[Q] STOCK ICS - Status Bar lag. - Galaxy Tab 8.9 General

Welcome.
I have a question for you.
Well, I have your P7310 stock ics and I have a little problem.
Well, on the desktop and drawer status bar just lags - lack of liquidity.
Complete declines animation.
In any other application running smoothly just a launcher lag.
Do you also have such problems.
Is there any possibility of swapping statusbar from another rom eg AOSP CM10.1?

The easiest thing to try would be a different launcher. I like Holo HD, but there are other good ones too. You can try replacing the SystemUI.apk, but you need to replace two libraries as well. AAccount posted them in one of his threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38088583&postcount=1135
You will need root access, and a root browser type app, and this may make your system unstable, so I would recommend installing a custom recovery and making a nandroid backup first.

Of course I have tried other launcher.
Only in Nova Launcher it a little better:
Desktop - the status bar work really bad
Drawer - the status bar work perfetct
Only issue with desktop :/
Tried to replace the files that are above?
This helped to something.
And one more thing.
What is the exact path of the files.
All I know is that you must put the SystemUI.apk to system / app
And the rest of the files do not know where to move.
I would ask for a little help.
I have a custom recovery, backup made so I am calm.
Now, the question is not about.
I was happy to at CM10.1 RC2 but unfortunately it seems STOCK ICS is faster as can be seen in games.
Is throwing another kernel to be something CM10.1 helped performance in games, etc.
Sorry for bad english

You could try to change animation speed in developers options, and/or you could try Addem1234's CM9-ROM (with AA's 1.8.7-kernel).

I believe they go in system/framework.
I have had no problems with lag with CM10.1 and it's default kernel, even in games. I just had to use extended desktop to hide the nav bar and set the status bar to autohide. In addition, I overclocked and made various memory tweaks, as well as installed crossbreeder. Finally, I don't use the persistent search bar, but I add the widget separately to all of my screens. Each of these things may have helped a little or not at all, but all together, they give me a system with which I am very happy.
I used all these same settings on cm9, and I see little to no difference.

Addem1234 cm-9 is faster than CM10.1 C-o-M ?

Last time I tried: Yes.
Sent from my GT-P7310 using xda app-developers app

I think they are pretty comparable when I get them set up properly. CM9 is starting from a faster place, I will grant that. In a fully optimized configuration, I am hard pressed to see a significant difference.

[CLOSED 12/20/2010] [ROM] SK-ROM Beta v0.3

SK-ROM Beta 0.3
This beta is now closed, as I am about to launch Magnolia RC1, the first release candidate for this ROM. Thanks to all who have tried out the ROm for their support and input.
Steve
ROM Features:
Based on stock HTC Sense/Froyo OTA v3.26.605.
Uses latest stock HTC kernel to help alleviate battery drain.
"Matte" Sense UI. I completely redid all "shiny" elements of the Sense UI (including green highlights), status bar and HTC apps to make then smoother, more refined and professional looking (IMHO).
Added notification pulldown power widgets, custom skinned by me. Thanks to |||bored|||, dopeshiziot and JSCHiSurf for this.
Apps softkey (left softkey) is mapped to Maxim's AppFolders, a fully customizable app drawer that I have come to depend on, since I first saw it implemented in deficitism's Uncommon Sense. A BIG nod to deficitism for both the idea and the tools to figure out how to do this.
Right softkey mapped to browser (will consider other mappings if there is interest). Thanks to JsChiSurf for the tools to learn how this is done.
Added battery percentage mod and smooth sense icons. Thanks to jercik for these.
Added 6-Bar signal meter. Thanks to deficitism for the tools to learn how this is done.
3-in-1 power menu (reboot option) by snq-
Replaced HTC Car Panel with Google CarHome.
Transparent clock background (flip from HD, for now...) and settings/profile widget backgrounds. Props to HeyItsLou for the inspiration for these.
Made the lockscreen and rosie navbar transparent, and the statusbar pulldown semi-transparent. Thanks to shoey-n for the services.jar mod to allow this.
Slight graphical mods to dialer to make it easier to see and use (IMHO).
All framework and resources images were compressed and optimized to maximize RAM.
Statusbar clock, alarm, debugging and location icons are hidden by default. I have attached Zip files to post #3 to add these back, if desired. Thanks to pardonmyfreedom for the tutorial on how to do this.
Removed what seems to be agreed upon as bloat from the ROM (e.g., Vcast, Footprints, etc.). Other quasi-bloat apps (e.g., VZWBAC, Quickoffice) are in data/app/ and can be uninstalled.
Blue spinning android boot animation from Natemz over at androidcentral.com.
ROM is fully deodexed, zipaligned and rooted.

