I'm not sure really how to help, but if you can describe the last thing you were doing prior that will help people diagnose it. Were you rooted? Or trying to root? Did you try to modify any system files?
I have the same problem. I was rooted. I was trying to copy the vendor apk into system/ app folder. I think I accidently made copy of app folder, it said app copy then froze. I clicked system restore. did nothing.
Are you able to reach the system with adb shell at all? or not? If not, I think you are stuck sending it back to Amazon for repair/replacement. If you can, you should be able to use the same method you used to root to get /system RW again, and try to fix it up.
I don't know how to use ADB. I used the one click root method. My computer isn't recognizing the device when plugged in. Is there a step by step guide on how to fix it or will it be possible in the future?
If its not recognized, then its unlikely that adb will work. If I had a bricked device though...I would start reading and trying to get that working. If you really don't feel confident in messing around and trying to fix it, call Amazon and ask them to send you a new one.

what do you do so that KFTT state in bootloop?

Hi, I am in the same situation. Here in Spain we have the KFHD since 4 days ago.
I rooted it correctly via ADB. I installed google play and installed several app's apparently without difficulties. The issue came after putting the Go luncher HD apk on system\app. After that I rebooted the device and appeared the two luncher options. So everything ok. I was moving around my new luncher and everything was ok, but suddenly the device rebooted and I had the same issue here explained. Bootloop and no factory default possible. Of course just rebooting didn't solve it. I have to say that the last thing I was doing before the sudden reboot was modifying permissions from SU. Maybe it's related, so don't touch anything from there. ADB was not working any more so very few things to try...
Amazon accepted a replacement (I just said what happened but not why) and now I'm waiting a new one.

If you're willing to do a little work, you can try this recovery method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951254. Personally, I would just send in the device to be replaced, and not tell them the exact circumstances of how the problem happened. Amazon's generally pretty good about returns and replacements while you're still within warranty.

I am in the same issue
The main mistake I made was selecting "Reset to Factory Defaults"
This automatically turns off the debug mode and with it stopped any communication between my PC and the Kindle Fire HD 7". Even the Factory cable I bought for £3.19 didn't help. The driver shows like it is installed correctly and my Kindle shows Fastboot on the screen when connected, but there is no communication.
I only got it for Christmas and I've goosed it. I am now hoping Amazon will be sympathetic and believe that it just started looping itself without me modding it.
When you reach the fastboot screen unplug factory cable and insert the usb that came with it. Then check your drivers to make sure they are Installed properly. Then use system Img restore tool to restore, follow directions exactly

Hello All! I was messing around with App Quarantine and ended up bricking my KFHD (not sure what I did because I was still messing around with it.) My KFHD is rooted but I didn't install TWRP or any type of recovery program. Is there any way for me to unbrick this or am I stuck with a fancy paper weight?

Lord NO! Any Kindle with the letters HD after Fire have nothing in common. Anything run to access the system or modify it will guarantee a permanent brick with NO WAY OUT.

Technically, the factory cable will still work, even if there are ways to know that you shouldn't do some things (like number 4 in the thread in my signature).

How can I fix the bootloop if I have the ADB disable (and I think the third party is disable to)? My KFHD is version 7.4.1.

Hey Elgari, just saw your problem and actually answered you in two different places Basically you can't use adb. You can only use adb when you're in recovery or when booted. You'll have to go with fast boot. Can you get into fastboot or do you have a factory cable? If you can get to fast boot then you can use the kindle SRT tool from the development thread.

Thank you very much Droidlt! I´ve read your answers and is clear: need a factory cable to go with fastboot. As device manager recognizes the KFHD as adb android composite ADB interface, I had hopes of not requiring the factoy cable. Had also read some posts suggesting that it was not necessary, but now I understand I need one!! Thanks again. I don´t have a factory cable but will try to buy or make one.
I supose the SRT is the threat post by Onemeila, isn´t?
I love my KFHD and would like to understand why! This setback makes me love her even more. Would know If it was something I made wrong or if it was and accident.
Finally I must apologize for writing my problem in more than one place, but I was really frustrated!!

