I'm tired of people bashing on these devs hard work, they have given so much and all you all can do is say how unstable the ROM is, if you don't like it don't use it. Because of your greediness it appears camcory has left, he will not receive messages and his most popular ROM thread has been closed. From now on if you run into a problem with a ROM, state the problem, not you personal opinion about the ROM. Why do you all think jocala doesn't dev anymore?
I'm done ranting for now but you all need to start respecting these devs before we lose them!

That's fine what you're saying but again, this is where I have issues. If all people want to hear is how great they are or their work is always perfect they are doing it for the wrong reasons. People who do nothing but praise are called "fanboys" and don't contribute any useful info. If people are name calling or trashing somebody's work that's different. Anytime I mention issues I am always specific with what they are.
I have mentioned my gratitude many times but if that's all that people want to hear these forums are useless.

Same goes for the questions that get repeated. Too many people want someone to come running to their aid. We were all noobs at one time, we learn by reading posts and trying ourselves. I just recently reread the rules and all of this is talked about there. I always appreciate our Developers and the work they release, even if it never leaves Alfa stage. I also appreciate the members who take the time to help others and offer good suggestions on a fix, or workaround. We should all keep in mind this question, if I were a Dev, would I want to deal with this?

cam hasnt left. he was just busy dev-ing for the aoip ROM, which is very smooth and functional btw

You are dead on about people harping on the same old crap all the time or saying "when is it going to be fixed?" They should just be ignored and eventually they will go away hopefully. It also doesn't help when so many senior members who had good comments to offer most of the time are now gone.

It's true that a lot of people don't do their research before asking questions. But what I find even worse is when people respond with answers like 2 weeks or bashing the person asking the question. I find it would be easier to just ignore or direct them to q&a rather than cluttering the development threads.

Some people respond with "2 weeks" when ETAs are asked by another user, which is considered a major faux pas. I do agree however that when ETAs come up no one should respond. I also don't think anyone should be bashed however it's hard when you get some who just flat demand things and act like a Dev is asleep at the wheel or negligent for not posting a fix or update. It's hard to believe people actually will say stuff like "when you gonna fix it, huh?" Yes, that kind of English too.
It's like a hundred dswaggz going around asking them to fix the problem (originally he asked for ports, hey just saying XD)

I think this place is great! I haven't posted much because I'm not a dev. I have little to contribute other than my testing experiences and the occasional $5.
A year ago I would have told you rooting is pointless and custom ROMs are dangerous, but I've had a hugely positive experience with XDA and the roms these devs have released. Given the wide user appeal the site offers,(remember this is something for free, rare these days,) you can't hate on the people that don't get it.
It seems like XDA draws both those that have the open source mindset, and a very small minority of people that have no idea how a cell phone works, or could change a tire for that matter. They don't know what kind of time and effort goes into software and they don't care to know. These are people that can't help themselves. They see something cool and they want it.
Remember though, this is a small portion of people, so a better statement here, I think would be "occasionally, one of you is greedy."

And how hard can it be to click the thanks button? I do it for every OP when I use their ROM or their work or whatever. But when I have my own work viewed over 50 thousand times and downloaded over 1500 times, and receive 75 thanks, then have people ask if I can do this or that or fix this or that, most of THEM not clicking "thanks," I understand how frustrating it can be...

Please don't say that. The user set up multiple accounts without Melvin s permission and started thanking Melvin on those accounts. Melvin did not approve of that.

I'm curious on how he was able to continue updating Beastmod if he was kanging from that get go from what people say. Kanging is a no no here at XDA so where were that mods then.
In my opinion every dev kangs at one point or another.
So does this mean we should ban all of them then? Where would XDA be at then.
But he was wrong for creating accounts to help him get devices and thanks.
Lucky for us there are other websites for us to get the rom.

I can't believe nobody ever noticed this but Melvin used to use a different name here on xda.. Bosina... And his roms were also called Beast Mod. He was always in trouble for kanging roms for the MT4G

Lol, they noticed alright! That's why he's banned. But unless people own different devices at once, its hard to see if people have different name. I never knew about Melvin until now.

For the most part I don't think the better developers don't waist their time downloading and checking out junior developers work, looking for stolen work.
And apparently, when it is brought to their attention, as in this case, they try to work through it quietly and professionally. But if the kanger, don't do the right thing and man up,, things get ugly!
Also
If you get kanged from and make it a public scene, no matter what you do, you are going to end up looking bad and soiling your rep.
It's best to be quiet, get the evidence, and let the mods handle it!
Melvin messed up royally!
He is a smart guy, he will learn from this and be back bigger and better than ever!

Melvin was kanging heavily from Team Kang. He copied and pasted Juggernaut and themed it. If you are a Beastmod user, flash Juggernaut and you'll see. Also he did not recieve permissions from Team Kang to use their work.

I highly think that everybody deserve's a second chance , he got caught but he's not the only one that has done it & i think that he should not recieve a two year ban for kanging i think he should recieve a month or so , i feel that , it's just too long of a time period .

Yes, life does take up time, as all know just like the rest, us Moderators have lives and sometimes that consumes more of the XDA time . We are hobbyist just like you and we are volunteers just like others on this great Forum.
But for future requests or issues, the report button is there if needed, or a PM to all on the Moderation Team as you can use the term "shotgun effect", you will hit something...:fingers-crossed:

Do we mind helping people if they need it? Of course not, otherwise Q&A sections wouldn't exist BUT we expect users to also help themselves.
Over the last couple of days, I've noticed you've created a fair few threads asking questions which can easily be solved by searching. Believe me, searching works. It's not just there to look pretty.
You'll manage to learn and know a lot more if you actually search for the answer yourself. Plus you may get that extra good feeling inside because you've been able to answer your own questions without having to ask other people all the time.

That went well.
With all the tech genius on the forum I was wondering if anyone could change the stock Walkman widget a little. Basically it's a bit out of place on my home screen with its dark background as all my widgets have no background.
Could it be changed to clear? Before its mentioned, no I don't want to use a different widget for it. I like the Walkman one.
I'm running Xperia Launcher 2.0.5b found on the forum. I can't find the link to the thread again though. I'm on a C6603, 4.1.2, locked bootloader.
I'm using the launcher as I like the extra little bit of customisation over the stock home. But would go back if needed
I hope someone can help.

Even though I was talking in general about your suggestion that everyone should need to be told how to behave properly (they already are, by the way, in the forum rules, read them), is that a proper way to behave when you're asking for help from people that work for free? Or even the proper way to behave in public? I think not.
As for everyone being a noob to begin with; that does not entitle anyone to behave inappropriately and ***** and moan if they don't get what they demand.
