[Q] TrickDroid and lock screen sensitivity - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Morning everyone
I am currently running TrickDroid 5.5.1 and i seem to be having a problem with the lock screen. It is very sensitive for some reason. When i mean sensitive, i mean and touch of the lock screen will unlock the phone. This is a problem because many time when receiving a phone call any swipe on the screen will answer it.
Does anyone know of a fix or have a similar issue ?
Thanks

Not really having that problem here, it's always been sensitive even stock.

Its a new bug that came with the new baseband that most ROMs use. Neither Trickdroid or ARHD devs will acknowledge it though. Seems like most people dont care??
Pretty big bug if I say so myself.

That's not a solution. Apps require accessibility to utilize Android fully. Lockscreen worked fine before the new update, and should continue to work the way it was intended whether you have Accessibility options enabled/disabled.
The pessimist in me doesn't see this bug getting fixed anytime soon.

This isn't a problem with the custom roms. This problem also exists in the stock rom. When any accessibility service is enabled the lock screen unlocks with a single touch. HTC doesn't consider this a bug and says it is designed that way for blind users.

I'm not sure what you mean that it isnt a problem with custom roms... because this bug was active when I used ARHD and Trickdroid a week ago.
HTC is dumb....
Back to my N4.

I said the problem isn't caused by trickdroid or ARHD
Sent from my HTC One using xda-developers app

My apologies, that makes more sense now.
Yep, it isnt caused by custom roms..... its a base issue from HTC.
Hopefully, a smart developer can fix this and incorporate it into their rom...

You can mostly overcome this problem by using Tasker and secure settings to enable accessibility settings when the screen state is off and disable them when the screen state is on.
This works for me but isn't 100% reliable and I still get the one touch unlock and unwanted call answers occasionally.
I hope HTC will fix this but they don't seem to even acknowledge it's a bug.

all they need to implement is a setting to turn their stupid "feature"off. i swear, there's always something with android...

Touch screen not responding sometimes

Hi ppl. I recently encountered this problem and Hv searched a lot but couldn't find a proper solution.
I pulled my Ph out of my pocket and had the pocket sensor app installed back then and the phone was getting locked and unlocked but I couldn't bypass the lock screen since the touch screen wouldn't respond. I could see everything else on the notification bar working like the gprs arrows and I even got a call when this happened but couldn't pick the call up too. The only way I could get out of it was to take the battery out. Now its been happening often and I heard the emmc chip gets fried if u keep taking the battery out when the Ph is on. Anyone else facing a similar problem??

Did u try to lock n unlock it via the on/off button on top when it not responding?..

I had major problems when I was on 2.3.3 stock unrooted.
I had a lot of crap on it so maybe that was the problem.
Are you on a custom rom? If youre not, I would probably try a gingerbread custom rom and see if it still happens.
Also if you are scared of taking the battery out, you can hold power+vol down+vol up at the same time for a few seconds, and it will reboot
Try not to use that apps. See whether the same thing happen again or not.

Have you tried a factory reset?
I had it on unrooted stock optus rom.
I would change to a more optimised rom like ARHD or something
@nonverbose
I don't think it is that big of an issue for a factory reset but it happened again today and was fine after a few mins. Would you come to know what is causing this if I sent some kind of an error log or something. If yes pl tell me what I need to send. @marcj338
Does ARHD have internet pass through? I use my office network to download big games, etc so I need the feature. Hows ARHD better than the stock anyway?

Not sure about the internet pass through because I have never tried to use it so I dont know if its there
It is much smoother, Ive played with stock 3.0 and it lags and is a bit choppy
When I used ARHD, I found it a LOT smoother than stock, it has better battery life, and it more optimised. Even with OC is lasts longer. I would have kept it, but I didn't like the look of stock 3.0 compared to runnymede ports

The reason I suggested a factory reset is because I think you're experiencing major lag spikes, possibly due to background running tasks. Does it always happen when you have this pocket sensor app activated?
@markj338
I wanted to try out ARHD for a while but was unimpressed by CM so I thought of sticking to stock but later when I checked my friends Ph and saw the difference I wanted to go for it but now I think am gonna wait for ics cos I heard it's very stable. TX for ur time though! Appreciate it ..
@nonverbose
I think it's the pocket sensor but am not sure. I try out various combinations to get outta it. Sometimes I think its the go locker but I noticed 1 thing for sure ....it happens when it's really hot outside and the battery heats up too. Am trying to give as much info as possible!!

