[Q] [Resolved] Location Update Fails / Not Available - Galaxy S Advance I9070 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone no longer knows its location. Wi-Fi and Data are enabled. I have “Menu --> Settings --> Location --> Use wireless networks” enabled. I have Browser Setting “Enable Location” checked. However, None of my applications such as “News & Weather” and Weather Widgets can find the current location. I can force the location to be found by GPS, but GPS was never required in the past. Any suggestions to correct the problem?
Update 1: Cerberus is another app that can not get location. Google Maps has no problem identifying the correct location with GPS off.
Update 2: Last week when using Clean Master, a lot of files unexpectedly got wiped. All my bookmarks, pictures, Titanium Backup files, and TWRP backup. Many were even located on the ext card. I wonder if this action deleted a file that assists with apps that display/use current location?
Resolved: So looking through TB, I noticed a system APP "Network Location 1.1.08" that was removed. Don't know how that app was removed. But after reinstalling using TB, everything is back to normal.

I have many times and rebooted each time. I used TB to wipe data and used SD Maid to clean using APP Cleaner. Interestingly, Google Maps works just fine even with GPS off.

well then.. lets here from others, if they have experienced similar scenario..
i already share what ive done.. and it did work out for me..
i hope you find solutions for it..

Make nandroid backup.in CWM/TWRP. Do factory reset, and initalize phone from begining (like you did first time when you got it). And see if that helps.

I will and report back. Dumb question, will I loose root and CoCore kernel if I factory flash?

Additional thoughts of what happened

maps not working properly

Hey guys, i'm using cyan latest rom and found out that my maps are not pointing to the correct position. I compare with my friend's iphone and his is the correct position.
Anyone has any idea?
GPS on?
10char
Yeah, gps is on! Thats why! Any idea?
You might try to uninstall and reinstall it again.
Or look for it in the market and make sure you have the latest version.
Create a nandroid backup if necessary if the above steps don't work and try the maps app on another Rom.
Its really a process of elimination.
How do I uninstall Maps in my phone? I'm using the latest cyan rom.
Standard way:
1. From the home screen, press Menu, then choose Settings.
2. Select Applications.
3. Select Manage Applications.
4. Scroll through the list of applications and choose Google Maps.
5. Select Uninstall and confirm the application's removal.
If the above does not work (took it off another android site, not my words obviously):
if it doesnt work for you and your phone blows up or turns in to a killer robot, what can I say... oh well, do this at your own risk!
first, I went in to root explorer. I went in to the system file then I went in to the app file. now this is a area that should rarely be messed with. this is were gmail, camera and the browser are hidden. find a app called something like, google.maps.apk once you have found this app, delete it. to make sure you got the right one, go to google maps and try to open it. it should say this app is no longer on the phone yada yada. at this point if you try and download the google map update it will say "this update is not valid" and fail to install. restart your phone, go back to the market and download the maps. it should work. it did for me. could have been a fluke, i don't know. but I tried a 100 different ways to get the update and this is the only thing that worked for me.
Also, search is helpful as well.
Use it please..
Tried already but still not working well. Sigh.
I don't think that the problem is with your maps to be honest but rather with your GPS. Try clearing all the settings/caches from maps, streetview and anything else that uses GPS (weather widgets, shopsavy, etc,). Then, from recovery wipe your dalvik-cache and your rotate settings. See if that helps, if not then you may need to re-install your maps.
Also, make a nandroid backup, complete wipe and install different rom (I recommend SuperD) just to rule that out. If it still doesn't work, then you have a hardware problem.
Can I check with you regarding the wiping of dalvik-cache? If I go to the recovery and do a wipe of the dalvik-cache, will it cause any issues to my current configuration?
Anyone can follow up on this?

