[Q] Droid Bionic on ICS 6.7.246 to GSM - Motorola Droid Bionic

Hi all,
My friend has found this phone in The USA but he lives in Argentina. I have done a lot of research and fortunately there seems to be a way to make this Droid work on GSM bands. The problem is that i am all mixed up. I have read that I have to install the leaked version of ICS (6.13.219). My question is, how can I do that? That means doing a downgrade? Should I go back to GB?
Thanks in advance!

um there is no .219 for the US - I would suggest doing a search on "flashing bionic to GSM" - it should now be possible with the jellybean OTA.

What SBF?

I have a Milestone with Viaero. A small company in the middle of the US. They have GSM version of the Mileston but I don't know which. Is there a way to tell what SBF file to use? Thanks for the help guys.

The quickest thing is to check the FCCID in the battery compartment:
IHDP56KC1: CDMA (this is the Droid, rather than a milestone)
IHDP56KC2: Dual band 2100/900MHz UMTS, Quad band GSM
IHDP56KC5: Triple band 850/1900/2100MHz UMTS, Quad band GSM
Since you are in the US, it's very likely that you have the KC5 version, and should use the North America/Latin America versions.
Or you can install any version you like, and then update the radio files to the correct ones.
sorry it took so long I just checked and I have the KC2. What would you recommend? Can I get a link on how to flash the radio? Thank you

I'm not sure, but IF it is the milestone, you can try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932196
This is my thread which tells you how to install a leaked 2.2.1 file, root, and get into androidani recovery. There are baseband options in androidani open recovery.
ONLY IF IT IS A MILESTONE!!!!!! and im pretty sure the baseband options are all gsm. Also, there is a list of mostly all the roms available right now (most). Good luck!

[Q] Milestone with US ATT Custom ROM

I have been looking for an answer to this and if it has been answered before, point me to the thread.
I'm using a Telus Milestone here in the US with ATT. I have GOT OR 2.01 loaded on my milestone and it's rooted in everything. Now the next step would be to pick a firmware for 2.2.1. However, There is nothing listed for ATT or US at all for that matter.
Should I use Telus's Firmware? And will it still work with ATT? I want to load some custom roms, but I'm a bit stuck. Thanks for any input.
You should use Telus firmware. Or any firmware you like, but flash Telus baseband on top in order to get it working on AT&T
Check in milestone Android development thread, there are few choices available (roms), pick one. There is still no official Froyo rom for Milestone though. Most of the custom roms available are nearly fully functional.
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL
Thank you very much. I wanted to try it, but I didn't want to guess, be wrong, and be screwed. Thats all I needed!

[Q] Debrand T-Mobile

Hi all, I'm approaching to the world of htc hd7 for the first time... I' m waiting for my new htc hd7 t-mobile coming in a few days and I'm asking if there's any way to debrand it and install a clean european rom with my language (I'm from Italy)... Can you tell me where to find the instructions and which is the last european rom? thanks in advance.
Andrea.
I mean "unbrand" not debrand

I have almost the same issue. I'm brazillian and the English keyboard doesn't have "ã" and "õ" characteres... I want to use Spanish keyboard because of this, so... Anyone could help?
Is it a US T-Mobile HD7?
If so, I believe a goldcard is the only way to debrand. See this thread.
I'm still trying to figure out if the benefits (quicker updates, etc.) outweigh the issues introduced by using a European radio.

Yes It's a T-Mobile US, I looked at that thread... It's not so easy and It needs some items as an usb y-cable, a sd card, a card reader, another smartphone with android...
thanks anyway...

{Q} Anyone else just tired of the BS brick situation?

I sometimes feel like just getting rid of it...Ever since the leak kernel came out and people bricking their Note..now I am afraid to flash and do something wrong...I am sure just flash with abyss kernel will not brick it..but getting to flash a stock ICS is a pain period.
count me IN. hate all this BS
they say the europe ICS is being patched and hopefully to release soon(just a rumor)

motorola atrix 4g. was with gingerbread though, not ICS. if you flash/update to official gingerbread, flashing back to 2.2.2 would result in a hard brick. flashing to a different version of official gingerbread would also result in a hardbrick.
i took my phone to a service center, told them that they should avoid flashing my phone unless they wanted to replace it for me. they flashed the australian firmware over the original AT&T firmware, and bricked my device. they ended up having to buy me a new atrix.
What brick BS are you talking about (I have an AT&T) Note are you talking about the international version? I rooted my phone and installed a very nice ICS 4.0.4 ROM? I used the same type methods as all the other Galaxy roots and flashing.

I have the atrix in my arsenal. I hard bricked by Atrix with the whole SBF flash thing. Contacted motorola and told them it was an official update that did it. So, I sent it back to them and it took them several weeks but I finally got it back with another motherboard.

This is the international Note forum, so yes we are talking about the international Note NOT the ATT Note. And as far as we know right now, the ATT note is safe from bricks. Now, before you mess up your phone, you can go back to the ATT Note forum now and flash YOUR ROMs.

GSM/UMTS update question

Hi there,
I recently purchased a verizon droid 3. I have unlocked, flashed a gsm radio via this guide, rooted, and installed safestrap on my device.
In system info, I see that I am running version 57.1.60.XT883.chinaTelecom.en.CN.
On my device, if I check for available OTA updates, I see I am able to install 60.3.25.en.CN. Should I install this?
I wish to install MavROM using the new base. Is this possible/advisable? Will I ever, in the future, regret being stuck and unable to downgrade from 60.3.250.en.CN?
I apologise if this info is already on other threads, but I have browsed around for a while now and I am confused.
Thank you lovely people!
Peace

Do not install (would likely fail verification if you tried anyway) because flashing a chinese update on a us verizon rom is bad.
Otherwise, search the forum for safesgrap 2.10 for the droid 3, install it, switch to safe mode and feel free to flash mavrom. I currently use the xt883 radio mod with mavrom 4.0 (4.5 drains battery a bit too quick and there is no difference between them except overclock scripts)
The version number you see is just aesthetic, it is being read and displayed from the build.prop, but must have it as xt883 for the radio to work.

Thanks for the info!
So should I update to .906 before flashing mavrom and the xt883 radio? I'm not sure what my current base is.
