Not sure if this is possible but if it is, I don't exactly know how to go about it. I'd like for beats to turn on only when I'm playing sound through the speakers. Not through headphones or through bluetooth. Only speaker. Whether in a phone call or YouTube. I imagine this could maybe be done through Tasker but I don't know how to go about it. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm pretty sure this is not possible. At least not with the stock rom.
Mmm I figured this would be a tough one. If anyone has any ideas, don't hesitate to share

If you download pimpmyrom from the playstore you can install a beats equalizer. It's very similar to dsp manager.

Other HTC roms in the past have had a toggle in the statusbar. Although I found out recently that sound out of the speakers was actually lower with beats on. It did sound deeper but not as loud and it's a pretty noticeable difference. On the other hand it makes headphones louder as you'd expect. I did install the Wildman kernel do I don't know if that has anything to do with it but I didn't turn beats off until after I flashed the kernel.
its possible with Tasker.

Have you done it or know how? I've been trying but am not familiar enough with tasker to figure how to set this up.

EDIT: I am not affiliated with this MOD at all, I'm simply spreading the word.
Alright, forget AwesomeBEATS, AC!D Soundmod and DSP Manager. I've been trying this out for a few weeks now, with incredible results. I have tested this on both Borked ROM and PACman, and works flawlessly on both so it should work on all ROMs available for our Vivid. The only bug I have noticed is the separate bluetooth settings don't seem to make a difference, it just uses the Headset settings. Here are the settings I've found with the best sound for me so far, it will make your ears happy.
V4A-FX Powered On- CHECKED
PlaybackAGC- Unchecked
FIR Equalizer- CHECKED- I use Vocal Booster
Convolver- CHECKED- srs_2_1_normal+headset.irs
Field Surround- CHECKED- Both set to Moderate
Reverberation- Unchecked
Dynamic System- CHECKED- I have Denon headphones so I select High-End, sometimes Extreme. I can tell a difference between the two.
Tube Simulator- CHECKED
Just read through the thread and you'll find the .irs files and what to do with them. Installation is super easy and makes a huge difference.

For our Vivid, choose A8Cortex with Neon when it does the initial driver setup.
If you have TitaniumBackup or can otherwise completely remove DSP Manager, I highly recommend this as to avoid conflicting settings.
thank you it works! my cm10 flashed vivid is so much louder and clear thanks again
I also want to point out my edit, if you can remove DSP manager from the system I recommend doing so, as its settings will conflict and deteriorate Viper's.
I'm glad you said something cus I deleted dsp manager and I'm using viper and I was gunna reflash the dsp manager since I think there's to much bass and music is a bid distorted.

I had already deleted DSP Manager with TiBU, loving Viper. My Vivid sounds like a high-end stereo now.
Thanks!

It really does turn your phone into a high-end preamp/mixer, the audio profiles you can create with a little tweaking are amazing. This is one of the best setups I've found so far, for my headphones and the cassette adapter in my car-
Headset-
Master Power- On
Playback Gain- Off
FIR Equalizer- On- Vocal Booster
Convolver- On- IRS I use is samsung_i9300_soundalive_11_virtualchannel7.1.irs
Field Surround- Off
Headphone Surround- Off in the car, On for headphones (sometimes)
Reverberation- Off
Dynamic System- On- Extreme Headphones(v2), 16% Dynamic Bass, Tube Simulator enabled
Fidelity Control- ViPER Bass- On- Natural Bass, 40hz, 3.5db, ViPER Clarity- On- OZone+, 3.5db
Auditory System Protection- Cure Tech- On, Moderate
Master Gate (Limiter)- 0db, 0db
Glad it's working out for you guys!

