Hi,
I've never tried a gb rom (in fact any rom), but I'm rooted and ready to go. But which one? So many choices.
What's the most reliable and complete gb 2.3 rom? Recommendations?

You want everything for granted? Test and see which is good enough for you. Maybe someone has other tastes...
Hi Andy,
I've been using MicroMod's ASOP for a while now with no issues (other than those listed, mainly no Video Camera). Getting around 2 days battery life with moderate use, which is better than other roms I've tried.
It's mainly stock, which works for me. Best bet is to try a few and see what you like. Nandroid is your friend!

Micromod's GB ROM is pretty stable for everyday use.
If you want features than the CyanogenMod 7nightlies is stable enough for me to use everyday but it's still a work in progress.
...........
I like Micromod's GingerBread Rom (unfortunately just announced that he will be leaving the building for another device).
The CM nightlies are plenty stable.

Hi guys,
Thanks to all who replied. Seems like a fairly good consensus of opinion, that micromods rom might be s good starting point.
Once I've started (probably with micromods), who knows where it will lead? (Hopefully not to a brick..
)
Just don't want my first ever flash to be something known to be incomplete or unstable.
Ta!

MicroMod's latest version of 2.3 .. and flash redstar's kernel for an awesome battery life.
hi Deekay, are you referring to this redstart kernel: RedStar 925mV Kernel?

Don't worry so much man. As long as you're not flashing an HBOOT, radio, or maybe a recovery, it's very hard to brick a phone. I would recommend trying a leaner, cleaner GB ROM before trying MicroMods, just so you can get a feel for pure GB without all of the extra apps and funky screen transitions. Straight CM7 nightly is what I'd suggest. Check imfloflo's thread.

CM7 GB is more stock than MM AOSP GB? I find CM to be one of the most modded ROMs out there, not that that's a bad thing.

CM7 has a lot of options built in, but so does MM's GB ROM. Both are excellent, but of the two, CM doesn't have any fancy screen transitions and extra apps installed aside from the basics.
Hi all,
Thanks for all the suggestions. Unsure of the "wonkyness" of cm7, I flashed micromods aosp gb rom last night. Did multiple titanium and nandroid backups, bit my lip and went for it.
Superb! Running it now, no regrets so far... all done within about an hour, everything working.
Thanks for all your comments.

Just to make it clear for others as I think there is a little confusion. Micromod777 has released two gingerbread ROM's. His original GB ROM was one of the first good stable builds after the AOSP was released, this finished on v.20 which can be found here:
Gingerbread v.20
He then began working on a new ROM based on Cyanogenmod 7, which is now discontinued as he's a busy man:
MicroMod's Gingerbread CM7 Custom ROM v1.4-FINAL
at all current cm7 users:
i moved away for stability reasons from cm7 around nightly20 after having used it for months. needed 100% safety that my alarm rings in the morning back then.
however i never stopped to check the nightly thread from time to time to be up to date. i now decided to move back to cm7 because i am bored of samsungs slow stock roms and custom roms based on samsungs fw.
as i said i need it as much stable as possible.
which of the recent nightlies has been the most stable for you guys until now? dont want to flash rc since lots of improvements have been made in the meantime.
anyone?

Their all pretty stable now as their has been a lot of bug fixes etc however I do still have a few minor issues where some nightly's don't read my external SD card, but that doesn't bother me, I'm on nightly 92 and it works a charm dude definately ready for everyday use now

First of all you can check the link in my signature to get a look at the problems with the latest nightly's. which you can see don't have problems
In my opinion any nightly from #80 and up are stable with good battery life.
update to gb bootloaders, flash nightly #80 and up! shouldn't have any problems. At least i'm not experiencing any
Thanks for your replies!
Tell me please. I wanna flash ICS in my GT-I9000
Thanks
I guess CyanogenMod 9 for SGS will be the best but it's still in alpha. I can't wait to see stable version (anybody knows when it will be released?). As far I didn't use any ICS rom so notnasty9999 you should wait for other replies.