Known Bugs
For some reason the newest Gmail (2.3.2) won't intall over the version included in Beta 0.3 I posted earlier. Seems that this is not an uncommon problem with various ROMs. I have, as of 11:30 PM EST 12/12/10, uploaded the fixed ROM with the latest Gmail (same download link as before). So, if you are new to the ROM, no worries, the latest version is included. If you already have v0.3 installed, many apologies, but you will need to reflash if you want to have Gmail 2.3.2.
----------------
I have been a member of XDA for a long time, and I recently switched from WM to Android. I have been messing around with some ROMs for my own use over the past month or so, and figured it was time to release a ROM into the wild in hopes that the community can help me make it into something on a higher plane than I can do on my own.
The ROM is based on the stock HTC Sense/Froyo OTA v3.26.605.1 that I pulled from the always excellent virtuousrom.com. By painstakingly analyzing what the wonderful devs on this site have been up to via countless "diff" commands and analyzing smali files until my eyes hurt, I rebuilt/modded the ROMs framework and apps to make the ROM I have been looking for.
I want to state that, while I did my own coding/theming and implemented the features of this ROM slightly differently than the devs I learned them from, I owe ALL of this ROM to those devs' hard work an ingenuity. All I did was learn what they were doing and figure out how to make it work the way I wanted.
I also want to note again that I am very new to cooking (have been a themer mostly) and this ROM is BETA. While I have found it to be stable for my own personal use, I cannot say it will be for you. Therefore, download and flash at your own risk, for I take NO responsibility for what happens to your phone if you install this ROM.
Again, I want to state that I owe all of the devs listed above for their hard work and ingenuity, without which I would not know how to do any of this. If anyone believes I have not credited someone I should have, please shoot me a PM and I will correct my error. Similarly, if I have unintentionally violated acceptable etiquette in any way, please let me know via PM, and I will try to fix the problem.
Install by downloading the ROM to your SD card (or copy it there from PC) and rebooting into recovery, WIPING data and cache (I wipe dalvik cache, as well) and selecting the "install from sdcard" option. It takes a while on the first bootup, so please be patient.
**NB- there have been extensive changes to the framework in version 0.3, so I recommend a full wipe, even if you have 0.2 installed.**
Please enjoy, and I hope to receive your feedback, help and ideas for improvement. I believe this will be the last beta before RC1, unless there is something I am missing
Steve
Changelog
Beta v0.3
I plan this to be the last beta before releasing RC1 under a new, better name. So, please, any bug reports, comments are welcome. Thanks.
Added custom skinned status/notification bar power control widgets. Credits in 1st post.
replaced Ziggy's kernel with latest HTC stock kernel. Didn't feel performance bump was worth battery drain.
Fixed 6-bar signal being limited to only 4-bars. Thanks to |||bored||| for reminding me of this.
Many small framework and resources tweaks.
Beta v0.2
Fixed sync notification animation
Added 6-bar signal meter
Added data/app functionality to allow for uninstalling some apps that might be considered bloat.
Updated gapps.
Added Zip files to post #3 to allow customization of icons shown in status bar.
Reserved
OK. Sorry for the wait. The status bar icon show/hide files are now attached. I tested each briefly, so they should be fine, but nandroid before flashing, just in case.
Steve
nice to have you over on our side, any chance of getting that wallpaper?

Here you go...
Wow! This looks great! Amazing features for a beta at V 0.1 haha. I'm definitely gonna switch from the latest skyraider to this. Thanks for the hard work on this man! Hope to see you around more, hopefully updating this thing of beauty with even more features!
I'm stoked to try this out!! I can't download it from my phone for some reason tho. Can you put a mirror up?
Are there any known bugs?
love the matte look.. will keep an eye on this. how does the call answer lock look like? is it matte also or transparent? any plans on implementing the 6 signal bar? and could you elaborate on the easier to use dialer?

The only "bug" I know is that the animated sync icon isn't working yet. I am sure some will come up, though, as I haven't used every app/feature of the phone.

Yep. I am just getting into the services.jar files to see how this is done. Hopefully in a few days I will have it. I would like to learn how it works rather than just copy it over from someone else.

As to the call answer, it's transparent. I was toying with replacing the android guy, but couldn't settle on a picture.
As to the dialer mod, it's just a graphical mod to make the keys and dialing text easier to read. Sorry, should have been clearer...

