I think the problem was I tried flashing cyanogenmod from a custom rom, or I wiped the OS. I can't turn off the phone or get it into recovery/bootloader. If I hold down the power button it the buttons light up but it never turns off. Am I going to have to wait until the battery runs out? It was at like 66%.
Yep just wait till battery runs doqn then go into recovery mode and flash rom from there, its not a good idea to flash a rom wile running your rom.

Thanks for the reply, after I flashed the zip, I wiped dalvik, cache, data, and system in TWRP. Did I wipe too many things? Usually I wipe these before flashing a new rom, but the guide mentioned wiping after flashing.

I'm pretty sure you would only need to wipe cache/del cache after flashing
Use the file attached to see if you can get into recovery and sideload the rom again
Press shift and right click inside the folder and choose open cmd window here
then type adbreboot recovery
that should get you to recovery

I am not sure what you mean by pressing shift and right clicking for the cmd window, when I shift and right click in the folder nothing different happens than if I just right click.
After you flashed the Rom, you erased it by wiping system...you do your wipes before, never after. The zip should still be on internal, unless you wiped that too..

the zips should still be on the internal, didn't wipe that.

For what its worth, I've ran into the frozen hard boot issue and read in the international forum that if you hold it over/under a bright light while holding down the power key or power/volume key it will then work. I tried it after being hung up and it worked for me. Just wanted to put that out there in case anyone runs into that issue in the future.

Ya theres your issue when you wiped system you wiped your rom. That shouldn't be done unless your about to flash a new rom but my best bet is to drain the battery then charge it for a couple minutes and reboot your phone and flash your rom since system only wipes your rom not your files.

I can vouch for this as well. I tried every other method out there to get it to reboot (adb, button combinations, and the like). Went outside and pressed power and volume down in front of my car headlights, BOOM reboot. Weird, but useful knowledge, I feel like it should go in the FAQ.

No, he isn't bricked yet. He just stuck at ANDROID text. So maybe half-bricked. If he can enter Recovery Mode then you are in good luck. If he can't then bad luck, but if he can enter Download Mode, then lucky come to you ! (then if he can't, congrats... you have a trashed phone.)

Lol...don't be afraid nothing has happened ...since it uses aroma installer you should not wipe data before flashing miui...
Here is what you can do...
Flash a new rom may cm7 or anyother (not miui) ...then again boot into recovery and flash miui without wiping data ...afaik you will be ok...

Hi,
I used Hasoon's all in one tool to successfully unlock the bootloader on my One, and flashed a recovery (TWRP).
When I went to install a kernel (Bulletproof) I messed up and installed the boot.img file from bulletproof instead of loading it through recovery (dumb i know).
Now my phone just constantly reboots itself, it gets to the HTC splash screen for less than a second, and then reboots again. Holding down power + volume down does nothing either.
Can anyone help or suggest anything please?

Try holding just volume down. Do you know how to use ADB? if you time it right a fastboot reboot-bootloader will get you to bootloader or you can do it through the all in one toolkit you will have to close the first window at the right time and it will send the command for you.
And some light reading pertaining to your issue

Well looks like it's time to learn.
First thing that just might make this easy. In the all in one under commands there is Erase Cache. Click on that hit the ok button and then close the first window. Next windows will say waiting for device now with a little luck upon one of the reboots it will catch the device and wipe the cache. That should then allow you to hold volume down and get into the bootloader. If not let me know and we will proceed to option 2
Read through those threads and the first one was the closest to my problem.
Tried the Boot into Bootloader and Erase Cache commands from the All in One tool and both just give me "device not detected" errors. Tried them multiple times during the phone booting up, but its not even being detected by my PC.
I can't even turn the bloody thing off it just sits there on my desk buzzing every time to restarts itself.

Sorry watching the google IO man some cool new things are coming :good:
Ok now down to business. I am guessing your computer is all set up and you have drivers as you already installed a recovery. So do to the all in one toolkit then go into the data folder once there hold down Ctrl and shift and right click on empty space. You will get a option to Open Command Windows Here do that. A black dos command box will pop up. type
fastboot reboot-bootloader
it should say waiting for device
Nevermind that's not going to work. Try this when your phone is starting up hold the power button until screen goes black then immediately hold down volume down and don't let go. Try with the phone plugged in to computer and without

So reflash recovery you think or should I factory reset it and start again?

I would reflash custom recovery do it a couple times and after that wipe the cache. Power down the device and then turn it back on and go to recovery.
Make sure it has a decent charge on it like 30%, 50 would be best.

Use CWM because at this point you are going to have to sideload the ROM. So find the ROM you want and download it. Then rename it to rom.zip then from the all in one go to side load a rom and in clockwork mod go to the same thing might be under advanced.

Installing a custom kernel on top of an unmodified stock ROM is a very bad idea. You don't have to go full custom like TrickDroid or ARHD, but there are rooted/somewhat modified stock ROMs available to use.

If that's what you originally did then that's what caused this to happen. You can not install a custom kernel on a stock Rom. Unremarked is 100% correct. Also check the Rom to make sure it supports a custom kernel. Trick droid is nice coupled with a custom kernel you can use the HTC logo for a menu button

So....
From here install a custom ROM via sideload through the all in one tool?