Without fail daxinfinity's codenameandroid port;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1485734
It's at the level where the CM9 alpha should be - great performance (especially with glitch kernel), best battery life of the ICS roms, and the most customization.
Do yourself a favour as well, install the apex launcher - looks and performance of the stock ICS launcher, but cyanogen levels of customization.
I tried cm9 and onecosmic
And now i got AKOP port 2.02
There is no lags , FC , not stuck , A lot of customizion
And it is the best for me

AOKP 2.02beta with Semaphore 0.8.1 is extremelly fast, reliable, stable! highly recommend.
ive just installed daxinfinitys got to say pretty good no problems so far love all the extra tweaks you can do.
Teamhacksung is the best. In my experience, this is the most stable ICS build (currently on build 16). I have messed about with AOSP and AOSK and some of the other versions and at first they seem better but often they seem to have a fault - lockscreen freezes or problems with my external sd card and transferring large files with my laptop. I have found the semaphore kernerl (latest version) really good when setting on battery saver mode. You can also change the boot animation with ROM toolbox - good stuff there!

is a bad habit.
I am aware of badly implemented search function of xda, but still?
Best practice = read more, try self.
Pattern of phone usage will always be different.
Bro, hello there, I have 2 SGS, one is running CM9 with original kernel, and another one is with TEAMICSSGS RC4.2+Devil kernel 14.2LED, no doubt, TeamICSSGS is my choice, it is fast, reliable, and most major function are working, around 95% of the function are working perfectly, especially the camera video effect, which makes my day..Try it, trust me..=D..have a nice day
Teamhacksung will pwn all the others and still does.
All those 'wow I have a new ROM' which is totally PAWITP's with a bit of my
own (kuch % battery and don't know what other kinda stupid stuff) are so
not comparable.
They call it SLIM ICS because they deleted some apps, wow it has such a
better battery and lightningfast, yeah well every dork can do that (but
they still call it a new ROM mhowhehaha). It's all in between the ears.
Still think there a 2 main ICS ROMS:
- OneCosmic
- TeamHacksung
And TeamHacksung, here flashed on my i9000, is still the best from build #1.
Stable, stock or on Glitch, so no need to flash all the 20 other useless things.
I don't even flash my phone now every week and my phone is kinda stable,
the accu's getting used to the build and with everything on I have a good
phone.
I use AOKP and I am very satisfied.
It has only very minor bugs and is perfectly suitable for everyday use.
I haven't used Teamhacksung as I had the "hello hello" bug in CM7 which others are reporting in Teamhacksungs CM9.
Currently using Team ICSSGS 4.2 with semaphore 0.8.1. Been using this combo for almost two weeks & battery life is awesome with great performance and for what I use my phone for it is super stable, virtually lag free and with no noticeable issues.
While I do miss all the customisations of the CM Roms the "hello hello" bug is a deal breaker for me. There is apparently a solution to actually fixing the bug but this also appears to work for some people but not all. (You can download hbb2_test.zip - http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=4681 if you have these issues)
I agree with inozako TEAMICSSGS RC4.2+Devil kernel 14.2LED, is the best solution....try it
Testing almost all, cm9, CNA ('s), AOKP ('s), MIUIv4 and finally AOKP 2.0.2 is the best, the most stable, the easiest to customize & very good battery.
in my signature no doubt
I haven't tried Teamhacksung's since i have i9000b and it doesnt support it but i did try ICSSGS and i tell you i cant think on a better rom. You should give it a try, since its avalible for i9000, i9000b captivate and vibrant

I'am using ICSGS the onecosmic one. It's pretty smooth, but iam still waitin for a newer relaese of CM9. Well...i like the changes they made to ICS.
I tried the Slim ICS (dark knight) and it seems pretty good
I have not followed to update rom for my device for a half year
So I don't know what is the best rom for Optimus 2X now
I am using CM7 and I feel like I like it, I get used to it.
So that's why I am looking for only CM7 rom.
However, if you have any other rom that you think it's better. Please suggest me, and please tell me why is it better.
Thank you.
this is my device information
Android version: 2.3.4
Baseband version: 1035.21_20110405
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.41-vorkKernel
Mod version: CyanogenMod-7-06212011-NIGHTLY-Optimus2X
Any of them I need to change for a better performance, please tell me.
ps. I suffer the freeze problem sometimes. For now, I use it only for game and chat. When I play a game, I usually suffer that the game hangs, and popup "Force Close"
And sometimes phone automatically shut off.
I was bored, until I feel nothing about it...... (too often until I buy new phone to use as phone, and use 2X as a video game device)
Look for temasek's Kang rom in the Development forum. It's quite stable, has a great performance and battery life is good too.