No prob Yep just a factory cable. Just make sure your kindle is off, plug the factory cable into the computer and then your kindle. It will automatically boot up your kindle into fastboot mode. Then swap out the factory cable for a regular usb cable and run onmeila's SRTool, doesn't really matter which version you download, you can root them all. Flash whatever version you downloaded and you have a new kindle again :thumbup:

Hello Droidlt!
Well, I made a factory cable and put the kindle in Fastboot. I run option 1 of SRT and seems do the work: it begin with "sending systems, then Okay, after "writing systems, then okay and after it said finished, Welcome Back. But nothing changes!
I tried with option 3 to, and I tried changid the SRT folder to Plattform tools as I read on Onmelia´s threats. But same results.
My device manager recongnize my KIndle as Android ADB interface. I used the code adb shell su -c "reboot bootloader" and give me the results: device not found.
I make something wrong but I don´t figure what is it!!??

Hey Elgari, so did it boot up or no. What exactly did you see on the screen after you ran the SRTool?
Edit: Ahhh, I see what you did. You only need to use that command if the fast boot cable didn't work. Your fast boot cable did get you into fastboot though. Just unplug your kindle and reboot it. I think you're good.

The screen of the kindle never changes: always remains on Fastboot (in orange) with kindle fire bellow with small letters. In the PC I saw the menu first and then the others steps I´ve mentioned. Nothing else. Let me know if you need more information to try to help me.

OK, go ahead and turn your kindle off by holding down the power button for 20 seconds, hit the power button again like you would normally then. It should boot up.

I am exactly having the same issue, currently on Fastboot Screen and turned the kindle off by holding down the power button as per your instruction. After reboot it goes back to kindle Fire HD logo screen.
Pls advise.

Thank you Droidlt! I did that and it returns to normal boot but it continues locked in boot screen: normal Kindle Fire Logo no matter how long I leave it turned on. I left all night charging plugged into the wall. I tried last night another thing. I run step 3 of Kindle Fire First Aide. Same things, it run all ok but no fix the problem.
Other comment is that when running step 5 of SRT my kindle screen changes to normal boot and in the pc the screen back to SRT menu doing nothing more.
I will ty now tu run again step 1 of SRT and I will keep you advised

I run SRT (step 3 instead 1 because I think is better). Same results: stays in the initial screen with the logo of kindle fire with a kind of light passing through. I run step 5 to chek fastboot status and same results: the kindle changes from fastboot to normal but still stay in the initial sreen as described. I run step 6 and in the PC the screen said waiting for devices while kindle is in the screen described. I left 10 minutes and nothing changes. Now I turn off the kindle holding down power button for 20 seconds, wait 5 seconds and hit the power button again: same results initial screen with kindle fire logo, etc.
In my desperation being the kindle in this initial screen I just ran Kindle Fire First Aide to check ADB status. The results was I have ADB comunication !!! Its says "device attached D025A0A024421317" "It looks like ADB is enabled". But kindle is in the same screen . . .

FIXED!!!!!!!!! Or I think its starting to be fixed!! Y run various steps of KFFA and finallly with option 25 (Restore from Kindle backup folder) and disabling OTA its seems to be fixed. I said its seems because its a backup from my previous status which was who has the problem of turn off by itself.
What do you think? I leave it like that and see what happens or I do anything extra?

Make sure your drivers are installed correctly for you too ipsearch. that could be the problem if not uninstall them and then reinstall.

So you're booting now? I was thinking back on what I suggested earlier, and I actually should have suggested the 7.2.1 SRT version. I remembered that there are no options in the 7.2.1 version, it's older but it's all automatic, and therefore easier. All is good now though?

This is good to know too, we all learn something This is the first time I've heard of a kindle being recognized by adb in a semi-booted state. I've had that with one of my phone's before but not seen it since (a couple years) :good:

In my last post I was editing and adding what was done to you had the whole "history"!
Now the kindle works fine but I have still plugged with usb to the pc. The problem I had before and was he origin of all the subsequent problems was that when unplugged and surfing internet she power off. Now I left it in version 7.3.1 and not going to upgrade to 7.4.0 in case that was the problem. In a little while I will unplug and see if it goes well.
I used SRT version 1.3.5.

