[2.1] Simple root instructions for Eclair

Here is a very simple instruction on rooting LG GT540 when Universal Androot doesn't work:
1. Download and extract the attached package.
2. Connect the phone in "USB Debbuging Mode"
3. Doubleclick "root.bat" (extracted from the package)
4. Wait for the console to shut down and the phone to reboot.
The credit for this method goes probably to people from Modaco.
Since this is my first post and i am still not allowed to post links from external servers i won't give any mirrors for unregistered users. Sorry.

Any confirmation that this works?

I rooted my phone yesterday using that method.
I ran each line of code separately though as i had issues running the .bat file

You can give it a try. But first look at the name of this forum section. It is for GT540.

I have made a new version which includes both root and app2sd.Named 1 click autorootapp2sd .
You can access the guide at modaco . The file is attached.Turn on usb debugging mode and run autorootapp2sd.bat.

2. Update.zip copy directly to an SD card
3. Reset the phone and start the recovery mode
4. Select the option to apply sdcard: update.zip
5. Root been made

Yeah it should work. Also you can try a factory reset (never tested).

Hi Rooting will void my warrenty??

Im trying to root my phone.
I have USB debugging mode on the phone, and i tried running root.bat both as an administrator and a user.
I get stuck here (see attachement)
What have i done wrong?

I found out that i cant even connect my phone to LG Pc suite.
USB storage works well, but Suite never finds the phone. I have installed all the drivers from LG.
Whats the next step?

After i installed, latest busybox using busybox pro, my phone dosen't boot. Please help. I beg you all. My mom will beat me if she gets to know i destroyed my phone. All i want is it to see in complete stock. And as i know we can not get into clockwork recovery mode with latest busybox, using smart install.

Relax
Turn OFF the phone, just press "Vol-" and "Power Button" untill you feal the vibration.
You'll be in Android system recovery. Choose "wipe data/ factory reset" (volume keys to select), press "Power Button" to execute, in next step choose "yes-wipe data" (something like that) and press "power button" again.
Wait untill the phone shows you the option restart/reboot, select and execute.

you can flash kdz to save your phone without wiping,.good luck

If busybox is not wiped the problem remains... I'm even wondering if factory reset will solve the problem once that most part of the times root remains.
If it don't, only web upgrade or LG Tool Upgrade will reset to factory default.

thank you both for taking interest.busybox is in. Thats the problem. And i was thinking to get into clockwork mode. Can you please tell me how to get in. Cause i saw a post saying custom recovery not working with latest busybox(v1.20.2).
Or any way that can make my phone stock.
I was thinking any option in lg pc suite or something.
Please i need tutorial and perfect method. Please help.

Just open LG PC Suite, Device, Emergency Firmware Recover (or something like that, mine is in portuguese, sorry).
Just follow the program instructions.
If it don't work, you'll need to flash via kdz...

I'm sure resetting to factory would be enough. Sounds like its just a soft brick. Factory reset will wipe everything you have on the phone but won't touch your sd card. It will turn your phone to completely stock or like out of the box condition software wise.
Vol - + Power and you should be good.

hi first off all id like to say thankyou for such a great site, 2nd is im having the same problem as the original poster here. i updated busybox and now when i start the phone it goes past the boot logo then sticks on opening programs. i have tried the wipe/factory reset and it doesnt work(i guess its due to busybox installs to a system folder, and ive tried to follow the video guide on updating with the kdz file, the problem im having is one that is shown in the video-where its saying the phone isnt connected and the driver for the lgusbmodem wont load,now im unable to understand what it is that you do to fix it(my bad sorry), could you englighten me as to what i need to do

I said before that I had my doubts, even about factory reset...
Busybox is part of the "root", and as we know, factory reset not always "unroot" (very rare).
My advice is, Emergency Software Recovery, in LG PC Suite, or use the "UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe" and performe a "Web Upgrade".

The system cannot find the file specified.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.
i have the latest drivers installed so ive tried clicking update driver i then get the following " windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error attempting to install it. then says LGE Mobile composite USB device - the system cannot find the file specified
Once again thankyou for any help you can give,im really annoyed with myself for even messing about with the best phone ive had,when i try the update tool through the lg recovery it says updating is not possible any longer due to a fatal error while the LG Mobile Phone Software update

can you connect the phone through Single ADB Interface(Vol+ & Power)?
maybe you can use adb to replace or reinstall the old busybox.

hi thankyou for your help , ive tried this method once and it was like it hadnt connected to the phone ,in the command window it seemed to still be waiting for a connection, ive just tried using the offline method with UpTestEX_mod2_marwin and the http server and windows enabler and managed to get it to connected but after extracting everthing it sticks on 4%,heres part of the log from it, im willing to give a good contribution to whoever manages to help me fix this,i wish i could afford to give many people a donation here as there is many great people

hi once again, the abd must be working as done a simple command of adb reboot-bootloader and it rebooted the phone, how would i go about trying the method of pushing busybox through,also is it possible to push other files through with abd for example CWM_deodex_rom_v10e_signed then using recovery menu (vol - and power) , sorry im dont have a lot of understanding of these things,guess thats a reason for me not to mess around in the first place

fastboot is disabled on 4x, so the command 'reboot-bootloader' is no use, and we don't need it in fact.

