[Q] Bricked V - LT25i - Need Help - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

hello,
i was trying to add scripts to init.d for increasing the ram capability and after doing everything i rebooted the phone. After sometime found that phone did not got booted. Blank screen and no led indication. Removed the battery, tried for fastboot mode, flash mode and combination keys nothing helped, no vibration, no led and nothing even after connected with charger. When i removed the battery and connected charging cable with battery not inserted, the red led indication is getting flashed and it happens everytime i do so.
I kept it in charging using normal charger came with device for more than 4 hours, still no indication and nothing. When i rebooted the phone for last time(before the prob happened) battery was around 60%.
Device : LT25i / Xperia V
Unlocked Bootloader
Kernel: FXP
Rom: CM10.1 RC2
Suggest me what to do, either to wait for red led indication or do some other trick or take it to Sony (mine is out of warranty, i purchased it from another country).
Thanks

anyone to help or have faced similar issue.
when i connect the device to computer, under device manager (running windows) i get unknown devices. under unknown devices it shows "QHSUSB_DLOAD". I googled about this. and found htc guys able to unbrick the devices using this mode in linux. Any idea or suggestions with this bricked V

Yes, i have a nandroid backup of device(before modding). but how i can restore it. I can neither boot into recovery as device doesnt respond for any key press nor flash with flashtool as device is not going into flashmode / fastboot mode.
I found the drivers for QHSUSB_DLOAD from google and installed.
After this if i pull out my battery and connect the device to computer back with battery or without, windows recognize the device as "Zeus Flash Device" under USB ports. Then i tried SUS, device not found, tried PC companion update software service, it found the device and it shows "phone/tablet is being installed" then after 2-3 secs it again says "pc companion not able to connect to phone/tablet, please disconnect and connect again" . Then i start from update and same thing happens.
Before installing those drivers in windows the pc companion update service was just struck at step 2 i.e connect your device, it cannot detect but after driver installation it detects but fails immediately. any other step or I am doing it wrong
Thanks for your reply.

Try this.
Pull the battery out and wait one minute.
Then charge it with your wall charger for a couple of hours.
Then, attach in flashmode, but do it this way.
Hold down volume down button, keep it pressed and attach usb.
Then before letting go if the volume down button press the power button.
Phone should vibrate, then let go. You should be in flashmode

i went to sony service center. but they are not providing support for this device in my locality, they are asking me to go to another city and they are not sure about that to as this device is not launched here and i am about to join my vessel (im a mariner) in next week, so seeking sony service will not yield me anything in correct time.So i have to try myself hard, so expecting guidelines from you
yes i pulled off the battery and waited for around 10 mins and put the battery back in the mobile and kept in charging using the wall charger came with the sony box.
certain doubts i have...
* will i get any led indications while charging or on connecting in flashmode after charging for couple of hours?
* will charger or phone gets heated up due to charging as usually it does ( because i kept it in charging for last 1/2 hour ,after removing and putting back the battery but there is no change in temperature on both device and charger)
* actually yesterday(when got bricked) i firstly removed the battery just for around 5-10 seconds and put it back and no effect on screen nor with connectivity so i kept under charging for the whole night but nothing happened. so i want to ask is pulling off the battery out 1 min or more does matters something?

Have you tried following my advice yet?
Please do that and then give me comments on what the phone does.

yeah im following, in half the way.
phone is on charging for last one hour ill wait a hour more and try the flash mode trick as said by you.

no improvement,
i removed battery from phone and waited for 5 mins and inserted it back. Then kept phone with battery inserted, charged using wall charger for around 2 hours. Then tried going into flashboot by pressing and holding vol down button and inserted the USB cable and after that keep holding vol down button and pressed the power button also but no vibration and no LED.
i again kept phone under wall charge...

ok
it may be a completely flat battery.
charge with a wall charger for 24 hours. Do not touch it all in this time.

But i doubt whether battery is getting charged by phone or not, no heat dissipation. Phone, battery, charger all are at room temperature.
Anyhow im not going to touch it for 24 hours and will see what happens.

device was getting charged for last 12 hours and still under charging without any interruption.
no led and still at room temperature..