Yes, thank you!! I don´t know now if I´ ve root. I have super user but no have root checker. All previous times I root with KFFA . You suggest try something else if I need to re-root?
I have all my old apps backuped with Titanium, gradually I will recovering them. The others are in Amazon Cloud.
My fear is that one of those applications might be causing the original problem (if that can happen). Because I keep wondering if installing PPP Widget and plug my 3G modem could be the cause of the disaster!!

I saw you mention PPP before, I had not heard of that so I just looked it up on the play store and now I get it. That could possibly be your problem, not certain but possible. Amazon modified stock android to such an extent that what may work on almost all other android devices may not work on the kindle. I would suggest to do everything else first: get your kindle exactly how you want it and then do a nandroid backup, and then if you still want PPP, then try it. Communications always seem to be kind of a sensitive issue with any smart device, so you just need to be really careful when you want to make modifications to the stock abilities of that device. So, like I said, I would just get your kindle where you want it, I'm assuming rooted, custom rom, etc., back it up and then maybe try PPP.

Edit 2: I'm writing alot here, but oh well Do you have second bootloader + TWRP installed? That would actually be your next step. You can do that by following the instructions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128848 Once that's done then you can download any rom you want and go into recovery and flash. If you have an amazon prime account or like the amazon reading app that came with the kindle, I would suggest Kinology. If you don't really care about either of those things, then you can go with CM or one of the variants, they're all really pretty good. Anything else, just let me know

Yes I use root checker too but I don´t have installed it yet. As I don´t have now Google Play instaled then I download Root analyzer from amazon store (is free) and I have root access!!
I will install Google Play form KFFA. Did you agree with that?

He makes good quality and easy to understand guides and it goes through rooting, google play, flashing and more.
I would highly recommend this guide. Also, try flashing Hashcode's cm10 JB rom it 100% working. The link is in the guide.

There's a couple ways to skin this, you could either do like CVanB said or you can also go with Hashcode's method here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128848 I used the Hashcode thread and it worked for me and CVanB used seokun's and it worked for him. I would say you could go either route really. If you go the Hashcode route, after you get that done then you just install a rom and they have gapps included, no need to install seperately :good:

I have what I believe is a Kindle Fire HD 2 ? I do own and have rooted and cyanogenMODed my kindle fire 1st
gen, 2nd gen and my kindle fire HD, this one I believe is the HD 2 running version 11.3.2.3.2_user_323001620.
I have been a member here for sometime and have learned a lot and I very well may have stumbled across
something a few minutes ago. From what I gather this version kindle has not yet been rooted or at least that I can
find any proof of ( my apologies if I am wrong ). I was just tinkering with it and downloaded a root app from here
named Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v35 I also downloaded and installed the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 ADB
drivers from here also and downloaded a file called pwn.zip too.... Anyway....
Under Windows 7 these are my procedures....
1. Extracted pwn.zip to the z2root folder
2. Right clicked RunMe.bat and chose run as administrator
3. Chose option 0
4. Then chose option 0 again.
5. Then connected the kindle to the USB cord
6. Hit Enter and allowed Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v35 run it's course following the onscreen instructions
and it seems as tho I am rooted.
Again, I apologize if I am posting to the wrong forum and I am also sorry I do not have all the steps for instructions...

I need to invest in a fastboot cable, I find no way to get this KF HD to boot into FB =(
I have rooted the KF 1st gen, 2nd gen and the hd1.. this one is only giving me fits trying to get to FB and a recovery.
As soon as I get a recovery on this beast I will be playing with some CyanogenMod or Hellfire Roms.... Im sure they can be used as is.

however, when i DON'T run option 0 as adminstrator, simply as user.... i get a little further along in the automated process, but again, nothing is effected / restarted.
i've also tried option 2 and 4, and they actually got so far as to restart the kindle, however root has not been granted.
any help is greatly appreciated!

