Hello forum I really have this problem since I install the firmware v20A. Basicly is when I use the phone for small games the phone start to heat like crazy and the drain battery is super fast I'm using tegra overclock to control the speed of the gpu using two cores and gpu 200mhz... Then when I use it for heavy game like batman I put the 4 cores and gpu in 330 the battery drain to 10% in 20min
how I can control that I have to say I'm heavy user but not as much as my phone long 5 hours when I don't use it much what can I do I'll appreciate ur help

All 4x users are suffering from this problem
But don't worry heating is normal for tegra3,every tegra3 devices are heating and drains battery because it's 1.5ghz quad core
More cores more power and also more battery consumption

But is it normal that the battery drain is in about 4 normal use 6 hours sleep mode and 30min gaming mode

Before I installed cyanogenmod. I rooted my device and removed bloatware. With screen off time, my device could last for days without charging. With screen on time, the device could last around 4-5 hours depending on display brightness and Wlan.
So, if your device lasts around 4-5 hours, then it is pretty much standard.
Yes, the device heats alot during usage. I suggest using 70-80 % brightness at max while using it. I dont play games, so I dont know what to suggest during gaming.
Dont put your phone into a pocket when its hot, you might break the display.
Well it seems the only solution is to use a 4800amp battery that seems to work better even when is thicker

Battery temp I mean..sorry for the misleading title....
~45..
Mine too
45

Same here..around 45-47 highest temp..
I get around 45 too
I don't play games much, but after a while on ¿where's my water? I've got 39'2 degrees.
Edit: 40º after playing Real Racing 3. Stock speeds and voltages.
50°C, while experimenting with thermal throttling. CPU was about 80°C. It's hard to read CPU temperature, because I haven't found any app for that. All temperatures are accessible in /sys folder. TempMonitor is not reading CPU, but somewhere near on the board.
Is it anyone that can share and care with me some kind of modifying / tweaks that shuts down how many CPU cores that is active at the same moment? My problem is that battery life is suffering thanks to the CPU is working at an high level even when using simple tasks like browsing the web thru the built in web browser.
Help me please..

Download system tuner or get this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teamkang.fauxclock
And then just look at your cores. 97% of the time there is just 1 core working (on my phone).
Faux's app is about the same as CPU Spy, but Faux123 Kernel Enhancement Pro can also tell/show you the amount of time that all 4 cores were being used. Which is really barely never. If it's different in your case then you could do some tweaks, but I really doubt that it will be different then my phone. In the end it also depends what you use your phone for of course.

If 1 one core is used - why is my battery draining like crazy? I am greenifying every known battery eating app that is installed on my phone but even then, I got bad battery life on my Xperia Z it is two days old though..

Yeah well... if anything... The least you should worry about are you cores.
Have you installed BBS/CPU Spy to see if your phone is going into sleep mode correctly?

My phone enter Deep sleep pretty quickly so it is nothing wrong with Deep sleep and sleep mode.
Maybe undervolting of stock kernel frequencies can help me with the fast battery drainage? I mean, my battery life is good but undervolting can make it better?
Turn off gps, google now, every vibration and unnecesary keyboard, dial sound.
The battery life will be better.

I guess UV helps to improve the battery life, but I don't know how much. The great thing of UV is that the phone also doesn't become too hot.

Hey don't forget to let your phone settle down 2 days isn't enough. It needs around one week

brightness is what taking the battery, I dont know what phone u came from but battery is pretty much a disappointment on this phone. I came from an S3 with a 7000mah battery, so yea it sucks.
Hello guys
Few weeks ago, I've noticed that my phone has a huge battery drain, dunno why, I've tried almost everything (I was checking wakelocks as well).
Biggest battery drain was happening while I was using my phone, not at sleep, so I thought that the problem is in my battery (1 year old, samsung original). So I bought a new battery (unofficial, 1900mAh).
With new battery it's not better at all. My battery drains in ten hours of using (5% drop every half an hour). Is that normal or bad? (Don't forget that i'm using battery with more capacity now)
Thanks for understanding and answering
for a new 1900mAh battery that's bad news, did you recalibrate new battery?
No, I didn't.. Thx for the advice. I'm also posting BetterBatteryStats log:
https://copy.com/D3S89
(Hope the URL works )
ok i'm no expect but reading the BetterBatteryStats log I can see the CPU frequency was at 1400 GHz for nearly 2 hours, maybe thats what's killing the battery... try lowering the CPU frequently to about 800 GHz
Hahah ok
Odesláno z mého GT-I9000 pomocí Tapatalk 4
OK so I'm still having 1400 MHz but with conservative governor. I've been using intellidemand till now (GearKernel has every governor you can even think of). I hope my battery gets better (not yet calibrated). thanks
If there will be still some problems I'll tell you
Odesláno z mého GT-I9000 pomocí Tapatalk 4
ok... yeah calibrate battery and see if that helps too, just boot into CWM recovery and select "wipe battery stats" but make sure battery has full charge before you wipe.
In your battery stats logfile one can see that there was 98% unknown or no signal. Why's hat? If your phone is searching for net all the time this would be a big battery killer

First check what apps are draining your battery, maybe there might be any unsual battery draining, also install wakelock detector to see what apps are constantly waking up the device. TBH there is not much you can do about the battery life, but still there are a few methods, what I always recommend is using Kernel Adiutor to lower the maximum Cpu frequency.

