When I flashed with odin., I did factory reset before and after flash. Bt upgrading in service centre is another thing. Now my phone is so fast. Before going to service centre I have to go to setting>feveloper option> limit bacground> no background process. But now it fast without doing this

Is it possible to downgrade from jellybean back to ics

Hi guys , need some information, I was just wondering is it possible that I could downgrade back to ics after putting jellybean on my phone?
Your help is appreciated.
All the best
Chris.
Sent from my LT30p using xda premium
Yes it is.
How did you upgrade?
If you upgraded via FlashTool you can just as easily downgrade using the same method, just by using an ICS .TFT instead of the JB one.
Any reason why you want to downgrade?
Make sure you do a complete wipe to make the ROM to be good and dandy, and the battery will get better after a few days.
Sure you can, you just need to flash ics ROM with flashtool (you dont need to have unlocked bootloader)
But I dont see the reason to downgrade

Thanks for the replies, I want to go back to ICS due to the major battery drain that I am getting, I have read a few threads now on here and also esato and jellybean battery seems to be very hit and miss.
I live how fast the phone has become but can't live with a poor battery. Got any ideas before I go back to ICS?

ok well , i have just read that formatting to extenal and internal memory helps , so i have just done that .
as you say its a big upgrade firmware wise so going to give it a couple of days and then look at what the diffrence is again .
Ok so reporting back on my T's jellybean upgrade, seems that it's starting to level out a lot now, as I said in my last post did the memory thing and formatted both And the phone has responded very very well.
Seems to get a whole days usage now and maybe a bit more. I always charge anyways over night so nothing to worry about. How's yours?

i had the same dilema as you to downgrade to 4.0.4...
I noticed today that the phone drains 4 to 8 % battery in standby mode over the night.. i havent noticed something like this in 4.0.4 .
I think the battery management was better.
Anyway i will follow your suggestion to wait a few days to level the situation .
I updated with mac bridge . What is the best method if i decide to downgrade ?
I need a clean install method .Format everything and clean install the rom i decide to install.
Also does the repair option in pc companion or bridge does a clean install;
Thank you

so if i got it right the repair option performs a clean install to the existing rom ..In my case it will reinstall JB 4.1.2
If i choose the flash tool i will choose the rom i want .. So do i get it right?
And if so where can i download the original 4.0.4 rom ? thank you again for your help!

Look in the All in one thread. Its the first thread in the Q&A section and has all available ftf files in post 3.
Yep use the original generic UK tft there on the forum mate there is a whole list of them, use flashtool and you'll have no problems.
In addition to that I downgraded my via flashtool and used pc companion to upgrade to jellybean if that helps also at the same time formatted the memory external and internal and once the upgrade was done wiped all data and set up, I've gone a full 20 Hours now and have 40% left which seems like it's done the trick.
Good luck mate.

So i will download the generic uk 4.0.4 rom and flash it with flash tool ..and thats it ? no other actions required ?
i chose this one [STOCK FIRMWARE] [ROM]LT30p Stock UK GENERIC 4.04 7.0.A.1.303 by batman_112
I also going to use flashtool 0.9.10.1 for mac.
Is it better if i use the official sony flash tool EMA ?
In my opinion the Jelly bean update is more of a downgrade then any thing it's very buggy and has a dated looking ui and the new features have been used before on other manufacturers phones like Motorola the lock screen is gay as **** and the camera is now a 12 megapixel instead of a 13 and the keyboard seems to be the same with no new JB features.
Sent from my LT30p using xda premium
Yeah mate that's exactly it, using that firmware and flashtool you should have no problems at all.
I'm going to carry on playing with jellybean for a couple more days and then reevaluate which firmware I would prefer to be on.
Hope that all goes well for you anyways.

