In Cm rom 10.1 for lg optimus 4x there is a problem : fm radio do not run..
infact i try to use Spirit FM but no audio also if tuning runs very well..
so i try some things to set audio but no luck..
but today i try a trick that NOW its' runs very well and i hear audio..
Finally we have also FM Radio Working (Audio and Tune)
And i'm very happy..
The trick :
1) install a custom rom (PAC,AOKP,CM or other..it's no important
2) install alsa mixer from market (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.skvalex.alsamixer&feature=search_result)
3) runs alsa mixer and install bin files
4) install Spirit FM Lite (from thread of XDA by Mikereidis) or Buy Spirit FM unlocked from market (it's a great app)
5) open Spirit FM from appdrawer,Yes for root permission and set it for your country (Band in khz)..Also In Settings page of Spirit FM choose Debug and Check ALSA PCM OPEN..Leave all settings in auto mode..
6) For Audio in Speaker - Open ALSA Mixer and check these Settings : Left SPK Mixer INB2 and set it ON
7) For Audio in Speaker - Open ALSA Mixer and check these Settings : Right SPK Mixer INB2 and set it ON
8) For Audio in Headset - Open ALSA Mixer and check these Settings : Left HP Mixer INB2 and set it ON thanks jonnya70
9) For Audio in Headset - Open ALSA Mixer and check these Settings : Right HP Mixer INB2 and set it ON thanks jonnya70
10) Now relaunch SpiritFM and you can hear audio and tuning your favourite fm stations..
EDIT
As reported by some users (Thanks Lamerduck) and me Spirit FM has some problem as loud volume and no audio when screen off..So use these settings to solve them..
Setting for normal volume (no very hight loud)
Settings-->Audio-->Volume Scale from 100 to 10
(you can increase this setting in 15 for a volume little loud)
Setting to Enable FM Radio Audio when Screen OFF
Settings-->Debug->Silent Loop (check it)
* Probably audio works also you unchecked ALSA PCM OPEN in Settings-->Debug..Yesterday i test without this setting and Audio Works so well..So you can test and report it..
Naturally you can create a script with Script Manager that runs on everyboot to set these parameters for ALSA..Infact on every reboot alsa mixer lost these settings so every time you can use fm radio you can set these settings on alsa..
PS i find this trick in LG Optimus 2x Thread for Spirit FM..
This is the Original link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38831550&postcount=8
i have only change settings for our ALSA (INB2)..So Credit for sudden36
These trick it's no difficult to use..
EDIT I edit a simple script from lg2x discussion changed the settings for OUR ALSA Configuration..
So you can use it for run on every reboot using Script Manager or you can use in init.d..In zip you find also my p880.conf that provide settings for FM Radio Audio and a little loud volume for speaker..
Also i attach xbin files for alsa mixer so developer can use it for roms and Alsa Mixer 1.0.9 (16 jan 2013)..
Mikereidis (developer of Spirit FM) has release a first experimental version of Spirit FM Light with LG P880 Support
This is the link where you can download it and report some problems too
Version 12062013 (NEW)
http://d-h.st/i5I
I also found a way to make the audio come from headphones as opposed to the speaker.
Set Left HP Mixer INB2 and set it on
Set Right HP Mixer INB2 and set it on
then the audio will come out from the headphones

yes..i want to write a new guide for use also headset using HP Mixer INB2..
So now we have FM Radio working ,audio and tuning, in headset or speaker..
Tne Only thing that remains to make is to switch audio only in headset when you plug jack and viceversa..infact now with these tricks audio works in headset and in speaker at the same time..But i think that with other test we can to have also the correct switching audio from headset to speaker..
thanks OP for the tip. alot of users here would probably benefit from it.
But as a rule of thumb when it comes to posting such guide, and since you wrote that you found this on op 2x's thread,
it will be good if you place a link to that thread.
One you are acknowledging this guide to the proper dev
And two you are proving that your guide works without you spending any effort
If you simply can't find or link the thread, or if you think what you wrote came from you,
posting a proof-of-concept would be good, since of course people would think twice before doing anything.
Hope you understand.
Tip: Adding a [GUIDE] tag to your title will help in letting people know what kind of thread this is.
How do you set those options to on in Alsa?

