How to calibrate battery..?
I found application "Battery calibration" and it says:
Calibration needs to be done after flashing a new ROM, but you can calibrate any time you think your battery is miscalibrated. This program does it by removing the batterystats.bin system file. The OS generates a new clean batterystats file soon, thus any fake information from the previous ROM is removed.
It's suggested, but not necessary, to let the phone fully discharge after calibration, then charged to 100% without break.

But I didn't see any changes.. My battery stays around 13 hours...
After using "Battery calibration"and 2 times full battery charge, 72% yet (stock 2.3.3 KPE)
what was your usage?? i mean how much gaming, wifi, internet etc

Your display only eats 4% of your usage, i can say that your phone was mostly on standby when you posted this.

Yes only a few calls, and sms, but synchronization is on (2G only). Average battery life ~ 16h( 2.3.3 KPE), but better than villainrom 1.0 (max 7-8 h)
how is possible that after 19 hours you have still 75% of battery. you dont use the phone, is only in standby? the fully charges were with how many hours?
I have installed Battery Calibration as said, but its asking to root the device. What is root? Sorry for being noob. I am new Android phones.
Ace's battery won't stand for a day with moderate use. It's battery drains faster than any of my previous android phone. Before ace I've used Sony Ericsson x8 and Galaxy mini, both's battery can stand for 1,5-2 days. I usually put my phone to airplane mode during my sleep time from 11 PM to 6 AM and on galaxy mini's battery drains only 0-1% in the morning, but on ace the battery drains 7-12 %, it's horrible.

Sounds like you havent mastered the way of saving battery on a SGA yet. With some thrid party apps you'll be able to make it through the day without any problem.

Juice Defender, Set CPU, Auto Memory man., Autostarts and Tweaks for instance.
Use quick setting to access and switch/change the brightness, mobile data, wifi.
Check the apps that uses unnecessary CPU with watchdog, you can uninstall watchdog when ure done your evaluation.
Don't use apps such as Advance task killer(if you dont know what ure doing), it might give you even worse battery time. Many background apps doesnt use any CPU at all, they only take up RAM.

The only one I recommended from the installed apps was juice defender, and you didnt even combine my recommended apps. Try that before posting this issue.
mine stands for 2 or 2,5 days with Glsmt 1.3 rom, and wifi is always on. tried juice defender must say is the best friend of any android phone.
Hi to everyone on this thread. How long have you had your Ace & have you given it a chance to "settle in"?? I easily get 2 days+ with average use ie/ wifi/games/calls/surfing. The battery needs time to calibrate itself, no apps necessary. Takes a few weeks. At this moment I'm on 2d 15h 17m 45s with 27% left! Phone is left on all day/night & I disable wifi/3G/syncing when not required. My % stays the same overnight, no drop. Hope this helps. GrahamF. London
Hmm, cant see any changes after calibrating...

That sounds quiet unbelieveable. What Firmware are you using?
Though: Turning 3G off all the time means that you also dont have background synchronisation, right?! That would surely save some juice, I guess.
You can still sync with 2G, it'll just be slower than with 3G and saves battery, but since he mentioned turning off 3G and Sync in one go, I guess he disabled both.
During holidays I switched off 3g and sync off due to avoiding data roaming abroad and had still 20% left after 2 days with one charge.
Used it during that time for occasional SMS, gaming and taking pictures, and scanning for free Wifi hotspots.
Tap-a-talked from my Galaxy Ace
Hi Deathmetal X, I'm using the stock out of the box Froyo 2.2.1 on 02-UK. No mods, just use the inbuilt task manager to close what I'm not using & turn 3G/wifi on & off as I need it. I don't need background syncing & I just collect my e-mails (3 accounts) & Facebook, Twitter etc...on a regular basis. I don't have loads of widgets wasting battery either, just F1 & weather. I use it a lot on wifi + games & calls/texts. Today I'm on 3 days with about 17% left. Biggest drain on battery is the 3G, trying to connect & re-connect all the time! None of this restricts my use/enjoyment of this great phone & well worth having it in my hand & not plugged into the wall! Graham. London.
Nice app_ I use CM7 before the battery is drain_ after I calibrate the battery I think my battery life increased. good_
after flashed JB ROM, I rooted my Xperia TX with bin4ry v.26 tool ( and installed SU ) and installed CWM v6. Then i test my battery with checked option in Battery extend option. After one hour, battery of my phone lost 18% . Grrr.. i tested again in 1 hour and i had same result. Anyone here have same issue with me and why it drained like crazy.
Sorry for my bad english
After testing with many setting, i see Battery extended stanby mode is my issue. When i turn off, battery drained as usually. Any one know how to fix ?
How many apps are running in background? What data connections do you use and how much data traffic have you got? How much display-on time do you have? How bright is your display?
On my V, the display is the one unit that sucks most of the juice. So I try to keep display brightness as low as possible (so I can still read it depending on ambient light), to keep my data off when I don't need it, and to keep unwanted or unused apps from running in the background.
But granted, the 1750 mAh batteries they put into these things are a joke.