Wow.....everytime I try to determine the problem as to why this is happening I come up with random ideas since noting used to work. Now on my way to work the same thing happened again. It is still not responding and am posting this from my office computer. I could unlock the go lock screen by the vol button which I had configured. I could see the internet pages loading up since I was browsing when it happened suddenly. The auto rotation also works and all buttons like home, menu, search are responding but it just doesnt seem to respond when I touch the screen. I googled it and found there is something called a touch input which might be and issue. I cant do anything to stop and restart the service since the touch doesnt work. Any suggestions?
Uninstall pocket sensor and go locker.

Check where exactly is the proximity sensor and make sure nothing is blocking it (dirt) and/or is still exactly where it should be (if you drop a phone it might get dislocated). This would explain sudden unresponsiveness since phone might think it is in call mode (proximity sensor detects presence of your head and disables the screen while you are dialling).
I had go launcher n pocket sensor way before this started happening. I don't think that's the problem. Its something to do with the touch input but can't figure out the cause.
N yeah I remember dropping it once. My SD card is almost full since I got a lotta media n apps. Would buying a new high capacity SD card do the trick? I remember my laptop lagging due to an almost full hard disk ...

It happened again today. I received some bluetooth files and its not responding now. Menu buttons work but the touch is being a *****. It happens so randomly n it not even funny. grrrr

[Q] One calling last dialed contact from my pocket

5 times over the last few days my phone has called the last dialed contacts while sitting in my phone. I think it's something to do with removing the headphones (stock) while Spotify is playing as the last two times that's when it happened but it may be a coincidence as I can't replicate it.
Has anyone had this happen or heard of something similar?

I had a similar problem that unlocked the lockscreen with just tapping the screen anywhere. Could it be that your phone is doing the same?

I'm not too sure what makes the lockscreen behave like that as I couldn't diagnose the problem properly.
Here's what i did just before the phone stopped doing it:
First I completely turned off the phone by long pressing the power button until the timer ran outThen I pressed the VOL- key while still holding the power button to go into bootloaderOnce in the bootloader I simply booted into recoveryFinally from recovery just held down power until phone booted up againI'm not sure which step fixed it for me if bootloader, recovery or simply completely turning off the phone but after i did that the lockscreen went back to normal.
I suggest you try every one of the steps once in order to better evaluate which step fixes this (if it fixes them at all)
Let me know how you get on
Tried those steps, unfortunately my lockscreen is acting as it did before. But thank you for your help

Thanks for the tip its good to know, hopefully someone will find some other way to fix it without losing apps and data
If you're experiencing the bug where pressing anywhere on your One's lockscreen causes it to unlock, you've prolly got an app installed that has an Accessibility Service component to it. If you have any Accessibility Service enabled, it will cause this bug. (Light Flow and the Pebble smartwatch apps are 2 common apps that use an Accessibility Service).
On your phone go to Settings: Accessibility and look under Services. If anything there is enabled, disable it and that should stop the lockscreen from behaving this way.
This bug will also cause the phone to answer any incoming call if you press anywhere on the lockscreen while your phone is receiving a call.

I'm not aware of any way to fix it, unfortunately. Wish I knew a way, believe me, because this issue is keeping me from using the full functionality of my Pebble smartwatch with my HTC One. :crying:
I've actually mentioned this bug to a couple of HTC employees in a thread on Reddit here:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/1d6we1/hello_from_htc/?limit=500
and one of them has already brought this to the attention of some HTC engineers, so hopefully it will be fixed with a future update!

Cheers, it's almost certainly the pebble doing it then; it's seemingly happening whenever I pull out headphones that have a microphone and button, while music is playing through Spotify and my pebble is connected.

thanks for the info, this has been driving me crazy as well.
i have found that killing the lockscreen with a task killer will revert it back to pull to unlock for a while for some reason.

Not receiving calls on my phone, but callers still hear the buzz from their phone.

