Hi Guys,
Wondering if comeone could shed some light on something. I have searched for similar issues, so sorry if i have missed something.
I have gone from an iphone4s to a HTC One and i love it, i cannot fault it, apart from one small issue. I have noticed that where i would get 3G signal on my iphone, i no longer can get with my HTC One. Its mainly at work where getting a 3G signal is rare, so there are known hotspots in the builiding. With my new HTC One, i cannot get a steady 3G signal anywhere.

Hi guys
I've had my Ignito for a few weeks now, love it. But, I can very rarely get an HSDPA signal?? my old Orbit II always had a full signal where I work. Has anybody else got the same problem, or changed radio ROM and found one that works better (im using 05 at the mo)??
Thanks for your help
Some people are claiming that .08 gives them a better signal, but you will get wildly varying reports depending on who you speak to.
Best bet is to just try them all for yourself, you can flash a radio without affecting anything else....Always a good idea to make a backup tho just in case.
I've got the Ingnito as well and have never once had an HSDPA signal, the only thing I ever have displayed is the E icon for EDGE despite living and working in an area with solid HSDPA coverage according to O2's website. I'm not massively bothered about it as EDGE is fast enough for my needs generally, but it is mildly annoying to pay for a 3G handset and never be able to take advantage of it.
Glad im not the only one having that problem. I'll try a few of the radios and report back.
Thanks
I've had the Ignito for two weeks now, and whilst it the HSDPA signal isn't as good as on my Touch Cruise, it's still there and seems to work perfectly, both in the UK, and when I was in Barcelona last weekend.
(Slightly off-topic, but I've noticed the battery getting better and better every day, to the point where it still had 30% last night before I went to bed! )
Is there any way to improve the phone's signal reception? I'm not talking about getting fast 3G instead of edge/gprs (although that would be great) but just getting more bars.
In some areas where the signal isn't strong my nexus always seems worse off than other phones, which is annoying especially when it loses signal in some indoor or basement areas (where other phones on the same network have a signal).
Buy a range booster
I'm just going to contact google/htc to see if I can get a replacement
HTC are saying I need to send it in for repair, which would mean living without it for 10 days.
Other than not having another phone to use at the moment, anyone had experience sending in a phone to HTC for repair? Don't want to wait 10 days for them to say it's fine and charge me.
use it on landscape mode and hold it using your left hand. I've noticed that by holding it on the bottom (trackball, mic) it loses signal.
For the amount of money I paid (unlocked) this is just ridiculous, going to sell and get the legend or desire when they're out
From my understanding the Desire has the antenna in the same place as the Nexus. But I guess is going to work better on Verizon.Good luck.BTW,how much you want for the N1?
Don't know to be honest but if you're interested in an unlocked model in the uk get in touch
You want to get a replacement phone because your nexus has trouble finding signal?... Thats ridiculous, any phone will have problems if there's no network coverage in that area.
Its a new contract you want, not a new phone...
You misunderstood, my nexus is getting weaker signal vs other phones on the SAME network in the SAME area
Hello Folks,
I am posting this thread after a very long time on XDA as I was not using any HTC device.I was using Iphone since it was launched in USA.Now I bought 3 nexus one for me and my family with very high hopes but after iserting my simcard into it since last week I am very much disappoined.beside other samll issues like less responsive touch screen the problem I am having is a cellular signal. I am using this phone in the same area where I was using my 3gs phone and it was giving me full bars. And with nexus one I am having a really hard time to get signals some time even no signal and my calls are being missed/droped.I believe due to this problem battey life of the device is not impressive. And that was the main reason of quitting Iphone as I wanted multitasking device with better bettery life.I spoke to nexus one support line for few times their response was good but I it did not help me as I am having same problem although they offered me to replace device.but the thing is I already have 3 devices and if they are giving me same problem.
All I am hopping is a new upgrade to fix this issuse and I have no idea if this gona be fixed with the software upgrade?.
Idea of this thread is to get feedback from other folks using ATT/Rogers version of Nexus one specially in Canada/Western Canada. And any advise /help form my experts folks in this respect.
Your taking time in reading this is much appreciated.
May Almighty Bless you all.
Thanks.
