Here have a look at this post, it says something similar, read the third reply

thanks for quick reply. well thats is a good thread about swapping usb storage with sdcard. but how about swapping Internal with usb storage(not touching sdcard?

Internal is system partition. When / if swapped system might not boot at all. I wouldn't mess with that one since it gives no room for errors - if messed up would probably end with hard brick

you can swap your internal of system, data, cache partition using mod but your kernel must have swap supported and init.d too..
for more info, look in htc subforum

Okay. But like me I partition (you could pass the tutorial?). I seen by cmw of alfs v08a, is it safe?
Last doubt: I think 128 mb low, I can choose 256 mb or is it very risky?

No. Use partition tools software. Backup before format partition you sd card and use sd card reader. 256mb swap its safe but swap no need to that high.

I downloaded MiniTool Partion
What is the order to partition (ext4, swap, fat32)? And as an asset swap?

But as the asset swap (When I write free in terminal emulator is no longer 0, i need to do anything else)?
ext2 - you like
swap- 128mb
i'm not sure ext4 working on all roms, cause in shin mod4 ext4 won't work.......when i try to install a app, phone restarting

[Q] external sdcard ext partition

I've just bought my i9000, rooted it and flashed latest CM9 nightly. I've installed some games that are big (300mb+ each) and now I am getting kinda low both on Internal Storage (500mb) and on the Usb storage (1.1GB) (moved some of these apps to the "internal sdcard"). If I buy an external sdcard 8GB Class 10 can I make an ext4 partition on it, would it be recognized in the rom so I can use that sdcard for apps only ?
Ty in advance
I think it should work with apps2sd on every phone with every cm.

[Q]Swap and app2sd

Hi!
Could You give me tutorial how to make swap and app2sd on SDE?
I think I have to make partitions. First with swap. And now one partition ext4 and there will be app2sd and my files or two partitions-first with app2sd and second with my files?
My card is 10class and 8gb
Thanks

1. FAT32 (for you own files - music, pictures etc.)
2. ext4
3. swap
create them in this order.
cwm can do that.
format sd
create partition
swap....
wait...reboot
in terminal emulator.
type
su
a2sd xdata

enjoy.

To make partitions on your SD follow these steps.
1.Make a backup of your SD.
2.Enter CWM recovery.
3.Go to advanced->Partition SD card.
Now it will ask you for sizes of A2SD and SWAP.
Set them as you want.
Its Done...
NOTEartitioning the SD will erase all the data on your SD card..
Difference between Link2SD and Apps2SD
Hi Guys,
I just wanted know the difference between Link2SD and Apps2SD.
When I used Apps2SD all my user application are moved automatically to SD Card. I don't have a choice to select the app to be moved to SD.
where in in Link 2Sd I have an option to move selectively.
more over when tried apps2sd on ICS ROM ( MiniCM9.0.4 ) it wont work. many forums says the apps2sd scripts are not supported in ICS due to changes of implementation of OS.
so which one is better ? why ?
Secondly which iotion is beeter for swap ?
Swap partition or Swap File
1. I know Swap partition allows to use even if phone is connected to PC where as swapfile will dismounted if you connect ot PC.
but if I use ReadaheadKB setting of SD card in devices section swap file will perform more faster ( as it was cached partially) vs. swap partion
( ReadAheadKB helps to perform sequential reads more faster )
even if SD card wear & tear is more with SD card. th cost for SD cards are down so drastically that one can afford the loss of SD card ( laugh: data on SD should be backed up frequently
Cheers!

[Q] How to move Apps/Games from USB Storage to SD Card

Hey XDA members, just now i install NFS Most Wanted for my SGSA which take up to 2GB. it was pretty smooth for SGSA. but then i realize that after moving the game using App2Sd, it move from Internal memory into USB Storage instead of SD Card. now my internal remain untouch at 1.21GB, but it take 2GB from the USB Storage which leave only 220mb left instead of my 16GB SD card with 8GB free space. i also detect that any app that been moved from internal memory get into USB Storage instead of my SD card. is there any way to move Apps/Games to the SD Card(not USB Storage, the 8GB/16GB that come with the phone)? maybe theres an app or manual method to move them to SD Cards.
my SGSA:
-JellyMod4.0
-CoCore E5.6.2
-CrossBreeder 3.15.13
current storage status:
internal = 1.97GB, free 1.21GB
USB Storage =3.92GB, free 220mb
SD Card = 14.62GB, free 7.32GB
you can swap usb with sdcard (then mobile memory = sdcard) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36530952&postcount=1011 or try use apps like mountstorage (some app dont work)
