Hi guys!
Recently jumped from my beloved One x to HTC One..
Used to watch downloaded content in Diceplayer. Awesome subtitle support ++.. Hence my question, I can no longer seem to be able to use it, it only forcecloses when opening media content.
Tried googling it and checking the forums, but can't find any solutions.
Does anyone have/know a mediaplayer that works? The phone gallery can play the video, but it won't produce any audio. Very very frustrating.
Have a nice One!
For reference; the downloaded file is a 720p mkv file.
Edit: Disregard/delete post. Diceplayer JUST received an update to fix bug on our device

Well I had 2 mp4 videos previously on my sd card and they played nice from the gallery in 2.1 but since i updated... the phone says " this video cant be played"
Anyone else with this problem?
Any solution?
thanks in advance

my mp4s still played.
i was on unrooted att update 1 stock. just manually flashed frf85b yesterday and it still works for me on the gallery.
hope you are able to sort your problem out.

you probably used the wrong video codec when you compressed it.

dont think so those same videos were previosly playable on 2.1!
@antikryst thanks
any ideas anyone? anyone else with the same problem?
my nexus is an at&t stock by the way
Yes, my phone too has the same problem. I had few files which stopped playing since 2.2 update. That said, I downloaded another mp4 file and my Nexus One played it perfectly fine. Weird.
are you on the new radio? the new radio has different codecs...
Same problem here man. I have about 11 movie's on my phone + every episode of King of the Hill. King of the Hill is rmvb so I use RockPlayer for those. When I go to the gallery in my videos folder it shows my 11 movies 5 of them have thumbnails and play and then there is the others that don't have thumbnails and don't play but the weird thing is I used the same converter for all of them and the same converter settings and they all played on 2.1 but now only 5 out of 11 do. Weird stuff
Get RockPlayer. It owns.

No it Rocks
I've got the same problem on my nexus one. I can't play most mp4 files and other stuff anymore. RockPlayer is not bad but the video decoding engine of RockPlayer does need more energy as the internal one.
Also rockplayer does not support streaming, so rtsp:// links don't work anymore.
Another issue is with the twitter and twitvid website. It will server a mp4 file (twitvid) of which the system player is capable of playing. RockPlayer is not available to play these files after opening through the twitter client.
I would be very happy about any tip to debug this problem.
Things I tried so far with no success:
Delete cache and data of:
* Gallery
* Mediastore
* Meridian
* RockPlayer
* YouTube
So yesterday I was playing around and tried to get some porn clips to play on the phone. I downloaded a video (using a greasemonkey script) and then I transfer the .flv to one of the cards.
It says something like: "filetype not admited" ("tipo de archivo no admitido")
Does it have to do with the flash version? I have stock jf3 root and lagfix app.
Youtube is ok, spankwire or xvideos, are not. You can see it's a REALLY SERIOUS problem
However, sgs media player is supposed to get along with .flv right?
Is there a way for this videos (or others .flv) to play on the phone apart from converting?
i had something similar happen to me
but of course mine was an almost 4GB file with surround sound all channels and HD but it was on 720 mkv, but it gave me the same message
now i loaded another similar mkv file but it was only stereo and that worked fine
seems like the phone can't support HD audio
I see. So it probably has to do with the audio then.
I can resemble this situation
Like all original, un-modded Droid owners, I was looking forward to Froyo and Flash player 10.1. Well, it finally got here. Sites now work, (e.g. Kongregate) and others. Works with Youtube and such. Does not work with .flv files, haven't tried .swf files yet, nothing seems to play from the device, AFAIK.
I would speculate that what we see when things do "play" on the device is the streaming variety of the media.

One of these days I will get around to rooting my Droid and my Eris. Someday....
I have similar problem. I´ve downloaded Megavideo application and when I try to play the video from app with stock player (and I beleived that Galaxy S stock player must handle .flv without problems) so it starts to play, but only with black screen and no sound. In Rockplayer or others it works just fine. Any suggestions how to help it? Thanks a lot
I think the best option is to just use RockPlayer for this.
I've tried using video converters but it's not worth it because audio/video quality can suffer or even get messed up badly. RockPlayer is just more convenient and simple.
Hi all.
I recently noticed that my phone does not support the creation or reading/playing of any sort of media file, spare pictures. I can view and take pictures just fine.
I'm not much of a you tube user, video taker, music listener, or any of that stuff, which explains why it took me so long to notice this.
Basically, you tube wont play videos, all conventional video files are unsupported across the board actually, including capturing video files. Conventional music files are unsupported as well.
My ROM is cognition 4.3 if that's of any help.
I've tried completely uninstalling you tube, camera.apk and the like, but after reinstalling I still don't have any solutions.
Adobe flash is needed for youtube to work. Get it from the market.
What type of music files are you talking about?
I just got my HTC Vivid/Raider a week ago, I'm running the stock ROM and haven't rooted the phone. When I go to watch a movie on the phone it lags and won't play properly. What I find very weird is if I play a TV show there is no lag.
Both the movie file and the tv show file are the same, avi. But only the movie lags.
I looked around and couldn't find anything about this anyone on the internet and was just wondering if I was the only one to have this issue or has someone else found a way to correct this issue already.
thanks

Even though they both are .avi, they may not be encoded the same. For example one could be xvid while the other is divx. Download MX Player from the market and you should have not problem running either files, in fact you'll be able to play some .mkv (HD) files without issues.
Hi,
I'm watching avi/mkv files that's about 800mb~1GB long and my video is sometimes choppy/laggy.
I also have the subtitles(.smi) on while watching it and was wondering if it's because of that?
One of the reasons I went with samsung was the fact that I didn't have to buy a separate video program nor encode the files, and I was wondering if there's any way around to fixing the lag issue?
Thank you!

Using the stock player i had the same issue.. try clearing your ram via task manager before watching large files.. movies. Or download mx player from the play store. ive been using it for quite some time now and its flawless with a lot of custom shortcuts that make life easy also theres dual core support in which a while ago you could find many players.
hope i helped!