So far this rom is running great! One minor gripe, about 50% of the time when I unlock the phone, I get the "Sorry, android.mms.apk has force closed" or whatever. I'm sure it can easily be fixed with a patch though, because I've seen a bunch of other MMS fixes on lots of other peoples roms. Other than that this rom is fluid, fast, and very easy on the eyes. Love it.
Is Visual Voice Mail removed from this? I know some people consider it bloat, I consider it essential.
I have been running it for two hours now - working great!
It does have VVM. I use it, too.
As the the mms force close, I have also seen this on other ROM threads, hasn't happened to me on this one, though. Will work on a fix tomorrow. Thanks for pointing that out.

As to the MMS FC issue, may I ask a few questions: Have you tried fixing permissions in recovery? Did you use Titanium backup to restore your text messages? Have you ever had apps installed on your SD card?
Thanks!
Steve
I've never used titanium back up, I've never had apps installed on my sd card, but no i have not tried fixing permissions.
It only did it for the first day or so. It's perfectly fine now. I'll try fixing permissions though.

Been testing this for a couple days now, and it is pretty sweet! I'm glad it's released for all to try and hopefully this makes it big time
The one big thing I didn't like at first (personally) was the homescreen rotations, but found out how to turn that off pretty quickly. Other than that, I have no gripes. Give it a try guys/girls. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Mark, +1 on the progress bar for downloads. Noticed that last night...
Just a couple screens from my setup. I love the 3d transition setting!

You talk me up too much, but thank you. And hopefully i get the themeing down a little more. I'd like a better battery for sure, and some other little things here and there.
Gonna give this a try in a bit, but here's a modded SystemUI.apk removing the clock from the status bar. I like my real-estate up there, so I thought I'd share. I do it for every ROM, hope it's cool. It's the only thing modded in it, I'm gonna test it in about 30 minutes.
Nice, excited to see where this goes. Though I would be cautious about including LauncherPro with your rom. I did the same with mine, but was informed after the fact that it goes against his accepted use policy.
going to donwload now and install and give this a shot. Ive been looking for a new senseless ROM ever since SkyRaider no longer has support.
Ill let you know everything that may or may not go wrong =)

I saw that, and was wondering if that would be problematic for the OP.
i figured since i used the free version of Launcher Pro it wouldnt cause problems, if it does, i'll swap it out (hopefully without hassle). Thanks guys, i look forward to your feedback.
A side note, i've been getting decent battery life with fairly heavy use, about 7 hours.
I was getting pretty good battery as well. Until I installed Plants vs. Zombies again.... Lol but no, it's running pretty good. Charging has decent speed as well. Some kernels I had seen before took almost longer to charge the battery as it did to drain it with normal usage....

[Q] flash buil.prop through CWM ?

Hi, is it possible to flash buil.prop through CWM ? The idea is I would like to play with the DPI, but I know some values can mess up the system so that the ROM doesn't boot anymore. So the idea is to have a safe and working build.prop as flashable through VWM so that I can experiment without the threat of having to reinstall the whole ROM.
Is that doable ? and would it be sufficient to boot again on a ROM if I put a bad value as DPI ?
Thanks
I may be wrong, but afair one of the DPI apps available on Market, had an option whether to reapply the change on boot
if I'm correct, then you could test the density without risk
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
I didn't find the app (searched for "DPI" and "density") but one of the app had a description saying you can restore build.pro through adb...so i'll look in that direction.
LCD density will allow you to test a dpi before applying it. Its on play store.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Well, it almost works. I'm on (TW based) Criskelo's v8, changed the DPI to 213, first with LCD density and then with ROM toolbox. I thought it would just boot loop, but
- except for touchwiz, launchers (Go, zeam, adw, apex (small area usuable on desktop though, but maybe it's supposed to work that way)) are ok,
- the s-apps I want work ok : camera, FM radio (I tried S-memo just for the sake of it, it has that well known lines problem)
- s-calendar was replaced by AOSP calendar and it works fine..though I don't see any difference with phone version...maybe because it was not "correctly" installed ?
- gmail, settings, kindle, chrome work as expected in tablet mode. Kindle had to get an update to work in tablet mode, before that it showed the regular phone version.
Now what doesn't work :
- I got that "UI.syst stopped" on every boot (don't care much about it)
- s-contacts doesn't work ! unfortunately I couldn't find a working AOSP contacts.apk, maybe that would work
- s-phone works so that's more important than s-contacts, but the layout is messed up, and you can't use contacts inside the app of course. Unfortunately I don't know of a AOSP dialer for TW roms,
- most annoying negative point to me : status bar doesn't show ! that may be the deal breaker for me.
I went to TW roms because I was tired of little things that didn't work in AOSP based roms, so if I can't find solutions for at least s-contacts and status bar, that's it for me I won't go any further in my quest of TW + tablet mode apps.

