[Q] cwm, locked bootloader and mac - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi
does anyone know how to install cwm recovery for locked bootloader xz... via mac?
thanks

Just had a quick search on Google and it doesn't really seam possible, maybe you might want to look into a cheap windows os, a lot of prompts we use, use windows cmd. Have you not got another computer you can use

Go to setting - about phone - software update
uncheck 'wifi only'
then select software update
If your region have any update, you will get it.
But keep in mind in case of any messing you must need PC, so i recommend do it only if you can hold for PC.
I go with getting ahold of a PC..
Possible to OTA update on 3G but it will be painfully slow..
As for custom ROM's see if you can use a friends PC - AS it's handy to have the installation steps there for reference if you've not done much of this type of thing..
Thank you so much master ketan, I'm afraid I can't use a pc since I just moved far away from home, and still new here, and has to make new friends, and anyway wish me luck!!!

Still, it is a bit risky to update to ICS without having access to a computer. If there is some problem will not have access to tools for troubleshooting. I would prefer to wait until having a computer in hand. cheers.
success ive successfully mamaged to upgrade the software, and then finally able to flash cwm and rooted the device, next step flashin a custom rom=),

No rom, no rom in recovery to flash, no backup

Pretty much just that. Not sure what to do. Flashed trickdroid 5.3 and like the ****ty luck I always have with any phone, data stopped transferring to the phone via usb. I could take it off, but when I tried to put **** on it said "Phone has either been disconnected or isn't available" or something like that. Got ARHD 8.0 on my phone via adb push, thought **** was good so I formatted the **** out of my phone, go to flash it and it's a "bad" rom. Lmao ok. ****. Any tips?
You curse a lot. If you can access recovery mode. Download a flash able Stock ROM and install it through recovery.

Use the all-in-one toolkit in the forum to sideload your ROM.

EDIT:I somehow managed to flash an .ftf file but still can't roor the device with Win8 is there a way to install a rooted .ftf file?

Root without pc!!?? HELP

.I want root my XZ with any app (without pc). Please help.
not possible
C6603 ?
I think it would be possible, if you ask me, but you would have to execute all the commands from your phone, by hand.
Very risky though. If you make a mistake you could brick your phone and have to reflash using a pc.
Not recommended!!
Also you would need some knowledge about how android works, before you try anything.
Just use a pc. That's a lot safer and way easier

Actually you need a PC anyway, actual rooting method implies downgrading the kernel, rooting, and upgrading the kernel. You need a PC to down/upgrade the kernel.
Well, you're right, in the case of newest firmware. Older firmware doesn't an need old kernel, so it would be possible.
But for .67 firmware, yes you really need a pc.
Didn't consider that since I'm on unlocked bootloader, so don't need difficult rooting processes

Well, you need a PC to unlock the bootloader and flash rooted kernels, and actually the last two firmwares need kernel downgrading on locked bootloaders, .244 and .67. Sorry i'm just beeing picky
Ask me how do it.If it will easy for me I do it.
Sent from my C6602 using xda app-developers app
Well he only wants root, so unlocked bootloader isn't the subject here, neither are the rooted kernels.
I thought 244 was rootable without kernel flash, but i believe you in that..
