from the HDMI cable out from the phone?
If you find somewhere that sells Micro HDMI to RCA let me know. I mean I could always go to DVI but I would lack the sound.
From what I recall the actual device required to convert from hdmi to rca is quite expensive....it requires some sort of signal processor box...
but I could be wrong.
http://hdmitorca.net/
It does require a processor box, because you need to transfer Digital signal (HDMI) to Analog signal (RCA). That's why You won't find just a simple hdmi-rca cord.
the converter boxes can range from cheap to expensive depending on quality, and if you are looking to scale up or down. IMO with down scaling quality is not as important as with up scaling.
I cant seem to get my hdmi to work either I guess i'll try some of the suggestions here
Any other suggestions, I cannot get it to work and I tried all the suggestions here, Do I need to be in a specific program for it to work?
try Post #7 on fist page of this thread. also some tv's don't pick up automatically what is being broadcast as far as the signal. you may have to play around with your hdmi output settings to match your tv.
Some hdmi tvs have to have a firmware upgrade i cant connect my fios tv box to mine without doing an upgrade according to the fios guy i gotta use the old rca style hd cables

Id love to post this in the development forum but not enuf posts so... I flashed steeldroid the other day and I love it, especialy with the GB launcher I added. Problem is, I can't get it to come out of charge only mode when hooking to the computer. It never gives me the option in the notification bar. Is there any other way to change it? Anyone have any ideas? I appreciate any help

Try a different cord, usb port, or computer. It sounds like it's not establishing a connection

I had a similar problem. My phone would not show it is charging past 95% but it would still increase the charge. I am waiting for the newest update before i dig into it myself.

I've got a similar issue on SD3 v3. I get the connect choices (PC, mass media, media sync, charge only) but i can't get mass media mode to connect on my windows 7 x64 machine. I get the bonk when the computer detects its connected, but don't see anything in device manager. Found a work around at least for the moment, put it in PC mode, and used the moto software, I can get into my internal card.
right, see i dont even get the connect options when i plug in. i am thinking it is something in the rom because it worked fine with the first cable i tried just before i flashed it. i know i could just restore to the nandroid backup of stock and do what i need to do but i dont wanna do that if i dont have to id rather make it work. is there a specific service or apk that controls the usb connect options that i can check?
Are you guys using the cord that came with the phone?
Yes all of my cables are motorola cables. The one i use for the computer is the cable that csme with the D3

EDIT: Conclusion =D
Well i'm happy with a setup i've just done. Using my X Mini portable speakers I get a very loud speaker, with high quality. If anyone else cannot be bothered/cannot figure out how to fix HDMI, these are probably better than my Tv's speakers anyways. And there only £12 =D
Also, YATSE remote for android allows me to control it despite not having CEC!

Hello, I haven't seen much on Raspbmc on XDa, but its a great little OS. With overclocking controls (much like yuo might get on android) and XBMC booting by default for the professional look =D
Anyway, I haven't been able to get any sound out of the HDMI. I know that sound output can work (on a different OS, like raspbian). Also, i noticed that the HDMI control (ie using TV remote to control it) doesn't work.
Any ideas? Anyone else using PI?
(also, have tried loads of configurations in audio, now i'm stuck)
Edit: I'm trying a clean install, ill post my results.
I've been using raspbmc since I got my first pi and haven't had those problems. However the last iteration of rc5 did have issues with cec which would explain why your remote wouldn't work if your not on the absolute latest. As far as sound only issues I've heard about is with people using external stereo for sound. Disable DTS if your using your tv. With the latest versions be careful with overclocking, there's currently a problem in the build that is causing SD card corruption for a lot of users.

