How To Make a Notification Pulldown Background ON YOUR PHONE...
1. Apps I use: Root Explorer Photo Editor Ultimate (Free can do most of the modification. But I recommend using the Paid Version because it also has more options like Transparency and other useful tools.)
2. Download a Large JPEG or PNG picture/background you want to use. Save it onto your sdcard. 3. I personally use a BLANK Black background set to slightly larger than our screen size. This will be in the downloads below. This will be used to OVERLAY your picture to it.
4. Now open Root Explorer to where the BLANK Black background is located. Now choose to open it with Photo Editor Ultimate (free or paid)
5. Now when the Menu comes up Choose: Combine, Overlay, Browse, and navigate to SDCARD, navigate to where you saved the BACKGROUND PIC you want to use and choose it.
6. Move the pic around until you have it positioned where you want it. I move it close to where I am going to crop the picture at. Hit Close. Hit Yes.
7. Choose Resize/Crop
8. Choose Crop
9.Touch on the screen close to where you want to crop the pictures together. (THIS IS A LEARNING CURVE TO GET IT RIGHT.) You WANT to crop it so you can draw a rectangle that leaves SOME of the BLACK BACKGROUND at the top.
10. Now hit the button on the top to draw the rectangle.
11. Click the Top Button to CROP
12. If you like the crop choose CLICK TO CLOSE
13. At CHOICE hit Yes.
14. Now Choose RESIZE /CROP and THIS TIME choose RESIZE
15. Hit the SETTINGS button
16. Now choose FIT SCREEN SIZE
17. It should be CLOSE to 720x1280 for our phones but slightly More/LESS height will still work. (Again a learning curve with practice...)
18. Hit the back button and choose YES
19. Now choose PREVIEW to see how it looks full screen. I start to pull down my notification bar to see where the NEW pic is going to line up.
20. If it looks like it will be at one of the Notification pulldown bars and looks good then your golden.
21. Hit the back button again and choose YES.
22. Now choose SAVE, OVERWRITE OPENED IMAGE, Hit Yes, Hit OKAY
23. Hit the back button and choose YES TO CLOSE.
24.Now it will go back to where the Blank Background was located in Root Explorer. Hit the menu button and choose refresh. Now you will see the newly made back.PNG of your background YOU created.
25. With Root Explorer go to where you downloaded the CWM FLASHABLE ZIP FILE. Long press on it and choose EXTRACT ALL. Now choose GO TO EXTRACTED.
26. Navigate in root explorer to where you have your NEW background back.png file. Now LONG PRESS on the back.PNG and choose COPY. Now navigate to where the extracted CWM FLASHABLE ZIP is located.
27. Now navigate to the CWM ZIP FILE (also on the downloads section in this post). And PASTE (CHOOSE OVERWRITE IF NEEDED). Navigate by clicking like so: CWM-FLASHABLE-ZIP, MORPH, SYSTEM, APP, SYSTEMUI.apk, RES, DRAWABLE-XHDPI, and PASTE
28. Now I use 3 different file names so these morphs can be used on different ROMs. So next I use root explorer and copy and paste the back.PNG 3 times by long pressing and choose copy, then hit paste. Now I name the three .png files: back.png, notification_panel.png, and pulldown.png
29. Hit the back button until you back at the extracted CWM-FLASHABLE-ZIP and LONG PRESS and choose ZIP THIS FILE
30. When it is done Choose GO TO ZIP and move it to your SDCARD.
31. NOW YOU ARE READY TO FLASH THE NOTIFICATION BACKGROUND MOD YOU CREATED IN CWM RECOVERY... HURRAY FOR YOU... YOU JUST LEARNED SOMETHING I HOPE...

Open astro.. Go to android themes.. Make new directory, Theme_Name.. Open the workspace folder..this is where the changed apk is... Copy res folder.. Paste it inside Theme_Name.. I am attempting to change the look of the statusbar at the top if at all possible. I am running ComRom 1.3 and would like to change the statusbar as the green just doesn't work for me. Can anyone help me?
You could always use 7zip to get into the file and replace all the .pngs that you want. But beware, there are a LOT of files that would need to be replaced. The battery icon alone is over 100 files. Signal bars is around 8, etc.

Statusbar_background.9, just change the color of it using photoshop or whatever
I was wondering if I could get the all file or files and use root explorer to obtain the desired status bar.

I've tried to change the status bar in the theme that I'm running to transparent using 7-zip and gimp, I can change it but when I reload my theme in recovery and reboot my phone, the signal bars have an X over theme and I can't make any calls. I'm not extracting the .png files just editing theme and saving the .png9 files with draw 9 patch, but still cant get it to work. Any thoughts?

