Bluetooth headset Google voice search/Google Now stuck on Initializing - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have an issue with my HTC One. When i try to use voice recognition via my bluetooth headset plantronic Discovery 975 the phone is stuck on Initializing. I've found thread talking about a similar issue for the razord Max but none for the HTC One.
Do you know if there is a fix or a solution to this issue ?
Thanks !

Nexus 4 has the same problem: stuck on 'initializing' and softly saying 'one moment please' (or the Dutch language equivalents).
On a wired earpiece, it does work.
It just gets stuck at initializing.

I'm reviving this post because after the update of my HTC One to android 4.2.2 I thought the issue would be resolved. But the update didn't solve it.
Has anyone found a solution to this issue ?

Try turning on keypad touch sounds under the sound section in settings. It's a weird bug but that fixes it. Same thing happens on Samsung galaxy

its same with sennheiser ezx 60. htc one x could recognised whatever i said. but one sucks.

Thanks for the answer. Unfortunately I tried to do it but didn't work . Only solution i found for now is to activate the car mode.
Then the voice recognition works but not with google now.
Any other suggestion ?

Solved!
Still no fix coming from Google, but at least one nice guy made a temp fix while they do it.
Look for "Voice Command" app on Google Play. Developer's name is IT-DEV-CROWD or code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=42178#c37
It worked for me, after trying a lot of different configurations.

The fix works nicely for BT headsets. Any solution for wired headsets? I would like to place a call in the middle of listening to music... Not possible!

Kaiser Microphone Problem with Loudspeaker On

Hi,
Does anybody else have a problem with microphone when loudspeaker is on during a call? Ive had quite a few people complaining that they cant hear me when Ive got the speaker on. As soon as I switch off the speaker, they can hear me fine. Does not matter if I place the mic close to me or move it further away, they still say they have trouble hearing me with speaker on.
Any ideas if I can resolve this? Have tried AGC setting with no success.
Thanks
I have the same problem for a while. Can't use speaker phone. It was working fine before so I am thinking some of the software that I installed render the speaker useless. I will try to backup everything and then do a hard reset to see if the problem still exists.
My Friend; I have the Same Case in my Kaiser and I post yesterday this issue but with no luck . we have to find a solution for this bugs, I tried something it might improve it a little ; during the call reduce the Speaker volume to be 2 degree only and it might help. But we have to know if it is a common in all devices or not
I tried the Hard reset but it is smae and no luck yet
I just tried the method proposed in abother thread here and it fixed the problem! I disabled the Microphone AGC in the phone setting and it works fine now. Save me some hassle.
are you sure of disable AGC as I tried but it is the same result
i have the same problem, and i don't have the auto mic gain enabled. i haven't hard reset yet, but it stopped working properly after i installed resco voice recorder and/or vito voice...
Looking at another thread, it may be that the speaker is half duplex. I.e you both cant be speaking at the same time. Wonder if this can be resolved?
My Kaiser comes by default Microphone AGC disabled, and the problem persists. Any suggestion???? thanks.

Precisely you are right. I do not think by enabling/disabling the Microphone AGC does help. This is apparently a design fault. I have got my set replaced from the service center but still having the exact problem.
I wonder if HTC can fix this problem! I read from one of the threads somewhere that one of the users found the MDA Vario III works perfect...though they are also of the kaiser family....

Same problem, and i haven't modded mine at all. Using the default ATT ROM and tried speakerphone, couldn't be heard...
I had the same problem when using my TyTn and attempting to use the speaker phone. I was hoping this would be resolved in the TyTn II but it's the same problem where the person you speaking to complains they can't hear you properly.
I think its a common problem in this model as my device is brand new and same problem
Strange. I was making some tests last night, talking to another person using the speakerphone.
It worked just fine most of the time. Her voice was a little distorted due to the bad quality (maybe just bad equalization) of the speaker, but she told me she could hear me well. She told that even though I was speaking far from the mic and not that loud, the sound came just clear to her. The only thing she noticed was that I sounded like an answering machine .I also tested running some programs while speaking to her.. and then, coincidence or not, she heard some static for a second or two.
I also tested speaking while she was also speaking, and we both heard each other. It worked as a full-duplex.
I must say that it was late at night, so it was all silent. Except when my dog started barking, he was far away at the yard, and she heard him too.
I used it some days ago while driving, and she couldn't hear me. I had the radio on, and there was traffic sound and stuff. I had to turn the speaker off because I was driving and I was in a hurry, so I couldn't test any further.
Later on, I tested it with my girlfriend when we both were in my car and I was driving. She said she could hear me, but then it started echoing due to the loudness of my speaker, and that was all we could test.
I had Microphone AGC disabled in all tests.
I have the same problem... the other person cannot hear me when i am on speaker
i have the same problem!!!
This is a serious problem it appears most of us are having with the speaker phone microphone.
Has anyone logged this problem with HTC?
It looks like a s/w update will be required to fix?
I am using with an MDA Vario III UK and it seems to be working fine, I have not had any problems even after installing software or by having AVG on or off.
There is a problem if both parties speak at the same time where either person may not hear the other, I think that is to do with a duplex problem mentioned earlier in the thread.
It appears a number of people have the problem and a number do not. It may be software version related.
I am using the following software on an AT&T Tilt:
ROM version: 1.57.502.2
Radio version: 22.45.88.07H
We need to find a pattern with the problem, Can others share what software they are running and if they have the microphone problem?
Speaker problem is software
I can confirm that it is a software problem. When I recieved my MDA Vario III didn't had the speaker problem but as soon as I flashed my device with either the kaiser or tytn II rom the problem occured. Don't know how to solve it...

