Xperia T updateloop - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

I just got my new T, which I decided to update via the official way (downloaded the software via Wi-Fi in settings, then clicked install).
But now, my phone keeps rebooting. First I get the Sony logo, then a box with a bar underneath it (which means it's installing, I guess), and then a yellow triangle with (!) in it, then it reboots and does the same cycle.
Help anyone?

download pccompanion and do a software update using that.
Have you previously done any modifications to the phone?

No, it's brand new, I just started it and the first thing I did was the software update.
And I can't seem to use PCcompanion since it needs to be fully started, but I can't get my T to start.

No it doesn't.
Run pccompanion and run the software upate, Then click repair my phone.
Your phone just has to be turned off.
In order to turn it of fin bootloop press and hold both volume up and power button until it vibrates once, and keep holding it until vibrates 3 more times.
But if I was you, if the phone is brand new I would take it back

Why would I bring the phone back if I can fix it myself?
I'll try the repair now.

because if its brand new and you have not done anything yourself to it then I would suspect a faulty handset.
If I break my phone because I flash something bad then I would fix it, but if it came out of the box like that I would want a new one.
If I bought a brand new car and when they gave me the keys and I walked to it and it had a flat tire I would ask them to fix it even though I know how to do it myself, because I want a fully working car if I buy a brand new one.

No, like I said, I updated to Jelly bean via the Wireless method. It probably was a faulty update. I did the repair via PCcompanion and updated and it works fine now.

New Nexus Not Working

Hello,
I bought a Nexus one and as I don't live in a country that sells it my cousin brought it to me.
The device doesn't work and self Reboots giving me 20 seconds of use.
Tryed working with/without a sim,
Did a Factory Reset,
Formated the Sd-Card on my Pc,
and still in the same spot.
any ideas on what else to try before giving up?
anyone had this problem and fixed it?
My phone is not ROOTed and is on Version 1 of 2.1
didn't have enough time to get other info like Baseband and stuff.
I'm not willing to root the phone.
** If i send it back it will make the phone very expensive as i will have to pay costums fee when they mail it back to me
Thanks in advance!
Sounds like a DOA. Really bad luck.
If you send it back you should not pay duty to get it back usually, unless you live in a very tax hungry country! Between US and CAN you would not get duty.
Beside try speaking with cust support, DOA are usually well handled by company and so far HTC seem to be handling repair quite well as per the few post about broken screen I have seen.
Did you try running the phone WITHOUT an SD card ? good luck!

If the boots, has never been rooted (boot unlock), no immediate physical damage, and has no signs of liquid damage or tampering (check void sticker).... it's likely just a software issue. Reload original firmware, or load a new firmware... Don't give up, sounds like the phone is still okay.

So it seems.
Where are you from, Krypton1984 ?
Looks like some rogue app is loading at boot, causing reset. Possibly corrupt ROM image - but not sure. Might be software, might be hardware. But here's one thing to try:
If you're on a T-Mobile-compatible phone (900/1700/2100), do yourself a favor and flash stock Froyo. No need to root for that. The guide is in the sticky thread. In case of corrupted ROM image it'll do the trick.
I think you should factory reset it. Maybe even download the official 2.1 rom and install it. See if it fixes it.
Try a battery trade in first. Believe it or not, my first N1 seemed dead, and support gave me a swap for a new unit. When the new unit came in, it was still "dead" with the battery that originally shipped with the device. A new battery is what caused my N1 to finally come to life. The batteries that ship with N1's have QC issues, because I was one of many to report a DOA battery in the Google support forums.
its brand new,
I didn't pay customs on the way in because my cousin brought it to me, so if i send it back i will and it makes the phone very expensive.
what if when i try to change firmware the phone reboots again without finishing?
i dont want to brick the phone.

Well booting to the bootloader will answer the hardware software question.
1. Turn off the phone.
2. Now press (and hold) the Trackball and turn on the phone.
Once you're in the loader let it sit for a while. If it stays up it's a software problem and a new ROM should sort it out. If it reboots while in the bootloader it sounds like a DOA phone.
Good luck.
You can also try a full factory reset through the bootloader. Search for the instructions as i do not know them off the top of my head

i am having a similar issue. The phone reboots randomly and gets stuck at the static X logo screen. i have to remove the battery and let it be aside for at least 10 minutes before i am able to get the phone up and running again.
i tried updating to froyo. it installed but then froze up again on reboot. i did the battery thing and then started it up, went on fine..froyo had been successfully installed, but my random reboot problem STILL DID NOT GO AWAY..
can this be sorted by installing the original rom image?? or do i have to go in for a swap?!?
i don't want to swap coz they send out refurbished devices,,but its the last option...

