I fully understand devs' work and the philosophy behind developing. And i thank you all devs for your great achievements in mini 2 developement
But, i have a dilema: why did no one tried to develop or port a good old cm 7 rom?
The stock rom is awfaul. It lacks, freezes, reboots... The cm 9-10.1 roms are great, but, let.s face it: untill sammy releasy official jb there is nothing to do
So, why not a cm 7 rom?
I had a galaxy ace once and switching from stock to cm 7 was revelatory...
Please consider my request

i think we can achieve the best performance that can fit into this device
it would be cool to see cm7, i think all drivers must work on it
cool idea i think that will be the right choice until offical jelly bean come
Glad to see others thinks the same
I think for a dev, porting an cm7 rom is a matter of hours.
I wish i could do that but i don.t know how.
Anyway, i hope that someone will complete this task

I really don't think like you. Even S2 in early days had cm7. Now lot of peoples port CM9/10/10.1 and a little bit ports cm7.
Sent from my GT-S6500D using Tapatalk 2
Well, seeing as we'll not get JB, and for that matter a fully working CM10(.1), CM7 seems like a very good idea. With a new stable kernel, without TouchWiz 3.0, and any bloatware, it'll be blazing fast. Plus, the DSP Manager combined with the already awesome stock music experience it'll be more awesome for me. I know it's on the CM 10(.1) but I want a camera damn it! (even though I know it sucks, but it's important kinda for me).
As i said in first post, i really applaud the devs' work on cm 9-10.1, but they (you) have to think that the average noob user (like me) needs a fully working custom rom, even it.s not the latest android update.
So, devs will have our support in developing new roms, in the same giving us a humble cm7 rom for our daily use
I guess that if galaxy ace was running so smoothly with cm7, mini 2 will be lighting faster
And, of course, being arm7 is not an impediment for cm7

Hi,
I just bought a SGS+ and I am curious what ROM shoud I choose?(I`ve seen a lot here) Because stock ROM lag`s every time I unlock phone, sometimes apps lag a couple of seconds and I would preffer ICS based ROM but I can try JellyBean too.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you guys!
Thanks.
Really comes down to your preferences. Some are feature rich, some are slimmed down, still others are aimed at gamers and performance. Personally I'm enjoying the Tsunami builds in the 4.1.2 flavor. Just check out a few until one suits you.

There are many good ROMs, you should try them and decide what is the best for you.
If you want more performance or if you don't want lag, you can flash a kernel with OC support, you can change the governor and the IO scheduler.
Good luck
I too own a SGS + and for me Bio Hazard is the perfect ICS Rom.
While Gigabread + is the perfect Gingerbread Rom.
But that are my views, it may not be the perfect match for you, so just try out all the ROMs, and one last thing, Jellybean at the sec is a little buggy so stick with 2.3 or 4 !
Ty Brahmnoor! I've tryed Biohazzard and it is a great ROM! Till now!
the topic can be closed! ty all!

no probs !
I strongly recommend using Jelly Bean ROMs rather than ICS ones. There are several reasons for that because JB is clearly an upgrade to ICS and not to mention the notorius ICS media bug.
You can start working with cm rom's i find them very attractive. although flashed today MagicBean rom, pretty nice to.
All you need to do is start working in that, keep on trying
My two favs...and the only 2 i switch between after trying almost everything there is.
1. CM9 + Devil Kernel (ICS)
2. Saurom + Semaphore 2.7.4 (gingerbread)
Currently using Saurom + semaphore 2.7.4
Just recently flashed this and im very impressed and pleased.

I would suggest trying out the JB ROM by Ivendor (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2000828). I'm pretty happy with it, especially since I do not use the features mentioned in that thread as buggy/not working.
The overall performance is awesome, the user interface is very smooth and battery life is better than I had with CM9 ROM.

Well, we're stuck with unofficial updates, and for rhose there are Wayland, lagloose, imbawind et al to thank. I myself have now Wayland's CM9 RC4.1 with PSN kernel, and am happy with it. Still need to restore some stuff and tweak a bit... But it's stable enough for my daily use
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda app-developers app
There isn't any hope at all as ace has very low specs, far from the requirements of any 4.0 and 4.1. It has long been announced that official development for it has ceased since CM7.2 Even the official developers don't feel that it is worth the time developing for it. Samsung expected the phone to be a cheap one for all, they released it as a budget phone, so go for custom stock roms, plenty of them are nice looking and can almost mimic the latest versions of android.

If it was so easy now, we would have a lot of 4.4 builds.
But everyone, so called developers, are waiting for build from pawitp, because our device have some differencies.
So, wait for pawitp build and do not pretend as very good ****ty developer who will bouild from source
In my opinion we receive a lot of kitkat's rom very soon!!! for the google nexus s a rom is out! wait patiently for the porting!
Cm and slimkat have started development. But cm says they are in no hurry to release cm 11. And they are fixing compatibilities.
So we are not gonna see a working version of kitkat soon if it's dependent on pawitp.
Well this why I love this community, can't wait long enough to try this out.
Pawitp has started development:

CM have about 25 million users worldwide, and now Cm11 is taking a huge step forward by using this new easy way to upgrade the smartphone system. Omni Rom 4.4 is a new project, with great and promising fectures and developers. What is the best way to go? They will be nearly the same?
For me there is only CM I`m a big fan since CM 9 ...but i think you should test both and make your own decision what works better for you ...

Hello guys. Today I tried the CyanogenMod 9 ROM based on Android 4.0 (ics). Runs very well, even much better than gingerbread 2.3.6. Unfortunately this rom, since it was never properly developed, there are still bugs like camera, wifi, mobile network seems to me, but others as well. I would really like to see it happen ! Ultra stable cm with all features working perfectly (now cm10.1 is best so far but still there are tons of bugs )
I think there is a reason why TheWhisp didn't want to pursue this matter ..maybe because samsung announced the official jb for our phone(that turned out to be a lie...) or maybe because cm9 has a lot of bugs ..and most of them were fixed in jb ..idk , or ics requires a lot of libs and stuff that are not avalible ..unlike jb. Idk , I would like to see a very fast, stable and fully functional cm ..so, good luck !
Why not making a fully working CM7.2 for our device?
I think make a full working cm9 is like when thewhisp worked on cm10/10.1
Inviato dal mio GT-S6500 con Tapatalk 2
let someone else do the CM9
someone who knows how to do, it does not have to be a whisp
or let some ports of a device rom and make CM9
We just have to face the fact that : WE NEED MORE DEVELOPERS IN GM2
you cant expect from one guy to make everything for you
and we had a non-functional cm7 past month but the dev droped it
I cannot work on 6+ projects at the same time. At the moment I focus on cm-11 and cm-10.2, and 3.4.x kernel. If you want cm10 and cm10.1 in the same level as cm-10.2, you have to say good-bye to camera. That's why I don't release any updates for those ROMs. Try thinking for once, not spam about every ROM you want.

It's laudable attempt to convince you The Whisp to focus on a CM who can bring added value to the phone and that works really. Unfortunately The Whisp is used to finish something once you start. MSM7x27a also has official support for Android 4.1. Just out of curiosity, I made a CM10 build with the latest changes from CM-10.2 builds (it uses everything that an official 4.1 ROM from Samsung would bring us), I'd it's not quite faster that the 4.3. If you really want your device to perform at its best, stick with 2.3
I have used GT-S6312 with Samsung's official 4.1.2 Touchwiz'ed Android and it is terribly slow. No wonder Samsung cancelled the update for Mini 2.
And an ICS ROM would have the same problems as any other CM ROM - crappy camera performance, white screen issue would persist etc.
