Hey I am coming from Galaxy note, but is it just me or the screen's saturation and color seem less compared to the samsung phone?
I didn't pay attention to it before installing the rom but could it be the ARHD Rom reducing it? Is there a way to increase it?
Samsung use AMOLED screen, htc use an LCD.
Is normal that your One saturation seems less...

Yea it's not that the HTC One has lower saturation, it's more that the galaxy had TOO MUCH saturation haha. Although I love amoled for that reason too.
You're fine don't worry. You'll get used to it in no time

I think LCD's color are better and natural.
Amoled's color aren't natural

Okay.. so I have my GS since one and a half years and Im a really heavy user. Compared to my mums GS (both phones were bought together) my Display looks horrible! Doesnt matter if stock or not. So can this be possible? Does a display loose its colors after heavy use?

You got to make sure that this is a hardware issue. are both phones on the same brightness level ? try to put in the maximum brightness and compare them with a same picture or wallpaper. mine is working fine for two years.

You do realise that SAMOLED stands for Super Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode. Because the pixels are organic, they have a certain lifetime and will fade out as they get older and burnt out. Using darker colours tends to preserve the life of the pixels as opposed to whites.
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for taking good shots with the HTC one.
I've seen some of the photos that can be produced by the camera in other threads, does anybody have advice on how an amateur can use the camera app well?

Is setting the contrast to +1 still recommended for v1.29 software? The sample photos I've seen look like they might not need that any more.

yes from my tests with 1.28 contrast +1 was too much anyway
i did some tests in my review
i still dont have my phone to test 1.29
ive be thinking however of trying exposure -1 and contrast +1
ofcourse sharpness -1 still stands, default sharpness is ugly
one more (a little extreme)

there was an app called a brighter note for my note 2 to make my screen a little bit birghter than the stock adjustment. is there such a apk for the note 3 or any plans of one? Please dont start flaming over making the phone brighter. i like the screen to be a bit brighter thats just me.
no one on this? someone has to know how the old brighter note app worked and transfer it to this one
It's 2 completely different software builds. It won't work.

I use Lux Dash since I think it does a better job at controlling auto brightness, but it's a paid app. You have the ability to manually adjust how much higher than 'normal' it is, e.g. always be 5% or 10% brighter than 'normal throughout the entire ambient light range.
Don't know about brighter note app but lux has been working great for me on s3, note2 and now note3.

You people keep saying brighter this and brighter that with lux, which is not the case. Lux does not give you the option to set the brightness any higher than 100%.

If that was what he was asking, then you're right. He phrased it as wanting a bit more brightness than the normal adjustment, which sounded like auto brightness. Lux will let you ramp up throughout the ambient light range faster than stock.
OP - why not contact the original developer of that app and ask whether he can add a Note 3 version? The Note 3 screen is quite a bit brighter and easier to read outdoors IMO than the Note 2 , but I do understand a desire to have a brighter screen.
So what do u think about sgs 4 , lg l2 or now nexus 5 against our one ? Which one do u prefer the most and why, do u want to change ur htc one or keep it.

I really like it, great phone. However the only reason I am considering selling it is the fact that I simply CANNOT get my WiFi hotspot to work, so it may be time to move on.
Personally I don't like the SGS4 due to Touchwiz, otherwise that's a solid little phone too. Can't really comment on the other two.
idk what to do i have offer to trade my htc one for iphone 5 neverlock it is worth it
Galaxy S4 is Samsung so it's automatically meh. The G2 would be cool if it didn't have the rear buttons and the Nexus 5 will be a great device. I still however think that the HTC One is the best phone on the market currently. So well balanced and aside from the camera issue in low light, It's perfect.

I'm on ARHD, newest version and newest firmware and my wifi tether works fine. I use it for xbox live lol. Have you tried the built in wifi hotspot utility or are you using some 3rd party app?

- sense gives the most true added value to android
- touchwiz is ugly, and i can live with the yellows whites of the Samsung devices
- after try a GE rom, in the ONE, yes is a little more smooth, but the battery is a little worse, but the only thing that is really important is that the pure android experience is boring, far to be bad, but boring... so I dont see me with a nexus phone, but I really want to have the new N7

Thanks for the reply. Yeah it was temperamental and inconsistent even when I was on ARHD. Perhaps it is a hardware issue, which is no good for me at all. Using the stock HTC Hotspot.

I've recently noticed that my phone gets hot when I jack up the brightness. I'm used to running full brightness on my S4 and it never got hot. Is this a One thing or just mine?

It depends on what you do on the phone. Maximum brightness always heats up the phone. It's more noticeable on the One because the metal body of the one conducts heat more than the s4 plastic
htc one is known for its heating, maybe it is the metal cover, maybe some FW issue, dont know
but i have the same experience when aroma installer is on full brightness but cannot imagine to use full brightness for everyday use...must drain your battery

When its on auto it go full brightness and doesn't heat up. Only when forced into full brightness.

Galaxy S affected too
I do get the effect on my Galaxy S GT-I9000 too. It is pretty normal so I would usually set it to minimum brightness (though it won't solve your problem if you like a bright screen).
My Device does not get hot until I flashed Cyanogenmod 11 but I don't think screen brightness is a problem if I love my ROM.