Hm. If it still drains 18% in 1 hr, that's crazy. No idea what's happening there.
my Xperia TX drains faster in Jellybean too compare to when im using ICS
I flash back to ICS. My battery 1% can stand for 3hours if you didn't used the phone.

Mmm.. Not i don't want to use JB, cause battery really drain too fast although everything shows improvement in JB for TX update but not the battery..
Me too, JB just drains battery crazy. It's the Google Now/Gmap thing. But it doesn't drain as much in WiFi.
Hello guys, sorry for my bad english, but I'm not American. Well, my question is:
I bought from a guy a Galaxy S I900b, Brazilian model with digital TV. Came with stock 2.3. As I had already read enough before, upgraded to JWB Saurom with semaphore kernel, which I think is the default for this rom. Well, the phone had very poor battery life, evn on idle. Then upgraded to 10.2 CM. I saw that had some wakelocks, and with BBS and the help here, I used the Scan Media Root and my problems are gone in iddle. So, my phone goes into deep sleep and today during my sleep, only lost 3% battery, 3% battery drain on idle during about 5-6 hours it very good to me. But during use, it ends up very fast, and with GSAM and standard monitor of the android, I saw that after the screen, the Android system was what had higher %% battery. So what could it be ? The battery life is ok, checked on info, and its condition is 'good'. I use to Greenify, and close almost every game\app, so running is just grenify and ram manager pro.
So the prob just could be a app or the 'android system' ? Or even hardware ?
I dont have much time now, so any info or screenshot you want, I can provide later
Thanks
What about your connections? Do you have 3G/wifi enabled at all times?
calibrate....maybe useless, but u can try....but somehow, try bigger mAh battery, maybe.....n maybe .... it will help.
juz charge it with screen turn on till it full, n waste it to 0% till it shut down, turn it on n charge it with screen on till it full again, u ll be fine
if problem occur again, keep an eye for sneaky app that run at background (email...exchange etc) n juz delete some sys app that u dont use using titanium.
if it still occur again, wait for arc reactor battery....

I've deleted the batterystats.bin and used until 0%, so charged while off, but nothing :C
It's true that the battery needs to 'learn' ? Like, a few charges and discharges and could estabilize ?
I'll take a few screenshots right now
Callibration of you battery eg: Wipe battery stats is onluy helpfull when you get weird battery stats.
If you are on any CyanogenMod ROM you have to get used to the higher ammount of battery use by the phone. The application Greenify can help a lot by hibernating the huge battery suckers like facebook and google maps.
Some tips:
- use 2G instead of 3G
- Turn WIFI off when you're outside the house or leaving for some time
- Turn GPS/Bluetooth on only when you're about to use it
- Dont use taskkillers (they are used to free up ram but killing apps makes android restarts them and this consumes extra juice)
- Put brightness on Auto
- Use a dark theme and background/lockscreenwallpaper
- Dont recharge your phone when below 5% this can damage the battery
- A new battery needs to "Get used to" the life of being a battery xD After a few recharging cycles it will work like normal
Here some screenshots, if need more, just ask
Note: Was with 14%batt, rebooted and drops to 11-10%

Remember that this is just on use, on idle it use virtually nothing, like I said, almost 3% on sleep, but is just I start use with app or browser and its gone

It looks like wifi and 3G have been kept on for most/all of the time. Turning those off while you're not using them may significantly increase battery life.
Also, related to kernels, personally I've found Mackay to be a bit better in terms of battery.
Also it looks like your screen's pretty bright if 61% of the battery usage is because of it. So if you don't need it so bright turning the brightness down may help.
Start by doing those, and see how your battery life fares first- if not much changes, then it may help getting a bettery battery/changing rom even.