[Q] how to check our phone's backup on Google?

hi
just wanted to throw this question out to the community - I have selected the option to Backup my phone's application/data profile to Google.
now, even though I have uninstalled some applications from my phone, the next time I flash a rom, they pop right back in.
Is there any way I can check on Google what is the data that has been backed up and manually edit/remove those applications so that they don't keep getting re-installed.
thanks.

i dont believe it backs up app data. If you want to backup app/game data for when you are flashing a new rom, get titanium backup

I've looked around on google and my phone and cant find anything. I THINK what you should do, next time you flash a new rom is make sure you sync your phone with google so that your uninstalled apps will register in their server as uninstalled and therefore wont install next time just a hunch though.

disregard my previous post, i read the question wrong :S
unfortunately i dont think there is a way to do what you are wanting to do ive done some googling and looked through my phne to find nothing :|
What you can do to avoid the apps from re-installing is to not select the 'sync' option when you insal a new ROM in the 'first settings' .
Once the rom has booted up completely then when you goto 'accounts & sync' with gmail, only contacts and the selected choices will be synced, not the apps.
can't backup data or game in google account

[Q] Restored dictionary, now "Android keyboard has stopped"

Hey im on ICS 4.0.3
I updated my rom from an earlier beta of the same rom after wiping (I didn't need to, it was my choice ). So after a few days i got tired of not have all my abbreviated words and names etc (FB sync is not currently working on this rom) so decided to restore the data from TB.. It said all went well and a reboot is usually required. So reboot. Soon as i reboot i get "Unfortunately Android keyboard has stopped working". Keep getting this every so often.
My attempted solutions
- Used TB to restore data + app
- Clear data from dictionary provider, android keyboard and User dictionary
- Reflash rom without wipe
- Clear cache (from CWM) and Dalvik and fix permissions
- Reflash again
- Use logcat to find the file and delete the problem file (didn't understand it and couldn't find the files )
- Can't even go into settings > language & input every time i try i get "Unfortunately Settings has stopped"
I disabled android keyboard and the pop up stopped appearing (when the other two were disabled the error still appeared).
I have now installed swiftkey X trial and it works but i would very much like the stock android keyboard back. I still cannot access language & input
Thanks for reading and replying
P.S. I have tried searching a few keywords and i haven't found anything. I have not changed language, and as said i have cleared the data from the above system apps.
*BUMP*
One bump then ill accept no-one has an answer..
Generally clearing data from android keyboard and dictionary should have worked..
you can try clearing data of both using titanium backup..
if that also isn't working, I saw that you have written reflash rom and reflash rom without wipe in steps taken.. did you try to reflash rom with wipe?
that should definitely work, right
Have no idea how it worked but clearing the data from TB instead of from the individual apps via manage apps has worked!! I always thought that option would delete the backup but then i looked at it properly and saw the delete button beneath it.
Now ill try restore dictionary one more time as i know how to fix the problem should it arise again.
Btw I didn't want to try with wipe because I couldnt be bothered to back up everything again, I think there are going to be some updates in the next week and just seems too much effort
I am having the same problem

TB = Titanium backup. Root is required as far as I know. And you clear the data by finding the app under the backup/restore tab pressing on keyboard app and the dictionary app and press on wipe data. Let us known if it goes well.

no, the problem still persists,
m using htc hd2 ICS cwm
problem solved
i had to reset\erase factory setting from CWM,
So basically everything was erased from phone
note
when i restored backup from sd card, i started getting back error msg,
advance restoring system also gets problem back,
only restoring Sd ext3 or mounted restore doesnt creates any error on keyboard error.
on my case TB didnt helped

[Help Center] How to get rid of (android.process.acore)

This small tutorial is to get rid of the error android.process.acore which comes again and again on screen and bothers alot!!
For the People who are encountering this error just follow the below steps.
This error usually occurs because you might have forgot to WIPE when installing a NEW ROM. So to avoid that always wipe when the ROM provider has stated so.
There are also other causes which result this error. So try the following methods:
1. Try uninstalling Facebook if that is installed. If this does not fix your problem then try the following.
Do you have your contacts backed up?
2. Settings>Applications>System Applications>Contacts Sync Adapter and press Clear Data, this error usually goes away. If this doesn't work, try clearing the data on Settings>Applications>System Applications>Contacts or Settings>Applications>System Applications>Contacts Storage.
If problem is fixed, then restore contacts and reinstall Facebook and make sure you don't sync contacts with it.
3. Third and Final solution for me which I really dont like but has worked with me
Boot into Recovery than
1. WIPE DATA
2. WIPE CACHE PARTITION
3. MOUNTS & STORAGE > FORMAT SYSTEM
4.FLASH THE ROM
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. HAS WORKED FOR ME..... PEACE!!