Do you use the charger that was given with your phone? Sinds when has this happend? How long do you have the phone? What's the last thing you did with it? This is information we need. Please remind this for in your future posts.

Yes i am using the charger came with my device. It happened exacty 38 hours before.
i own my device from start of this year, i purchased it on new year from singapore.
last thing i did before got bricked was swap partition script in init.d for ram expansion.
i entered wrong partition script.

Code:
if [ -n /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 ];
then mkswap /dev/block/mmcblk1p2;
fi;
if [ -e /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 ];
then echo 60 > /proc/sys/vm/swappiness;
swapon /dev/block/mmcblk1p2;
fi;
this was the script i entered.

no indication of led after 26 hours of charging on wall charger and again i tried to connect the usb as you mentioned in earlier post to go into flashmode. nothing helped.
do you have any idea about using QPST with Xperia V for flashing. I googled and found 'QPST is the only tool available to communicate with this HQSUSB_DLOAD device'.
But any further advice on un bricking is welcomed. Otherwise im in trouble, have to seek sony help from the country where i purchased.

guys im still waiting for your help...

Sorry I have not got back.
Nit sure what to do here as I am away from home.
My only other suggestion week be to uninstall all Sony software from your laptop and try again after reinstalling it again, especially the drivers

Xperia Z Dead??

Hi.
So I deleted gmail apk and put inverted gmail apk in system apps. Powered off the phone. Tried to power it back on, nothing happens.
Battery was almost full, about 95%. If I hold power button (tried for like 30secs) nothing happens. No LED, no vibrate, screen is black non-stop.
I also tried power& VOL-, power& VOL+, power & both volume... Nothing.
If I plug it into USB cable from PC, nothing. If I plug in the mains charger, nothing.
Tried holding VOL- (and later VOL+) and plug in USB cable from PC to get into download mode, nothing. Flashtool doesn't see the device.
What the HELL just happened? And what can I do?

JUST DOWNLOAD THE UPDATE SERVICE FROM SONY , CHOOSE YOUR DEVICE AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTION AND MAYBE IT WILL GET YOUR PHONE WORK .
UPDATE SERVICE LINK
http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/update-service/
Tried Sony Update Service, also PC Companion and flashtool.. The phone appears to be completely dead, like the battery is empty or not even connected. I don't think it's possible that the battery is empty since it had 95% of power when I switched the phone off..
Now that I think about it, it might be possible, that I turned the phone off, didn't wait for it to vibrate and immediately tried to turn it back on.. Does this somehow put the phone in "hard off mode" or something? I mean I'm just guessing here, because I really have no idea what to do :crying:
Hold power button plus volume until u feel 3 vibrates either the phone will come back on or at least u should be able to connect it to the pc opinion.

if your computer does not recognize your phone or vice versa your phone is hard brick (reinstall sony driver just to be sure), no other way to revive it unless you can get into recovery.
I had the same problem this morning. Itwas on charge overnight from the GPO and this morning, Nothing.
I tried two things. One was the update as suggested here (which is happening as I speak) and the other was to hold the button and the lower volume switch. I was doing these concurrently, with it plugged into my laptop and something worked. THANKFULLY.
I only got the phone about three weeks ago and this is the second time something like this has happened. First time it was totally dead and I had it swapped one for one. Worst part was I had spent some time updating my phone list etc which was subsequently lost (making me think I was working on my phone memory not the sim....)
I've just updated my NFC firmware, whatever that is, and it has gone into sleep mode. But at least it's working.
My longwinded explanation preceeds a short question.
Is this a common occurence with the Xperia Z?
My wife has exactly the same model only exception being hers is white, mine black. She has had no probs. Knew I shoulda gone the white one.

