Hello.
After root and update my ICS 4.0.4 to v2_c_o_h_s_XXLT4_Lite_Snote2 I got a Yellow triangle in boot menu.
Saw some posts in xda and and installed a old version rom GB 2.3, using the app "triangle away" to reset counter and it worked. After this installed back the v2_c_o_h_s_XXLT4_Lite_Snote2 and v2.1 update. Now I'm having an issue about SIM PIN pop window, it doesn't come on. Tried full wipe data, Live note 4 ROM and the problem remain. The only ways to get SIM card working is removing PIN in security menu or deactivate and activate sim pin in that menu in order to register to sim network. Anyone had this issue or have a solution for this kind of "problem". Before, with first ROM this didn't happened.
Sorry about english. Hoppe you understand.
Regards.
Please check your IMEI. Does it start with 00049...?
(And do not post your complete IMEI...)
Hi. Yes, it starts with 0049, why?

Then you will become a user of my Custom Rom , because I have the same problem and solved it for me with a workaround.
From the start:
You ruined your EFS and so your IMEI is a so called "developer IMEI" now. See your original number inside of your device (remove battery). If you didn't backup the EFS you can't repair the IMEI yourself.
There is one polish guy who can repair IMEI remotely (www.cvxcvx.pl) - he takes some money for it.
As a workaround you have to use an android.policy.jar from one of the early JB dumps (I use it with my Custom Rom). Then the Sim card is recognized after booting and you get network connection.
If you do not use this you only can disable the pin check
or
change the sim pin (simply use the old one as new one, so you do not have to remember a new number).
Really?...
I didn't knowed! And if I install a stock rom, it will remain the issue?
So, the only solution is to have the phone without sim pin? (I didn't made any efs recovery if I'm rememeber).
Do you think it could be the "triangle away" app that made it?

Yes, it remains.
No, the other solution is to change the pin after every restart. Or use my Custom Rom.
And: please no PM when you simply should ask in the forum - I do not know how much you have to pay for a repair.
Sorry about it, didn't know I can ask about values here in post. And your custom rom is posted here in xda forum?
I didn't looked at imei under battery. Custom rom changed my IMEI .
Now I understood all history/idea.
It means there are more than one cell with same Imei, right?

I flashed to Milky's ROM on i9000m using odin, and it boot looped, so I flashed with Milky's but no modem. And then flashed a modem. it booted but I had no service. I then tried 10 or so stock firmwares, and none did the trick. I finally fix my product code to get Kies to update, and kies updated to the newest gingerbread. But even after that, I still have no service. Does anyone know whats going on? Is the phone ruined?
ANY help would be greatly appreciated, I spent over 48 hours on this already, and I can't do it myself anymore.
Ok, I had this issue with mine, now I semi bricked my i9000 flashing modems to try and fix this issue, but i had to take it to a shop, i saw this on his screen on a Simpley Honey Rom on XDA.
HOW TO CHANGE THE CSC WITH YOUR COUNTRY CODE:
- Into the DIALER write *#272*XXXXXXXXXXXX# where X series is your IMEI (show the IMEI with *#06#)
- Select your country CODE
- Click on INSTALL
- Wait until it reboots and it do a wipe (automatically)
- Do the first boot
- Enjoy!
But find out ure country code first. And do not try this if ure unsure, remember Im saying I saw a guy that owns a Phone repair shop do it with my phone.

Yeah, gotta agree with zombie. It would be the same as posting your social security.
There are apps that do this. Just remember to BACK UP your EFS folder. Like back it un phone and computer and w/e other place. If your EFS folder gets jacked up you probably lost your IMEI and you will need to send to to someone to rebuild it.

Hai pals. Greetings to you.
I get one used galaxy note.
After i turn on the phone(With a inactive sim) i saw that there are some security measurements in that phone like Sending messages when changing the sim, Samsung's famous Mobile tracker etc.
All i need is.,
1. Is there any way to remove those settings by flashing custom ROMS or upgreade/degrade it legally.
2. I want it to be as new as factory made. Is there any possibilities.?
Please put your valuable suggestion here. Im total nOOb for this android things.

factory condition I mean when device is new. Just after you buy it. With no backup of when you had imei, there is no way on getting it back, to my knowledge, without using expensive equiptment and skills like cvxcvx. Samsung itself should be able to do it to.
If you dont mess with device and only do ota/kies updates you dont need it. However when starting to do warrantee breaking stuff like custom roms, even pcodin official ones you need it.
how to: at own risk:
root device, use app like ktool, or alternatives.
Efs backup, is one of the important parts most forgotten as no backup tool does is with other backups.
You can get Samsung, at own risk to fix it too, lol

When you have changed emei youre pretty much screwed. However, a different phone can behave differently. even if same brand model etc. logic is dependant on many variables.
Never seen case of rom corruption changing imei but not efs, with flashback to different rom efs working again. Would be cool if that works for some
No1 you can test that ofc.

If you want to spend money, the z3x box and software can change the imei to what ever you want but the box is $120. I know the box works because my N7000 is using a dumb phone imei. I'm sure there is a way to do it without the box. In using the box, part of it requires flashing GB 2.3.5, so maybe the commands in this video will work worth the 2.3.5, I know they don't on ics.

10 bucks or 120, pick you poison. I wouldn't recommend the 120, cause its pretty difficult to set up, and you only need it once,if your smart lol.
Id recommend to go to Samsung, or cvxcvx as he has good rep on xda and elsewhere.
You might also want to recover pcode if your efs is bust lol. For updatability purposes.
Anyway be careful as it may be illegal to change imei, even if back to original.
If method in first movie works for n7000 its a good find. I wouldn't count on it thought.

No I agree, $120 is pricey, I did it out of expedience and at time I could not find much info about doing it. SoFar I have used it on 4 phones so it was not $120 out the window. When using it, it seems like they are using adb.
As for the OP, he probably just copied his efs folder and then tried to replace it when the orig got fubared. Before I did my mod, I read in a couple of places that just copying the efs folder is hit and miss. I use EFSPro to back up my EFS. I have three different imei's backed up, so if one gets banned, I just connect to a computer and flash another one, 30 seconds and I'm good to go.
Please guys, if your a flashaholic or your going to play with your efs, back it up with a proven app or learn to use DD and backup with it. Link to EFSpro:
Sorry if I've been late on replaying to your comments guys, but I 'm so busy with exams.

Have you tried it downgrading to GB? I suppose that's where your phone was working, right? Do you still have the warranty, if yes, flash everything back to stock and than try to send it to Samsung, but it can be that you phone regains the IMEI and other info back, have read this from similar threads from multiple devices with the same problem.

My phone was neverlocked, and it's multi-region, the original firmware had the same code as the Hong Kong phones, and I am located in Europe.
When I flashed this Russian JB rom, I got a warning message on the phone: WARNING: Custom Modem ! ...very strange !
That custom modem is responsable for the whole issue. Unfortunately my knowledge is limited and I'm unable to help you.
Still, my advice is the same: flash GB, reset that counter and go to samsung service. Probably they will discover that you flashed another FW, but at least you'll know if and how it can be repaired.