Try picking option 0 then option 1 and see what that does... none of the options have done anything other than those 2.
I just done a factory reset to try to retrace my steps and make it further..I am sure 4 eyes are better that 2,

hey there, glad to report that appears to have done the trick, however, i don't believe i ran the .bat as administrator as option 0 then 1 also give me "this path cannot be specified" etc etc errors...
anyhow, i opened the .bat once more as user, hit option 0, then 1... plugged in my kindle.... and i made it to a point in the process where i stalled / hung there for a bit, until i went into my kindle options, disabled, then re-enabled ADB interfacing.....at which point, the .bat script continued, and i rebooted.... happily, with root access / capabilities.
congrats to you for finding this man, and certainly my gratitude / thanks to you, i can now use my ps3 controller wirelessly through bluetooth.....
a question. how can i now disable auto kindle firmware updates so as to retain my root access?
oh no, while charging my kindle i seem to have updated to the latest firmware automatically, thus i no longer have access to root functions!!
currently on 11.3.2.4 user 324002520 as of now..
i've tried to root once more with the provided files but so far no luck, having tried options 0>0 and 0>1, both as administrator and user.

I for some reason am not having this update issue... Have you tried option 14 in the KindleFire First Aid program ?

They have a KFHD Soho 2013 not Tate. KFFA is not for the Soho. The link in my signature can help with this. Get ahold of the dev and ask for an updated firerooter.

Hi there,
Firstly I apologise, this post may be a little vague, as am having trouble getting the truth out of my son. I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me identify what the heck he has done to his Kindle Fire HD 7"
When you turn the device on, despite initially saying Kindle fire HD, this text is soon replaced with a boot screen animation that simply reads "DROID".
When you begin to use the Kindle there is a small carousel of apps over the larger carousel. Also when you rotate the screen to landscape it doesn't seem to reorientate the display and only shows the top half of the screen. It also seems to crash and won't come out of the lock screen.
I am guessing he has tried to either root it or flash a custom rom, he says he installed an app called root master? But cannot see how an app would grant root access?
We bought this for him as a Christmas present, and whilst am sorely tempted to tell him "tough" as he's obviously tried to do something without fully understanding what he's doing, I would like to be able to sort this as soon as I stop being cross.
So whilst I appreciate this is all a bit vague, does anyone recognise any symptoms, and have any insight into what he might have done and/or installed and is there any sure fire method to get this back for him?
A couple of questions:
-> Is it the 2012 version with the camera and HDMI output, or is it the 2013 version that has neither of these?
-> Can you access the settings and enable ADB?
-> Can you solder or are willing to shell out $10-$15 to fix this?

We got it for him for Christmas 2012.
Can get to settings. I have enabled ADB (just to see if I could, and I can).
Does this mean I might not need a soldering iron?
Do not claim to be any sort of expert, so please assume no knowledge here.
But will carefully follow instructions if there are any.
Am hoping to be able to hand him back a working device when he's learnt his lesson.

I would suggest you to use the Kindle Fire First Aid if fastboot works. That way you can go totally stock. And a few more questions:
Do you have the Android SDK installed on your PC? If yes,try using "adb devices" to see if it recognizes the Kindle
Shut down the Kindle. Boot it up. Do you see an orange Kindle animation only or a blue animation?
I suggest you buy a factory adapter from Team BlackHat here if fastboot doesn't work.
PS: Don't be too cross on him. It's perfectly understandable if he wanted to flash a custom ROM. I ended up hating Amazon after realizing what they did to Android....

I like the fact that it has "noob" in the post description.
Although I flashed a custom rom onto my Samsung Galaxy S2 a couple of years back (using ODIN) a lot of the instructions in this Kindle Fire section seem to be very confusing. I wish I'd known he was planning to do something like this, as I'd have read up on it for him (and, most likely warned him off, amazon look like they have locked down this tablet to a horrific degree)

Okay, that sounds a good first place to start. I don't think I have the SDK currently installed but I guess I can grab it again from google.
I take it if the SDK can "see" it we're halfway there?
Just to clarify:
The device is "quite" responsive.
It will boot up (although I cannot find anything on the internet about this boot animation that just draws the word "DROID" - if I could, I might be able to figure what he's tried to do at least) and you can sort of use it (although there are onscreen glitches as described above) and it freezes up when the screen locks (so you have to reboot every time it locks the screen). But, at least it's not totally D.O.A, I guess.