you have to wait at least 30 sec until you switch it on .leave the phone on the charger atleast for 3 hours try to uninstall and reinstall sony drivers . and then try to flash a stock rom using a flash tool
OK, the phone has been charging overnight (no led indication, charger was cold, so was the phone, so I doubt it's even been charging) about 10 hours. Reinstalled drivers, PC Companion, Update service and flashtool.
I tried these 4 options with 3 different variables (for 12 total combinations) 30 seconds each.
1) No cables connected
2) Mains charger connected
3) USB cable from PC connected:
hold [PWR] 30 secs
hold [PWR] + [VOL-] 30 secs
hold [PWR] + [VOL+] 30 secs
hold [PWR] + [VOL-] + [VOL+] 30 secs
After that, I also tried connecting the phone to USB cable to PC, each time with only 1 open program. First with flastool, then PC Companion, then Update Service with 3 different variables (for a total of 9 combinations). 30 seconds each:
without pressing/holding any buttons
hold [VOL+] while connecting
hold [VOL-] while connecting
Also tried a different USB port and cable, but it's 100% not the PC/drivers/USB cable.
No matter what I tried, nothing happened. Screen on the phone is dead all the time, LED light is dead, no vibrations, no sounds, nothing. Also when trying the PC connected options, no sounds, indications of drivers installing/failing, no activity in my computer, NOTHING on PC.
Are there any more options to try? Or must I send the phone in for repair?
And once again, does anyone know if turning off the phone and NOT waiting for it to vibrate and immediatelly trying to turn it back ON, somehow causes this "dead phone"?
No more ideas? Am I the first one to have this issue?

Seems like you have tried every known possible way to revive it, I think its time you sent it to Sony to have it fixed... I doubt anyone else can help you from here... Good luck.

I'm afraid to send it because I rooted the phone and my country service centres are known to deny warranty repairs for pretty much any reason they can find.. Sometimes they even make up something.. That's why I was hoping I could somehow fix it.. But yeah, seems there is no way I can do it, so I will have to send it in. Will report what happened.
To be fair, if it wont show on computer or boot up, short of them fixing it then checking, there is no way for them to see it has been rooted?
Xperia Z
That should be correct, but thats exactly what im afraid of. Lets say the battery died for instance. They replace it boot up the phone see its rooted and send me a bill. I hope this wont happen, we shall see..

Pff, you think technicians are gonna bother opening superuser app to check for root?
I sure hope they wont. Phone has been picked up by delivery service today, that means it will arrive in repair centre by friday, and that means they will start looking at it next week maybe wednesday. Then before they figure out whats wrong, order parts and all, about 2-3 weeks and I can report what was wrong.
Got the phone back today. No idea what they did, no detailed description only "reset of program module SL4". Anyways, phone is working, I didn't have to pay anything, so all is good!

[Q] sony xperia z only has the red led light and phone wont turn on

hi, im new here so please be nice with me and bare with me, right my problem is ive just purchased a second hand sony xperia z the phone was working fully with no faults and I usually put and keep on charge over night to last me all day and this time I woke up in the morning and the phone was switched off with no response only a red led light I have tried all methods to fix this issue such as, volume+ and power buttons no response still then I was goin to try upgrade via flashtool or pc companion but for some unknown reason my laptop wont recognise my phone so im really stuck on what to do next its been nowhere near any water either 100%!! my very last option would be to take it into service repair but that could take upto 2 weeks and need my phone for work, ive also been told it could be hard bricked or have been diagnosed with sudden death but cant get into flash mode at all oh and I have also tried the charge the phone for 24 hours trick but still no response at all when this first happened it even took a good few hours for the red led light to come on when charging but now takes around 5 mins
can someone please help I would be very grateful for you time please take your time to read my post as full as possible
thanks in advance, I NEED HELP FAST, FAST, FAST!!!!!!
Download the Sony update tool click update phone it might say you have the latest version ,click restore phone
Aside from what suggested by juDGEY2k10 above (which should work), did you also check if your charger is working properly?
Try charging it with different usb source (...or another Z's charger if you can find one) with stable and reliable output (~ 1,500mA), let it charged for half an hour then see if you can turn on your phone. Please be reminder that the usb ports of some laptops may fail to charge since their power output may not be stable and sufficient enough.
Sounds very much like what happened with my first Nexus 4. Odds are the battery has decided to completely discharge itself to the point where nothing can revive it. How it happened for you, I've no clue, but the only remedy that can work is simply sending it in for replacement/repair, since you've already tried everything else.
i suggest changing another power source or charger. It does look like its out of juice and not able to to power on.
Maybe use your computer USB with the different cables to single out the problem.
do note that the phone needs about 5% battery to power up. So give it some time, maybe 30 mins to 45 mins and try to power it on again.