You'll probably need to swap based on what you're saying. I, though, actually think Refurbished devices are just as good or even better than new. Think about it, if you keep getting dust under the screen maybe a refurbished phone will already have the fix? For that scenario it works out.

I really think this is a bad RAM issue.
I had this happen to my Nexus (ATT). It was prior to flashing froyo. I tried everything, flashing back to stock (including radio), cyan's latest, Paul's (stock) Froyo (with and without radio). Same result. Seemingly random reboots.
I thought initially that it was a software issue - It would not reboot while in fastboot/Amon's Recovery. But having tried every software combination, I've concluded that it MUST be hardware, unless I'm missing something big.
The phone, for the most part, would be fine as long as I DON'T TOUCH IT. It would stay idle for a long period of time (24hrs+), then I would use it Everything from web browsing to downloading apps to making calls, and it would reboot. It's frustrating because it seems that it's rebooting for no reason except that I'm touching it.
Sent in for a replacement, it arrives today. Hopefully it will not suffer this problem.
After talking with HTC they told me i need to swap the phone.
Because i'm out of america i need to send it to someone in the US amd then they send him the new divice after he sends my old one,
I am not satisfide with google's (first guy I talked with) and HTC because none of whome understand the severity and the hard feeling of getting a BRAND NEW IN BOX paper-weight. nothing about we'll compensate you or nada.
For me it tells me the brand is not strong enough to manage an outer state service and i wouldn't recomend them for countries that they don't cell it for.
If you where born in a HTC GOOGLE compatible country enjoy!
As i'm am probably less lucky and still in 2010 nationality counts

Hardware Bricked Captivate??

About ten mins ago i tried to apply an update from AT&T... I was running stock eclair, no root, no unlock.... as soon as the update started to install, it said "update is failed" "Phone will now be rebooted" screen went black and stayed black. wont turn on, no charge indicator when i plug in usb cable via computer or ac charger.... any help?
Had this happen to me applying the OTA update when I first got my Captivate. I ended up having to take it back to the store to get it replaced. Nothing I tried (even made a JIG) would bring it back.
There are lots of topics regarding OTA updates on this and the general consensus is don't do it. Use Kies MKini to update with instead.
yeah, thats what i was afraid of - lol. Thank you for the reply, i appreciate it! Can you say factory warranty time?
Good luck. I didn't have any problem exchanging mine. It's a known issue.
I already had a replacement on the way for a screwed up search button - however when they warrantied my current phone - it was still working. I just got off the phone with AT&T and told them that the OTA update fried it... they simply noted the account. Problem solved... I wonder though - I still had a ROM and CWM Update.zip on the sd card.... should that pose a problem?
why are messing with at&t updates for the stock rom when you are obviously capable of using a custom rom
at&t techs can see the custom rom image on your internal card and know you have been naughty. any evidence of such on a device is a valid reason for at&t to refuse a free replacement phone, so you may or may not have to pay a fee, it all depends on which rep you deal with
and never, EVER do the at&t ota update. many ppl have fried their device with it
So they will still be able to see the ROM and CWM even though the phone wont power on?

Yes.
Go buy three 100k resistors and follow the thread on how to build a jig "without cutting up usb". .99 cents later and a little time will maybe get you into download mode.

But it probably won't. Haven't really read anyone being able to recover from an OTA update brick with a JIG, so I'm guessing the OTA update is screwing up the bootloader. If the secondary bootloader is messed up, a JIG won't save you.
When i press the power button and hold to turn phone on - nothing happens, when i plug in usb cable to ac charger or my pc - nothings happens.... So a jig would be a waste of time right?

[Q] Is my Xperia lt30p Bricked?

Getting an orange light (not flashing and its been on since yesterday). Wont turn on in any ways, by presing volume up and power for several seconds(i tried for minutes) or pressing down and power. Not even connecting it by USB, i tried many USBs and a laptop+ computer. This phone is just about 2 weeks old and lightly used, because I'm using my old phone.
This phone as never been dropped, hit, left without charge, or watered. So I am really surprised of the quality. I bought this phone in the US and moved to Costa Rica so i cant just send it back. This really annoy me, to think that i wasted 539.00 dollars in this "Quality" product that lasted 2 weeks.
I read some solutions like leaving it charging for a long period of time. Or if that doesnt work, drain the battery. But i think the later is impossible since the battery is fully charge, it would take weeks for the battery to run out (how do i know it is fully charged?, my nokia charger gets hot while charging and it is totally cool charging the xperia), and flashing, but my computer does not recognize the phone even by pressing volume done for several minutes and power.
Please any help? thanks!.

Have you flashed anything to the phone? I cant beleive it just did this without you doing something to the phone. Have you rooted? Have you tried to unlock the bootloader?
Please install flashtool and post the log from flashtool when you try to connect the phone normally, in flashmode and in fastboot mode.
PS,
Now you have asked your QUESTION and I have tried to ANSWER it, can you guess which section you should have posted in?