If pccompanion restores 4.1.2 that is now the factory Rom. It's the latest official Rom for your phone provided by Sony.
If you really want the Rom you had before the official upgrade you have now, then use any file explorer and open the build.prop file that is found in the system folder.
Find the line that starts ro.version.customisation. And then had 8 numbers after it, tell me what those numbers are and I can point you in the right direction
Anyway, you can't use Emma to flash that, you must use flash tool

[Q] How to update to official Jelly Bean

My Dad has the original unlocked Note, and I'm wondering how I can update to the official Jelly Bean without rooting or voiding warranty, as it isn't showing up in the OTA menu.
Open Samsung kies and Let it download the update or go to settings and update via OTA
Let me know if you have issues with this we will walk you through it
I've tried updating via both Kies and in About Phone, both places say that it's the most recent firmware available.
OK you are on a version that hasn't received the OTA yet.
You will have to install it via PC Odin.
Go to Dr.ketan's sticky thread for step by step instructions.

Try using Setcpu, set screen on time 800mhz-1400mhz :good::good:
Not much you can do about it. This is what samsung gave us with all the delays. The best advice I can give is either go back to ICS or flash something like rocket and speed mod kernel. It will be a bit faster then stock with some more features.
I did the normal steps ... rom , kernal , then the latest software ... it is good but the problem is the lag ! :/ is there a better software or sth cause when I open the ram I find it about 70% is used although not much apps are opened
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
I'm using the speedmod kernel k5-3, the latest from hardcore, noticed my note temperature are not so warmer while in the initial stage after flashing from ICS4.0.2 to JB 4.1.2.
Maybe you can try to flash into speedmod k5-3 to do a comparison...

Even I am using stock jelly bean 4.1.2 but there is no such problem. I suggest you flash the stock GB ROM and do the update OTA. This may take
a long time and data download but you will get all the bug and performance fix. Use stock kernel.
I suggest that you lt th Rom settle a little bit over 3-4 charging cycles. JB sure is not all that buttery smooth as we all expected but it's definitely not that laggy even.
If you installed a custom Rom please ensure that you wiped all the four- system, data, cache and preload. In case you missed any of the wipes, I would suggest you redo the installation as per the exact guidelines by the developer.
In any case the performance definitely improves after a few charging cycles.

Maybe it is best if you flash a safe kernel, do a full wipe and format system, data, cache and preload and then reflash the firmware with ODIN PC.
That is how I usually do the flashing and I don't have such an issue.
wait for PAK rom release. PAK roms are the best ever with no lag issues and almost every fix.
i got the ics late on my note but unlike he german or any other rom its bug free and lag free.
i get the highest benchmarks on my stock rom. So my advice to you is to wait till PAK update, then u can flash it.

I highly recommend you to do a factory reset. Your Note will be much better for sure. My phone was like frozen after the JB update, but it's likely been a different phone when I made the FR. No more laggy at all. The battery is still a big deal though. Remember to back up your data ( I used Titanium) ).
Try installing a suitable kernel. I also had lagging here and there but rom is working smoothly with speedmod n7000 jelly bean kernel.

I also have the lag problem with JB on the first Note.
It is not isolated.
I have the lag. My wife has it. I know several people who have it.
I have never rooted my phone. My wife could not do it if you put a gun to her head.
We upgraded to JB months ago. We upgraded over Kies on the PC.
We have used and upgraded the phone EXACTLY as At&t and Samsung demanded.
The lag has never gotten better.
I have done a Factory Data reset after upgrading to JB to see if that would help...nope.
I do use a Class 10 Sandisk card. My wife does not have a card.
To give you an idea of the lag...
Getting a call.....I might be able to slide and accept the call before it stops ringing and goes to voicemail.
Open a picture...I will have to wait at least 10-15 seconds..if I am lucky.
Sometimes a web page is quick..other times it takes so long that I lose interest.
I have seen the phone just basically laugh at the idea that I expect to use GPS and just lock up.
Add music to the phone...if I do it tonight, I will see it available by morning.
There is no single app that seems to be the trouble and there does not appear to be a heavy load.
At this point I have lost all faith in Samsung, At&t and this piece of ca$p phone.
I have never downloaded anything that was not on Google Play. Neither has my wife.
Say what you will about the apple boys,...their upgrades actually make for a better experience..not this.

