Hi,
So I have a kernel wake lock which seems to be taking a lot of my battery.
I've tried searching for solutions but haven't found any. Anyone have any ideas?
Thank you

Quick googling termed up this: http://www.reddit.com/r/nexus4/comments/199bd3/a_great_explanation_of_the_msm_hsic_host_wakelock/
It's related to the modem, and looks like something that can be adjusted in a custom kernel.
Thing is I am using Bulletproof 1.9 as my kernel or would I need another one?

I don't know if any of our custom kernels currently address this, mate. Might want to bring it to their attention or otherwise ask them in their threads.

The solution would probably be to use a ROM that is compiled correctly. I'm not sure why you think some code commit will fix your issue? What is your setup?
My guess is that you either flashed a ROM and then flashed an incompatible kernel over it, or that you flashed a ROM created by somebody who didn't know what they were doing. A little more info about your setup would be helpful.

Im using LS 2.1 sense rom odex. I searched that thread and decadence posted that as a fix for the 768 kernel. The fix he linked is the one I linked to this page but I dont know how to do it. Its not that big of a deal , just thought id see if someone could point me in the right direction to perform what it says there.
lol , disreguard ! just noticed after rereading this fix was for the rom developer. My bad

I believe it was stated in that thread that you can use a Zen kernel to fix. Or if you can find an older version of LiquidSense from before Decad3nce's kernel was incorrectly integrated, that would work for you.

yeah I flashed zen kernel and its all good, seems pretty snappy too. Thanks for your input. I guess ive learned that just becuase a rom is posted doesnt mean its always developed right.
Hi, I have rooted using Doomlord's method. But I have problems waking the note up from sleep. Upon pressing home/power button, the black screen displays random red/blue/green/white pixels appearing slowly until the entire screen is filled like in milkyway. I have to try repeatedly to get back to my widget locker screen. Anyone can help? Thank you.
I have never heard of your problem before, but it sounds like a cool effect.

Yeah it looks pretty cool. like the milky way. Haha I think it's just a problem with the set's display. I'm fine when on stock firmware and kernel. When I tried flashing franco kernel the problem recurred. Found a guy on franco.kernel's thread with the same issue.

Did you recently buy your SGN? I remember reading somewhere that it is due to the newer notes' kernel sources. I get the same issues too. So atm, I just stick with a rooted CF kernel.

Yes it's only a couple of weeks old someone with similar issues has rocket rom v22 and has no issues, so maybe you'd wanna try also.
Hi Guys,
mine is a few days old and has the exactly same problem with all not stock kernels. So do you think there will be a fix for this?

I really have no idea man. I hope there'd be a fix. I tried flashing rocket rom v22 and got bootloop. Not sure if i did it wrong or if it's the new kernel causing the problem reverted back to stock.

Hey, I have the same problem and after my research, our note from SG which I believe you recently bought too needs to use kernel 2.3.6.14 above. So suppose your rom is fitted with say a Franco kernel, what you can do is:
1. Flash the rom, then after which reboot and make sure it loads fine. Access back to recovery with VOL UP + MENU + POWER, flash a new kernel.
2. replace the kernel in the .zip of the rom and then flash it as normal.
Scared the **** out of me too, I thought I bricked my phone
Kernel related 100%
Hi,
so I'm currently running the Lunar-Kernel because I want to have more clockspeed-cteps, lower minimum clockspeed and voltage-controls so that I can undervolt the CPU slightly which saves a lot of battery.
I just realized that it has this stupid Logo2Wake and Logo2Menu-Feature that I don't need and now I want to know how I can disable those or if there is any kernel that supports those voltage and clockspeed-settings but doesn't have these Logo-Features.
Thanks for your time and help in advance!
Stupid?!

Ok so because you don't need them, doesn't mean these are stupid features. Devs are working hard to bring those features users asked for. What is stupid imo is someone not searching the forum for something evident. maybe you should read those threads
Not a single kernel there that does what I describe above, except this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301543
But the download isn't available anymore.

You ca n undervolt and overclock/underclock with elementalx
you can chose what features you want when installing in aroma so you won't be stuck with logo2wake or logo2menu if you don't want them
Yes but it doesn't work with CM11

maybe you should have mentioned this in your op?
TeaMSeven kernel for CM11. Why would you not want logo to menu? It is so handy but even if it was there you wouldn't have to ever touch it. Anyway, aroma lets you choose whether to install or not. Btw, my first post after I got my One was asking for a kernel for CM that DID have that feature and I got my a** busted!!

This kernel doesn't have AROMA-Options for all the features :/
I don't need the features and at first I didn't know that they were there, was really confused when the phone randomly woke up or a random menu popped up.
Anyone? :/

If you are looking for a kernel that suites your needs maybe you should look into building one yourself.

Ok so ive got twrp 2.7 recovery installed and im running malladus 1.2.9 currently and evrything is runnung great right now. Ive been trying to read about some different kernels because my intrest in them has gone up. So my question is what kernel are you running and what do you like and dislike about it if any. I know each phone can react differently to different kernels but i just want to get a feel for things out there before i decide on which kernel i want to try.
I would definitely recommend Furnace 1.7.1 for LG roms. Extremely smooth and snappy

Thank you for the recommendation!! Also i forgot to ask, but when i flash a different kernel from stock does it have its own ui to tweak the settings or do i need to install a app to tweak the settings?

You can download an app called Trickster MOD Kernel Settings, or Kernel Tweaker. If your ROM supports it, you can find kernel settings in the settings application.

Personally I like Trickster Mod simply because Ive used it the longest. It gives you a wide range of things to tweak as long as the kernel itself provides them.

There is 3g that is why it says roaming. Its not "always roaming" it only displays that when you're on 3g.
Turn on allow data while roaming and you're set. Its cosmetic, it doesn't roam.
And based on the c ROM thread, yes, it is there.
Until cm fixes it and the changes are merged to whatever ROM or the ROM devs fix it themselves it will be there.

Every kernel is different in what you can change. Take the lg stock kernel. No access to voltages and whatever else. On a custom kernel you may have access to it (if the Dev allows)
Also if you flash dominax it will install stweeks as well, basically his version of trickster.
If your phone isn't slow, why flash a custom stock kernel? I'm currently on 1.2.9 malladus with animations turned off, and its snappy as hell.
Stock kernel = no issues and best battery life.
Custom = possible sod's even on stock.

Nope, not really. Today I was in an area where I normally don't get 4G, phone then said it was roaming, but that was expected. I was having some wakelock issues while charging in the car when my phone was super low on battery (forgot to charge last night), screen kept coming on while chraging when I was trying to conserve every last bit of juice.
That being said, it's by far the best ROM I've seen yet. I've never seen so many features packed into one ROM before. IT makes PAC Man ROM look like stock. Its awesome! Def check it out!

Did you try flashing stock FTF to find out if the problem lies in your hardware or is it a software problem?
My best guess is a hardware one I am afraid.
Quote me back if you expect a reply.
Good Luck

Can you please try a STOCK rom and tell me that ? If many people are complaining about it after a specific kernel/Rom, I assume this is a software issue which would be only fixed by a developer who is working on that particular rom/kernel.
Good luck

This confirms the problem is with custom ROM and your hardware is perfectly fine! This could be due to irregular regulation of power in your ROM/ kernel. Have you undervolt it a lot or something like that especially GPU?

Developer of the ROM can in this case. You can change them manually too but I don't suggest it
