Hi. My Note turned off at night with no battery. when i turned it on, i lost lots of files on the SD and the OS mounts the sd card and immediatly unmounts it....
i have all my files there..
anyone know what the problem is?
thanks
How old is your battery? Did you try with another and charged one?
You can access your files with adb from your PC and your device in recovery. But first you should check the old or buy a new battery.

thanks for your reply.
the battery should be 3 years old.
i didnt try another battery. but the phone can get charged and its on. the problem is that it shos a system notification sayng that it is mounting the micro sd card and then righ after saying its unmounting it.
the only way i can acess some of the files is putting it on an SD adapter and put it on my laptop. but tons of data just disappeared from the card...
on the other hand, i put it on a Note II and it can mount the card but i can only see the files I also see on my pc....
my life is on that sd card
So you are talking about your external sd card.
You can try to restore deleted files on the card with tools on Windows.
Or try "diskdigger" on your device (I restored deleted pictures on my my sd card).
But I think the last one won't help if your card isn't mounted at all.

Does anyone know why Android would see the sd card as damaged and the card be fine?
Like I turnoff usb storage and then it will not use the card but if I reboot into recovery I can mount it and copy files fine as well as put it in a card reader and it is fine there too?
Any ideas on how to fix this without a complete format?
Happened to me too once. Everything looked fine even in recovery. My pc could recognize files when I mounted and everything. But in phone it said damaged SD card.
I copied all files to pc, reformatted and all is well...
since there is no damage to the card there has to be another way to do it though. That is what I am saying.

Not sure how much your card worth for you but if I where you I would take the 5 minute and remove the card backup and format it...
Flash can easily get corrupted it usually happen when you move the card from one device to another without proper stopping and even for no reason at all!
Can you explain me why you think the card is good if the hardware tell otherwise ???
The first time I rebooted my Nexus One it told me the card was unreadable and offered to format it. Since there's no way (I can see?) to remove the card without removing the battery, I rebooted the phone, put it in my laptop, ran a filesystem check, no problems. Put it back in the phone and booted, haven't seen the problem since.

Because my computer has no problems with card at all. Data can be moved around and read just fine. Just the phone thinks there is a problem. I am guess that something is telling android there is a problem when no other device sees it. That is why I believe the card is fine.
Same problem here, let me know if you've found a solution
i've had that same problem. just fully formatted it..16GB card.
Hi
until last night whenever I plugged in the O2X to my PC I got 2 different partitions up for the SD card.
today only one SD partition shows up. the other partition, that I used to save music etc. does not.
Android can read it as I can still access my music. But on my PC I cant get it to show up anylonger.
Would anyone know why?
SD card
I have a mostly similiar problem. Today a connect my P990 to PC via USB and it cant mount my SD card. I tried everything and I figured out that the problem isnt in my PC but in phone is something wrong... Normally the android is mount sd card and it works fine just, when I plug phone to pc via usb is cant load sd card, its mount only internal memory. I really disapointed and I dont know whats wrong :/ sorry for my bad english.
problem solved:
just had to remove the card and re-insert it.
sorry for that easy fix, im kinda new and didnt think of it first.
my internal sd shows 5.5GB

I have another query:
my internal sd shows 5.5GB is that normal? I thought 8GB was the internal storage capacity. Please enlighten!
I think I damaged my Kingston SD while I was trying to format it. Now when I put it into place it keeps saying "SD card safe to remove
You can safely remove your SD card". ;( My Galaxy is running MIUI 4.3 Help me, please! What should I do ?
When I inserted my SD with to my laptop none of the files were deleted nor the card was formated.I used Panasonic SD program to format but there is the same notification showing only when I insert the card in the phone.

Insert the card, ignore any messages and reboot the phone.
Once the phone comes back up, go to Settings > Storage and see if you can Mount the external SD card.
That worked for me when I got similar messages after swapping cards.
That didn`t work out. I get the same notification.Other ideas ?
I just made hard reset ... still the same problem
btw I noticed something weird in PC/Sync Setting / Default connection type there are two options *Charge only or *Mount SD card??!!! what does this means
What partition is your sdcard after you format it? It still fat32?
Hmm... if it still maybe that is MIUI bug
hm yes it is Fat32 but other strange thing I just saw from the card reader - there is a LOST.DIR folder created with nothing inside ...what does it mean ?

The LOST.DIR directory is normal, it is where corrupted files get dumped. If the Directory is empty that is just fine.
Have you tried inserting a different MicroSD card?
I`m going to try one later today .
====
mmm No that doesn`t work either.
I`m suppose downgrade to original firmware should do the trick === I hope so
JOB DONE pheu downgraded to 2.2.1 froyo the job went smoothly .I assume it is not a hardware fault just the MIUI is having this kind of a bug .
Thanks for you all that tried to help

If you don't find other solution, put the card in an adaptor and just copy them to the PC.
Have you by chance deleted a folder called external SD from your memory card, coz it formats your sd card. Try recovering files from sd card through connecting it via some other usb card reader.
there are programs, that can save the photos even if you format a disk or in this case a sd card...
let me find one for you,,,, don't know if it works...read in here...
http://www.easeus.com/resource/sd-card-format-recovery.htm.
of course there must be other programs better and free, I really don't know if this easeus is of any good...
never tried...
you must have a sd card reader in your pc of course...
thx guys
i tried to use other adapter and i find no change as i still can not found the sd card via pc.
i sure that i have not delete the file of external SD, it keep showing Blank SD on my 4x.
i am really frustrated about that...:crying:
Maybe sdcard got corrupted. Try formating the card from your phone if it gives you the option. I dont think this will be repeated.
sad..
in fact i dun care about do the sd card can function after all.
i just wonder can i get back my file:crying::crying:

may be your sd card has corrupted or it is fake, how long are you using it?
once i bought a fake 16gb card it worked good for few days and then the same situation as you are in. and i found no solution to recovery my files as it becomes strange, files are there but you can't use them anymore, can't delete them or copy them.
try using some partition manager after inserting your card into your pc and check if your card is there, and it's status.
if your card is fake, i have no solution,
if it's corrupted, it can be brought back to life by formatting or using other partition recovery tools i think.
i dun know whether it is fake or not, but i have used it for around half a year already.
i dun care whether it can come alive i just want to get back my data.
today i have send the sd card to a engineer, he said he fix it but it cost a large amount of money and i am not able to afford it.
and then he recover the sd card to the original situation.
it means that there must be a solution for it.
can anyone help:crying:
i had the same problem too. my 32GB went on and off after i dropped it from 1 meter high.
i used these two recover as much as my files as possible.

but still be prepared to not be able to recover anything at all.
Hi,
I was a little bit fast and i probably destroyed my Ext SD 64GB card.
I unpluged my phone from computer and during the card recognizing I swiched off my phone..... when I started the phone again, the card cannot be recognized anymore, so I tried already some recovery programms but I have just a list of RAW files full of different folders (zip, jpg...)
I can see my old photos well, but the rest of my programs, files, documents are in many zip files......
I cannot see my old structure of sd card....and the phone or pc still not recognizin the sd card...
Do have somebody same problem, or has a experions with that?
Thak You.