Hi guys, I got an Xperia Z of one of my friends to try to boot it up, same boat as OP, black screen, red led, not recognized by pc (no fastboot, no adb shell, no FlashTool).
I tryed to charge also with my Motorola USB cable, no way.
Can we only send back to official assistance?
Try to dissconnect the batery then reconnect it, put it on charge and after a few minutes try to turn it on.
I hope it helps.
One thing to check: does the led come on when plugged in, then disappear when unplugged? If so its probably that the battery isnt charging. If the led stays on (red or other color) for some time after unplugging than it may be something else, the phone is holding power but not booting.
Youve tried hard resetting /shutting down I presume?
This is why I hate phones with sealed batteries, it was almost a dealbreaker in buying this but i gave it a go.
If its the battery and you dont have warranty or insurance (or its too expensive) you can replace it yourself with a little time and research.
I have the same issue, it's because the battery isn't able to hold a charge. This happened to me the day after the recent 4.2 update, I have yet to figure out how to get a warranty replacement as there are no sony stores where I live. However, it turned on briefly when I pressed the volume up and power button together. I saw that the battery was at 1%, I put it on standby to conserve battery but it just won't take a charge.
Same issue here with a family members phone, they want to give it to a friend but can't yet because it isn't working.
They got a new phone and left the Z just sitting on a desk. It eventually discharged but now they can't get it going.
I'm trying to fix it for them.
Red LED, no boot, connect to charger and just get a solid red LED. See how it goes I guess. Can't get it to show up when connecting to PC at this stage. Will try with the official Sony tool though.

HI,any update???
I have the same issue too...
I read.somewhere in other thread that putting in the usb then press the volume and volume up for 8 swcond, wait for an hour then try restarting.would work.
This had happen to me twice already, and the only remedy seems sending it to sony. Where they would charge it. But it took weeks though.

Dead xperia T

Well my GF had a lot of trouble with this phone, we replaced the battery 3 times due to them failing. Anyway I updated it to official 4.3 for her and left it totally stock, no root or anything. All was well for a few days. One night we left it charging, when we woke up it was still pretty dead. She used it for about 5 mins then it died, now it won't charge or switch on! Got it charging offline but still didn't take any juice. Flashed in flashmode several times, now if I connect to anything it goes straight into flashmode and still won't charge! I bought her a galaxy s2 for now but is there anything we can do? Is it possible it needs yet another new battery?
Just to add I tried all the fixes such as leave it on charge, remove battery, button combo etc. When it does "charge" it doesn't take any charge
Sent while my supervisor wasn't looking
Try replacing the battery again and if this happens again it is definitely a hardware problem

I don't want to start a new thread, so I will post it here. My Xperia T is a dead phone in the moment and I was searching the web and of course xda to find a fix (like for Xperia Z).
How it happened: Yesterday my phone was working like a charm with CM11. I wanted to sell it and so I was trying to flash a stock rom. The flashing aborted with error every single time (Processing system.sin). I was able to flash all the .sin except for system.sin
After the phone was a soft brick I could enter fastboot/flashmode and flash the kernel from CM11 and install it without any problems.
I tried several times to flash stock until my phone bricked. Now it is charging and nothing happens, no fastboot, no flashmode, no sign of life. Only when the battery is detached the LED flashes one time (red) when cable is connected
Edit: The phone was able to go in flashmode but after few seconds it disconnected, in reconnected in flashmode. Also the phone is now recognized by the computer as "qhsusb-dload"
Edit Update: When I connect the phone to the computer an press Vol+ and Power Button for a longer time, the LED turn on (red color) and the qhsusb-dload disappears from device manager. After 2-3 seconds the LED turns of and the device manager shows qhsusb-dload again.
Now I have connected the phone to wall charger with a rubber band on the power button and sometimes the red LED turns on and stays for a few seconds