I thought I had solved the problem with a factory reset last night (I'll admit for a second I cheered), but after initially showing Kindle Fire, it then starts going to this blue DROID animation..

I am a lot calmer today, am sorry that the first post was written in "Angry Dad" mode
I was just annoyed that he tried to deny doing anything to his device, and claimed it was "just an amazon update" (when it was obvious it wasn't).
This is why I am hoping to fix it for him, it was a Christmas present after all, and I would like to (eventually, not right away) hand him back a working Kindle device.
I just wish I wasn't flying so blind.
Thing is I'm not 100% sure he know's what he's done, I think he's just blindly followed a YouTube video or similar and he's ended up with this.
I really, really appreciate you guys taking the time to reply to my post.

Okay,I'll guide you through a step-by-step tutorial to restore your Kindle.
Download and install the Android SDK. That is the first thing any Android modding guy must have. It provides you with the ADB and Fastboot executables which you're gonna need.
Download and install the Kindle Fire HD ADB drivers. You're gonna need them since the official Google drivers that came with the SDK are not supported by Amazon.
Modify your path variable. To do this,right-click on 'My Computer' and select properties. Click on "Advanced System Settings" and then "Environment Variables". At this point,you should copy the path to the tools and platform-tools folders of your SDK and paste them in the "path" system variable . See if ADB and fastboot works. Open CMD from Run and type in ADB or fastboot. If it returns a lot of text,it's working.
Now type in:

fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product
It'll return <waiting for device>
Turn off the Kindle and plug it in. If it boots into fastboot,you're good to go with KFFA
If it doesn't boot into fastboot,you'll have to buy a fastboot adapter or make one.

Okay, apparently, he went to this 1mobile market to get a one click root app.
I have not been able to find the app myself, but am very worried that he's been downloading apps from an unofficial app store.
The change to the boot animation seems to have been achieved using a Xposed app (that requires XBlast?). It was after installing this, and changing the boot animation that he says the Kindle started to behave weirdly.
Have not had the time yet to sit down and go through the instructions provided, thank you for those, I will set time aside at the weekend as I don't want to rush it.
At least now I know where the weird boot animation came from
I provide this info as a warning to others.

1mobile is an OK place to download apps from. You just have to make sure the dev is reputable. XBlast can mess a tablet up if you play to much with it.

Alas, not good..
Am stumbling at the first hurdle really, have installed the AndroidSDK all okay but am trying to add the Kindle Fire drivers into the SDK as per amazon's instructions here .
But the SDK they describe doesn't seem to match the SDK environment I have installed (I have version 23.0.0.1245622 of eclipse installed, which seems to have a different menu structure to the one amazon describe?) and whenever I try and get
Eclipse to access the URL amazon has told me to (http://kindle-sdk.s3.amazonaws.com/addon.xml) I get the message "No repository found at http://kindle-sdk.s3.amazonaws.com/addon.xml"
Am really not sure what I'm doing wrong..

Don't do that. Just download my Flasher and extract it. There is another zip inside,which has the drivers. Just install them normally.

Hi! One click root app was probably called VROOT. VROOT is still not identified as safe as there may be malware, sorry :\ However if you have a FASTBOOT cable go on this website and you should be able to restore it without SDK.

by the way once choosing an "option" please wait for at least 20 minutes as restoring the device takes a long process.