2.replace LGFlashTool.exe to hack it
3.click LGFlashTool
4. choose dll and kz
download kz (HK v10c) or extract your kdz

5.then click the "COM"button and set your port
6.click the "arrow"button to start flash mode
7.plug your phone(S/W mode)
8.the phone will reboot about 6mins later(82%) and the tool will show your a fail message

[Q] Can't get my S4 Active rooted

I was hoping for some help getting my S4 Active rooted.
But first, apologies if this thread is misplaced.
I have reviewed the following threads and followed the instructions therein, but to no avail:

Against my better judgment, I tried various other options like One Click Root, even thought it was not certified for the I537; I also tried Kingo, VRoot and another Chinese root, and still nothing.
Phone:
AT&T
Samsung-SGH-I537
Version: 4.2.2
BaseBand: I537UCUAMF3
Kernel: 3.4.0-784654
From a new phone, I attempted to use activeroot.apk. I get the confirmation message that the phone is rooted, but Root Check, and Root Checker Basic both indicate no root. However, I was able to install SuperSU and update the binaries. I also installed SuperSU, Root Explorer, and Titanium Backup, and they all appeared to be working. Next, I installed XPrivacy.
However, at no time did any of the root checkers confirm root.
Today, SuperSU disappeared from my install list. I re-installed it, but upon attempting to update the binaries, I received an error message indicating that it has no binaries, and no way to install them. Titanium backup now gives me an error message indicating that I don't have root.
I unistalled activeroot, but when I navigated back to geohot's site to click on the "lambda", I got an error indicating that I needed an SD card to download activeroot. The card I was using at the time was a SanDisk 8gb SDHC Class 2 card from an old phone. So I researched and found that older cards, or cards from other devices can sometimes cause difficulties. So my current card is a SanDisk 32gb SDHC Class 10 that I formatted in the phone.
Now when I go to geohot's site on the default browser, I click on the "lambda", receive a notification that the download has commenced, but nothing further - no confirmation message. On Dolphin Browser, I still get the "SD card is required to download ar.apk."
Thanks to anyone who had read this far; and I would certainly appreciate any assistance that any of you are willing to provide.

You said you tried One Click Root. Have you tried SRS One Click Root from srsroot,com or did you try oneclickroot,com ? SRS Root worked for me on a cheapo Bauhn tablet - wasn't a device specific root, just used some sort of flaw, so (from my limited understand) the following instructions should apply to you (since I can't post links yet, I c+p'd)
1. Download the free SRS One Click Android Root v4.6 from SRSRoot One Click Root for Android (SuperUser) and install on your PC.
2. Download the free Root Checker by joeykrim from Play Store
3. Connect your device to your PC with the USB cable, wait for any drivers to install.
4. On the device:
a. Make sure Unknown sources is turned on – Settings>Security>Unknown sources
b. Make sure USB Debugging is turned on – Settings>Developer options and turn on at Top Right Corner if grayed out and turn on both USB debugging and Allow mock locations
c. Make sure the USB computer connection is set up – Settings>Storage and click on the 3 dots in the Top Right Corner – Click on USB computer connection and select Mount SD card.
5. Back out to the Home screen
6. Wait until the tablet goes into standby and the screen is black
7. Run Super One Click Root (you need to be connected to the Internet)
8. Select ADB Toolbox
9. Select Reboot Device
10. Wait for Reboot
11. Wait until the tablet goes into standby and the screen is black
12. Select Root Device (All Methods)
13. Follow directions and when you unlock the screen
14. Select Install SuperUser
15. When the root finishes turn off and restart the device and it should be rooted
16. Use the root checker
I hope this works for you. Credits to enviro8 from the androidtablets forum and obviously everyone who developed all that nitty gritty stuff.

Thanks for your help. I followed your instructions, but I got some confusing results - the rooting program indicates that I have SU Root, but the Root Checker programs all indicate that I do not. Super SU and Root Explorer are still not working.