For the dialler, can you set one handed operation in settings (possibly under accessibility) that usually brings it back under operational state. Not sure about a fix for tw contacts though. There are alternative contacts and dialler apps in play store if you search dialler.
Use an alternative launcher for status bar? Recommend adw or launcher7 if you like windows phone layout, both work well. Adw probably more suitable for tablet dpi.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Unfortunately I tried an alternative dialer from the market, it displayed contacts correctly but FC'd as soon as I clicked on a contact, so I think it relies somehow on the TW contact app or framework. As for the status bar, it's never displayed whatever launcher I tried (Go, adw, zeam, apex, launcher pro), so I guess it's part of the framework and not of the launcher.

Update 04/09/12
This Update will prolly be the last
1. I did my best on this rom already
2. This rom has very less users, even so i tried to make this rom the best for them too.
Updates will prolly come when something major happens like a change in 2.3.7 source code...
A. All changes in the beta carried over
B. (Fixed HTC IME Add-on)

Even so, thanks for being with me this period of time, and enjoy the release.
<3 love you guys <3
Legedary will not come as its only changes a theme and a wallaper.
Update 28/08/12
Will have to hold off updating roms till next week, but here is a beta
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?4addinqut3rb50y (sensibleoneV11-RC2 based on stable)
>removal of sicktweaks, lagfixer, repeated CFS &system tweak, repeated kernel tweaks, minfree and renice tweaks,
>new v6 values in build.prop (based on our device ram& die hard launcher),
>modification of 3g tweaks and netspeed tweaks, because there were some battery drains, burning 1% every minute if data is turned on.
>modified google dns server tweaks, somemore that i cant remember.
>also updated quickpic and superSU. should be better now that tweaks are not repeated twice, boot time should be faster. and phone should feel more snappy because there aren't much clashes anymore, ondemand governor tweaks inside so you can use ondemand over smartassv2 if you want and if the kernel you use supports it.
(will update the rom again with LINK2SD updated, and the changes in this RC to all other roms)
( i not sure if i shud continue since there's less than 50 users... C'mon give me some love and try out the rom first, instead of looking here and then clicking away...)
Download Folder: http://www.mediafire.com/?z4rd416zdzcu2
ThunderVN kernel will not be included in rom cos thachtunganh say he don't like people to copy work and put in rom lol. the download link is below
If you find an app that you need and i have deleted from the rom, please PM me and i will make a zip for you to flash.
HTC Ime mod If FC, please install separately from Lycan's thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1565619
( i found a fix for this by making the app be installed on /data--- to fix asap)
Note to all Root App Users. Because this rom uses chainfire's SuperSU, I would like you on first boot, go into superSU and update SU binary (there will be a dialogue box), just tap update.

Tips&Tricks
Disable surface dithering, screen off animation, rotate animation.
Enable 16 bit transparency.
open spare parts change transition speed, window speed to fast.
New Gapps Zip! { I highly suggest not to install apps like Twitter and Facebook (+ which ever u think will start working its menace in the background as they eat up memory like 9mb each.}
Notes to take note Of...
(sorry a2sd NOT implemented, get your own scripts.)
(gapps is hateful of custom ROM [just kidding] and may be buggy. skip everything in gapps setup cos if you try to do anything from there, it says "slide out your keyboard to continue" and so u have to do it afterward in accounts& sync )
Benchmark Scores
Antutu With SensibleOne V5 1642 with smartassV2 480/600
Record breaking score. ha-ha to those not using this ROM. J/k of course
Sense 4 Dock and Wallpaper
Attached in above post
Someone suggested using themed LP sense ui, thing is it is based on old version of launcherpro. and eats battery too. but nevertheless you can try it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30053730&postcount=15
Get Sense 4 clock from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554077
(download mdpi 3.1 version. hit his thanks button.)
Alpha7(sense4) theme is now included in rom. just go theme chooser. removed redundant themes.
It seems this guy got an agile lock that you might want to try
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597465
(attachments) (rmb 3rd party apps like these kills battery)
You can get widget by
AndroidProWidgets. and free if no themes (default pro black theme is fine)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rdr.widgets.core
if you have ways (legal please) for things like messaging widget. contact widget.... Please post.
looks good will give it a try for sure....thanx