HELP!!! I tried to install a ROM and all my data were gone and my SD card files look pretty messed up so I decided to wipe the system and return to Stock later.
After wiping the system, I realize the OTG storage cant be mounted and the HORROR begins. My phone got no OS to boot.
I tried to flash stock boot image and recovery and tried installing the official RRU. It failed. Now I can't even boot to fastboot or recovery.
It is stuck at HTC Quietly Brilliant splash screen.
I know some of the steps I did were pretty silly.
I need this phone tomorrow.

when you press power+volume down (without releasing the keys) for a few seconds (could be 20-30, doesn't matter), what happends?
first of all you data from you sd wasnt gone it just gets moved to support 4.2.2 multiuser.
what you should do is use all in one toolkit to run the fastboot commands for you. then i would sideload arhd 10 to your phone.
im running it now and its absolutely perfect

Can you boot into recovery mate, go into bootloader and reflash custom recovery if you cannot. Get into recovery and adb sideload either Android Revolution HD 9.4 or 10.0, the rom should begin to install once its transferred over, It takes a while so let it do its job to transfer, also make sure you have up to date adb drivers and files, otherwise adb sideload wont work.

awesome bro. happy flashing:victory:
Hi,
I downloaded a JB 4.2.2 CyanogenMod ROM from the original development's thread. I tried a couple of similar ROMs previously, but my home button doesn't work correctly on apparently any Ice Cream Sandwich + ROM. Essentially what happens is, when the screen is on, the home button is completely useless. Pressing it down, waiting for a few seconds - it just doesn't respond to any command. There are almost no options in the phone related to hardware buttons, and if I, for example, select an option to make holding down the hme button bring up the multitasking window, it still doesn't do anything. The only situation where I observed it doing anything is when the phone's screen is off - pressing the button instantly wakes the device up. I tried flashing the badass kernel, though it didn't really do much. Other hardware buttons seem to be working just fine. I had no such problem on CyanogenMod 7.2 and when I restore a backup with this system, it still works correctly. I don't have problems with getting into recovery either.
Another thing with this ROM is, the lockscreen doesn't appear, no matter if I set a security pattern, set it to slide or whatever else. Pressing the wake button or home button instantly wakes the device up.
I'm not sure whether it's a ROM-specific problem or what, but regardless, as a new user, this is the only forum I can post this problem to. If anyone knows a solution or if such a problem was solved previously, I'd be happy to learn the fix.

Hi All-
I spent several hours trying to get ADB to work on my Verizon LG G2, nothing worked (device not connected error). So I flashed the latest TWRP for the Verizon LG G2 from the Android Development section using Flashify. I can get into recovery using an app, but I can't manually get into recovery using the rear buttons. I power off, hold the power and volume down buttons..then when LG comes up I hold them again and the phone just reboots. I have tried this a thousand ways, and I can't manually get into recovery (which scares me). It seems everyone else is able to do this, maybe do I need to reflash recovery using the ADB method if I can get it to work? I can get into it now through the OS and make backups, I am just worried I will flash a rom and NOT be able to do that. Any ideas what I can do to manually get in?
Thanks-
Sean
I'm on my phone now but had the same problem.
Flashify was the culprit.
Change computers and find the thread asking for a video of how to install TWRP. I followed the instructions and it worked.

Hi All-
I spent several hours trying to get ADB to work on my Verizon LG G2, nothing worked (device not connected error).
Thanks-
Sean

Try holding volume down + power
Immediately when LG appears let go of both and ONLY hold onto power, should boot into option to factory reset
Hit power button 3 times to continue, then itll load twrp
let me know if this works.
Thanks!
Thank you illyfilly and bodom_hc. Bodom_hc's method worked. I know others must be having this same issue/maybe someone should post it up somewhere. I really apprecaite the time you both took out to reply to me. Now I can flash rom's like I have for every other device. Much appreciated, thank you!

Flash Recovery, not Boot.

Thank you for this! I was having the same problem. I have to admit, I panicked a little when it said it was proceeding with the factory hard reset, but then the recovery screen came up. Phew!
Thanks again.

Thank you let the crack flashing continue
Was stuck in boot loop could not get into recovery.
I was having a similar issue - tried to flash TWRP using flashify and got to a point where I could load into my ROM fine, but nothing I tried would get me into recovery mode - the phone would just show a couple lines of text and then a black screen. Fortunately I still had adb access and used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449670 (along with youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZSjL6FCyxA).
Using this stuff I was finally able to flash TWRP 2.6.3.1, and from there I had a stable recovery to work with. 2.6.3.2 and 2.6.3.3 did not work for me when trying to flash with Loki, but 2.6.3.1 did. Not sure what the deal was there, but I was probably doing something dumb.

Can anyone quadruple confirm that doing this does NOT erase all user data/settings and factory reset the G2? I'm honestly too scared to do this as I can't do a nandroid backup without TWRP... Thank so much!

It does not erase, it takes you to recovery

Thanks! I ended up downloading FreeGee from the Play store & flashing TWRP the way. Worked and booted into recovery. Still seems weird to me that flashify would make you go to the permanent reset function and say yes.
That's how it works with a locked boatloader. Pretty common.
Thank you

I thought i sh*t bricked my phone and pants. FreeGee soothed my soul.
Flashify
I tried Flashify and it didn't work...It didn't flash the recovery img i selected that was placed on the sdcard. I saw a post about FreeGee on the first couple of pages of this thread and gave it a try. I was very happy that it worked on the first try...
Freegee worked great for me also. Flashify did not.
