Ok I hope I am in the right section. I have literally tried everything on this forum to return my wife's vivid to stock. The ruu doesn't work it says it's the wrong one, except it's not !!! her phone says vivid in the settings menu but is being reported as holiday in hboot unlocked s-on. I am on windows 8 and none of the fastboot or adb drivers will recognize the device, I even disable driver signing and fastboot will still not recognize it.
The phone has been acting wonky and I want to warranty it. I don't have access to recovery even though I've flashed them multiple times with cwm and goomanager. All I can do is boot into bootloader or boot into android, recovery hangs on htc white screen. phone will not charge when it's off?!?!?! WTF I'm stuck.
all the recovery PH39IMG.zip i can find point to the same file that was on this forum and has been deleted, so i can't try that.
please read my details before you snark me to death.
Thanks

i'm kind of a newb so i probably shouldnt be giving advice but how else am i supposed to get 10 posts :B firstly the issue i see is that you are using Windows 8 which to my knowledge isnt supported by HTC.. so there are no drivers for it.. if that has changed and for some reason you are just having issues with the newly released drivers then ignore me haha.. when i was having issues rebooting into recovery i just reflashed the ones that come with the AIO tool.. because i know for sure those work.. i've used both of them and the only recovery that didnt work was the ONE that i tried that didnt come with the AIO..

Yeah I tried that and hboot says it's an older version and then makes me reboot. does anybody have a ph39img.zip of the stock ICS recovery for at&t ????
I was able to install VMware on ubuntu and install windows xp inside of it. I got one of the all in one tools to recognize the phone and reboot it into fastboot however now when I try to flash a recover it hangs at writing recovery. Does anybody know how to either fix this or brick the phone worse so I can warranty it?
ubuntu usb?
Maybe try making a bootable ubuntu usb stick and install the android sdk on it, then acsess the phone from there?
I tried fastboot and adb in Linux and the recovery won't write, it copies over but it won't write.
Is there a way to modify the ics ph39img.zip to trick hboot into thinking is a newer version so it won't halt the update?

Hey so today I decided to updato to one of the 4.4 roms.
So I downloaded the rom + an update do CWM.
Since I installed CWM on my htc one I updated to windows 8.1 so I have no drivers for the fast boot or anything installed and had no idea that there where problems installing those in windows 8.1.
So just to test i jumped on my old CWM 6.0.3.2 and tried installing the rom this one->(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2520076)
No sucess.
So I thought no problem I update cwm and then try again. Problem is after trying installing the new rom and failing I can't boot into my previous rom.
Now I can't update the rocovery and I don't have any other roms rather then the one that doesn't work on my phone.
I'm kinda freaking out about all this since I have been trying to fix this for the last 2 hours without any success.
Please if someone could point me in the right direction I will be incredibly thankfull

First of all don't panic
Follow this thread to install drivers on your device http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2232799
grab fastboot platform tools from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1590800, don't worry about all the text just download platform tools file unzip and place folder on your desktop. Once inside the folder on a blank spot hold down shift key on your keyboard and right mouse click, you should see and Option to 'Open a Command window here" do that, then you should be OK from there (if you have installed drivers)
type "adb reboot bootloader", this should take your device to fastboot mode, then type "fastboot erase cache" and then try booting into your phone into recovery it should fire up, if it doesn't simply reflash recovery and erase cache again. (you can also side load a ROM if you have to in recovery (but once you get your drivers installed you should be able to place ROM directly on SD Card or install the nandroid backup)
Hope this helps

First of all thanks for stopping by
Secondly I'm kinda freaking out because I simply can't follow the tutorial on the first link you sent me.
I simply can't install the drivers, once I go to fastboot mode, my htc on is detected as unknown USB device and once I select the downladed drivers from that thread and go to device manager to change the drivers, It simply says I have the last one and doesn't install anything...
I did a little research and found that in windows 8.1 you need to disable driver verification on the advanced boot option, did that, did nothing to help me and my situation.
Any advice?

Right I've already looked at a similar tutorial and in device manager I have 2 entries for Renesas USB 3 nothing saying intel. But once I click them I find that the driver version and driver provider and date, is exacly the same as the ones shown on the tutorial. Problem is once I go to update the driver and browse to the x64 folder (where I place the modified files) it does exactly nothing just like it does when I try to update the drivers of the HTC one when in fast boot...
Did you try downloading HTC sync from HTC them self's?
I'm running 8.1 and the official HTC sync drivers work just fine. Uninstall any previous HTC drivers and restart before installing HTC sync. Then after all that plug in the phone in fastboot and verify that its installed and recognized.
Then use HTC one all in one tool or some other similar app and use it to sideload a rom

After trying and failing to update the fastboot drivers I installed htc sync and rebooted. Still have the same problem. Now I may have not unnistalled the previous drivers that allowed me to access the htc one storage normaly when a rom is installed so that maybe the issue.
How would you unnistall the previous drivers? Are they in the device manager?

