Strange you should mention that, I'm (trying) to port Sense to Xperia Z.
I don't think it will work.
Maybe some other member could do it?
I'm too busy.
I have seen this sort of thing many times. The usual result of porting sense is a partially broken really buggy ROM worth nobody's time. Not saying its impossible, but its a ridiculous amount of work especially if you want it to be stable. Best way I guess is to port it from a HTC device with similar hardware, then at least half the battle is won

I think Xperia'Keyboard is better than Htc'keyboard :highfive:
So many have tried and failed. Not being negative but you might as well write a modded android version from root

I don't know anything about porting or making ROMs but I would love to see a port of sense 5

About time! In the nexus 7 forums someone made a touchwiz rom and I asked about sense and was told it's impossible. Given the similarities in the htc one x, and htc one architecture vs our chipset I don't think it's impossible, not at all. I'd love to help if I knew how to develop, but best of luck to ya!

Count me in for testing and applications, but as for coding, I'm a lost cause, even with a masters in tech. I can show someone how to USE or APPLY a product in the field once its created, but creation, I'll leave it to the pros! If there is anything I can do on the application/UI/FAQ/Help side that doesn't require coding, let me know.
I can definitely do any testing you need

The issue has nothing to do with chipsets or hardware. It is all software. Sense requires HTC frameworks and drivers to work. Many have tried and in the end things like data, wi-fi, GPS and things like that dont work. Trust me many high level devs have tried it and all have failed.

I get that but it's not impossible. Usually if you can find a device with the same chipset, it can be done. Devs in the HTC Flyer forum got ics with sense 4.0 ported because of the HTC One V having the same chipset. For us, DROID DNA would be the best place to start.

They were both HTC devices. The first nexus from HTC got a sense port as well.
Does htc modify their hardware in some way? You'd think underneath it all they would be identical to everything else. Forgive me I'm not a developer.

It is mostly a driver issue. The drivers are only made to work with HTC hardware. While the base hardware is the same things like the radio antenna, wifi, antenna, and things like this are different depending on the device. They are also programed very differently depending on the OEM. Without any of the Sense drivers for the OS those things dont work. This is how OEM keep their version of Android on their devices alone.
It shouldn't be really hard, target device is HTC Butterfly because has a 4.2.2 Sense ROM.I'll try 2morrow.

Tried to port sense this way some days before I saw this.
I was pretty sure it would fail, but I gave it a try.
The only thing I reached was a bootloop
Is sense 5 in the future of HTC incredible s?
I mean the HTC butterfly just got it officially
So does this mean it can be easily ported in the future to our device ? And if so when will it possible ?
I am a little newbie when it comes to developing Roms and porting

Adding to that HTC one s got a beta Rom of sense 5 too thanks to xda community of course (great developers everywhere)
So what we are waiting for is the ion kernel which I think is almost done working and what next?
Please advice

Yes its true that we still need a kernel for Jellybean Sense. We can hope for it this month (or the next).
However, all the devices that have received Sense 5 beta or what not are all the 1080p devices so for a team of HTC developers, it might not be too difficult to just port it over since there (shouldn't) be any re-sizing to do. For our device, its possible although I can't imagine what single person would spend the time re-sizing all the HTC apps and what not.
Sense 4+ would be significantly more realistic because there are devices with Sense 4+ that have the same resolution as our phone, so (I'm not a developer so don't take my word for granted) I'd assume that it would be just exchanging libs, correcting frameworks here and there, make modifications to make it run smoother and better etc.

Hi! I have strange problem over here Sony Update Service downgraded my Xperia V software from JB 4.3 (9.2.A.0.295) to 4.1.2 (9.1.A.1.140)... I checked SUS hoping that my Xperia V will get JB 4.3 (9.2.A.1.199) and SUS said that new software is available, i upgraded and BAM! Now i have JB 4.1.2 (9.1.A.1.140)... Anyone got this problem? Or i'm just so unlucky..

Truth is it is not ready for prime time.
Absolutely not my intention to offend anyone, but how the people can accept this piece of faulty software is astonishing for me.

I think it depends entirely on how people use their phones. I, for one, don't see any serious bugs, not to mention all the bloatware that comes with it, and can actually get 2 days of battery life on one charge. Actually, I can't think of any bug aside from the visual problem when installing apps.

There is one really annoying bug that occasionally prevents the display from turning on...

I love Sony since my p900i. Joined xda in the x10 days and moved to,arc s, xperia s, xperia t, xperia z and now z1.
Really love Sony the only problem is I'm curious about Ubuntu touch.
Is anybody else here interested, or am I the only with xz1? And developers maybe?
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
EDIT
sorry you do have a Z1.
Please post in the correct section,(I have already asked the mods to move it)
i would love to see ubuntu working on my z1. But only if it works flawless. if it's a beta or something, then i lose all interest
I'm rather interested too, I am going off Sony's attempt at Android skinning, since the update to 4.4 I'm not liking it.

Really? I find it quite good looking, specially compared to the other three big android manufacturers(Samsung, HTC, LG)
It could use some polish though and more animations

Though HTC is not bad
Samsung And LG are the ones that truly butchered it, touchwiz and optimus UI, those ugly mother******s really need a serious update
