[Q] Samsung Galaxy S i9000 jellybam v7.7 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys!
I have some problems with flashing the "official" stable rom jellybam v7.7.
I tried to take back stock rom (gingerbread 2.3) Then rooted it, and wiped cache/dalvik /data and formated my system in advanced options. But when I try to flash jellybam v7.7 stable.zip it says that symlink error/status7
I heard a little about that I must repartition my cache 'cuz it is too small for the rom. Anyhow is there any other option? Or could any of you help me in repartition my cache?

Thread Closed.
JellyBam is now allowed on XDA as it is a banned ROM.

[Q] The best way for a migration to CyanogenMod from stock ICS 4.0.4

>>>> WARNING <<<< Noob inside
Hello everybody
Please forgive me if my english is not good
This is my first post in the XDA forum, and after more than day to read a lots of interresting posts, i'm completly lost...
I have a GN with the last stock rom from Samsung (4.0.4 XXLRG - Open Germany) and it's rooted.
When i look into the XDA CyanogenMod thread, I read that:
- I STRONGLY RECOMMEND TO FLASH FROM A CF-ROOTED STOCK GINGERBREAD ROM, JUST TO AVOID YOU HARD BRICKS.
And in the CynogenMod Wiki, this:
- This guide assumes the device is already running stock Ice Cream Sandwich available from Samsung. If the Samsung Galaxy Note already has the ClockworkMod Recovery installed, skip this section.
I'm confused....
What's the best way to install CM9 on my note ?
> going back to a "safe" GB rom ?
> keeping my Stock rooted ICS rom and start the install of CM9 ?
Thank you in advance for your replys.

Download Stock GB Rom from Dr. Ketan's page
Flash that using PC Odin
After flash do wipe from recovery
Root + CWM from chainfire's thread(use search feature )
After CWM, put CM9 zip in SD card and flash(instructions available if you search :highfive
Don't flash from stock ICS because of emmc brickbug :sillyagain search will help here )

Need Your Advice, especially sometime i don't understand everyone are talking about..

I'm a newbie in this forum. and also newbie with android, especially with samsung galaxy note.
accidently, i succesfully super bricked my new smartphone, which is samsung galaxy note i bought about 2 weeks ago, samsung galaxy note officially ICS stock rom LQ2.
i'm not quite understand with this kind of rom.
after met samsung service center, and thanks to my "sweet" talk, they agreed to replace with new phone even though i got exclamation mark.
-----
and thanks to dr ketan, i rooted my samsung galaxy note once again using fast way + notecore v12 .. and thanks to chainfire who make triangle away.
-----
after i read some threads in general. i'm kinda intrested with custom rom such paranoid from imilka.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1662802
but after i bricked my note last week, i'm kinda affraid to custom my note once again.
so I need your advice ..
i'm not understand with
DON'T flash FROM ANY SAMSUNG ICS OR ROMS BASED ON SAMSUNG KERNELS (my CM9, AOSP, etc) Flash any stock GB rom with odin / or any GB kernel [instructions] root device [instructions] and reboot into recovery once again before flashing this
Install Rom: http://d-h.st/I9m
Install HYBRID Gapps: http://www.paranoid-rom.com/index.ph...pps-hybrid.zip
Wipe caches, factory reset is a must if you're coming from another rom than CM9
If your statusbar is gone after the first reboot: longpress Powerbutton > Toggle Statusbar
Reboot and edit your Apps Dpi under Settings/Paranoid Settings/P.A.D. Hold the powerbutton to see the new fullscreen-togglebutton
ok now i want to ask :
my rom is official samsung ics + notecore v12 kernel. do i need to flash my note into stock gb rom? so if i need to flash into gb, which gb i must download ? dr.ketan give us an option to choose, directly rootable and non rootable directly. what is that mean?
which one should i choose ? and how about the kernel ? do kernel change after i flash GB stock rom ? or i need to change my kernel too ?
and if i need to flash other kernel ? which one is a good one kernel ? especially for custom rom like cyanogenmod9 or paranoid.
sorry for my bad english.
i need your advice.