Yes i undestand,so i edit my discussion..thanks..
and i finally find original thread so i can write original credit..
I write also in discussion of spiritfm to report it so maybe mikereidis could be add these tricks to next version of spiritfm..
However the tip rocks, the only problem is that it's no possible by now to switch audio from speaker to headset when you plug headset jack..infact audio remains on in speaker and in headset at the same time..but imho it's no a great problem, almost audio now works and this is the important thing..
@juanacevedo
you must install ALSA MIXER from Market, and open it,install bin files and set these settings..then go spiritfm and listen music..Remember that on every reboot settings lost so you can create a script for ScriptManager or you can set it every time you can listen fm radio..
nice work
can you provide the bin files and their destination, so that we can implement them into the roms?
i'd do it myself, but i'm messing around with bootloops ATM
thanks in advance
@zicoxx Yeah, I already have everything installed but how do I actually set the settings? There are no options to set them to on just a prompt where I can type something in.

@laufersteppenwolf
Yes,these are the xbin files for alsa mixer..
And then i upload also alsa mixer my conf where there are the correct settings (mine are also for loud speaker volume)..
So now you can use for roms..
OT However THANKS for your kernel and your roms..generally Thanks for you job for LGO4X..
@juanacevedo
uhmm..it's strange..
Do you have a custom rom ? Do oyu have root permissions?
When you launch alsa mixer what appair on screen?nothing?black screen?
You can try to copy alsa mixer xbin files in xbin folder (system/xbin) and set as permission 755..The you relaunch alsa mixer from drawer and see if something appairs..
IF again nothing something do not work well, maybe you must tell us what kind of rom you use,kernel,etc..so we can help you..
@zicoxx I just get to this part and I don't know what to type in. (screenshot below)
I'm on CM10.1 with the standard CM kernel.

it's so strange..
the four parameters that you write in alsa mixer should be ok for spiritfm audio..2 for speaker (SPK) and 2 for headset (HP)..
Do you have install on your rom some audio app (sony walkman, beataudio or similar)?
You use DSP Manager?Any Music Effect in Settings Audio of CM10.1?
What kind of Cm10.1 version you have?Nightly or RC?
I use now CM10.1 20130519 by arararagi..And i use also Volume+ as Music FX and no problem..But i don't use DSP Manager..And i use the last SpiritFM lite build..
What version of SpiritFM you use?
Try with the last if possibile..
And you can set also in --Settings-->Debug ALSA PCM OPEN and in Settings--> Audio set on Samsung Broadcom (audio 'll be very very low but stable..)
And the last thing, you can hear FM audio in headset?..
Thanks for the tips....I have one problem though. When I switch off my screen, the as o uh and disappears..... Anyone else experience this?

thanks! i searched for it a long time ago and now i finally found it^^ works really great!
hey guys,i'm happy that this trick works!..
Next step:
i think that now it's the time to make something so everyone can enable audio for fm radio in simple mode, maybe flashing zip on CWM or TWRP..Or i'm thinking to create a simple apk that make this trick..
So if Someone, developer or everyone wants to help us for developer these things,i'm appreciate much..
in every case i'm try to simple these tricks..
So stay tuned..

Hello,
I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570 with a stock rom with Hebrew menus (didn't come with the phone, I flashed it but it's basically stock with Hebrew menus). I'm trying to use a custom mp3 notification sound. I used Ringdroid to cut the song and make it available on the notifications menu, and it sounds fine on Ringdroid and when playing the sound file itself, but when I actually set it as the notification sound, the sound is very low. I searched around and seen some people complaining about it but no actual answer, so I was hoping someone here can help.
Thanks, Ohad.
Yeah I used to have the same problem.. nothing can be done for that. You have to root your device and flash a patch for dsp manager if it doesnot work you have option but to flash a rom like cyanogenmod 7 it has a fantastic sound quality..

Thank you for the answer. I've flashed the DSP manager app now, it seems a little better. Are there any suggested preferences to use with it?
Thanks, Ohad.
Well that purely depends on you you can set to your own taste well for the phone speakers you can enable bass boost and set the equalizer to acoustic and for your earphone settings just use acoustic only and enable virtual room and set it to studio. These are the settings I use rest depends on you and your needs.. and FYI these screenshots are just for earphones..

Okay so here we go!
I wanna show you how can u quickly increase volume of your headphones.
First of all you don't need special downloads, just try with your best music player (i'm using PowerAmp).
Follow this steps:
1. Connect your headphones to your uber Ace I
2. Turn on FM radio. Choice some station, make volume 0.
3. Back to menu without closing radio.
4. Turn on music player (like PowerAmp) and play music.
The radio will switch off when u hit play.
5. Back to menu (still playing music in background).
6. Turn FM radio on again.
7. Feel the difference )
--- If something goes wrong try again switch player / radio on. Working with all roms (not tested on CM).
Known isues:
* sometimes when your music player is in background, volumeup key will increase both radio and player volume. (if player is on screen then is okay).
* you can destroy headphones by using max volume all the time.
* your head may explode
SO USE THIS WITH BRAIN !
Hit THANKS if you like this and leave comment of your experience

try this method few times... switching on radio / player. You should finally find method to do this.
edit:
* try to start with player, then radio, then again player and radio again. FM radio for the second run should turn on only by clicking on icon - nothing more.
* try to kill radio and PowerAmp process before.
+ suggestions:
maybe it depend what kernel u got. I am always using Rafael's one. Ofc it's only my suggestion, nothing more.