Hey all
So I rooted my LG Optimus 4X and I later unlocked the bootloader and installed a custom ROM. Not a big deal, and not very hard thanks to the great help of the devs here. So it all works great, but I have two main problems. The first is by far the biggest.
1) I can't receive calls. People call, they hear a buzz as if I'm ignoring them, but I get no ring at all. A restart hasn't fixed it, I also can't go on viber because I can't receive texts. So that's quite a big deal. I'm running CM10.1 and my carrier isn't very popular, could that be a reason?
2) The developer options are all gone, like USB debugging and forced 2D rendering. Other things I'm starting to miss are the apps like home screen autorotation and the app that lets you draw on the screen. Can't remember the name now. This one isn't so urgent though.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

HTC One - Vibration stopped working after 4.4 kitkat update

Hi,
I have an HTC One (m7) international version, and after 4.4 kitkat update, it slowly lost it's vibration and heptic feedback function until it completely stopped this weekend, even with power save mode turned off, and all the configurations properly set.
I've tried returning to my latest 4.3 jellybean nandroid backup from Dec-23, but the problem still ocurred.
After that, I've restored the 4.4 kitkat nandroid backup I've made this morning, and installed the "Vibrate Plus" app from the play store. After playing with it for a few minutes without any success, I've realized that the vibration function only works, with the phone screen facing down. As soon as I lift the phone from the table or turn it up in my hand, it stops vibrating.
If, instead of the "Pattern Vibration" function, I choose the "Simple Vibration", which keeps the phone vibrating constantly, I have a few seconds of vibration with the screen facing up, after lifting the phone from the table, until it stops working again.
---
I've found this single thread (URL = www (dot) htconeforum (dot) com /forum/htc-one-help/2341-vibrate-function-has-stopped-new-htc-one-m7.html) (can't post the URL here) where a guy has the same problem I have and had his phone replaced by HTC; but since Brazil does not have official HTC assistance, I probably am going to have it fixed myself, just as I did with my former HTC One X and it's GPS issue.
The problem is, I can't seem to find any other report from this same problem, other than this thread, and I also am having a hard time finding detailed instructions on how to open this phone for servicing, so, any help regarding any of these is really welcome.
Thank you very much, in advance.

Coming to the issue, did you the Trickster mod? You could set the vibration intensity there.. Install from Playstore.

Hi,
I've downloaded the trickster mod, and set up the vibration intensity to 3100 (max).
With this new setting, the problem seems to be fading away... yesterday, the vibration function failed to work only twice, and today, it has worked fine the entire day.
I cannot think of a reasonable explanation for this, I really tought it was a hardware problem, but it seems to be working a lot better now.
Thank you very much!!!

After the vibration issue was solved, the earpiece became mute at random times during calls so I gave up from KitKat... too much trouble, not so much attractive new features.
I'm back with ARHD 31.0, Jellybean 4.3... it's perfect.
This version works fine for me.
After all the problems I've had, I think I'll never try to update my phone again, unless there's some sort of "killer feature" in the new version.
Good luck!

[APP] S2W Phone Call Disabler

S2W Phone Call Disabler
If you have sweep2wake enabled, you may notice the touchscreen is active while the screen is blanked during phone calls. This app will disable sweep2wake and doubletap2wake during phone calls and re-enable them with your previous settings after the call is finished. I couldn't find a way to do it reliably in the kernel, so I made this companion app. It will work with any Nexus 6 kernel that has sweep2wake.
It requires no configuration, just install it, and run it once. After that, it will automatically work, even after rebooting.
There is one option in the app. Since this app only needs to be opened once, you can click a check box that will remove this app from your app drawer. If you change your mind and want it back in the app drawer, you will have to uninstall and reinstall the app.
This app shouldn't use many resources. It runs an intent service when the phone state changes. That means the app wakes up, does its thing, and then stops itself. In other words, it is not always running in the background.
This app requires root!

I assume it's working good for everyone?
Working good for me I think I've had maybe 1 or 2 instances where the wake gestures didn't turn back on after a phone call, but it was probably just a fluke.

Keep an eye on that and try to remember the exact sequence of events where it's not coming back. I don't talk on the phone much so it doesn't get much real world testing.

Not sure why but my copy doesn't have the option yo hide from the app drawer.
Great idea for this app, I'm surprised that there isn't greater call for it, or maybe I'm alone in having major screen issues when in a call with 2t2w enabled.
My issue is that it never turns double tap back on after a call. I'm using LK with it set up through lkconfig. Anyone know a solution to this? Thanks

In fact I've experienced the same once or twice with ElementalX Kernel. I'm going to observe if it is happening again on my next call.
Edit: Tried it twice, no problems, so false Alarm. Everything working as it should be!

Great!
Works perfectly, and removed from the app drawer. Screen is completely unresponsive (as it should be) when on a call with the prox sensor covered.
Thanks for this!
Hey @flar2 ... I think I may have found a sequence that keeps disabling dt2w and s2w. It seems if I get a call and swipe to ignore the call within a second or two that it's disabling those two features, they only come back on after I re-enable them in your ElementalX app.