This reminds me that I recently noticed that "Contact Groups" were not properly sync'ed between Google Contacts and the Contacts on my phone. I went into Contacts on my phone and checked "Sync Data". Is that supposed to stay unchecked?
Of course, the Contacts app crashes before I can un-check the box, so I don't know how to fix that now.

Clearing Data for Contact storage worked for me, thanks!
Third step seems to have woked
I did the first 2 with not results the third seems to have worked. My samsung VZW i800 is working quite well now thank you. I have CM11.0 terrenceng... granted I still get the error "unfortunately gmail has stopped" and I'm working on that issue. In the meantime I'm using the email app to handle my Gmail. Thanks again.
I tried deleting Facebook, which worked for several days, but now the Acore Error back with a vengeance !!! I do not have the same hierarchy as listed below, so I cannot use the Method #2. I've already tried Method #3, but obviously that did not work. Oh well ..... so much for upgrading to Buggy KitKat ....
At least I'm getting a new phone tomorrow .... Hopefully it will be more stable, and if I'm lucky might even have JellyBean!!! I had NO problems with JellyBean for over three months. Big mistake upgrading to KitKat 4.4.2.

anyone using this room with skype experienced any problem?
using the latest skype, when try signing out, system will show "android.process.acore" after click ok, message pops up right away. Reboot won't help either. Only way getting rid of message is to clear the contact storage.
Fix the android.process.acore
I had this problem after removing a Google account from my phone that did contacts sync. During the removal, my phone crashed (nice job guys) and it clearly corrupted something..
I DID NOT NEED TO RESET MY PHONE TO FACTORY SETTINGS OR RE-FLASH ANY FIRMWARE, ETC
IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING PROCESS WILL DELETE ALL LOCALLY STORED CONTACTS FROM YOUR PHONE. BUT DON'T WORRY, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO RESTORE ANY CONTACTS THAT YOU REMOTELY SYNCED WITH AN ACCOUNT (SUCH AS A GOOGLE ACCOUNT).
I fixed my phone by going to:
1. Setting > Application Manager
2. Slide over to the "ALL" tab
3. Select the "Contacts Storage" application
4. Click the "Turn Off" button
5. Click the "Force Stop" button
6. Click the "Clear Cache" button
7. Click the "Clear Data" button
8. Uncheck the "Show Notifications" option
9. Click the "Turn On" button
This should immediately resolve your issue.
IF YOU PREVIOUSLY DISABLED CONTACTS SYNCING FOR ANY OF YOUR "ACCOUNTS", YOU SHOULD RE-ENABLE IT NOW TO GET YOUR CONTACTS BACK ON YOUR PHONE.
If you're using the Facebook app (com.facebook.katana) , especially the "dev" version, try freezing/disabling, then clearing data and cache in it, seems FB doesn't do much contacts sanitizing....

The best way to resolve this issue is
- Turn Off Sync
- Remove Your Google account account from your device
-Add your google account again
-Turn on sync
BOOM you are done now

the second solution which is clearing the ''contacts storage'' data fixed it but the problem occurred when i uninstalled facebook actually it happened to me on my other phone ( ''Galaxy Note II'' to be exact ) just by logging out of my account in the facebook app so i had to factory reset the phone
i wonder why ? all my devices have official roms with no root
anyway thanks
I get this problem "Unforunately,android.process.acore has stopped".
I have stock rom. I have Xposed framework installed,is that the source of the problem?
Thanx in advance for helping me.
My device:Samsung Galaxy S Duos2
I used to get that error message many times. With my first Note 3, it finally got so bad that I could not use my Note 3 anymore. Samsung sent me a replacement Note 3, which I still have. I started getting that error again on my second Note 3. Had to do a Factory Reset, which seemed to fix the issue. However, now I'm getting a new error message that just started when I upgraded to Lollipop 5.0 >>> Touch Wiz suddenly quits. After about 15-20 seconds starts up again.
Hey all! If none of the above solutions are working for you (like in my case), then please try this solution I found that worked for me:
1. Uninstall the app that is causing the popups (this could be Facebook, OneNote, WhatsApp, Skype, etc...).
2. Disable Goolge+.
3. Reinstall app that was causing the popups (sign in, get it going).
4. Re-enable Google+ (I actually haven't cause I don't use it, but that's up to you).
It looks like 5.1 fix this, so hang in there!
I just got the Lollipop 5.0 Update for my Note 3 about a week ago. So far, seems to be running ok. I have a list of 11 issues with Lollipop, one which a Samsung Tech Support lady helped me fix (after many calls to tech support, with no help). Another issue I discovered the solution by myself (by accident), and one more issue I found the answer online after reading many articles, and watching many videos.
I have not seen this issue "android.process.acore" with the Lollipop 5.0 Update. Hoping to get another update to fix the remaining issues (Screenshot, Battery Drain, WiFi, RAM, Bluetooth, TouchWiz).

