[Q] Pure un-rooted stock system image - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anybody have or know where I can get a pure stock KF HD 7 stock image that I can flash through fastboot. Just want something to be able to go back to pure unmodified stock. Thanks.

I have previously seen your post. But I was a bit confused since you post a 7.2.3 boot file. Isn't that different than a system image file. I'm not a total noob but still trying to figure things out on KF. If infact that is the full OS then I assume after flashing it will give me OTA to 7.3.1 again. Thanks for your help.

No, that file is the 7.2.3 OS itself. Or just go to the system restore tool thread.

I found that flashing Mexican Retail removes the bootlader warning and never returned once flashing any ROM thereafter. Stock included
the problem is that I dont have a PC for me to do this my friend.
I think I have an image on my phone that I saved there and I think I like a lot for that boot image to be.
If someone can make me one with my image if is NOT too much to ask that will be great so I can flash it through CWM

Nevermind this post...read yours wrong and thought you wanted the MR logo for CWM....did the dd instructions, but still....
download this post's attachment with your phone
rename logo.bin.zip to logo.bin
open Android Terminal Emulator and do the following commands
Code:
su
dd if=/sdcard/Download/logo.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk1p29
I think the default location for Downloads is /sdcard/Downloads, change the if=/sdcard/Download part of the command if it isn't.
This requires root, unlocked bootloader, and busybox being installed...not sure if stock has the dd command by default or not...hence the busybox recommendation. Plenty of busybox installers in the market.

Thanks this did it for me.
One question to skeevy though about this subject.
I was wondering if anyone have tried to mess with the files. It should be a command file some where at the system that write the permissions or something to load the boot image.
Do you know what will be this file so we can try to make changes to it as resolution (Image size) ?
Reason I ask is because maybe we can change the image size like from 540x540 to 540x960 or something like that

If you get a factory cable and follow the instructions in Hashcode's 2nd bootloader thread, verbatim, you will not have any problems whatsoever. I have several friends and family members with KFHD7s that have asked me to "work my magic", and in every instance, I have always used that thread as a reference and I have never run to any problems as a result.
Thank you! By factory cable you mean one of those fast boot cables right? And just to make sure you mean this thread right? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128848

Yes, and yes. Good luck.
Do not forget: put a custom ROM on your SD Card before you go through with flashing TWRP, you cannot boot into stock ROM, you will loop into TWRP. Be ready to flash a custom ROM when you get into TWRP.

Technically, you can drop it where you want outside of the system folder. Dropping it into the storage as a whole (not a folder) makes it easier to find. To find the rom, you'll just scroll strait down to it while in TWRP.
Got it done guys works and looks great ! Thank you for all your help! !

You have not mentioned any specifics, such as Windows or Linux? Fastboot or moto-fastboot? Current device drivers? Does the flash fail? What does the error say? Kindle Fire HD 7" D025A Version - Return to Stock

Hey guys. I have a Kindle Fire HD 7 D025A (1st gen I think? 2012 release) that was rooted a long time ago and had the Cyanogen os put on it. Its become very unstable (reboots a lot, launchers crash, etc) and I would like to restore it back to the way it came from Amazon. The unfortunate part is, I am a total newb at this, and I wasnt the one who rooted it originally so I have no idea how it was done. Can anyone give me a step by step guide on the correct way to restore back to the original? Been trolling websites all morning, but with as many different releases of kindle as there are out in the world, I want to make sure its done right.
Thanks in advance.

Bleh, that was annoying. So finally got the stock zip to work. Had to wipe twice in order for it to boot into something not TWRP. Thank you very much btw and sorry if I seemed a little short. Im a computer guy by trade for over 20 years, but this programming and hacking stuff has never been my cup of tea. Finally into the basic default setup pattern now.
Ok, so now that Ive been shown and taught how to return this Kindle to stock, can you show me a list of all the custom OS's I can put on it? I know Lineage doesnt support it, and I know Cyanogenmode has a version 14, but I want something that will continue getting updates.