Your tablet still has fastboot access which means it's almost surely restorable. The flasher offered above will work and so will the System Restore Tool. You just run the bat and wait to be restored. Make sure your drivers are installed properly. Windows 8/7 64bit need to be put in test mode so your drivers will install right.
Windows is not going to let you do this until you disable device driver signature enforcement.
Disable device driver signature enforcement in Windows 7 read on. Windows 8 has different steps.
Both must be done from the administrator profile to work right
Both of these are for Windows 7 X64 users.
Windows 7 X32 and earlier version users do not have this issue
A.*
1. Reboot and on start up press F8 a couple times.
2. Scroll down to "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement."*
Note: This must be done on every bootup you want to install something not MS signed.*
B. For a more permanent solution.*
1. First go and uninstall the driver (delete driver) you want to replace and then restart your computer.*
2. Now go to the start menu and type cmd.
3. Right click on "cmd" and open a command prompt with elevated privileges (run as administrator.)
4. Now type these in the command prompt one at a time hitting enter after each one.
bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON
bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
4. Now install the driver you want.
5. Restart the computer.
6. Profit.
Note: If you do this right, you will see "Test Mode Windows 7 Build 7601" (or something comparable) in the lower right corner of your screen. This means that drivers not signed by MS can be installed without getting the Windows has installed the best driver already bit.*
If you opt to take your computer out of test mode, the drivers will more than likely be replaced by MS drivers next time. To exit test mode follow steps 1,2 and 3 in part B of my writeup and type these commands in the command prompt one at a time hitting enter after each one.
bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions ENABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS*
bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING OFF
Now restart computer.

Okay, I got the amazon drivers installed on my machine, and had fastboot and adb working from the command prompt after adding all of the paths to the PATH environment setting.
I typed in:

fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product
and I got the prompt <waiting for device>
However when I attach the device, it just boots (with the weird droid animation) - I cannot see anything to say that it has fastbooted. Does it display any different?
I have also typed adb devices and I don't think my PC is seeing the Kindle Fire HD as I get no devices shown in the List of Devices?
Does this mean I need a fastboot cable?
Would installing cyanogenmod on this be an option now? Or would that just make matters worse at this stage?

Actually, uninstalled and reinstalled amazon adb drivers, and retyped:

adb devices
and it output:
D025A0A0241220KP device
so tried the fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product command again, but still the device booted normally

Amazon drivers extracted and installed like a charm (once I allowed them to install to the default location)

The only time you don't need one is if you can access the OS and you have functioning root. If you don't have this then you must have a fastboot cable. If you have a Motorola cord laying around try that.

Ahh okay, I understood that I might be able to get the device to enter fastboot without a cable.
I must have read this wrong.
Okay, as I am not in the United States I am guessing eBay.co.uk is my best option?
Will something like this do the trick?

Hi Everyone:
I am attempting to root and install cm11 on my son's KFHD. I am a bit of a noob, but I have successfully rooted my nook color in the past and read MANY threads on how to root, but I'm kind of at a loss.
The problem is that I followed the thread on how to root and I had a bunch of trouble. I finally was able to get through the steps, but the command box closed before the KFHD rebooted successfully. In an attempt to "fix" it, I restored the device to factory settings. It seems to be working just fine with stock os, but there is a superuser app which has requested access to apps.
I downloaded an app from Mobile1 to check that there is root access and the app indicates that I do indeed have root access. Should I go ahead and try to install a rom?
I would like to root it because my son is using it for school and is having a hard time adjusting to the stock os. (Which I hate, too).

1. Super User is the app that lets apps have access to root. (easy way of understanding it)
2. You need to Install Twrp and 2nd bootlander before installing the rom.

I've run into a new problem today, however. The device powered itself off and won't reboot at all. (It had a full charge). So I am off to do some research on how to fix this problem. UGH.

I didn't flash anything - just tried to root. After several hours of trying lots of fixes and googling like crazy, I was able to get the device to turn on. My WIN7 laptop was not recognizing the KFHD. I tried a different usb port on my laptop and it installed all of teh drivers and recognized the device.
I did go ahead and order a fastboot cable - and I'm glad I did. The day after I got the KFHD working again, it turned itself off again and would not reboot.
I spent several hours today trying to understand fastboot and how to use the cable and a few minutes ago, I was able to restore a system image and get it back to stock. I am waiting for it to charge up a bit and then I'll set it up again. I think it worked because there are no apps or anything installed as of now.
All I really want to do is have access to the Play Store and install an alternate launcher, so it looks and feels comfortable for my kid. He's had the kindle for almost a year, but doesn't feel very comfortable using it and its something he needs to use at school (where I can't help him). Once its charged up, I will re-root - following directions very closely!!!!!

I would recommend you to install a custom ROM like CyanogenMod. Trust me,you'll love it. AOSP is much better than Amazon OS.