I swear i didnt touch the phone i barely installed any apps like facebook, waze, and prolly one or 2 more. The reason is because i was waiting for my sim cutter and for the mean time i was using my old c6-01 nokia. I tried flashboot and it keeps telling me device not detected. i tried pressing volume down and power, etc. To be honest i barely used this phone. Just to check my FB or waze (like a google map). I moved to Costa Rica so i cant send it back.

Please dont worry about it. Just go through the process to update your software without actually attaching your phone. Then you will get an option to repair.
Then attach the phone in flashmode (Press volume doen whilst attaching the usb cable to the phone) and it should work.
If not, please download flashtool Find a link in the first post of the Devlopment section and also download a stock ftf for your phone from the all in one thread (First thread in the Q&A section)
Then drag and drop the ftf file you downloaded into the open window of flashtool and attach the phone in flashmode. If that does not work then please post what the log of flashtool says.
EDIT
Also, no need to ever say thank you to anyonr here, if you feel the need to offer your thanks just hit the thanks button, thats what it is for

Hard brick LT30p ?
Hello to all... What could hapen to my phone, that it wont turn on? Hard brick? Everything was fine, I just searching on the webs ho to sim-Unlok, found sites, gived IMEI and they tell the price, and just searched some other to get the price (where is cheeper). Some days ago I tryed to flash stock rom O2 with flash tools from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1910216, everything goes right. Version was 4.0.4 and I do not update (when I connect to Wi-Fi it gives me update) because I thought wen I sim-ulock then I do this. After flashing stock rom I noticed, that my sony wont start without restart (press power + volume up + volum down) (maby goes in to deep sleep or something). I thought never mind, it maybe softwere problems and when I debrand it will goes everything ok, because I rewrite software and add my sim when sim-Unlock I do. And when I decided to debrand, it is to day, I see, that I can't turn on my phone. PC do not detect and no sign at all. Trayed to hold all butons and so on, nothing... What hapens? Yesturday I was using it without SIM (because it is still simlocked) to search on the internet, google and everything was OK, power left about 60% when shutdown. So any ideas how to start the phone? The phone was not rooted. Maby some how something block my phone with IMEI? Because I write it in some forums asking for sim-unlock, so just don't know what to do... Any ideas or suggestions?

I disassemble my phone, removed battery conetctors and added to the same place and my phone booted without a paroblme. Hmm? Is it sony's problems? Maby exists diferent way how to do that when phone just do not boot? Because if it hapens in the future, it's not so easy to remove back.
Who is trying to remove the back I can say, that the back is from soft (elastik) material, so do not afraid to give some preasure. And offcorse there are only one screw near sim card. I done it slowly from corner to corner to remove.

[Q] Screen not working after updating from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2

I updated my phone just recently and came across this major issue.
I used Sony's own tools for updating that leaves two options "Sony Companion" and "Sony Update Service".
Both giving the same results for my phone, even a full reinstall doesn't work.
When done updating you set your Xperia ZR back on as the software says.
It starts normally showing the Sony logo, Xperia logo and some Xperia animations.
When it gets to the lock screen and asks for your pin code to unlock your sim-card everything is fine.
Here it comes.
When setting your screen in standby and back on the touchscreen function is not working anymore.
Other buttons are working fine (power, volume, photo)
I talked to a Sony employee and he came to the conclusion that it's a Hardware defect, that sounds to me like a bad excuse.
The screen works the first time but not the second time it's turned on.
Looks to me like a software problem.
Are any others of you experiencing this problem with the Xperia ZR? Please, let me know below!
I don't have a solution yet or if you have a solution, let us/me know down here.
Thanks in advance!
It sounds like the firmwarepart with drivers four the touchscreen didn't bite. If it's anything like the 4.2.1-4.2.2 in HTC that part needs to get through.
Is there any way of restarting the process through companion?
Skickat från min HTC One via Tapatalk 2
A temporarily solution is to touch the screen when pressing the power button to turn on the screen.
Example: Touch with your left index finger on the screen and press power shortly as you normally do, then move your index finger over the screen.
But you have to do this every time you turn on the screen!

No, I haven't tried that yet, because I'm not familiar with flashtool.
It's easy.
1. Do a search for flashtool and download the exe file.
2. Install it. Install the latest drivers by going to the install drivers menu in the program.
3. Download the ftf file on the android development section.
4. Save it in the c drive folder for flashtool-->>firmware
5. Press the big flash (lightning symbol)
6. Chose flash mode
7. Your firmware should show up. Choose the C5503 firmware.
8. It will tell you to turn off your phone and while plugging in, keep the back button pressed. Since the zr doesn't have a back button, hold the volume down button.
9. It should do everything automatically. You'll be on a new os. Reboot and you're done.

