are you kidding me :/ this is the dev-ed... also i guess it doesnt need to be locked to RUU at least it is no needed for OTA updates, the requirements are just has stock recovery and unrooted phone

i got the updated by restoring a STOCK backup (no root) form CWM, then flash stock RECOVERY and then update the OTA, so relocking bootloader IS NOT NEEDED, the only thing is have all STOCK and NO ROOT
You asked about running ruu in your original post. To do that you do in fact need to relock the bootloader. Just saying.

Hi
I've currently got stock 4.1.2 which is rooted, S-Off and with TWRP.
I've been offered the OTA on my phone, but it won't flash because of TWRP.
I've downloaded the OTA from the list on here but when I try flashing that it gets stuck on "Running bug_fix1 tool".
If there's a way that won't wipe my data, then that would be preferred, even if it's a bit of a ballache to do it.
I found this: http://www.icsforums.com/comment/2154761#comment-2154761 but not too sure how to do it.
Thanks

Can you not just re-lock your bootloader, install stock recovery in fastboot? That's all it takes to receive official OTA updates ... I'm S-On though so I'm not sure how it differs if you're S-Off. Might be worth looking here .. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224752
I flashed the stock "Odexed" ROM with TWRP, then installed the stock recovery and finally re-locked my bootloader. This gives you a stock system and will allow OTA updates. As far as I'm aware, re-locking the bootloader won't wipe your SD Card but unlocking does. As I said though, I'm S-On so these steps are needed, I'm unsure if S-Off requires bootloader locking etc so might be worth checking the Android development thread as there are guides in there.

So you're on 4.12, you can't get the update because you have custom recovery, right? .. Try fastboot: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img ... I have no idea if you need to relock your bootloader to receive OTA updates as you are S-Off ... Might be worth searching for S-Off and see if theres a guide to receive OTA's.

It's telling me there's an update available. 416mb to 4.2.2.
I've fastbooted the stock recovery, downloaded the OTA but waiting to install it as my battery level is too low and not near a charger.
I'm S-Off. I'll let you know how it goes!

Guys,
My HTC ONE Google Play Edition received the 4.3 update notification, but when I tried, it gave me a status 7 error and refused to install the update. How can I solve this? I'm using stock kernel, CWM recovery, and it's rooted.
Thanks a lot.

You have to flash only the stock recovery and relock the bootloader
And yes, use that guide.
After the update will be installed

Thanks guy!! I will check the post thoroughly later. However, just one more quick question. Since my device is an original GPE, it looks like all I have to do will be just a fastboot flash recovery & fastboot oem relock? Seems like from that guide, most steps prior to these commands are needed to turn a normal HTC ONE into a GPE one. Am I understanding correctly here?
Thanks again.

Is better if the relock isn't necessary
Guys, thanks for you guys help. I've stocked it back to stock recovery, and have the bootloader locked back. Now when I start the phone, the little lock isn't shown anymore. However, I'm still having 2 issues here.
1) The 4.3 update isn't there anymore!! It doesn't come back even I did a clear cache/force close on the Google Services Framework.
2) It's still showing my phone is still tampered. I booted into the recovery, and it's now the stock one. Is that normal?
Thanks.
Normal because you're rooted
Thanks guy!! I could upgrade successfully.
Hello, I have HTC One Intl (see my signature) on everything stock. Phone is S-off and rooted. Yesterday I had seen 4.3 OTA notification, downloaded it and tried to install, but installation failed in recovery (red triangle with exclamation). I've tried it several times, but no luck - phone reboots to recovery, installation process begins and fails at ~30 per cent.
Help me find out, why it happens (maybe i can find installation log somewhere, but don't know where to search) and how to install this update.
You need:
- Stock Recovery
- Stock rom without root
- Locked/Relocked bootloader
After your phone can install the OTA.

Recovery is stock.
Can I use Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper to temporary unroot? At least it gives such possibility, don't know will it work or not.
Is locked/relocked bootloader obligatory? if yes, I will search how to relock it again.
Thanks.

Dont mean to intrude, but I'm pretty sure he can leave the bootloader unlocked, even root I think
He does need to have stock recovery, stock rom (including the preloaded apps that get deleted when unlocking), I think that's about it.

make sure the "preload" apps are for your version, mate!!
If you signature is correct: "ROM: Stock 2.24.401.8 (Android 4.2.2)" Maybe just best to use the Guru Reset ROM.
EDIT: I recommend full backup to PC first though, just in case!!

BTW: the reason I mentioned the backup to PC, is one time I flashed stock recovery (and accessed it), and i was unpleasantly surprised it wiped my internal storage.

Good luck, and if you do (and wanna help the rest of the community) can you try with both ROOT and unlocked bootloader first, and see if it works.
I know it's a bit of a hassle but at least you would be able to confirm if ROOT or unlocked bootloader are interfering with the update
unlocked bootloader will not interfere with ota,did it myself

probably, you must be 100% stock rom and stock recovery to get OTA's, if you have relocked your bootloader then you will have to unlock your bootloader again so you can flash the stock recovery.
stock recovery is here, as long as your OTA is 7.19.401.2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59082816&postcount=2

Hey , im new to rooting and the forums so sorry if somethings are not properly explained.
I recently managed to root my uk variant m7 unlocked to any service with the latest twrp recovery.
I have recently found the venom rom which i would like to install to futher customize my rooted device, but i need to upgrade my android to 5.0.2 and i am currently on 4.2.2.
in the toolbar it says 'system update avaliable' and after installing it says 'system update ready' and im guessing this will bring me to 5.0.2 firmware. after clicking on it it reboots my phone and for some reason enters the recovery. from this point i do not know what to do.
so to summarise, i need to upgrade my m7 from 4.2.2 to 5.0.2 nut when i do it enters my twrp recovery and i do not know what to do
system details:
HTC One M7 UK variant unlocked to any service
rooted with SuperSU
Stock rom (4.2.2)

You can't update your phone in its current status. You need stock recovery installed, unmodified /system files and /data/preload which is deleted during the htcdev bootloader unlock process. You'll probably need to use a RUU or something else.

A factory reset only wipes user data. Root files are stored in /system partition which is not affected by a factory reset so short answer no, like I said you'll probably need a RUU or something else (stock odex rom/nandroid backup/guru reset rom) to reset your phone back to stock. Post the output of "fastboot getvar all"

If your phone is S-off, you can download the Ota zip files and install them incrementally (can't skip a version) using stock recovery. That doesn't change the fact that all files in /system and /data/preload must be unmodified.
Imo, the simplest way to update if your phone isn't stock is with a RUU. If your phone is stock, reflash stock recovery and update with Ota, if it's stock and soff you can update with Ota zip files if you can find all the ones you need.
