Hello guys!
I have a serious problem. Yesterday i've tried to update my Xperia Z to the latest software (253) and, well, it didn't go to well. After reboot i got the tools icon ( http://i.imgur.com/GFRr8Cj.jpg?2 ) and i had to leave the phone on for the night to finish this. After all of this i ran the SUS thingy, which means that i am right now back to stock. It wouldn't be a problem, as i have a backup, but turns out that my contacts and last calls registry doesn't want to come back from this backup. Anyone else had this problem and solved it? Would really appriciate any help.

With Sonys update tool. Not the pc companion I am talking about the update tool. If u need it PM me I will sent it to u.

It's called sony update service and it's available on every sony mobile site.

Hehe guys, i dont think you read what i wrote.
I already used the SUS thing, reinstalled all of the system, but now i cant bring back my contacts from the backups ive created before. I have all the messages, app settings, but no contacs, and i don't know why. :|

Normally Ur contacts are backup to Ur Google account.

Yea, thats true, but to be honest, i had this option turned off so restoring my contacts from my backup is the only option for me. :|
Go back to the previous rom you where using and try to restore your contacts.

I hope u get Ur contacts back but u learned Ur lesson next time use the Google account contact backup then u wouldn't have the issue.

Only problem is that for Xperia Z you have to use "com.sonyericsson.android.socialphonebook" catalog instead of "com.sonyericsson.android.contactsimport".

Had a similar problem when I was stuffing around with things, what I did was installed TFT with flash tool straight over top, unticking the three boxes under wipe. And then no data/settings were lost

Well I wanted to try a rom so I flashed it with xRecovery the way it said to flash it on the main page for it and now my phone hangs on the sony ericssson screen and wont go to cwm or xrecovery. Anyone have any suggestions? Any help is greatly appreciated

i cant use update service cause im using a sony ericsson tm506 to tether
and it tries to update it instead of my x8.
Man I had the same problem once when I installed srom v2 long time back... well I wasn't able to figure any way out and the last thing I could do was flash stock x8 ROM ftf file using flashtool.. maybe you could try the same if you can go into flash mode..

Well I tried everything, even tapping the screen. I ended up having to go to a friends house and borrow his internet to use SEUS to repair. Ahh back to stock. Oh well, Jus gives me an excuse to try a new rom.

When this happens try to press all keys menu/home/back but am pretty sure that its the menu key, this will take you to xrecovery instead of back weired huh, dunno why is this but it happen to me twice 1st time i got freak out and ended taking phone to CS it had warranty, but then i didn't wanted stock rom and did it again and this did the trick...

It happened to me as well when i tried to flash a ROM that should have a customer kernel and unlock bootloader (i have a stock kernel and locked bootloader, just for experimental purposes). Stock in SE logo. What i did is to flash my phone using SEUS and went back to stock rom.

Yesterday i was deleting apps from my xperia 8. I didnt knew that googletalk is app that is needed for downloading. So i deleted it. Now im stuck because i have android 2.1 and i cant even install new googletalk to my phone. And cant download directly too cause i dont have gtalkservice that is needed for downloading. hey guys!! facing a weird problem here.. a few days back I saw the call record option on Z forum & I thought I'll give it a shot on my ZL. My phone is rooted with a locked bootloader & CWM installed. While replacing the files for call record function, as soon as I pasted it in the system folders, my phone hit a reboot. I then tried the zip file instead in CWM but it reboot ed again halfway while booting... I thought maybe the feature isn't compatible and that's why it would be rebooting like this.. But now I realise that I try to update anything then the phone behaves the same. As soon as I give RW permission to ES file explorer it reboots. The worst of all, I was trying to install the .253 OTA update & even that couldn't install and I guess it's for the same reason.. Also whenever my phone boots up, it shows the that the phone is updating.. I need to rectify this.. any inputs guys? please help!!
I am indeed sorry to post it on Z forums but I had no other option as I was getting no support on this in ZL forums.. can anyone help pls?

Try rerooting, failing that flash your backup or start from scratch.

Hi I humbly ask for your help for my xperia V, Its my first time to use android and my current phones are iPhone and Blackberry and never had issues like this.
My xperia V phone is not rooted and has the updated firmware of 9.1.1A something. Hongkong Phone, Has the updated firmware from the box, so everytime I restore/factory reset, no need for updates.
My problem is my phone keeps crashing and restart like crazy 2-3 days ago. I downloaded an app named 'Root External 2 Internal SD' without even realizing my phone is not rooted because its my first time. And after that maybe the crashes started, everytime I restart, restore, my phone is just the same nothing changes. Restart after 1-5 mins and sometimes now crash when I am navigating around. In airplane mode, the phone works great and its not dying or anything, also I can use the phone as an mp3 player, camera, wifi, all good.
I just want an opinion from an expert I will post videos too, if needed.
My questions:
1. Did this app 'Root External 2 Internal SD' killed my phone because it was not rooted?
2. Do I need to root the phone to a fresh new ROM ?
3. If I dont need to root the phone(Warranty is not an issue) How do I restore it fresh from its stock Rom/Old ROM I feel I damaged it because of that application?
Any suggestion will help, please help me!!

PC companion doesnt work . I tried sony update service too and it didnt work too.

There was no error in reset and factory reset because when it finishes up until the menu then it will start crashing. Does battery affect the ROM? Battery is in discharge. Airplane works like a charm. For now I use it like an Ipod touch. Wifi works, gps, all of the other stuff works except on Phone mode.

I have the same problem on Xperia T. I found that it stops reseting with baseband version last digits 57 and just loses the connection. On every other version of baseband it resets or falls in SoD.
I have the same problem in my XV..it works like a charm when it is in Airplane mode.

fone got crashed
Recently i rooted my xperia v too...i also installed some root apps and evryting was good...once i downloaded chainfire from some site and installed it ...normally it request for reboot for installation...so wen i clicked on reboot the fone restarted the sony logo also came...but then suddenly faded awy or crashed or something and the it restarted and did the same thing again and again...can anyone please help me with this problem

Hi guys, I finally made the decision to root my z1,but first of all, I need to back it up. Problems are :
1. Sony pc companion backup is cr*p.
2. So I opted to using helium. Now, I got all settings up. Downloaded the pc counterpart of the app, downloaded the Android app from Google store, set up into debug mode. Helium requires my phone on PTP mode, which I do, but 1 second later, it comes back to MTP mode.
Did I miss anything? I tried downloading "drivers" from helium 's suggestions, but the one they have their is older than my SPCC.

I had the same problem, and I didn't find any solutions (I have Helium Premium). I ended up backing up my phone using Sonys software, just to be on the safe side. Rooting does not wipe your phone (at least not the method I used), but better safe than sorry. Unlocking on the other hand will wipe your phone!
After root, I installed Titanium and made all the backups I wanted. I also installed dual recovery (still without wiping the phone) and made a Nandroid bckup.
Titanium backup always work, use that in the future. It is worth the money, all others I have tried have been of no use

But the problem is I can't even back up properly with Sony backup, any work arounds for this?

Just forget the backup and start from a fresh start with titanium backup.. I have had same issues before...

He's right. Move all files from internal memory to the PC and then use titanium backup. It's able to back up your entire phone including the application data. Duh. It can actually backup your entire device with system apps and it's data.