First of all a little history!
I started in X98 Air III M5C5 with clean stock ROM? as I really want a clean, stock ROM with no extras or Chinese bloatware!
The 1st thing I did was go to "Intel Android Devices Root / Temp Recovery Session" to root my tablet.
I wiped the tablet and reset to Factory, wiped dalvik cache
I followed the instructions there
Selected option 5 from the launcher "CMW" then used trigger T4.
This booted the unit into custom recovery and I managed to select the su.zip file
and seem to have a rooted tablet now! Well SU is installed and seems to be working! Yay - step 1 Complete
I then downloaded X98+Air+III(M5C5)+-+guvno.zip and and also X98 Air III V1.00_20151204 Clean Stock CWM Backup (just in case), put on the root of the Tablet (Couldnt put on SD card because it cant find it in recovery)
I also downloaded the system.img.gz file ( but have no idea what to do with that, so just put it in the root of the tablet !!!
SO I am now stuck -
I have make sure you have downloaded and installed the adb / fastboot drivers . . .
I have enabled developer options / adb debugging under settings on my device . . .
The tool is reporting :
DEVICE STATUS: ADB-ONLINE
DEVICE INFORMATION: Baytrail000005A4 device
I then selected option 5 from the launcher "CMW" then used trigger T4.
This booted the unit into Vampirefo Venue 8 v6:
I tried to restore and got the error message: Couldnt open directory , no files found
I tried to instal the guvno zip file with the following error message: installation aborted with the dead android with a red triangle
I am unable to do anything else from here and this is where I need your help please!!!
What am I meant to do now!!!

I was trying to replace the bios chip in x98 air 3g but by mistake smd resistance near pin 1,2,3and 4 became damage and now device not start if some can help me to know the value of resistance by just measure there own than please help I will be very thanks full for that . (I was just keep posting this question in internet from around 1.5 months but still not have any replies I hope xda-developers have atleast any one who know how to use ohm meter to measure resistance well as name is a developer site and if any one not able to answer this question then it is very same full for all who are in this website)...... I installed successfully all the 3 files using the links provided in this thread, using adb.
• Installation guide ( credits goes to @Arteush):
• With ADB :
- Download and extract SDK Platform Tools
- Rename the downloaded .bin file to update.zip
- Copy it to the same folder where you previously extracted SDK Platform Tools
- Reboot your phone in recovery mode (Hold power+bixby+volume up buttons while rebooting)
- Select Apply update from ADB
- Plug the phone to your computer and start a terminal in the folder containing the update.zip and the SDK Platform Tools
- Execute the command ./adb sideload update.zip
- It will start the update and reboot your phone once it finish
• With a microSD :
- Rename the downloaded .bin file to update.zip
- Copy it to your microSD
- Reboot your phone in recovery mode (Hold power+bixby+volume up buttons while rebooting)
- Select Apply update from SD card
- Navigate and select the previously copied update.zip
- It will start the update and reboot your phone once it finish

Its seams that we are quite behind from the international model in the beta updates-with links provided for manual updates.
I did some research and i didn't found the fota links for update 3/4... i have to postpone my research because i have some exams but feel free to post it here if you come by those links.

Is the latest beta uploaded here good enough for daily driver or is it too buggy?

I did installed in my note 9, until now everything works fine, i noticed a little freezes once or twice a day, besides that every thing seams fine.
My battery is better.
The phone seems to respond faster.
Just to be careful I did remove my locks from my phone because there were some bugs reported ( i dodnt know in which beta) that made you restore your phone because you weren't able to unlock your phone.

Thanks. I didn't remove the passwords/pins and it seems working on my end. Looking forward for the beta 3 4 5 links. :laugh:

Stable Android 10 for Note 9 has been released as per Sammobile. For india beta testers for now.

Any updates?

Steps to make dual card on Samsung Galaxy Note 9 N960N:
*
1.Open your phone and go to Settings> Developer Options and enable OEM unlock and USB debugging
2. Open Chimera Phone Utility and connect Note 9 to your computer. When prompted, remember to check the "Always allow from this computer" option
Click Restart> Read Certificate
3. After successfully reading the Cert, you need to refresh the TWRP recovery.
4. When finished, press the power + volume down button to turn off the phone. Next, immediately quickly press Bixby + Volume + + Power button to start TWRP recovery.
5. Click Wipe> Format Data and enter yes. The computer will immediately detect your phone's internal storage.
6. All you need now is to copy the custom ROM to your phone and flash it.
7. When finished, just restart your phone. Install Root Explorer to check root access. If your Galaxy Note 9 is not yet ROOT, you should delete or update Magisk on your phone
8. Open Root explorer => set permissions => Root => EFS => find PROP and edit.

10. Connect the phone to the computer again. When you see "SIM card has been transferred", please use it alone, do not restart the phone.
11. Re-open Chimera => tick on Imei 2 => write certificate, this is what I read before
12. The tool will warn you with some notifications. Just ignore it and click OK => OK => Write ...
I use a dual SIM card on the N960N, so I can't go back to the official system, he will invalidate my second sim! If you are interested, you can also use two sim cards on N960N!

Today l received android 10 official update through OTA update. Very smooth :laugh:

you will have to go to latest pie version with odin, and then use odin(or check for update in the app if you havent root your phone) again to update to andorid 10.

Hello everyone! After android 10 stable update, does anyone have bugs with the pop-up view. For example what's up, when messages arrive, sometimes shows on pop-up view sometimes not, most of the time l have to manually open to pop-up view. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you

if you have an n960n dual sim that means that your phone had a custom rom/was rooted, and when you returned to stock you lost your dual sim, just root your phone and flash again a custom rom with dual sim support.