Please help verify this problem on your phone

This is such a simple problem..
I tried explaining this to HTC tech support but they only have AT&T phones to look at and hold when customers call in.
The AT&T HTC One (M7) phone uses a custom setup for its car dock mode.
I am asking anyone who does NOT have the AT&T version to do a simple car dock mode test.
Here is the problem:
In Car Dock mode (whether you launch it via the app drawer or you plug it in to the official dock which launches it for you) in the bottom right corner is the SPEAK icon.
Launching SPEAK will enable you to call someone or search for music by voice (simple) it also has confirmation though unlike Google Voice Dialer or Google Voice Search.
(there is no icon in the App Drawer) it is only accessible in CAR Mode.
The problem is when you launch it, by design it searches through your contacts and music for just a few seconds to check if you have new contacts or music since the last time you launched it and becomes aware of them. So when opening SPEAK it says on the screen:
"PLEASE WAIT A FEW SECONDS WHILE UPDATING CONTACTS AND MUSIC".. (not the exact wording but close enough)
(it also says audibly via the speakers "PLEASE WAIT" (again, not the exact wording but close enough)
Then when its done searching (about 1 - 3 seconds) it makes a tone and starts listening for your commands.
This works perfect and its a great feature when driving.
NOW HERE IS THE PROBLEM I NEED TESTED:
When a bluetooth device is connected it will hang on the screen where it says:
"PLEASE WAIT A FEW SECONDS WHILE UPDATING CONTACTS AND MUSIC".. (not the exact wording but close enough)
At this point you should hear "PLEASE WAIT" (again, not the exact wording but close enough) but that NEVER happens, it just hangs there until you disconnect the bluetooth device and then reconnect it. Upon the bluetooth device reconnecting it finishes searching and works without any problems.
NOW PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY..
It works with a bluetooth car stereo, headset, etc just fine if you launch the SPEAK app from the Car Dock icon. All is spoken through the bluetooth device and all is perfect like you would expect.
Its ONLY when launching it via your bluetooth button that it hangs.
So the audio stream is working either way, but its the initialization from the bluetooth device that causes the hang..
THIS IS SO SIMPLE TO TEST FOR ANYONE WITH A BLUETOOTH CAR STEREO, HEADSET, ETC. EXCEPT FOR HTC BECAUSE THEY ONLY HAVE THE STUPID AT&T VERSION AT HTC TECH SUPPORT (argh!)
I managed to get it to work back to back successfully only once but I can not get it to do it again.
IF I can get a few people to verify this flaw we can get a fix started via HTC.
I tried to report the problem to them but they can not see what I am talking about so directing them to this forum after others verify it might just make the difference.
Any and all help is very appreciated, thanks...
Really???
143 views and nobody can take a second to test this with their bluetooth accessory?
so sad...

Well, I don't use BT devices, but I have one here somewhere.
I will try to recreate the conditions you specified. I can only do it tomorrow though.
Anyway, did you try that with other BT devices?

Yes, it clearly states above that I have tried it with 2 earpieces and a bluetooth Stereo for a total of 3 devices.
This is why I need some other results from other HTC One owners with a bluetooth.

Sorry, I must have missed that. The only thing I found was "bluetooth car stereo, headset, etc".
Anyways, I found the earpiece but it needs to be charged. I will test it as soon as it has enough charge.

Well, I did it. And it seems you are right!
When I try to launch the Speaker app (in Car mode, obviously) it hangs at "Just one moment, preparing your contacts and music now".
I don't even get to hear the "Please wait a moment".
If the app is launched from the phone itself it works as designed. So, bug confirmed.
Unfortunately, I could only test that with one old BT car stereo, as I couldn't connect the One to the earpiece I have.

Thank you for taking the time to test this.
I did not get a lot of responses but you have confirmed for me that it will do no good to return this to T-Mobile just to get another one with the same design flaw.
I know the international versions of the HTC One (M7) are basically the same as the T-Mobile version minus the additional T-Mobile software.
The international version has been upgraded from 1.27 (that is T-Mobile) to 1.28 and now 1.29.
They have claimed in version 1.29 better bluetooth device recognition. (whatever that means)
So if I can just get the version number you have, I can confirm if this is still a flaw or one that could go away with an upgrade
(whenever T-Mobile releases them)
I am hoping you are not on anything other than 1.27 and if yours is indeed a non-Carrier specific version (international) that a simple upgrade will resolve this..