Yea, I tried everything else in this forum and on the web> Facebook uninstall, stop all contacts, calendar, google play related apps and clear data, delete google account, etc...
Have now cleared and uninstalled Skype, Airdroid, and mightytext since it seems to be a Google Contacts syncing issue. This still hasn\t helped. Will keep you all posted if I find the culprit.

[Q] Insufficient Storage Available on a few apps

Okay. So the weirdest, yet most annoyingness (them fake words, though) thing keeps happening. It's a pet peeve of mines to not have all my apps up to date. LoL!! So these 2 apps keep giving me the Insufficient Storage Available error.
It started off with PPSSPP ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.ppsspp.ppsspp ).
I can't update to the newest update. I have the previous one. I once ran Google Edition and it updated fine. I meant to make a backup and just restore it to be up to date. Grr!!
Then all of a sudden it started happening to The Hardest Game Ever 2 ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.orangenose.games ).
It's weird. I want them to update. LoL!! Yes, I have enough space. I mean all my other apps update.
I've wiped Dalvik Cache and Cache. I read over something once about deleting system logs? When these apps finishing updating I try wiping Market Data. Or maybe just wiping the Market cache. I don't feel. Maybe data. It wouldn't hurt anything.
And it's so weird. On my GS2, restarting usually fixed it, or the problem usually fixed itself. Hmm...
Anyone else ever run into this? What did you do to solve it or did it fix itself? This has been an ongoing problem. I know sometime before the GE phones came out. LoL!!
And as I type this a 3rd app has been added. Into The Dead. ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sidheinteractive.sif.DR ).
I can't have that. That's my game. LoL!!
To not make OP too long, here's some things I've done so far...
Deleted PlayStore Cache and Data...
Checked to see if ROM Toolbox Pro had Apps2SD set to Auto (and it as already on Auto)...
Wiped Cache and Dalvik Cache in recovery...
Deleted the app and tried to reinstall (Had to recover the app. LoL!!)...
Made SURE I had enough space. (I took a 6GB backup off my phone. I KNOW I have at least 6GB off the bat)
It's a slow growing list of apps. Hmm...
The only thing left is to backup apps and reinstall the ROM, since it works on other ROMs. *sigh* That'll take forever. =.S
SOVLED
I have it fixed. Here's what I did. You NEED root to fix since you have to go to a system folder. I think you can do this without root if you use ADB commands. I don't know remember if the computer version of ADB can navigate to these folders. Anyways...
"Follow this and let me know if it works for you.
First step is go into a file explorer with root access. Second in the root directory click on data, once in the data folder click on app-lib folder. Last step is scroll down to the data folder for the app you are trying to update or install and delete it. Thrn go into the market and try to install"
http://www.techfreestyle.com/io
1st comment on the page.
Steps:
1) You will need root. Go into a file explorer and go to the root folder. (I used Root Explorer)
2) Open the directory named "data".
3) Open the directory named "app-lib"
4) Find ALL the folders of the app you're trying to update or install and delete them.
5) Reinstall or update the app and it should work
I don't know if this will delete the data of the app. I've already deleted the data manually from those apps, so I don't know. Do with caution.
also its just solve the app that u can't install , so its not solving the problem permanently.

You're right. It happened again. But this time these apps had data. The method I mentioned didn't delete the app data. So that's good.
But this means it can happen again. Its a bit tedious deleting them files. I wonder what's causing it. Hmm... Maybe these lib files are suppose to delete on their own, but they don't. =./
IDK...
