Backup Apps and data before installing a rom

Hello
i swichted from stock rom to custom rom, but i recognized that everything was deleted.
So how can i Backup the apps and other data in order to put it back after installing a custom rom.

Titanium backup from the market.
Widgets position on the homescreen will not be saved unless you use a custom launcher with a save setting.

Sync your contacts with your google account, no need to backup them then

Was using mybackup root on my hd2, and was Able to save position of the icons of home screen. Maybe it is working also on GN?

galaxy s3 backup problems !
can you guys please tell me how do i restore the apps, contacts and everything i recently backup (on the phone storage) while installing a custom rom wipes everything?
that means i have to backup everything to the PC to be able to restore them after installing the rom
also samsung kies won't detect the phone as it has a different rom

I dont think it can be restored alone. check this, may be it can help, post #28 (it is for Galaxy S III though)
The good thing is that root explorer always creates backup automatically.

Glad to hear that, you mean you extracted from nandroid and restored using cwm? please share, so that it can help others

yes and no... i extracted from nandroid backup and restored thru adb.. using ur link

flashing new roms

hey... im a little new to android not tht a noobie but still just learning... i hav an SG Ace running CynogenMod 7.2... i had flashed few other roms as well... but everytime i flashed a rom i had to delete everything... apps contacts messages etc.. i hav an ext3 partition using S2E.. when i flash another rom do i hav to clear the partition as well??? is there any way i can retrieve the apps bak into the new rom? i know theres titanium backup but last time i flashed a rom the backups in titanium back up vanished n i had to restore from CWM backup... is there any other way.. any way off keeping the apps on the ext partition secure n being able to use them on the new rom?
many times i see ppl flashig roms very often do they clear everything as well?

use apps backup and restore link is provided below..that is the back and restore im using..but before flashing other ROM u shud back up the apps via apps back up and restore and then back up to ur computer.

You can use My Backup and My Backup Pro
Works Fine for me :d

app looks good...=) does it backup app data as well? for eg. if i backup a game n restore will the game data be there? or whatsapp will the chats be there?

okay thts weird=| it doesnt even show up in playstore on the phone...

Unfortunately, nandroid and titanium are the only ways.

Guys, is their any way when I shift to a different ROM, like from touchwiz to AOKP or AOSP, all my apps are kept!!?. cause I have a lot of apps installed which measures in 2-3 gigs.. so Plzzz??..

you would have to wipe before moving to AOKP or AOSP if you want to keep your apps+data you can with titanium backup pro if you are rooted.

now that you asked for the procedure for backing up with TBP, i will assume that you are rooted already. Get the app from market, choose the backup location, run the batch operation (check mark on top right) choose backup apps+data (do not backup system apps as restoring them on custom rom is not advisable). Flash the rom of your choice, install TBP again choose the backup location, restore the apps+data from batch operation.
Edit: just fyi you can also ask the same question in your thread you started, the thread you open is not limited to one question, you will get answers to your question if you continue asking questions instead of creating a new thread.

When I checked there. I saw the option to backup user apps. I just run that right?. and then I should wipe off everything in the CWM to flash a new ROM and then all I have to do is to just restore my apps.. .. Thanks a lot buddy!!!

if you move down further you will also find backup userapps+Data option. i just found the screen shot on google:
Here it is from older version but should be there.
Edit: follow the instructions on how to in the Custon Rom Thread.

backup the user apps + data so that you are able to retain the app user data as well.

[Q] How to backup IMEI?

EFS Pro does not work on my S5830. Have also tried various apps from the play store. I paid for " EFS backup *samsung*" and got the message "Nothing to back up. Can't find ESF partition". I want to install CM11 over Gingerbread but want to backup the IMEI first, as nearly all threads suggest. Is there anything out there guaranteed to work? Phone is rooted and CWM recovery has done full backup but does not backup the IMEI in a way that it can be restored on its own, as I understand it.
Any advice appreciated.

Try Galaxy Toolbox.apk very useful to backup and restore IMEI of Galaxy devices.