If someone watched movie, You can see that i got modified Radio. This one is from sgs3 v5 rom by Sniper Killer. I just copy this to Ex-Trim rom by using file manager with root permissions. Anyway, the trick works also on stock radio too. If not work then i'm sad. If some dev may explain me why and how this working (or why i got this beautifull bug) then i'll thanks alot
Maybe this could be usefull do make some sound boosting app.
Movie is not fake. 100 % real record, nothing added or changed.
I used my old sennheiser headphones for better quality of record sound.

Hello ! As you all know Sound quality has been terrible on our Z1 since Lollipop came out and Sony has done nothing to fix it so now i have gotten enough and i wanna do something about it myself. I have been reading lots about sound mods and have been comparing them with others but i cant seem to find good one to fit my purposes so i decided to ask here. Im not looking for stereo mod or anything speaker related or like that, i just wanna get the true power what it is capable to produce to my headset like on KK and to be able to adjust the equalization and bass etc like we used to before Walkm... i mean Music app sound enchantments stopped working.. i have XPhonePlus Module from XPosed to enable old audio modes but its currently broken or something since doesnt work...
So basicly im looking for audio mod that:
- Brings back the volume that we had in KK. (In LP its much lower volume.)
- Makes equalization working again. (After LP, had never worked, not in Music beta or the not beta one)
- Makes surround work again (--||--)
- As good bass without losing quality as possible
- Being able to keep the sound enchantments in other apps too not just music app
- Works on stock rom
- As stable as possible, im not really good updater.
- Needs to be able to change settings on the fly. (on LP sometimes equalizer settings take effect on reboot)
I know all my requirements arent necessary possible but just something that way !
I have Bluetooth headset and wired one and i use both so it needs to work on both. i listen mostly electronic so extra bass related mod is never a minus. Im not looking to change music app since i like it so that is not an option.
Im taking suggestions and im gonna pick the best one based on popularity and comments so please share your favourite mod here an i will check it out !
Also im a noobie so i might need instructions i have root ofc and nuts recovery and xposed. im on .270 5.0.2 LP
@migidid
I'm gonna try to answer :3
1. Edit your mixer_paths.xml, need root, there is also many guide in XDA
2. Equalizer works correctly, I don't know why you have such problem xD
3. Surround works too, but only when using headset/headphone.
4. This need headset/headphone with nice sound range too, you can +bass from stock Equalizer, I'm used Poweramp and Poweramp equalizer + Sony equalizer
5. Sony Sound Effect have a global effect for your speaker and also from another sound media too, but I don't know about surround effects (didn't try this so much) xD
EDIT: It's works on Poweramp, just tested it :3
EDIT2: It's not working on Poweramp, it's "blank" sound, sorry xD
EDIT3: Got a fix, must disable Direct Volume Control and enable MusicFX and you will get Surround Sound effect xD
6. I'm on Sony stock L ROM build .270, rooted
7. Nothing bads, if you know what are you doing xD
8. Sony Equalizer no need reboot to take effect, it's immediate :3
I don't like use Viper or another Sound Mod like that, it's useless (for me), since Sony already have in build Sound Effect. I'm only used nice headphone (not high res), modified mixer_paths.xml and Poweramp. :3
Hi all
I'm using PowerAMP Beta 709 for listening music, LG Music player is decent for me, PowerAMP can resampling up to 384Khz, but on LG V30 it's not working when i choose resampling to 384Khz, its just back to 44.1Khz.
Only 44.1~352.8Khz is working, i tought it's bug in PowerAMP but NOT, LG forgot some line or intentionally not adding 384khz in 24bit Direct PCM. So i fix that.
Every Music player that use flag Direct PCM can use 24bit 384Khz now without going back to 16bit 44.1Khz ofcourse if there music app that support 32bit 192/384Khz will also work if using flag direct pcm 32bit
Requirements :
1. Unlocked Bootloader
2. TWRP installed
3. Root
How to install?
1. Just flash with TWRP or
2. Extract and put to system/vendor/etc and change permissions to 0644
Hi thanks for the mod
Got one question about how sound works on a v30.
I usually listen to songs like 24/96 or higher or sometimes the mqa from tidal, the question is will the viper4android downsample my songs? As I saw on all devices I had it installed that drive status reports 44kHz sampling rate even when I was playing hi-res music.