I am using the same version of the N1 as you, with Telus. I have had absolutely awesome coverage, so I'm not sure what the source of your signal issue is.
Really depends on where you are. Western Canada is a large place. I'm using Fido in Calgary and I don't have any troubles at all.
using rogers in edmonton.. signal is considerably worse than my old blackberry 9700.. but only slightly worse than an iphone 3g.
Hi Folks ,
I really appreciate all of you for your feedback and advise.I hope that more peoples will share their experience here. One thing I would also like to share is that I am using home rom and did not go for bootloader unlocking and on my phone problem I have is with the cellular signal.my data signal is always on 3g as I am in city of Calgary. My son got his nexus one bootloader unlocked and installed ceynogen 5.06 rom installed I used his phone aslo for a day and only difference I noticed is that it shows "H" when u do browsing on data and otherwise is stay 3g.but with home it always show " 3G " sign and never to to "H" .but when you check details of connection it tell you that it is connected HSDPA.
If anyone else noticed the same? or anyone else getting H sign with home rom?
your views/experience regarding Home vs Ceynogen rom are also appreciated.
I am still looking for the actual benifit of having ceynogen rom over home?as I did not see any difference.
Thanks once again
I already answered you in the Nexus One General forum. Try not to post the same thing everywhere.
Hey guys, I bought my N1 2 days ago right when Google announced they were closing down N1 sale..... I was on the fence for long!!! I am trying hard not to like the phone yet since I have seen some signal issues with this phone! I live in downtown and work around the same area, T-Mobile coverage map shows strong signal but my phone keeps switching between Edge and 3G. If that is bad enough, some times it shows 3G and if I try accessing Market, I get data connection lost error!!
When phone was shipped, it came packaged with 2.1.1 and soon after I got an OTA and upgraded to 2.2!!
Is it how it is going to be? I use this phone for work so definitely can't keep it if I can't get good signal. Is there a fix without rooting? Can I try a different radio or something!??
Also, I have contacted all 3 companies in the mix and waiting for the response! Any help to get this thing fixed, if possible, would be greatly appreciated!!!
It could be that you are just in a bad Tmobile/Att area, the Nexus One has a small problem with signal strength, nothing that has EVER dropped a call or stopped me from surfing.
its really sensitive to your hand blocking the antenna. leave the internal antenna exposed by slightly spreading your fingers apart. antenna is on the bottom behind the words HTC.
question: why are so many recent cell phones so sensitive to the hand obstructing the antenna? samsung galaxy s is it worst that i've ever seen. HTC nexus one has this issue, htc incredible, desire, nokia e71, etc. is it because these phones are getting so thin that it puts the distance between our hand and the antenna that much closer? i cant think of any other reason. i refuse to believe that its from poor components considering samsung, htc, nokia, all different manufacturers have the same problem. so it cant be quality of components.
Ive been having the same issue from Day 1 with my nexus but only in certain areas. Buildings where the T-Mobile coverage map shows 3g but it just switches back and forth edge/3g when i pick it up(block antenna)
Thanks a lot for all your response guys! So if I buy a rubberized cover, should it improve the situation?
Don't trust carrier coverage maps. Where I live tmobile promises good coverage. I got zero bars. Try to compare the reception with another phone on tmobile.

Its a bummer that carriers lie on their coverage map! This is the only T-Mobile phone I ever owned and I don't know anyone else with T-Mobile 3G handset!! Well I just have to see next few days and decide whether I want to stick with it or not! I really hate to return it though!
I've mentioned this in another post but I'm really struggling with this phone in "weak" signal areas. I have weak in quotes because I don't think it's that weak. Whilst everyone is using their phones around me I can't even get a signal. In weak areas where I usually get two bars on the iphone, this phone is showing no signal at all. Even if I get a signal the call quality on the other end is really bad and keeps cutting out.
Is anyone else having any issues? I'm specifically on about 3G and 2G.
Hopefully it's just my phone and an exchange will sort this out... I hope so because I love this phone but I can't cope with a phone that only works in high signal areas!
Thanks

My phone seems to get better reception than my others.

Yeah i agree with this, phone service has been second to none, best i've had on a phone in recent memory
I am using a UK version in the USA and I am having exactly the same issues on 3G...
I posted a new thread on this about 20 minutes ago..
I hope someone has a suggestion, or I will have to send it back...
Too bad, I really like the phone.