Thanks, mate. The first thing that consumes my battery is the screen. I have it on low brightness.

1) maybe phone getting old and battery doesn't hold as much charge
2) watching videos with loud speakers, mobile internet, high brightness drain the most battery. It's normal
check the battery drain if it's idle, say have a 8 hour sleep with WiFi on without charging, shouldn't drain more than 10%
use TWRP or CWM to flash recovery, usually it's an .img file if i remember correct, also can be done with ADB from computer
EDIT : flash only the kernel.sin using flashtool
imho, the stock 5.1.1 rom is the worst battery life among all Z stock roms. you can do whatever you think could save battery but it's only do a small improvement, unless if you not using too much app that run in background like messenger app or social media app. this rom will also heat up quickly when you use an app continuously, even just for browsing. there are also a bug in this rom called mobile radio active bug, wich make battery life even worse.
but, this is the best performance rom for me, most polished one. I didn't have any slow operation like JB, or lag if you receive a lot of notifications like KK. and one thing that make me impressed is the camera performance. there is no lag when you open the camera setting unlike other stock roms.
All I do for the battery is using stamina mode all the time, including extended stanby, extended usage and stamina clock on, and put 1 or 2 mostly used messenger app in white list. It help saves battery when screen is off. well, I'm not a heavy user after all.

huh, did I tell you before there are no best stock rom?
It's depend on what you need
you need battery life? then 4.3 JB is your answer, but sacrifice high performance

Having a difficult time to survive the day with b391, battery drains on deep sleep so, what is your best performer ROM on battery life?.
Or what rom doesn't have battery drain when the phone is in deep sleep? (B391 lost between 2-3% per hour which is HUGE.
Actually im testing b360 LATAM, will post the results later if anyone is interested.

2-3%/hr is not huge, I'm on 30% battery left with a running time of 30 hours; ~2.3%/hr.

I agree, that is a lot - I only lose 1-2% overnight when the phone is suspended (in Ultra battery mode).
When you go into Battery Manager > Consumption level, which apps are using the most under the 'All' & 'Background' tabs?
With all apps closed, I've 21 apps under 'All' & only 1 app under 'Background' (WhatsApp). The top 5 in the 'All' list are as follows. How does this compare to yours?
Google Services (13.45%)
Google App (11.77%)
Android System (5.12%)
Android OS (3.43%)
System UI (3.06%).

30hrs remaining with only 30% battery is amazing (or, it's reporting wrong figures?).
I'm getting 'only' 36hrs remaining with 98% battery.
2-3 %/hr is awesome in my opinion..
I've been using fRomFuture - Home for a while. The battery life is sooo bad but I just haven't changed rom yet.
Say I wake up at 7:30 am, check reddit for 5 minutes. Then go on and shower with maybe 2-3 songs playing on spotify. Also maybe 1 phone call and answering a text. Then I'm down at 80-85% by the time it's ~8:15-8:30.
My phone usually has ~10% battery left when I get home at ~ 3pm the same day. I don't even use it much when I'm at uni.
I really miss the doze feature, apps closing when screen off is such a bummer, makes phone ankward to use.
On my humble idol 3 i lost like 3% overnight, with all apps and sync working on the background.

If you don't find out what's draining your battery you can't fix it.
I come from a Moto G 1st gen (XT1032) and I couldn't agree more. I can't use the P8 (ALE-L23) in the same way that my now deceased Moto. Google My Tracks drain the battery quickly, Google Fit? No way José! Even Whatsapp trigger the alert for power hungry apps.
I don't recommend the P8 to anyone interested in use his phone like a tracking/navigation system. The GPS is also bad.
The gps is one of the most precise, with 3 satellite constelations and more precise than Samsung Note 3 and any Lumia phone for example. I use it for map data collect in some cases ( i work in the same business) and it didnt consume too much compared with an older Note 3 and a Lumia 925...

Not at all.
I use the Greenify app for the "aggressive doze" and "doze on the go" functions. No problem what so ever with battery drain on idle, I'm currently still on B391.
Doze on the go really helps if you carry your phone in your pocket all day like me. I'm getting 4 1/2 hours screen on time browsing, you tube, lots of SMS etc.