If it was the htc driver install program then you would uninstall it like any other program. If you did it manually by going into device manager then simply find the device and uninstall it from within device manager.. It should give you an option to delete the drivers after uninstall

So I take a break because I'm getting kinda worried about all this and really needed to "Chill the F*** down"
So I tried your idea, went to the control panel and unnistalled HTC sync and HTC drivers and iptinstaller (I think this one is installed with HTC sync), then I rebooted and installed htc sync again, rebooted and then booted my phone up and went to fastboot, then plugged the usb cable (that is plugged in a motherboard port not in the front pannel) to the phone, it displayed FASTBOOT USB as normal, waited a couple of seconds for windows to say that the device is not recognized as it did before...
Any thoughts? My biggest issue is that I have 2 hours to fix this since tomorrow I really need this phone...that's whats freaking me out
Any idea or anyway to fix this will be trully appreciated since At the moment I literelly don't know what to do anymore...
If after uninstalling the phone and the drivers then installing HTC sync and the problem has not been fixed.
Fastest way would be using Linux since the drivers are made by you essentially. And fastboot and adb are installed and recognized

One thing you said unnistall the phone and the drivers the only thing I did was I went to the controll panel and unnistalled everything HTC related, is the phone unnistalled just by doing that?
And currently I have no acess to a linux machine and I tried to create a virtual machine with windows 7 but I seem to be strugling to connect the unknown device that is my phone in fastboot mode to the virtual machine

It shouldn't make a difference either or would delete the drivers.
As for the virtual machine I always just created a partition on the harddrive and dual booted Ubuntu and windows

I was completely freaking out as soon as the problem kicked in and only now did I realize that I had and old rom backup on the recovery I could not believe it, sorry for the inconvinience I may have caused you guys.
About the drivers I simply could not get anything to work anything, hopefully someone should figure it out.
Just a quick and much more simple question, how can I update my recovery to the last CWM version?
I tried rom manager which only shows a version before the last one and I wanted to see if the last one worked with the 4.4 rom.
Anyways thanks for everyone who trie to help me in the first place it's much appreciated

Did you disable the driver signing on Windows 8? That's got to be done before any of the driver installation or adb/fastboot setup stuff.
I can help you get it figured out via team viewer maybe later tonight. The latest TWRP would probably solve your issue, it works for the new 4.4 roms, the goo.im app would probably install it but you really need to be using fastboot and adb if you're going to be flashing stuff.
Once you get the driver issue solved you just download the recovery, it will be a .img file, drop it in the right folder, rename recovery.img, and type the command: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img.

As far as I know, On windows 8.1 With a H.Boot of 1.54 or above ADB/Fastboot will not work in the recovery? Not 100% sure, just read it somewhere on here, have you recently updated to 8.1? Failing that, reinstall HTC Sync, Reboot, Then uninstall HTC Sync (-JUST- HTC Sync, when it asks leave the drivers installed) Then reboot again, and try again, thats what I did when my ADB Stopped working and it got it going again
Hope you get it sorted soon.
I'm not even sure where to begin. I've been flashing Rom's on multiple devices for a few years now, and have never had an issue until yesterday. I was running the latest stock 3.04.652.2 (sprint) but was rooted and used a few rooted apps. Everything was fine, but then I decided it was time to try a few new roms as I was getting tired of this one. I flashed CM11, and tried to put 4.4 on there.
I should mention that I was using TWRP for everything, except when I tried to load CM11, it said I needed to use the clockword mod recovery, so I did, and didnt' have any issues. It loaded without a hiccup. I didn't fell in love with this rom, so I tried to flash another. I had thought I successfully made a backup and stored it on my computer, but somehow, it didn't save correctly, and is useless.
I got to the point where I downloaded two Roms on the phone. I was going to try one more, Skydragon 4.0, and then a stock version of the Sprint HTC one zip. While trying to flash the skydragon, it went into the correct mode and began the series of questions prior to the flash, and then, about halfway through, there was an error message about syms issue? I can't remember what the exact wording was. I googled around, and was told that if I wiped the kalvic drive, it would solve the issue. I accidentally wiped everything.
So here I am. Stuck on the bootload screen. I've got a white background...it looks like I'm in recovery, however, there is nothing to recover. I can't even factory reset, because there is nothing on here. It won't load anything. I've tried following every Youtube video, and read through every forum I can find. Nothing works. I've tried downloading every stock rom I can find from Sprint, but I can't get any of the zip drives to open to get to the .image file. So here is what I'm working with...
Tampered
Unlocked
M7_WLS PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-1.33.0000
RADIO - 1.00.20.274.0202
OpenDSPv26.120.16:30:08:-1
eMMC-boot
May 8 2013,16:30:08:-01
Fastboot (which I can change to fastboot usb)
Bootloader
Reboot
Reboot bootloader
Power Down
When I try to connect the usb to the phone, nothing happens, it sounds like it recognizes it, but then get an error message stating that the USB is not recognized. None of the other options do me any good. Reboot, power down, etc ,all take me right back to this screen. I've got all of the developer sdk tools and was going to try to manually put them back on, but can't even do any of it because I can't get the ROM to work.
Do I have any options? Or, am I better at this point to just drop it in the toilet, and shell out the money for the insurance claim to get a phone? I thought about taking it to the Sprint store down the street, and just asking for a Christmas miracle, but I"m not sure how much trouble it will get me in...
Please help! I can't go through Christmas without a phone.
John
did you try to make " fastboot erase cahe(s)" ? it may solve the problem.
or you should flash another recovery that support your rom!