You could use ninjamorph to decompile the framework-res and TWFramework-res.
Ninjamorph will decompile and recompile an .apk without the need to resign it. After ninjamorph decompiles the .apk use root explorer to copy the files you want to use, make sure they are named correctly. Now navigate to androthemes/workspace folder that ninjamorph created for you and now holds your decompiled .apk's and push the files to framework-res/res/drawable_hdpi or drawable-hdpi-v4 it will overwrite the exsisting files. Now go back to ninjamorph and select finish. It will recompile the .apk and ask you if you want to replace it. Say yes, then say yes to zipalign.apk and finally select no for clean-up.
Your phone will go black for about 10sec then reboot.. JUST WAIT it will reboot. If all went well your statusbar will be changed. MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP 1st. Also you can go to youtube and watch a video on ninjamorph. Its a great app. If you need help just PM me....

If you already have the transparent images. Ninjamorph will work for you too. I first used ninjamorph to swap out my battery.png's it worked flawlessly. Go to youtube and search ninjamorph. Watch a couple videos. ninjamorph is free in the market.
Also you need to have transparency enabled. Simply swapping a solid image for a transparent one wont work......

Thank you for your help on this matter. I will start working on it immediately, again, Thanks
I've gotten the status bar transparent, the only thing that I can't get is there is a thin black line on the bottom of my status bar, I've changed everything that I could think of but still cant get it to go away, I'm combining two themes now to see if that will work.
If you're not interested in the story.. skip to the last paragraph in red.. like this one.. obviously.
I mean seriously.. Am i the only one with this stupid problem.. I restart the phone after somehow the system crashes..
and find the phone with no launcher.. yah.. actually there's no launcher.. and a continuous bootanimation?
WTF??
Actually.. after i turn the phone On.. the so called Bootanimation keeps playing and playing..
and i can still feel the Unlock slider thing.. that it's there..
Well, the phone is obviously functioning Normally .. but with the bootanimation on.. and on.. and on...... and on.
What i do is.. I miss call my self.. the screen shows that some1 is calling..
after i disconnect or do whatever.. the screens lights up.. and comes back to life.. with NO LAUNCHER.
only whatever i used.. which shows in Recent apps.. If i just could get the damn files explorer up!
Well, now i'm wondering.. is there anyway.. ANYWAY..
i can install a Launcher.. without having to do that through the phone????
or somehow open the files explorer?
If you have no launcher, you should flash one via recovery. Find an update zip with an app (such as a modded music app) and replace that apk with a launcher apk.

Thanks Chris.. But can you provide me with such update.zip.. Please?
I'm so sorry man.
I would do it for you but I'm from the phone right now.
Just get my zip with the xperia fonts. Delete the "fonts" folder which is inside the "system" folder.
Now, create a folder on your desktop and name it "app", lower case! Put the apk of the launcher you want there.
Next, drag that folder into the "system" folder of my zip.
So now it's zip/system/app/thelauncher.apk
Flash that and you should have a launcher now.

you can do it by yourself.
For first start you can read this tutorial
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1225432
For make notification area background to transparent, the file that you need to modify is status_bar_background.png in SystemUI.apk\res\drawable-hdpi
(Open SystemUI.apk using winrar)
You can modify that status_bar_background.png to transparent using image editor (photoshop, etc) or use other png file that already transparent. For example, you can take status_bar_background.png from LG UI 3 Theme, drag and drop it to your SystemUI.apk like in Huexxx tutorial, then push it to /system/app

I copied my SystemUI.apk to the root of my sd using Root Explorer. I then connected to my pc. Then I replaced the status_bar_background.png with the one in the SystemUI.apk from the LG UI 3 theme. I then moved the SystemUI.apk back to my /system/app/ folder an rebooted. All that did was make my whole status bar dissapear and unusable. Where did I go wrong?

I installed the Volume key long press media control from einstein.frat and noticed that i cannot view my recent app. Someone mentioned a solution which is, Go to /system/usr/keylayouts and find this file synaptics-rmi-touchscreen.kl .Open it in text editor and file this line key 249 MENU . Change MENU to APP_SWITCH .Then save and reboot.
However when i tried to save the changes to the text file it says:
'Can't write file:/system/usr/keylayout/synaptics-rmi-touchscreen.kl open failed:EACCES (Permission denied)'.
The permission for the text file is rw-r--r--. Im running the Nameless ROM v7.2 Build 5.
On xplore or es file go to settings then mount as root, then you could modify files.