1+ Note immediately that is stock on the lockscreen
Oh if you guys don't like my rom can choose others. Just sharing. Btw sliding tab can be selected from cm settings too.
Thing is you guys want flash tweak packs or to have them integrated. And I don't understand why when I add other apps the data partition gets eaten up... plus I tried all the roms with smartassv2 and 320/480 -600 in antutu like results all range around 1500+-... wonder why. (take note I prefer 600 MAX)
Which also means... that most roms are on equal ground. jus kidding.
how did u enabled launcher pro vertical scrolling in menu ?

There's this app called AppDrawer in the market. download it. then in launcherpro's drawer, u will see that app.. tap on it and another appdrawer will open. press menu button to change settings (select the horizontal paginated/scrolling here) then now that its complete.
in launcher pro again change the shortcut of the centre hotseat to go to the app "app drawer" no to the launcherpro's default appdrawer.
Notes to take note of:
make sure you exclude it from task killers or u will have pains waiting for it to load.
remember the more apps u add and use and keep in the background, thats more of your battery decreasing. i used it just for taking ss then i uninstalled it.

tnx
i am running your rom for a couple of hours, and no bugs yet. God Job :good:
p.s do not put extra apps on your rom, like app2sd or other keyboard, let the rom stock and let the user to customize it with his favorite apps
LP sense is warez.

Link2SD is really small and lets you force move apps. keeping that one. I'll see about the rest. TY for feedback

no offense but this rom seems really useless.
instead, you should just release flashable patches you flash on top of cm7. so sense rom. i can aflash a patch that includes sense framework theme and sense theme and maybe a sense launcher or something

Erm i did remove everything the user wont really need and added stuff here and there and currently looking the collage of tweaks to see which to add...
Like i said If u think this rom is useless then don't use it lol.
I dont really believe in "sense" launchers cos they Chew On My ram like mentos.
I haven't flashed it and not going to it but u can try lp sense launcher.its damn fast as it is themed launcher pro.
Let me search my hard disk . I remember I had a folder which had a lots of sense files.

It consumes more battery tho. i did try it before.
I have no mind in making sense FULL rom. cos well there are many barriers that i need to overcoem which i cant now.
and that launcher dock is older sense means erm.... old...
Thread cleaned,
warez is non tolerated on XDA.
YZ.
.......
Thats why i never include it. i rmb it was warez. lol. sorry mods. i rmb there was a version that still needed license from LP. i'm not sure which. i will look for it.
Edit: AHHHHH yes i rmb. the adw one isn't paid, and there are no widgets inside.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=784116
But. erm. sensibleone is suppose to look like sense 4. not 2.1 lol.
If I'm free i may make one similar rom with all the tweaks, but modified to look like sense 2.1.

yea i know. I tried metamorph before. its just... a bit off... images in metamorph lesser than images in cm7 themes. cos they are so developed...
and metamorph "software/idea" came from droid, or motorola... so themes created work there more than here...
Edit:guys im so sorry for the delay. i found out the problem, give me a moment.

JB 4.2 quick setting on 4.1.2

Hey,
I don't really need a lot of the features in 4.2 that much, but I'd like the quick setting thing. Can someone port that to 4.1.2?
Or even easier, can someone explain how I can build JUST the SystemUI apk from the android repo, and not the whole thing, so I can try to do that myself?
Thanks
There are so many good toggles apps out there (that is if you're not using a custom rom that already has it built in).
why would you like an extra page with settings that arent even quick ...they are just shortcuts ...
sure i tested knzo's and thedarkdude's 4.2 port and the page turn effect is eye catchy... but i see no meaning to it per all.
Ps: iamthedarkone is his name . A am aware of that .

I like the look of the quick "settings" thing on 4.2. Also, if I knew how to build just the SystemUI, maybe I'd be able to make them actual quick setting, instead of what they are now. I do have notification toggles through an app, but I'm not really fond of having a used notification spot just for that. that's why I'd rather have the 4.2 thing.
I use it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=apocalipsisx.controlpanel

thanks, but that still requires a notification spot, and it feels as bit sluggish. I currently use Power Toggles.

Good mornung sir. If you are feeling limber and wanting to program. There is a stock guide to porting 4,2 quick settings panel by bootmgr and spacecaker its pretty easy. I am currently porting it over along with lidroid toggles. The only thing is you gotta add your own toggles
