Options to wake? - Nexus 7 General

Hi guys.
Well recently i have seen alot of cool ways to wake the devices.
for example:
double tap screen.
the famous sweep to wake.
and probably there are more ways.
But sadly i didn't find any for our nexus.
i know it's kernel related and only a kernel dev could do it so it will be highly appreciated if someone manage to hack a wake up option. :fingers-crossed:

Slide to wake app? I like pressing the power button

Hello guys,
Do you know if theire is an app for waking up the nexus just by tapping or sliding on the back screen? Such app exist for thé galaxy nexus.
Thanks

Your title contradicts itself. You want to tap your phone to wake it.. But also like pressing the power button? Did you mean you "don't" like pressing the power button?
Tap to wake exists but it has to be baked into the kernel and it's really useless (imo).
The `feature' works by basically keeping the screen in a powered state.. Kernels that support this feature (which is becoming less and less and less) usually set it on a 15-45 second timer... You have X amount of time after putting your phone to sleep that touch to wake will work.. After that time elapses your screen is fully powered off and touch to wake will no longer work. If this feature existed 24/7 you'd be going through batteries like crazy.
Hum ok dude thx for that answer, I want this function but il like more battery life...
Do you know any app waking the screen by capting motion with the camera? Or using any other sensors available on the nexus for doing so?

tbh not sure. I imagine someone could use the proximity sensor (which I don't think the N7 even has) but using that would cause so many false wakes by sliding it in and out of cases, etc it would also be useless.
Your only solution with the N7 is wearing a magnetic glove and waving your hand across the bottom left of the unit.
Yeah or by implementing a magnet on one of my finger... I don't find the accès to the power button very easy thought

That's not necessarily so. PGM on the Nexus doesn't appear to work like that at all, though since it's proprietary, we don't know exactly how it works. It certainly doesn't chew up any more juice on my Gnex, nor does it cause wakelocks.
showp1984 is working on something similar for his N7 bricked kernel.

Gotcha, if that is your problem you could always use a ROM that has volume wake.. AOKP does for sure, CM10 does I believe (someone confirm) and probably others.. Enabling it will let you wake the phone using the power button or the volume rocker.. This will obviously will interfere with anything allowing you to use the volume rocker to advanced to the next song etc while the phone is asleep. This way you basically have 3 buttons to wake up the phone instead of finding `the one'.

Interesting. Learn something new every day. :good: I stand corrected
I would also like a slide to wake. Having it on my galaxy Nexus means I try it on my 7 about once a day.

[Q] Can vibration intensity be changed?

Any way to change it cos with those kick ass speakers, it vibrates the whole building when it goes off!
I'd be interested in knowing this. It is a bit extreme haha
I hope so it's louder than just having a ringtone!
Maybe this will be possible with a custom Kernel
i would like to know as well, its quite intens now
When it's on a desk it's really bad! Any update on this?
Exactly! I had to turn off anything and everything that had vibration it's ugly.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
So has anyone found a fix? Preferably non root .
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
Been looking for a fix to this myself with no luck. The vibration on this phone is a little too intense. Would like to take it down a notch myself.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Found a fix! But you'll need to be rooted. You then need to install faux's kernel and the FauxClock app from Playstore and then you can adjust vibration intensity.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
any news about the vibration intensity? i would like to reduce the strengt
atm seems like faux kernel + fauxclock is the only option
Any way to do this on a stock ROM?
Use CM

I used to have CM11 installed, and with that you could change the intensity, but that option is not available using Sense
Solution - NO ROOT!!!
GUYS! There is a method to fix the vibration with NO ROOT!!!
This method will turn off "notification buzz" on any apps you choose (aka all of them) while leaving haptic feedback.
Instructions: Be running Android 4.3 or something close. Launch App-ops by starting an activity, you can do this via an App-ops launcher free from Play Store or a simple Tasker task. Go through all your apps an untick the "Vibration" permission!
I hope this helps many people, please say thanks if this helped! :good:

[App] Soft Buttons Lights always on!

New here in the HTC one area so please forgive me if this topic was already covered. Being new to the HTC phone I wasn't liking the soft button lights turning off during the day light so this app basically keeps button backlight always on, as long as the screen is on.
Confirmed working with HTC one. KiNDA

UPDATE: The soft lights turn off on occasion and I have to toggle the power button to turn the light back on. Bug I guess but quick minor temp fix by hitting the button
UPDATE 7-/4/13: According to solid.snake (see quote below), Capacitive Buttons Brightness Works well

Xperia Tablet Z - Tap to Wake - Is it possible on our Z ?

Hi guys,
Just wanna ask if anyone is working on porting the "Tap to Wake" feature of the Xperia Tablet Z to our Z.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rm9cjyvHuLg
It's a neat feature and I'm not sure if there's a hardware limitations involved here.
I just came in to look for this port exactly.
Unfortunately, my very limited dev skills aren't up to this.
Should be possible though I think.

You can Try Using Play Store App. "Proximity Actions" It gives same type of function but using the Proximity sensors. Like you Wave your hand infront of the device and it will wake up. Same if the screen is on you can wave your hand and it will turn off the screen and lock.

Using this too, but not as good as the pgm when I had the nexus. We need a custom kernel for the pgm to work
You can use tap to wake with eXperience Pro
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2225790
There's a bug, though...
Sorry, but none of them work with stock xperia z kernels.
Neither eXperience nor pgm.
Tried both
Ya, tap to wake up feature in Xperia Tablet Z is working perfectly great.
Hope some expert can port it out for Xperia Z?

Question (REQUEST)(AOSP)(KERNEL FEATURE) Proximity wake up screen

Hi to all of you! I already posted this on One general but i didn't get any answer.
I don't know if this is even possible but i'am looking for a feature that can wake screen on using proximity sensor. I'm using HTC original cover and i'd like my screen to wake up when i open it.
I've tried a lot of apps, but the don't fit my use: they are not reliable. I mean the sometimes don't work, need a reboot or to open the app again.
Since there is stuff like L2W S2W, i was asking myself if this was even possible to add as an optionnal funcion.
I'd be happy to be a beta tester is sombody wanted to try this!
here's my conf:
Android 4.3
Radio: 4a.20
Carbon Nightly.
If you need anything else, i'd be on the starting block to give you further informations you can need.
Sorry for my english mistakes, not my native langage
Here.

Thanks to both of you. I already tried them and it's the same. I didn't find them reliable.