[Q] My Xperia SP bricked, wont start

Hey guys,
I need your help!
My Sony Xperia SP (C5303) wont start. It crashed while I was using it. Display faded and afterwards I am not able to turn it on.
I searched a lot but havent found anything useful to my problem. I found these articles(well more, but those are the most comprehensive ones):
Article 1 on xda
Article 2 on sonymobile
I tried everything what was mentioned in those articles. Nothing helped. Honestly I am a bit rusty with toying with my phone. I have been in to it on collage, but last few years I settled with what I installed back then ( eXistenz Ultra 3.0.0 I guess or similar version)
When I am trying to charge it red light is on. After a while (15 mins or so) red light disappear. When the phone is at least a bit charged and I try to turn it on it flashes red three times (not every time).
When I plug it in the computer while having Flashtool open it goes like this:
22/055/2015 13:55:27 - INFO - Device connected with USB debugging off
22/055/2015 13:55:27 - INFO - For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode
22/055/2015 13:55:28 - INFO - Device disconnected
22/055/2015 13:55:32 - INFO - Selected null
22/055/2015 13:55:32 - INFO - Flash canceled
I guess that is all I know now about the problem.
Please help
PS: I tried the turn off button in the back ( even holding it for like a minute )
From the above info i can only make out that your device is unable to connect to flashtool. Use USB cable of good quality.
You also try reinstalling flashtool

I installed Flashtool v 0.9.18.5, used three different USB cables (including sony original) still the same log. I do not think problem is in this
Can I offer some more specific information? Honestly I do not how else describe my fatal problem
Seems that your battery is completely discharged or you have drivers problem
Here you are step by step:
1- Connect your phone to wall socket and let it charge for 1 or 2 hours
2- After that force shutdown by pressing back reset button till vibrate three times.. Do not turn on the phone
3- Uninstall flashtool and any xperia flashing tools or drivers
4- Download and install PC companion from here:
http://www-support-downloads.sonymo...nloads/PC Companion/Sony PC Companion_Web.exe
5- Open PC Companion program and connect your phone to PC via USB cable while pressing your phone Volume down key
(You should hear windows new hardware plugged sound and your phone led will light with green)
6- follow PCC wizard to repair your phone
Hey, thanks for advice, OsGhaly.
Sadly I already did this - charged my phone from wall socket - pressed the back reset button (hold it) - nothing..no vibrations, nothing
Update: I have this problem for 2 weeks ( using another phone meanwhile), now I tried just for sake to charge it again (I tried everything 14 days ago ) after like 30 minutes it actually kinda turned on - it booted into the screen with charging battery. I was like whooah So I tried to turn it on. During loading graphics got messy again and screen blurred off. An everything is as it was. Broken.
Seems to me it somehow restarted over that 14 days (battery drained ?) and thanks to the fact that battery was depleted it kinda turned on. I guess it was a mistake to try turn it on immediately. I should have tried to reinstall the phone in that battery charging screen I guess. ¨So maybe I should just wait few days to let the battery drain again a try this ? Do not know :-/
But again what u have described I tried 14 days ago, did not work sadly.

Why u want to wait? U can simple press and hold the reset button for 8 sec or so till it makes 3 vibrations consecutively. After that charge your phone for 1h and then without booting it flash stock ftf via flashtool