So, like i said, in this 2 hours after charge, i've used opera mini with wifi, I dont use 3g. Right now the battery is less than 10%... it's strange since have people telling that can use almost 5 hours wifi and the battery is > 50%
And the brightness is at lowest bright :\
The problem could be some corrupted file ? I have the options:
- format EVERYTHING, and dont use titanium backup, since somthing can be corrupted.
- change my kernel to Mackay
- change my room back to SAUROM 2.3.6 adn semaphore kernel
I'm very sad cuz I have a very old Nokia E5 that can be on with wifi almost or more than 10hours ... and this phone can barely hold 5hour
What u suggest me to do ?

How long have you been using the rom? Roms take time to calibrate the battery and this is through charge/discharge cycles.
Alternatively, go into Performance settings and change the profile to powersave/conservative (it differs from rom to rom). Lock the min CPU frequency to 200mHz- apparently this helps.
Again, this would change depending on your kernel.
And if you have a three year old battery like mine, best not to expect miracles...

Now i've formated everything and will put a stock 2.3 and see in a couple of days the perfomance ... if gets better, I put the saurom 2.3.6 and be with it, cuz 2.3.6 on brazilian model allow to use digital tv, and 2.3 everyone says is economic.
I'll get this updated if my situation changes, if not, will buy a new battery
Thanks for all your help
Note: How long your batt last ? With high\low usage
In the year I've owned Xperia TL (LT30at), I've never been able to get a full day of use (12-14 hours) on one charge except for one week when I had to turn off the data connection (ran out of data allowance). I keep Stamina on at all times but BBS reports at least 3%/hr drain overnight. When the screen is on, the drain increases to 40-50%/hr and that's mostly on auto-brightness, which is minimal indoors.
At the same time, I see posts claiming that their V's are getting good 20 hours of total battery life, which includes 3-4 hours of screen time and minimal drain during inactivity. I understand that the V has a slightly smaller screen and 3G radio, but I can't fathom how that could account for such a difference in performance.
Can someone explain what differences I'm missing?
First things first. Have you compared your XTL's battery life with other XTL users? Or just maybe there are rogue apps sucking every bit of your phone's juice. Check with BBS or Gsam Battery Stats. And again, different people use their phones differently

Interesting. With my TL (lt30a Bell unit though - not AT&T unit), I would get a full day out of the battery, whether I was on stock PL 141 (JB), or the stock AT&T rom (which I think was also JB). Only thing I did on either rom was root/CWM/remove bloat apps manually.

BBS always says the biggest resource hog is bam_dmux_wakelock, which I think is related to wi-fi based location because it disappears when I turn off location. Overall, No. 1 and 2 battery suckers are Android System and Screen.

That 3-4% drain in standby has always been there regardless of the ROM. I recently tried a stock-based 4.3 ROM that was draining 10% in standby - that was clearly fixed by another one.

My standby drain with Stamina is about 3.5-4%/hour. Is that normal? Compared to the screenshots of XV I've seen around here, it doesn't seem right. On top of that, Stamina app keeps on telling that the phone should last for about 15 hours or 24 hours on standby.

As said before, that also depends on what apps you have installed, and how you've configured Stamina mode, but your bigger problem is your screen on time, 1 hour is nothing. So you should try to reflash the rom. But before you do that you could ckeck the battery, you can find out about your battery health at the service menu

LTE: On (of course, but mostly auto switches to the wifi)
NFC/GPS/WIFI: On
Bluetooth: On twice a day (when I use NFC smart tag in the car)
Brightness: Always Auto
Google account (sync always on)
Exchange account (for work emails, always on push)
WhatsApp and BBM accounts
I don't have any old screenshots of my batt. usage, but this was a usual day for my TL:
Unplug from charger at 8:30 a.m.
Glance at work email
Go to car, NFC tag to turn off wifi and turn on Bluetooth
30 mins later, NFC tag to turn ON wifi/turn off Bluetooth
Moderate use throughout the day: occasional whatsapp, bbm, texts. Work email if I'm not at desk, imgur 5 mins, instagram 5 mins, xda premium app for 5 mins (a couple of times a day).
Go to car, NFC tag to turn off wifi and turn on Bluetooth
30 mins later, NFC tag to turn ON wifi/turn off Bluetooth
At home, battery is likely at 55%. Nothing but occasional whatsapp/bbm/texts usually for the evening. By 11:30 p.m. it's pretty well dead at 15%.

Yes. Precisely. I don't understand how nearly identically hardware (the biggest 2 differences being LTE radio & slightly larger screen in XTL) result in half the running time off the same battery.

Is the V battery life sufficient for you guys? I've always thought it's a little bit of a stretch if I used it even moderately - I use my V as a hotspot for my Galaxy Note 8 most of the day, and it can barely survive until the afternoon.
That's one of the reason I have been debating getting a Galaxy Note 3 for the extended battery life.
Gentleman, currently im having a big issue with my S3 Mini.
Some weeks ago, the battery started draining in a really short lapse of time. We are talking of aprox. 12 hourse of low usage (one phonecall, no sms, little whatsapp mesagging, some web sufring). By checking Betterbatterystats, i can confirm that almost 11 hours, the phone screen is off (or maybe 10 hours and a half).
I dont know what to do, i turned on airplane mode, and the problem persits. Changed rom 3 times (4.1.2 to 4.4, to 4.1.2 again), wiped data, cache, system, internal memory, etc..
Betterbatterystats screenshots are ATTACHED TO THE POST!!, to see if you cand find a wakelock, alarm, or something that can be interfering the battery life. (btw, i ruled out that theory since i changed rom and wiped everything so many times, but maybe there is something attached indefinetlely to the phone, really dont know).
The battery itself is the only reason in my mind right now, but the phone is only 9 months old (as well as the battery of course).
One thing that calls my attention, is that the charging time takes 2 hours max, maybe 1 hour and a half. Can the battery be damaged with so little lifetime?
Appreciate your help!!!

i can most certainly say that it's the battery, but don't run out buying a new one, yet. Wait 'till someone else confirms it
i had the same problem half a year ago (mine was also 8-9 months old back then). The phone started rebooting and many weird stuff happened I changed the battery and everything was ok. Now it's acting up again and i might change battery again.

Turn off wifi and reboot that helps sometimes . On the first Screenshot was your wifi always on. On the last Screenshot was your Android OS on the first place. That was the 1GHz bug.
facebook updates
Don't have facebook app (only messenger), and without messenger app, the battery keeps draining.
I red on the internet that the 1ghz bug tends to appear on Cyanogenmod. Only had cyanogenmod 11 for some days, turned back again to the stock rom.
Could this bug affect my phone right now? How can i fix it?
If not, im really thinking of buying a new battery, but the risk of another problem affecting the battery usage from the phone keeps turning me back!
Thanks!!

if you didn't do a full wipe before moving back to stock maybe it could cause an issue

Its only 10 months old.

The battery don't seems to be neither round or thicker, and it don't spins freely.
Have you tried 'telling' the battery how much capacity it has again? (Drain until it automatically shuts down due to flat battery, charge back to 100% while off, switch on, drain again, charge again and use as normal)
Many manufacturers recommend charging when you reach 15-20% during normal use.
Also, have a look at govenors/schedulers if you have a custom ROM installed. Maybe changing combo works better for you, or even changing combo and switching back.

after i flashed a new rom, i always use this app to calibrate my battery chargement.

It will be better for you, if you read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1460553 and don't use such apps

It won't harm your device. Would you mind sharing from where you're getting a 2000mah battery and if it's the same size as the 1500mah one from Samsung?
I'm currently on a 1700mah battery for the Galaxy Ace II

Im from Kenya but the battery is available on Ebay. I saw 2450 mah batteries that come with a case so I guess they are bigger. Battery is a huge issue for me. I only get 4hrs maximum on 3g on my current battery and is so fruatrating. How long does the Ace 2 battery last?