You might also want to change your kernel. Vorkkernel is outdated, try either ETaNa Kernel or Ironkernel. You should be able to find them in the dev section.
yeah, I know that my rom and anything of that is really old because of I play lots of game and don't want anything to be erased. Also, that time the new rom update too fast. I was bored of changing rom every 3 days. So I stopped following all of these and keep using it.
And now, I think the time has come to modify everything.
Can you guys tell me the best version of everything for me to upgrade it.
e.g. Firmware (my 2x is still V10B)
Baseband
Kernel
and Rom
if you specify version for me, it would be much faster for me to find it
thank you
Allright,
Firmware: Either Android 2.3.X or 4.0 (your choice, however 4.0 is still in alpha phase, so not everything is working perfectly)
Baseband: Different for each and every phone. Do you have good signal and call quality right now? Then there is no need to change your baseband. Make sure to have a matching RIL file with your BB. Download one from the GetRIL app.
Rom: For Android 2.3.X (a.k.a Gingerbread) I would recommend temasek's latest CM7 KANG, or the latest CM7 nightlies, because they are the best and most recent. Temasek can't continue his CM7 work anymore unfortunately, but his Kangs are rock-solid. (Link in signature)
For Android 4.0 (a.k.a Ice Cream Sandwich) you can choose between the latest RC'S CM9 SelfKANG (link in signature) or Owain's CM9 KANG. (dev section) They're both pretty new and are quite stable despite being in an alpha stage. However, not everything is working perfectly, but I can tell you once everything works, CM9 will be much better than CM7.
Kernel: If you use CM7, you can choose between many kernels. The best ones I would recommend are the ETaNa Kernel (link in signature) and Ironkernel. These kernels are the most recent and have the best performance. Unfortunately the dev from Ironkernel, SetIron, left XDA so you cant follow the development over here.
For CM9 there is only one custom kernel available, which is also Ironkernel from SetIron. (link in signature) Although I must say that it's not fully stable because CM9 being in an alpha stage.
Hope this helped
For me, temasek's latest CM7 KANG is the best ROM so far.
However, seeing you havent change ur ROM for the last 6 months and familiar with nightlies, I would recommend you to update to the latest CM7 nightlies.
Just as simple as that. no need to think and you will find your O2X in its best performance.
I recommend Temasek's Kang. I started using is a few weeks ago and it's the best GB rom I've used. I'd still be on it, if I hadn't tried CM9.
thank you all you guys, I will try it soon.
temasek has stopped kanging? Now what?

Go for the CM7 nightlies or for CM9.
Hi All,
this is my first post and I hope someone could help me in choosing the right ROM for my Note.
It's a long time I follow this forum and first of all I would like to thank you so much anyone who is working harder to give a new life to our devices that Samsung is not supporting for marketing strategies!
I started my trip in the white rabbit's hole with Ultimate N7000 ROM 5 because I wanted 4.1.2 TW, but later as I found that my device was not so fast as I expected I flashed my device and I've used SuperNexus M1 ROM with an addition of the NX-Kernel.
I found SuperNexus so clear and not so bad to use (my device score around 10000 in antutu (antutu could be not reliable but stock TW was at 7000) ) but I found also this firmware "poor" in term of functions that will give me a fast/easy to use device aswell (for ex. in quick settings the GPS toggle is missing, etc).
I also found some post in which someone told that SuperNexus is based on CM10 work (why do not flash CM10 ?), so what do you think is a complete Android to be used for anyday use? I'm so confused!! Stunner, Vanilla, Rootbox, AOSP, CM10.1, so many ROMS in the white rabbit's hole!!
I want a stable ROM as I'm using my phone for my work and I can't flash my phone each day to test a new rom.
Thank you so much for helping me! I think this will help also someone is approaching for first times in this forum
Cheers
Max
If you want a ROM that's stable, with high number of features and customizations with a considerable battery performance, download the PAC ROM.
I use Slim and its perfect for me, no issues what so ever. I love it from my SGS days and thats the Rom I flashed when i got Note.
Whats perfect for you? Hmmmm... No one but you can decide mate... Try some Rom over the weekend maybe and decide what works for you.
Good luck