It's still bugging me that they released it and it didn't work. (for my Sony Xperia ZR at least)
Great it worked!
I took flashtool from androxyde.github.io and I also took the firmware from there.
For me the first 3 times flashing went wrong, but it's nothing to worry about just reconnect the USB while pressing volume-down button and retry.
So I am now back to android 4.1.2 and the screen is working fine without any problems.
Thanks djpeesh!
I have the same problem but I don't want to revert to 4.1.2 is there another workaround? This is really stupid SONY says that an app can cause this but there is pretty much nothing on my device. I did a hard reset and it didn't help. I'll try something else to see if I can avoid the downgrade. I think everything started when I activated debugging mode.
Same happens with mine.At times I am not able to accept phones calls by sliding. i have to press the power button several times to switch off and on the screen and then it functions again

I tried flashing 4.2.2 russian rom and it didn't work, tried 4.1.2 russian version, also didn't work. I'll try another ROM now and if it still doesn't work I'll go to where I bought it and I'm going to smash it in the sellers head (angry). I'm so disappointed in SONY.

Please dont try this method, as this might brick your phone permanently and you might end up in jail.

I managed to make the screen work again but then it stopped like before. I suspect that there might be a SIM card problem is your sim a genuine micro SIM or is it like mine a chopped mini one?
I sended my Xperia ZR back to sony, because I talked to a SONY employee about this and his answer was to send it back for repairs. After all **** installations that didn't work. At the look of it the frimware for the screen is not inplemented in the new 4.2.2 update. If you could rip the 4.1.2 screen frimware off and migrate it with the 4.2.2 update that could work, but that is a bit to advanced for me.

My screen didn't work even with a 4.1.2 official roms tomorrow I'm going to send it for repairs. It's really annoying to spend 500 dollars and have these stupid problems my HTC TOUCH HD is 5 years old and has never been repaired, still works the old beast, and this device is 10 days old and already is getting on my nerves.

Well, that wasn't the problem anyway I just left mine in the repair shop, they tried to blame for messing up the software of the phone but I used only SONY official firmware, so let's see what they'll come up with next I hope they won't make me pay for repairs because this will be a very sad story.

I used only software from this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2384512 and Sony Companion repair tool. I don't know what their problem was, probably just want to score some money or something.
I know this topic become legacy already, but how do u guys solve it? My xperia zr screen becomes crazy if overheat a bit. No matter what firmware used. Have to off screen and then on back. Very annoying.

D415 won't turn on

I use ClockworkMod's RecoveryInstaller, ran the .apk, installed it then opened it. There was a large button labeled "flash recovery" and when I pressed it, the phone turned off and won't turn on.
I plugged the phone into my computer and it continuously plays the "plugged in" sound. If I hold down the volume down and the power button, the "plugged in" sound plays more often and has another sound playing right after it, but the phone won't turn on.
I haven't unlocked my bootloader, but I have rooted the phone.
I believe it is in a boot loop or something, because the "plugged in" sound keeps repeating itself, or something like that.
I have an SD card if that is required in fixing the device.
I can't boot into recovery at all, screen keeps black.

I've been trying that, but I can't access my IMEI to get a KDZ file, and I've tried my IMEI on that thread before, and I didn't get any download. I've gotten an IMEI for my model from another thread, but that thread you sent me needs for my phone to connect to my computer, which it can't.

Right, you already said that, sorry. In that case I'm afraid there's nothing else you can do, that phone is dead.. I do believe other users who had this kind of problem had to rely on the warranty to get a new phone, so you should go back to the store. And from now on, don't use one-click solutions to do this kind of stuff, the process isn't that hard and there is less risk involved when you just follow a step-by-step guide.

I am sending this phone in for a warranty repair. But since I rooted the phone, will they accept it? Keep in mind, I have rooted it with TowelRoot, but I haven't unlocked the bootloader.

Not sure, in theory they wouldn't have to, since trying to install the bootloader caused your problems in the first place. But I've also heard of other people who did the same kind of thing and could still use the warranty. I just wouldn't tell them how it got bricked, play dumb and say the phone suddenly wouldn't boot up any more Best of luck, mate!

The main issue I told them, was that it wouldn't boot or turn on. Somehow, battery issues played into it, but I told them that the MAIN issue was that it wouldn't turn on. I don't think they can turn it on if I can't. They have the money and power to try, but I'm pretty sure they're not going to spend a load of time trying to figure it out.

They can easily find out is it rooted or not....................?
If u connect ur phone via usb by pressing vol down button..
U'll enter into download mode..
It clearly says ROOTED.........
But instead u have to try to update phone using B2CAppSetup.exe (official software update tool)
I have a lg d415 it just cut off yesterday n won't turn on i have no clue what to do