In the "about phone" part of settings, it says I have the SGH-I717
I actually thought about going the CM route. The only thing is that I used CM on my son's Tf101 Asus tablet when I upgraded it to JB.
It seems a little stripped down and some features were missing.
My wife Note also has laggy issues ever since the phine was upgraded to JB thru Kies. Now she's bugging me to get her the Note 3. Arrgghh!!!
Is there anyway I can resolve this or else I'm downgrading the phone to ICS, as a last resort.
Pls advice.

Backup everything (messages, call logs, apps, videos, downloads - everything). Once that is done then boot to a custom recovery and format everything you can see:
/system
/data
/emmc
/sdcard
/.android_secure
and any others that you see
After that then clear the cache and dalvik cache, once that is done, connect your phone to your computer to copy a custom ROM. Flash it, let it boot, restart and flash coh kernel.
That is for TW if you want a really clean start, try to keep as little files as possible. Use greenify, freeze/uninstall apps that you don't use.
Alternatively you can go the CM way. Same instructions just flash instead of a TW ROM then flash a CM ROM and Raw Kernel r3.

I'm having the same issue with the Polish firmware. Jelly Bean was advertised as being faster and smoother but after updating from 2.3.6 to 4.1.2 via Kies my phone became really laggy (menu animations are choppy as hell, some apps like the phone one take up to 3 seconds to start up) and occasionally there are some really annoying lock-ups where the phone becomes completely unresponsive for 1-2 min. I tried doing a factory reset but that didn't do much. Overall I'm really disappointed with the official 4.1.2 update. Will rooting my phone and installing a custom core like CoCore help in a noticeable way?

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S Advance Lag issue after Update thorugh Samsung KIES

I recently updated my Samsung Galaxy S Advance with JB 4.1.2 through Samsung KIES software. Earlier my phone wasn't lagging with the Android GB version, and I was able to play games without any lag. After updating it to JB 4.1.2, I'm experiencing lagging when I play games or browse internet.
I haven't updated any ROM, I purchased a new phone, connected the phone to KIES using USB cable. As soon as this connection was successful, it should me a notification that a new Android version(JB) is available, hence I updated it.
Please provide me some solutions so that I can remove this lag.
Enter recovery mode. Factory reset, wipe cache.
Root, custom kernel and remove bloatware. Thats all you can do on stock to feel better.

I haven't updated any ROM, I purchased a new phone, connected the phone to KIES using USB cable. As soon as this connection was successful, it should me a notification that a new Android version(JB) is available, hence I updated it.
Please provide me some solutions so that I can remove this lag.

As you said, I did factory reset and cleared cache as well, but in vain. My phone still lags.
Does anybody have any other method? Downloading custom kernel will void my warranty, so I don't wanna do it.
Does reverting back to GingerBread is the only option?
Thanks Razvan and others for replying.
Thanks in advance.

You don't have to worry about warranty because rooting and flashing custom roms/kernel for jb is hassle free and does not trigger your binary count. So, that means when you want to claim your warranty, just flash back your country official firmware and you get back your warranty. As long as you do everything right and you don't lose your download mode (means you don't brick your device) you have nothing to worry about regarding the warranty.
You can also revert back to gb if you want but I prefer to stay with jb for the apps I use. It's not a massive lag for me. Just slight delay when opening dialer, contacts and camera but the rest is awesome.

Thanks arffrhn for the reply.
Can you please help me with the steps of flashing the custom ROM, to remove this lag? Also can you please let me know which custom ROM is better, with lesser or no lag?
Thanks in advance.

Here, you can follow this guide here. Make sure you read everything and do exactly as it says.
It is recommended that you back up your imei. Follow this guide here.
For stock based, many users said that LightJB is great. You can try that but I prefer to use Pure Vanilla because of the looks. You can also try cm-based roms although it's still in beta phase. Look in the original android development section.
Edit: Btw, which version you have? I9070 or I9070P? Make sure to check that first before flashing anything. You can see that at start up and also at about phone in settings.
