Hi,
I'm kind of a newbie when it comes to Titanium backup. The issue I'm having is that when I schedule backups and they run, it seems to override some of my settings. I had swype as default input for Handcent (and Handcent as default messenger). Both of these settings seem to get disabled when I run either of the default backup schedules that come preinstalled with Titanium Backup. Is there a different type of backup setting I should be running? This seems to be a dealbreaker for me using this app to backup my apps as it's really annoying.

I'm on CM6 right now, and am planning on switching to AOSP 0.9.9.2. My problem is, I cannot get a working backup/restore from CM6 to AOSP, which should use the same MMS.apk. Aside from the manual backup of the .db files and restoring of them, is there a good app for this?
I've tried the free titanium backup, but it did not seem to attempt to backup/restore these at all?
I've tried 'backup everything' that almost works, but the restore seems to corrupt the db.
I've tried sms backup/restore, which doesn't do mms, but did the smss perfectly.
I'm more than happy to pay for something if it has at least 1 credible 'vouch'.
s0be haven't seen you on here in a while
I've had some luck with Message Sync when it comes to restoring MMS. I've never tried to do a backup/restore when I have a large number of sms/mms's though.
Hope this helps
I just picked up my Bionic, but when I restore the SMS messages from my previous phone, the default Messaging app displays them with the timestamp at which they were restored, not when they were sent.
I'm not sure if this is a problem with the messaging app or SMSBackupRestore, but the sms.xml I'm restoring from definitely has the timestamps in there.
For the time being I've backed everything up and wiped them from the phone so that I can restore whenever this is fixed (or I flash a new ROM.)
Anyone else experiencing this?
I've ran into this on most the SMS restore apps, tried the one you did, tried mybackup pro, haven't had much luck finding one that restores the original times.
It sounds like how the Bionic's messaging app displays the texts, then. All the backup app does is parse the XML file and insert the messages into the common sms SQL database.
Hi there
I would like to backup my SMSes (only sms,not the app) using Titanium Backup. May I know which file should I choose to backup in TB? I tried exploring around but couldn't find anything that looks like my SMSes.
You need SMS backup from the market.

Actually I have made a full backup with TB previously, so now I wish to restore my SMSes. Problem is, I do not know which file. And I do not want to do a full restore as I only need to recover my SMSes. Any help?

Man, as far as I know Titanium is just for backing up your applications... It doesn't backup SMS nor anything other than apps...

My guess is that SMS is part of the data for a particular app. So when I backed up my apps and their data, my SMSes should have been captured as well. Only problem is I do not know which one is it.
Please correct me if my assumption is wrong.

I've restored sms's before using titanium backup. Can't remember how though.
smsbackup is alot simpler.
Well, that's good to know! If they are saved with data for an app, that app should be sms app, I suppose.

no, sms app (mms.apk) does not store any sms in its data store. there is another process calles message store, this seems somehow related to the sms data.
look under the m section section of apps when you view backup/restore apps in alphabetical format and you will find an app in yellow titled '[sms/mms prefs] messaging' and I believe if you restore that one you will get your messages back
There is a very good free app called SMS Backup+, it can backup your SMS, MMS and call logs directly to Gmail with proper label. It can restore it from there as well.
Hi guys
I recently flashed "update-cm-7.2.0-RC1-umts_sholes-KANG-signed" with the google apps "gapps-gb-20111216-signed" and i followed all the steps from here http://www.mrmuh.com/2012/01/update...torola-firmware-to-cyanogenmod-7/#comment-791.
However i ran into a few bugs,
1. titanuum backup didnt restore all of my apps, it kept freezing while going through some apps soo i had to close it and reboot, a few times of that and like 15 of my apps dissappeared from the list.
2. how do i restore my messages, i did the titanium backup and nandroid stuff but i still can find a way to restore my messages? CAN you help me?
i
1. Use mybackuproot next time. Has never failed me to save and restore APK's and Data, as long as its the same (ie, less reliable if you switch from Froyo->GB or GB to ICS but GB to GB is perfect).
2. Might be too late, I'm not sure if Titanium Backup does save txts but if it does (and you checked the box or whatever to back up txts) i hope someone else can help you. I use GoSMS's backup feature. I find it's even handy to have even when you still prefer the stock sms app due to the fact that it can do both manual and automated back up. It'll even send the file to your gmail for you periodically.

This app is also great for backing up and then restoring SMS. It neatly backs up your txts to a separate SMS folder on your gmail account, automatically. Very minimal impact on battery (of course, if you set it to backup immediately every time or frequently this changes, 12-24 hour periods seems fair to me)
I've turned off notifications for the app as I changed to Google Messenger which I like better and is faster.
But I have not been able to uninstall the OEM Messaging and the alerts are still received and never go away.
The only fix I have found is making it the default, removing the alert and then making the Google the default again.
Any one have a fix for this endless alert?
If you are rooted you can "freeze" Messaging with an app like Titanium Backup. It may also be possible to disable the app from the System Apps menu.
Darn the Luck ! ! ! No Titanium and it won't disable in sys apps.