Mine is indeed the International version, but unfortunately with 1.29.401.12 firmware.
I would like to do more tests though. Maybe it's something we forgot to do. If anyone else could test this hypothesis, please do so!
As for the "better BT recognition", I have to say that it does find BT enabled devices very fast (although I couldn't find my old BT earpiece...).
bt fault confirmed
Just tried this with same phone and exact conditions. Can confirm same results and hanging.

Same for me...
If I press the steering wheel button in my car to open a voice command, it hangs. If I press the 'Speak' button on-screen, it doesn't hang.
Software number 1.28.771.6
This is an Android problem I believe. Google now voice search doesn't work when I am connected to blutooth in my car on any phone I have ever used.
So I didn't expect HTC speak to work either.
Sorry gunnyman but you've got it wrong, I am currently able to use Google Voice search just fine and I've always used Google Voice with numerous Bluetooth headsets & car stereos however this HTC Speak problem is exactly that, its the app itself that needs to be updated to work properly through bluetooth.
As for your Google search bluetooth problem, not sure why you're having that issue but it definitely works just fine. On the HTC One I have my JVC car stereo forward track button set for a long press to start Google voice search and I use it all the time in the car.
I have had several Android phones with Google Voice Search and its always worked for me whether its a custom ROM or the stock phone all the way back to the original G1. We can always use voice search.. maybe not voice search over Bluetooth since that was not available until later versions of Android.. but once it was added it works great, not voice dialing ( that still sucks ) but the Google voice search/actions portion. G1, MyTouch 4g, Galaxy S, G2x, HTC DNA, HTC One etc..

[Q] Any fix for speech recognition when using bluetooth?

I regularly use the mic icon on my keyboard to invoke Google's speech recognition in place of typing. But when bluetooth is connected, it doesn't work at all on my HTC One. I know it can still hear me because in Google Now I can say "Google" and the mic pops up. But it doesn't seem to recognize that I'm saying anything after that. And when I press the mic button on the keyboard in any other app, it does the same thing, just sitting there as if I'm not saying anything.
Prior to buying the One, I was running CyanogenMod 7 on an HTC EVO 4G and it worked fine (speech recognition by pressing the mic on the keyboard worked over bluetooth). I'd be willing to replace the stock ROM if a custom ROM fixes this issue. But the closest I've come to finding any other references to this problem through all of my previous searches seemed to imply that this is a Jellybean issue, not something specific to any ROM.

I did some more searching and found a number of people complaining about this bug showing up on Samsung devices when they got JB updates. It only affects the phone when paired using Media Audio, and there are a few "fixes" that I've heard of so far:
After activating voice to text, adjust the volume and it will then initialize.
Turn on "touch sounds", and voice to text will initialize immediately when invoked.
Turn off Media Audio pairing, which of course means you can't stream media over bluetooth. But if you only use it to make calls, it's an option.
So, given these fixes, it seems obvious that this is a bug and not an intended change from ICS to JB. I'm still hoping someone out there has a better fix than the three above, but I have yet to find it.
Yeah, I've got this same bug on my One (rooted; stock T-mo ROM). The volume change trick sounds do-able, I'll try that when I'm paired to my car stereo today and see if it works.
UPDATE: Volume trick worked. It's certainly not a permanent fix but it's better than nothing.

Sound problem when calling solved by custom ROM?

My friend has a problem with his galaxy s4 active. His microphone and speaker work perfectly when testing with music and audio recording. But when calling someone the speaker is dead silent and the other person can't hear him. I saw a bunch of threads where they reheat the audio IC and so on. He is running android 5.0.1. Now my question is: is this a software problem and can it be fixed by flashing CM? Thanks for any and all replies.
Edit: If you're wondering I know how to flash custom ROMs and have a lot of experience doing that.
I have the same problem, no sound when call via telephone app. Videos and music are prefect to. The best is when I use WahtsApp and call to someone everything is ok. So I think hardware is ok but something is blocking standard telephone application. I reset my phone (wipe) and reload rom but the problem wasn't gone.
I'm still looking for any solution so maybe someone can help.
Tx
Samsung headphones are not working too.

Echo issue with headset in video talk (Android 10)!

I recently updated my phone to android 10. When I speak with the headset plugged in via whatsapp, duo, or any video calling app, the other person on the phone hears its own voice. This problem disappears when I unplugged the headset. This issue occurred after updating the phone to android 10. Does anyone have the same problem with me or know the solution to this problem?
I have the same problem.
Did you find any solution?
I couldn't find a solution for the problem. When I researched the problem on the Google, I read that the same problem occurred in other xiaomi models, but then the problem was solved by updating. I guess the only thing we can do now is to solve the problem in the next update.
yes, i think the same. If it can help you, i saw that bluetooth headset doesn't make echo. I hate bt headset ahah but better than nothing
Thanks for the reply
This is common problem off all custom roms for Samsung galaxy s6 and some other galaxies for all voice calls. It is driver problem.
