[Q] Is my headphones jack stuffed? - Galaxy Tab 8.9 General

Hey,
Sound works fine through speakers, but it breaks up intermittently and loses sound for long periods at a time where I have to press play again on the sound player to get it to work again.. my guess is some water got in? Damn.. the trusty iphone 3G was exposed to rain tonnes of times since I got it late 2008 and headphones work fine.

[Q] Audio Speaker Problems?

Hey guys, over the past couple days, it seems my phone has lost some audio abilities, what's weird is that some audio STILL works, here we go:
- Notifications (Text and email) *WORK*
- Music Player/Youtube Videos/Phone Calls(inside the call, and ringing) *DO NOT WORK*
- Phone Calls in SPEAKER mode *WORK*
Here's what I've tried:
- Flashing to stock via Odin (Did a flash, didn't master clear.)
- Reflashing Serendipity 6.3 (What I was using before, should I maybe try a different ROM? It's an i897 ROM.)
- "Pressing" on the speaker, as I heard some have connection problems, but this is almost a year after owning the phone.
- Different audio apps (Stock music app, and PowerAMP)
Any ideas?
Bump. REALLY need help.. Trying a format/reflash now...
so the ear speaker isnt working but the Loud speaker does?
the "press on it" trick is for the loud speaker on the back..
sounds like a hardware problem. there is a REALLY EASY FIX. call samsung and get it replaced. flash to stock before you send it in.
I bought it from ebay, new in box. The chances of Samsung accepting my phone for a refurb is nonexistent, isn't it?
Being without a phone isn't an easy fix for me. =P
Bump. Solution found.
It was actually my headphone jack failing. I pushed in my headphones, played some music and noticed the button on the samsung headphones wasn't working, I took the jack out, blew into it, and now the headphones no longer work, but audio is coming through the speakers again.
Fixed my problem, although it wasn't the fix I wanted, since I use my phone for all my music, constantly.
I had the same problem. Turned out to be lint from my pocket in the headphone jack. If you have lint, get a needle, take pliers and bend a small hook in the sharp end. Pull out the lint that got jammed in with your headphones. I posted this fix a while ago in the SamsungCaptivateForum.com. I thought I was the only one who had the problem.
You know, that makes a lot of sense. I took a can of air spray this afternoon and let the headphone jack have it, and now it seems fixed. I think it might have been dirt from work. (Damn you, construction!)
Nice!
Thanks for the tips, I was having the same speaker issue and this certainly helped me out. My music player would cut in and out randomly if had it playing on the loud speaker.
How bout a pair of bluetooth stereo headphones instead of relying on headphone jack? I have motorola motorokr s305. I got em off ebay for $30 and they work pretty good.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App

[Q] Xperia T microphone problem

so i have a microphone problem. In calls (only in) calls the person whom im speaking with won't hear me. It's not a hardware problem, cuz the microphone works in recording sounds/movies, even in services tests the both microphones seems to function. It hapened first time when i pluged out my headset. Seems that the phone forgot to get bag to its internal mike. So i pluged in again the headset and after pluging them out everything worked perfect. But now hapenned again i tried pluging in and out the headset in million ways the mike wont turn itself on again. As i Said i searched on google, i deactivated the noise reduction and i installed soundabout apk. With this apk it works a little bit, i mean the one whom i speak can barely hear me (better than nothing i guess), but i want to fix this crap. I mean its a PHONE, i should TALK with it. Thank you in advance
-(
with my tx on ics this happened with me but not the mic it was the speakers the phone kept recognizing that that the headset is still pluged in
so here is the advice i read here in xda JUST PLUG IT IN and OUT realy fast while you playing a song on walkman keep doing it realy fast for 5 times maybe +- once the song stop workin stop doing it you are fine to go now hope that will help you

[Q] Sound but no music on headphones..help!

Ok, weird problem for me today and i've spent hours looking for a solution or similar thread but nothing turned up. My phone suddenly does not play music through the headphones. Speakers play music fine, and notification, button press sounds go through the headphones okay too, its just the music that doesn't! this has got to be a software thing right, if i still get button press and notif sounds through the headphones? I was just listening to music yesterday, both through speakers and headphones without any problems. Haven't installed anything today either, so it is totally out of nowhere... I'm using the Acid soundmod with poweramp pro and have had no issues until this morning. Phone was never dropped, never got wet or anything. Any ideas?
I'd say your phone hates your Justin Bieber
sent by reversed alien technology....

Does audio jack water proof?

Few months ago i put my phone into a pool, I just used camera in it.
Rarely my phone automaticly stops the video or music for no reason (when using speaker)
And now i cannot watch videos with sound, just video without sound. When i use speaker there is no sound and the video or music stops once few seconds. When I use speaker i can hear the sound but the video or music stops again like as speaker.
Is there any pshycal problem? Or just software problem?
PS: I dont have the ring around the audio jack. But i cannot see any open sides in it.
I found the problem. My phone was washed up by my friend today. Audio jack got water in it. I putted my phone into bag of rice, a few hours later problem solved

Headphone Jack Dead?

Hi Everyone,
I've owned my XT1064 for a little over a year, and it's been serving me well for this whole time. Today, on the bus, my audio randomly cut when I was listening to music through my headphones and the sound stopped. I noticed that the music had been paused so I hit play and the sound started playing through my speakers. I was really surprised because my headphones were still plugged in. Now, I have to put my headphones in at a weird angle or not all the way to get any sound, and even then the sound is very bad. I looked up the issue and I saw it was a problem with many other Motorola devices. Does anyone have any ideas as to how this can be fixed? I really depend on my headphones to listen to music and watch movies without disturbing others. Thanks!
It's a common problem because the jack is placed in the center of the phone.
The jack in my 2 year old XT1068 died after one year too. I use a bluetooth headphone to enjoy the music since the jack had this defect.
They aren't too expensive anymore