I am not actually sure which kernel it is, since in the info it says something else than in installation guide. So please check for yourself because I could give you a wrong information
Still no progress. Please help

eXistenZ uses stock kernel. I think you should try flashing your SP through some other PC.
Either your battery is damaged or USB socket problem
Nope, using another pc did not help. So I am still stuck with bricked phone. I would like to quote the article I linked in the first post because it exactly describes my problem. But in that article wasnt found a helpful solution either.
"...When I charge it, the red light on the bottom just comes and goes. Stays on for a few minutes, then goes off for a few minutes. I let it charge for almost 6 hours like this and nothing has happened. When I plug the phone into my PC you hear the USB connected sound, but right after you hear the disconnected sound, and nothing shows up in device manager. I tried the Vol+ and Power button combo and nothing happens. I tried holding the reset button on the back for 5-10 seconds and nothing happens. I get no vibrations at all. The phone is not detected in any program like SUS, Flashtool, or PC companion. Some times when I press the power button I get 2 red short flashes, I have no idea what this means as it's not consistent, and only happens every once in a while.... "
I have my phone in warranty but my display is cracked a bit and I not original software is installed on the device so I am not sure if warranty wasnt voided by those things. Please help.

Since u have not unlocked your bootloader you are still in warranty. Now only service center can repair ur phone. Dont tell them u have installed a custom rom or rooted ur device if u want to claim warranty.

Will only boot to fastboot mode

Hi everyone. my z3 compact got wet... waterproof phone supposedly but it soon turned itself off. i've had it in rice for a while but it wont boot up. I've used the yellow reset button and it vibrates 3 times and does nothing. when I plug it into the computer tho I am able to get fastboot mode. I'd rather not have to send it back to Sony as I am without a phone. anyone have any idea how I can get it to boot normally. I'm presuming as it goes into fastboot mode the hardware isn't bricked? thanks for any advice you can give me.
Did you already tried to flash full stock TFT via FalshTool (and Phone in FlashMode)?
I'm currently waiting for a password for the flashtool..... I tried running repair phone on sony pc companion and the pc seemed happy but the phone still wont start. 3 vibrations when I try. currently the phone is plugged into the wall hoping it will charge. it is showing the red battery icon that flashes. I suppose the first hurdle is to get the thing to charge altho last night before I tried the repair phone option when plugged into charger it did say 100% charged.

Waiting for a password for the flashtool? It's free and shouldn't need any passwords, unless you mean password from Sony for unlocking your bootloader? I hope not.
Three vibrations means turning the phone off. Two vibrations is on.
Try the power button while plugged into a PC to see if any USB functions start when the phone boots up. If the phone can be seen in your PC but nothing on the phone, then the screen is duff.
I think the next stop is Sony repair centre, or if it's out of warranty, $80 on a genuine screen on ebay, a guitar pick and a hair dryer.
thanks guys. ok i've done some googling. seems I have been looking at the wrong flashtool. I was looking at one called Emma..... the official sony one. I'm now presuming I should be using the one at flashtool.net? I'll have to download that at home later. works pc has all sorts of blocking things on it. the screen was working yesterday as I could see the fastboot screen but that was all I could get. Am I right in saying the led ligghts blue when it goes into flash mode?

Good news, if the screen comes on and it goes into flashmode then it should be possible to rescue it.
I'm still puzzled as to why the partitions/system would be corrupted from water damage, unless it's something to do with the motherboard itself.
I have had the phone plugged into the original wall charger for a while now. the screen goes from blank to the battery charging icon every 3 or 4 seconds. The battery is red showing low charge and doesn't seem to be going up at all. If the water indicator shows red (which it does) will this void my warranty with Sony? I'm going to leave it on charge here all afternoon at work til I go home. That will have given it about 5 hours on charge so if the battery isn't improving by then it isn't looking good is it..... I've managed to get flashtool on the pc here and it has detected a device in fastboot mode. Don't know if this is a good sign or not as without the battery charging it's useless
Just get an full stock FW (TFT-File) and put it in the correct folder for FlashTool.
Then flash the full tft rom - HowTo here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-stock-roms-t2240614
To get into Flashmode (not Fastboot Mode) push Vol Down (hold it) and then plug in USB (while phone is off!)
But do this first if the Flashtool program ask you to do so...

You are right to be worried about trying to flash the device with a low battery. If power fails during the flash it really will become a brick.
Don't try a flash unless you have at least 7% battery.
Thanks for all your help. Battery won't charge at all so it looks like the only option is a repair shop..... Like you say it really isn't worth risking bricking it.