I'm never try V4A but yeah your song is downsampling, maybe V4A doesn't support or use direct pcm or even snapdragon 24bit offload so its still use Open SL ES 16bit 44.1khz for output.
Maybe someone has better answer than me, cause i never try V4A.
Hi, will give this a try but how to undo if something is not right ?

Just open the zip file and see for yourself which and how the files are modified. It's just a quick edit of both instances of audio_policy_configuration.xml. It could be edited by hand, same as with the high impedance mod.
Kudos to the OP for the useful tip !
I'd like to test if LG has fixed this issue on stock Oreo with the July update. I have a library full of FLAC music files; so the next step would be to install PowerAMP and select 384kHz? I'll edit this post with results.
EDIT: US99820D (July stock ROM) has the bug. Flashing the fix resolves the issue as revealed by PowerAMP beta. I did notice though that having the "Enhanced" DAC preset enabled introduces intermittent static noises in certain songs. It doesn't bother me, since I keep it at "normal" and set the digital filter to "short." Very nice sounds with Sennheiser HD558.
Thank you @Rizal Lovins for the fix !

No, too
I sadly cannot get this fix to work things still only play 352.8, when I try to get it to sample fully to 384 it jumps down to 192. This fix just seems to do nothing sadly. Trying with USB Audio Player Pro
Im having trouble with the Dolby app, when I active dolby the sond decreases about 15-20% and with headphones you can change the EQ 3notches.
It also changes the default EQ in Google music for example to the Dolby version were you cant increase the bass in the EQ. Is the some workaround for this? Or does anyone else experience the same thing?

Switch off volume leveller if on. In my case with the option on it lowered Bluetooth audio streaming considerably...
I personally installed ViPER4Android and totally switched off Dolby, since I find V4A much more enhanced and can be fine tuned to one's liking. Problem is that while streaming through Bluetooth, it's really inconsistent and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But if you're mainly using a wired headset, I suggest you give it a go...
Yes I understand, but I just got it dosen't jag want to root it yet! Viper is one of the best things along with xposed to Android(vanilla of course) but I hope someone can remove the restrictions for headphones in the Dolby app, if I coymuld I would. Best reegards Pierre Gothenburg Sweden det

Dolby itself is not the problem but did you attempt to turn off volume leveling or not?
xposed is nice but there are much better options out there. To my knowledge xposed still reverts art back to dalvik and decreases performance quite considerably imo.
You can either try volume boosting apps on the play store or you have to root. If rooted you can either use Viper, or modify system file (mixer something xml - I forgot the name of the file) to boost the volume.
Just because the device is new doesn't really factor in to if you should root or not, imo, unless the root solution is not stable which is not the case here. You can always unroot later and if for some reason you reach a point where you can't uninstal root, you can attempt to send the device back to Moto and hope you get a replacement.

If by "it complains" you mean the warning you get when you raise the volume too much, it's there on purpose to avoid damage to your ears. If I'm not mistaken, the only way to disable that is through root and xposed...

All restrictions are to avoid damage to your ears, that's why you can change things to higher values on speakers but not on headphones... You would have to root to have full control over this.

All restrictions are to avoid damage to your ears, that's why you can change things to higher values on speakers but not on headphones... You would have to root to have full control over this.

You can do several things with and without root:
No root: disable headset limitations guide - https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.**********.com/disable-safe-volume-warning-no-root-required/amp/
With root: Install V4A app and set it up to your liking, or don't and just use Dolby but disable limitations with an xposed module. You can find several guides on XDA or through Google.
As for V4A working with Art or Dalvik, I'm no expert and don't understand what difference this may make regarding audio quality, but I can tell you V4A works perfectly fine with a headset on my G6+, as well as on several of my other older devices, too. Only issue is Bluetooth streaming which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, depending on which audio device you're connecting to, but I can live with that...
Edit: the stars in the link I posted should read '**********'...
Edit 2: XDA app keeps removing the word... It should say d r o i d v i e w s without the spaces...

Thanks for your time and knowledge, I couldn't find a good way to bypass this exept disabling it! I fond another EQ and cant say that I hear ny difference. Maybe in The movie mod, but I'll finetune it so you cant hear any difference. At least not in my A-jays 5 or my Bluetooth headset, but I prefer The A-jays 5 beacase of the sound and it dosen't drain my battery (Bluetooth))!

Just in case you're wondering, that domain is filtered from XDA for constantly and shamelessly copying content from the XDA Portal.