Flash prerooted GB ROM first (http://d-h.st/HJM)
wipe cache and data from recovery then
-Install Rom: http://d-h.st/I9m
-Install HYBRID Gapps: http://www.paranoid-rom.com/index.ph...pps-hybrid.zip
-Wipe caches, factory reset is a must if you're coming from another rom than CM9
And being a newbie, i HIGHLY SUGGEST you stay away from experimental roms.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
and what do you mean with experimental rom? what if that rom is cyanogen mod9?

:laugh::laugh::laugh:
Experimental ROMs are those ROMs which are not stable i.e. which are very buggy and have (sometimes) major issues.
Eg. Here and here
They say clearly that many things are not working.Don't flash these as a noob. We'll help if you run into troubles,of course, but its better to stay away until you learn more.
Anyways, I'd better say this before the lynching party gets here:
""PREVIEW DISCLAIMER:
This is a PREVIEW : CyanogenMod 10 is nowhere near ready to be used as a daily driver (lots of features still have to be merged)""
as copied from the CM10 dev thread.

Flashing ICS 4.0.4 stock w/ touchwiz from ParanoidAndroid v.0.5

Hi guys,
I recently got a n-7000, but before I read all the threads with the issues, that you can brick it and stuff I rooted it and installed Paranoid Android v 0.5 with a CM9 on 4.0.4. Needless to say all the S-pen apps are now unavailable and what I have is a bigger S 2. I love it and all don't get me wrong, and kudos to the developer for such a great hybrid, but I'm interested in the stylus as well because for me this is a replacement of a tablet.
My baseband is N7000XXLA3
Now I want to change my version to [ROM ICS404 LR6 08-8-12]~CleaNote 5.00~stock~root~NoteCore~Salty Snake edition and I was wondering do I just flash it over? Do I go back to a stable GB? What is the best way to do it?
I apologise before hand for any tech mistakes I made as I am a noob and thank you in advance for all the help.
When you are moving from different base (CM to ICS), I recommend to flash pre rooted GB ROM first, wipe cache, delvic cache, data and then update to newer ICS based ROM using CWM. This is safest way.

Thanks a lot doctor . However, my baseband is LA3 and the cleanote uses LR6. after i revert to the stable GB KJ1 do I install an LR6 ICS or can I just flash the Cleanote software?
Go directly to flash clearnote from KJ1.

It's better to have a clean installation
just do :
wipe cache partition
advances ----> wipe dalvik cache
Actually you do.
Some may be lucky, but most aren't.
A clean installation is REQUIRED.
There's many complaining of FC's cause they simply wiped cache but didn't do a full wipe.
They're completely new builds (XXLS7 and XXLSA).
[Galaxy Note] [4.1.2] Ultimate XXLSA - 3G
hello,
I am allowed to continue in this thread for my question. Hoping that it does not pose a problem.
I installed on my V5 ultimate note I. A priori everything works normally except the 3G I can not recover when I leave WIFI. I have to turn OFF my notes in order to recover. Do you have this problem? thank you
I installed MODS different version V5. Can you reinstall eg XXLS7 version. If yes, in which directory the rom XXLS7 can we get the file?

Hi,
If you try to use CM 10/9 ROMs you will suffer from lags and battery drain due to following limitations of our ACE:
Less Ram (Min 512 MB req. for smooth performance with user apps installation)
Less power processor (its ARM5-787MHz only while ICS and JB need modern processors for smooth performance with user apps )
Limited battery (Only 1350MAh while ICS and JB need 1700-2000 MAh power house for a day long backup..while it also depends on user usage)
Thus, I will suggest you to flash CWM recovery 5.0.26 and then flash any CM 7.2 ROM / CUstom Stock ROMs of your choice.
Some best ROMs are :
Apo-K-lypse (new one :Genius version) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2444500
Ultimatum V 3.0 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2234221
You will get best performance, features and battery life with these ROMs.. much better than CM9/10 ROMs for our ACE.
All the best and comment again if you need any further help
Before flashing a ROM you must flash ClockWorkMod recovery. Once you installed CWM you must boot in recovery and then do the followings step:
1) wipe data/cache
2) advanced -> wipe dalvik cache
3) install zip from SD card
4) choose the zip and confirm
5) reboot
For the most stable cm10.1 I suggest you Cm10.1 by Maclaw or the last CM10.1 by androidarmv6 team.
My favourite is the second one !
These are pure CyanogenMod ROMs with no moddings. I don't like modded ROMs.