Check out xbian.org its a xbmc build for the rpi that works great. My remote for my LG tv works great and same for sound, no issues. Has oc control as well. It does freeze up every few days but that's my only issue with it

Reinstalled but...
Reinstalled but still no joy.
Im gonna try xbian, as Endoroid suggested, much thanks
I did overclock it, but i have noticed that when booting up, sometimes i have to restart as it says
Code:
**cant read, cut off screen****al commit I/O error
Humph, im guessing that al is journal (after googling the rest).
Ill report back again on my xbian results, hopefully end of thread? we'll see (i hope my sd card isn't corrupt or something, i dont think so, file management sitll works and it boots...)
Right...
I installed XBian but still have no sound?!
I know that sound has worked on XBMC, i remember when i first got it i tried it breifly, im gonna try with headphone port and see if i get sound. Even if I do, i'd like to use the HDMI output, rather than headphones/portablespeakers.
Any clues?
Edit:
Headphones working fine... i'm not sure whether that is a good thing or a bad thing...
(im testing using a few different sound sources, not just one, os i doubt this is any Program errors. It must be the system. Are there any drivers i can download for a samsung TV?)
Also, i might try on a different TV and see if it's just the tv?!

I see that no one has commented on this in a while, so I hope that the thread is not dead. When I hook up my Raspbmc to my TV through my Denon receiver, I get picture, but no sound. I added the two lines of code to the config file mentioned on the Pi forums that supposedly force HDMI. When I go into audio settings, however, I don't even seem to have an HDMI option. The only options are Analog and Coax.
Thoughts?

I had this problem too when I got a Raspberry Pi a week ago, with a Samsung UN32EH4000 (I don't think the TV has CEC, if that matters). Tried all the recommended solutions, but never had the HDMI choice for the sound even. Went to Xbian and had no problems.
Not posted since forever :S
I have given up on Raspbmc, and even xbian as I have found they don't work well, for me.
I did like Arch linux, but had problems had memory problems.
I have had memory problems on all of the distros tried, I think it might be a hardware problem (after a successful boot or two it forgets how to turn on and just fails)
Oh well :L Gonna try raspbian for a bit and see if i get anywhere.

I was able to fix this by adding "hdmi_force_hotplug=1" and "hdmi_drive=2" to my Config file. I also went pure Raspbmc. You can install XBMC from Raspian, but since my goal was a media extender, I just installed Raspbmc. Wait for everything to settle, turn off the Pi, put the SD card in your PC, open up config.txt, and copy those two lines of code.
Make sure when you edit the config file on a pc, if using windows. Use notepad+ as windows will not properly format the file using utf-8 with standard notepad.

Also... make sure you're using a quality dependable power supply that actually puts out 5V and at least 700mA, I use an Amazon Kindle Fire 2.1A charger just for the headroom.
The easiest way to check is to have the Pi plugged in and on, and check voltage on the board directly with a test meter. If you don't get the correct values, try a different power supply.
I have 2 Droid 3 xt862 phones, neither have working audio when hooked up via HDMI.
Both are rooted but running stock, both have the GSM hack and are flashed with the Chinese radio.
Is the problem with the root or the flashed radio?
The HDMI cable and TV work fine,I tried the cable using an Atrix 2.
I want to use one of the Droid 3's as a media/emulator center and have it always hooked up but the no audio makes that impossible.
Anyone else has this issue?

Which ROM? I would recommend backing up your ROM and SBFing. You can always reroot/Safestrap. Actually if you have SS 3 you can just switch ROM slots back to stock, SBF, and test and then just reroot and install SS and it'll be able to switch back. I've done that before.

I've had the same problem with my D3, probably just a coincidence but since I've installed Minimoto the problem seems to be gone...
Anyway, the solution:
If you reboot the phone with the HDMI-cabe plugged in both to your device and the TV, the sound will work again.

How about connecting headphone output of phone to tv input you can. If you don’t have the input on yourTv you could try hooking the headphone output to a stereo receiver.

i could try that, kinda defeats the purpose of hdmi tho.
i SBFed one of the droid 3s and it still didnt fix the issue,my guess is it's hardware related, maybe a defect since ive read others have had the same issue...
im just going to get a droid x2 and use that for my 16-bit rom gaming .
Ok, did you try rebooting the phone with hdmi plugged in and the tv on? That's what did the trick for me numerous times.
edit:
Perhaps something is stuck in the headphone-jack, making a connection, tricking the phone that headphones are plugged in and thus blocking sound from hdmi?