I can't even get it to connect to the usb on the computer. It say the usb drive doesn't work. My only options are what's available on the screen. Anything I do reboots me to the recovery screen. There is no way to re-load anything on it. I think I'm screwed. I might try to take it back to sprint and see what they say. Even though it says tampered on the top...the S is set to ON, so maybe that will save me?

the phone won't even connect to the pc. says the usb is not recognized...even when it's on fastboot usb
At this point, I'm so frustrated, I'm going to try to take it to a sprint store...if they tell me I'm screwed, I'll come home, and accidentally drop it in the sink, and then file the insurance. Don't know what else to do...

When you say safe side, do you think I'll get in trouble at the Sprint store? It does say tampered, and unlocked, but the S is on. I'm just going to go with "my brother in law came over last night for the holidays and started messing with my phone. This morning, when I woke up, this is all I can get to." Nothing loads. I'm hoping they will fix it. Otherwise, I'm out $150 for the insurance.
I don't have a win 7 computer, otherwise I would try. This sucks.

Why are you posting in the GSM One forums ?
Sprint HTC one is totally different than these.
If you have flashed a GSM Rom to your Sprint phone your going to have to RUU back to stock to get your partitions repaired.
if fastboot is not working on your windows 8.1 PC it means you hboot is older than 1.55.000 .... try this RUU with your phone in the bootloader screen
http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_..._NV_SPCS_4.38_003_release_335355_signed_2.exe
Edit: your going to need to use fastboot, type this cmd: fastboot oem lock this will relock the bootloader
to accomplish this I suggest an Ubuntu boot CD
I got a similar problem a few days ago, and this is how i solved it. First make sure you have TWRP installed, while in recovery, push the rom into your phone memory. Then go to your phone and click install. Good luck!

Hi im trying to get stock rom back on my One but im stuck on recovery mode. The phone itself is fkd up cause I had a little too much experimental phone but bottom line is i can't use the phone itself only go into my BOOTLOADER and Recovery Mode. The thing is i want to be able to flash the stock RUU (have the file already). I think i can figure out how to do that but steps and tips would be nice. But! I cant even get to that. From what i understand to be able to put the RUU on the phone it need to be recognized on your computer. My HTC One won't be recognized on the computer. Any idea why or how to fix it?

Uninstall any 3rd party software such as PDAnet that would install their own drivers. Unplug your device. Install the HTC drivers by installing HTC Sync and allowing it to install the drivers. After installing that garbage program, load it up and uncheck the option to launch whenever an htc device is connected. That will help prevent running into issues later.
hello, thanks for that thread.

HTC sync doesn't help.
I am so frustrated. I cannot run fastboot commands to get my token because no devices are found.
Any suggestions for this?

Have you made sure that you have the latest Fastboot available? I always check using the Android SDK Manager before attempting anything with a new device.
Unplug the device and reboot it. Then, try again.
If that doesn't work, try a different USB port (preferably one that is on the motherboard itself).
Also, you can try removing HTC Sync. You can always reinstall it after.

This, HTC sync is good for syncing but tends to interfere with adb commands and stuff like that, most instructions tell you to remove it because of this.

Thanks.
I had to reboot my pc everytime the phone went into a different mode almost. System to bootloader to system. Windows 7! Finally got it rooted. It was so simple with the toolkit bit such a hassle since my pc didn't like the phone apparently.
Now to lurk in the threads here for mods and roms.

I've had similar issues with ADB and Fastboot not recognizing my phones after plugging them in. Usually a reboot of the phone and killing/restarting the service fixes the issue.
Glad you have it working now though. :good:
