boatloader and kernel question - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

hey guys, as I was just doing some reading I found something I don't understand.
I've read that when in service menu is said: boatloader unlock allowed: yes, your boatloader is unlocked.
I'm trying to figure out why it's unlocked because I wanted to keep it locked for possible warranty issues.
it's cool to have the possibility to use custom kernels but the phone is just a few days old..
my question about kernel, how do I know I have kernel .140? phone info doesn't use these numbers at kernel information.. it says 3.4.0
Verstuurd van mijn LT30p met Tapatalk

If it says, bootloader unlock allowed:yes it means your bootloader is unlockable not unlocked, so your warranty is still valid.
As for the kernel the .489, .492 and .140 are all the kernels that go with those respective firmwares and are all branches of the 3.4.0 linux kernel.
FYI I have the .140 kernel and if under kernel version it says it was built on 19th march then you also have the .140. If it is earlier than it'll likely be an older kernel

aah great, just what i wanted to hear..
my kernel is indeed build on 19 march.

Locked bl - cm,aokp,pa,miui

I've been using motorola defy before I bought my xz. The whole world knows about motorola and their bootloader policies. They arent customer friendly and now google has upper hand over motorola. The 2010 motorola devices like moto defy which I was using before is stuck with a locked bl. With the locked bootloader, we used 2ndboot, 2nd init and stuffs which exactly made us use custom kernels
Custom kernels with locked bls!!
So I feel its possible to use all the non stock roms with locked bl.
Link of cm10.2 for moto defy which uses 2nd init, 2nd boot with custom kernels
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2385250
Any comments?

Just read the stickies. This is nothing like the Defy in terms of the bootloader regime.

There is nothing in the stickies about the discussion in this thread and defy has a locked bl, people are using cm,aokp on it.

Nope, unfortunately all carrier branded Xperias 2012 onwards are permanently bootloader locked. I'm not very familiar with the method you mentioned but I think I've heard of it before, sounds like kexec. To answer your questions, none of the devs here are willing to invest the amount of time it would take to be able to get a system like that working because they all have unlock-able devices as it is so they have no need for it
In short, as it stands non-unlockable bootloader, no custom kernel, no CM, AOKP, PA, MIUI. Sorry
I remember they unlocked the bootloader of the Xperia X10 backnin the day. I remember it was not that safe. One wrong flash and you could hard brick your device (did you brick your Defy that way). Unlike current official unlocking methods, today is very very hard to brick a device.

Its tuff to brick defy cos it has locked bl. Moto devices had efuse command on the bl that anyone tries to unlock it, hack it, mess with it or somethin, you hard brick it! And defy has fastboot locked or devs there are in a great doubt whether if its even there in that device.. the bl is very very strong.non unlockable...

There used to be 2nd boot , from there we can choose the boot methods like 2nd boot or 2nd init, and one thing..those devs are one rockin devs. Quarx and epsylon..they ve gone from eclair (2.1) to jb (4.3) !!. Patched hundreds in linux kernels and stuffs so that they can make it work..

All bootloader lock/unlock status with Xperia Z is tied up with TA partition. Any attempt to mess with it results in a hard-brick. Sorry guys

T-Mobile XZ is locked bootloader so u cannot unlock it.
cause in standard method of xperia unlocking u should get unlocking code from sony but they won't send it to C6606

I have already a custom recovery (I think its like in OMAP devices like Moto Dx2 or Razr XT910-912), so my question is if I can flash customs roms and if every rom on developers section is compatible...
So u can first flash custom boot loader and then try custom kernel and rom
But it s better to ask rom developer that u wanna install it

What?
1. There is no such thing as a "custom boot loader" for the Z.
2. Custom kernels will not run on a locked bootloader. Flashing one via recovery will soft brick the device.
To answer the original question, you should be able to flash any stock based custom rom on the C6606. I'm not sure on how it will affect LTE, but I've seen quite a few people around the forums using custom roms on the C6606.

Odd way to unlock bell xperia z or t-mobile xperia z bootloader?

Hey guys,
I own both the bell version of the xperia z, and the T-Mobile version. I ONLY want to use them as glorified tablets. Basically like the Ipod touch version of the iPhone, I want to use them unactivated. For me, its all about customibility and I really want to unlock the bootloader. I know neither of these can be unlocked, but in theory, if i wrote the software of the global unlockable versions (c6602/c6603) which DO allow for unlocked bootloader, would I be able to do it? I know signal would be screwy with the radios, but i dont care since thats irrelevant to me. Any help would be great, thanks guys.

Short answer: Never going to happen.
So its impossible to write c6602/3 software to it? Longer answer would be nice : P

Sorry, you can't unlock the bootloader if a device says: "bootloader unlock allowed: no" which is if you have a branded device. If you try it, you'd better throw it away.
If u can root everything is possible. As long as there's someone who provide geeky solutions
And under your situation u don't need flash different rom as there's a way to install recovery without unlocked bootloader in rooted phone.

hey, thanks a ton for the responses guys! So, is there ANY possible way I can get cyanogenmod installed on either my c6616 or c6606? (Bell and t-mobile)w
I don't have your phones so I cannot guaranty but you can try my method.
I got a c6603 from vodafone, and use ota to update to 4.3.
Since the 4.3 cannot root and I dont want unlock bl. so I use these steps
1. downgrade phone by flashtool to a version which can be rooted.
2. root
3. install recovery in locked BL:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...cked-bootloader-cwm-recovery-6-0-2-8-t2187363
4. Choose whatever rom you like and flash it.
DONE!
You cannot use custom kernels on a locked bootloader, so you cannot run CM, PA, AOSP etc.
Stock based roms only. There's no way around it.

Awesome tips guys! Got recovery working and its all good- just ONE last thing:
are there any vanilla style roms out there like cyanogen that are stock based? I just want my pure android with some nice customizable features, no kernel updates or anything. Can you suggest any?

Hello Legends!

I recently bought "Sony Z1 C6903 Unlocked International Vesion LTE" with Android 4.3 JB. but I willing to Root My phone and Read many articles about it but I am in still confusion; what should i Do "ROOT first and unlocked boot loader --or-- Unlocked Boot-loader first and root?"
Also Planning to upgrade to 4.4 KitKat. so, which will be the better to Root 4.3 JB --or-- 4.4 KitKat ?
Hoping you guys will help me on this matter :fingers-crossed:

Actually, I wanted to Flash Custom ROM on my Device but many article says: "Unlocking the boot loader allows you to put custom ROMs on your device" It is true ?
Regards,
Clasher_RS
It depends if the custom rom needs a custom kernel, some do, some don't
But in general, if you find the custom rom in the development section you only need root and not an unlocked bootloader, but if it is in the original development section then you need an unlocked bootloader as that rom requires a custom kernel.

using sony official unlock method is always good.
for LB roms, you can try eXistenZ, PureX Z, or XROM. This roms is LP 5.1.1.
There are some MM rom for locked bootloader too somewhere in this forum but I never try them.
if youre tryin to unlock bl with flashtool you may hv problems, try https://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/