I started to install it but got stuck. When I go to put the apk in the system/app folder it says "has not been copied" but it does list it as there twice both having 0kb size
Does it have a huge difference compared to DSP Manager? and what are the difference?
considering trying this mod...
but i need to know how to uninstall this mod ...just incase i don't like it ....
(I'm currently rooted running a stock dedoxed rom... using beats audio and poweramp so headphone wise i have no issue with the sound, but sound through the phones speakers is just too low.)
I'm on 4.2.2 Unofficial Dirty Unicorn (7-18-13),
after flash the rom,on phone speaker, default bass was too heavy to make it sounds horrible, and the dsp manager didn't work.
but this MOD works great!
Really thanks for the info, it fixed my phone speaker problem
I'm probably in the minority here, but I REALLY enjoy Beats being turned on with Sense ROM's and I don't know if it's just an illusion but the music really does sound much more dynamic and impressive with it turned on. It's pretty much the only thing keeping me from dedicating myself to AOSP/AOKP.
So, I need to know if I'm going crazy or if the Beats software really is making that big of a difference. I wish I had an extra One with the same few tracks to test, but I don't.
In your experience, is Beats really making that much of an improvement, or has AOSP + DSP Manager been sufficient? Maybe an alternative to DSP Manager?

Beats extremely suck for electronic/rock/instrumental songs. They're pretty awesome for everything else Whether alternatives compare to it, no idea. Yet to unlock and root, gonna send mine back for a replacement for a faulty NFC chip~
In my opinion, beats is better

Transferring stuff? I'd rather have it working with no apps to make full use of it than to not have it working when the NFC system starts to take off more

Or is that totally closed source?
thanks.

Well you can't have that at least not on stock ROM. The beats audio feature only adds bit more bass so it's only useful with the headset anyway.

I've been looking for a solution like this for ages now, even the mighty tasker can't automate it. Will probably need to be implemented into a Rom by a custom dev.
For a while I had a tasker setting which would open settings as soon as I plugged in a headset but it got rather annoying

Hi. I am new to this forum, and I am also new in the realm of audio, so to speak. I have a Sprint HTC One, and I don't really like the sound of Beats all too well. I was wondering if Poweramp's EQ would damage the phone's speakers or if it is safe to use. I plan on using the presets, and I just want to make sure it is safe before I purchase the application.
Any and all help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Vobeyo
If you dont like beats, try turning it off to see if you like it better. If not, purchase poweramp and test it out for a few minutes. It shouldnt damage your speakers unless you over-do the preamp.
Thanks for the reply. Beats is all right, but it seems to only make things louder, not really better-sounding, if that makes any sense. Is there any control over the preamp in Poweramp? Please pardon my lack of knowledge, I am still learning.
Edit: I found the preamp control in Poweramp. If I turn it down will I be okay?

Yes, It should be fine. Enjoy!
on my last phones, when running CM10/11, they had a DSP manager app
seemed to be pretty standard on them
is there something like that will work for our flex? or they need CM framework or something
basically what im looking for is that equalizer option where u can tune just the bluetooth , i want to use the equalizer and add highs to it
ive seen some .aps for DSP around but 1) wasnt sure if it'll work on non-cm phones and 2)they all needed to be flashed
im rooted so i was wondering if it was some way to just push the .apk to the system directory
I been using noozxoide.....works great

Viper works great with Bluetooth. Has full range of effects/mods. Surround , vol enhancements. EQ is pretty good to. And it seems since it has its own drivers and embeds itself into root that it does a better job at sound clarity than anything off the play market the average user would download free. Check it out. Has separate interface for phone speaker,Bluetooth, and headset. There's all types of forums on XDA about it. I'd post a link but I'm not sure if its a paid thing or what and definitely don't wanna take away from the developer in any way.

Any reason why? It's just an app, not framework or anything right?
I've got viper installed on mine. I've had to factory reset a couple times due to modding but have installed it 3-4 times. No issue at all. It doesn't go as deep as framework so there's no worry of bricking. It sounds great with power amp pro. But with headphones or ear buds I use stock player since the Dolby digital hack sounds so good with ear buds.
