I received my KF HD in late April and just got used to it. This week I began the rooting process. As a noob still, it took me a while to understand and folow the steps correctly. thanks for the tutorial! Now I have a wonderful fully useable android tablet. I am totally stoked and grateful!

I bought a G-Tablet off Woot and it does not have the Android Market. It only has gMarket (Handango) after the OTA update. I have been searching and searching these threads but all I can find are Market fixes (to get full market working). I have even tried downloading some .apk files but they don't work.
Please help.

This thread describes how to install market.
Thanks! I thought I saw that once, but couldn't find it again. This site is so huge.
The recovery goes fine, but after the last reboot, there is just no android market app that I can find. I have done it several times now.
I know the recovery took because I have to re-update TnT software ui each time.
I guess I will have do do one of the ROMs if I want android market app.

Yes, this site is huge. I could see how new comers would have a problem navigating around.
I am currently working on a viewsonic gtab for dummies website. Hopefully, I'll have enough of it to launch this weekend. It will have step by step instructions on how to do... everything for dummies. No need to spend hours searching the forums for someone making a vague mention.
Anyway, this is just a message for all dummies like myself. Stay tuned for viewsonic g tablet for dummies.

That would be awesome! I want the android market and all the Google apps that go along with it. Let us know when you are able to set that up.
So is it to my understanding that at this time, 10.2.4 KF2 people are unable to put Jelly Bean or any other regular android OS on the KF2?
I have been able to root mine, but I cannot put FireFireFire or TWRP and proceed following the intructions on the KF1 jelly bean thread.
So, anyone do this sort of thing yet, or do I need to wait until someone figures something out?

As far as I understand it, that's pretty much it. I cannot post on dev forums so I'll spam. I had an account a year ago but hadn't been to the site for a while.
Anyways, from what I know, and I could be entirely wrong, the way the KF2 is partitioned makes getting a Recovery on it difficult. Or, that may have been for the KFHD, which, is rooted. Until I post on the dev forums I won't know for sure, but I can't actually see any real devs doing work on the KF2. If there aren't any I'll try and make a dev team myself to get some work done. I would have the team built and meeting this weekend, and from there I would ask them what they would say an ETA on a fully ROMd KF2 would be. Hopefully someone beats me to it though!

That would be absolutely amazing! I really am looking foward to having just regular android OS on my kindle instead of the Amazon stuff. Im sure a bunch of people got them for xmas and are probably thinking the same
I'd love to run Jelly Bean on my Kindle to be honest, that Amazon fork of Android is absolutely horrible.
Okay, I did manage to brick my Kindle because I used a KF1 guide by accident, and I messed up the partitioning so now it won't boot, but I have a factory cable coming in the mail.

Agreed! I won mine at a raffle at work. I went to XDA as usual for hacking but realized that, not only was the kindle underdeveloped, but there wasn't any devs working on it (from what I could see). I then realized that I never really give back to XDA. So I take my time now to help on forums how I can. I couldn't do much of the dev work, but I have the devices, money, and the time to dedicated to the forums, and I know three people that can develop. One agreed to look at the kindle and android but hasn't developed for it yet. The prominent developer I have in mind I plan to meet and talk with this weekend and see how he feels about joining the project. Either way I should have more info this weekend to post!

I remember seeing you on another thread! Yeah, I can't understand how they came up with the OS design. It's ugly and awful in every way. What cracks me up is the "silk" browser and how un-silky it is. One of the most lag filled browsers I've seen and chrome has been SOOO much smoother!
As a side note. My philosophy for ROMs has always been simplicity and ability to change what you want. Granted, I won't be writing the OS but I hope to incorporate that into whatever we make.
Hey Guys,
i just got a a Kindle Fire HD 7 2013 and was looking around here for roms etc.
I allready found the root thread thats nice. But as I see nobody is working on this device? I am now sure i ready thw whole Forum and didnt found any interessting thing about it. There was one post a few time ago that someone (i dont find the thread) said that Hashcode is working on this device is that truth? Someone has may some infos would be nice. I really hate the FireOS and it would be cool to see may a CM for this.
I am actuelly thinking about to send it back because i dont want this FireOS with all it stuff i dont need and this special offers. If nobody is working on it i going to send in and get my money back (i got it for 70€ that why i "insta" shop it and didnt checked forum before).
One thing more it is really confusing with all this post etc. its hard to see if the post is for the Kindel Fire HD 2012 or 2013 any idea how i can better find posts for the 2013 modell? Most threads are named "Kindel Fire HD 7".
To the end sry for my bad english hope you can understand me
Greetings Abgeloust
Hey!
What we need is time.. actually there are People working on this device. No CM for now, but the plan is to get Google Play fully working (which is already on a good way) and build a rom that is AOSPish-looking.
Someday there will be a CM for this device.. its too low on price to stay unattended.
Actual Development is ongoing in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544736
Have a look at the last few sites to have an idea whats going on.

@yupkim - there was probably no response because he was asking to be spoon fed instructions. You say " I will go somewhere else to search" I literally searched the forum and guess what I found?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ki...-to-root-kindle-fire-hd-7-firmware-7-t2931436
Also, your attitude stinks!
Xda is here with copious amounts of info you can find on your own (remember the searching thing?), not to hold your hands and spoon feed ignorant folk like you who haven't bothered to probably read anything! But feel free to sod off elsewhere and search.
Well... First, thanks for commenting, including critics! My stirring the pot returned a result at least.
I meant nothing more than "I gotta go somewhere else to find what I need" With Disappointment, I might add.
Thanks for your effort to search and respond! That page/thread came up in my Google search, and I followed, to no avail. Because, the unpacked module failed to be parsed for execution. And there was no more followup. So I paused awhile with disappointment. Then decided to re-search once more before giving up. So I searched this forum with various phrases, and the only one came up and fit was that, having no reply. Well, that my track.
So can you direct me the right thread or xda Forums are geared to experts/developers and may be over my head, too?
P.S. BTW, the referred thread is for v7.4.7 and older, but mine is 7.5.1

BTW, the thread which I was aware was for 7.4.7 quotes...
Just rooted my Kindle Fire HD 7.5.1 with a Windows 10 PC using this method. Thank you!
You like the word disappointment don't you.
Guess you're back to square 1. Good luck.
What is it with not letting things go ?
squ89r97 he was asked, he gave his answer, now he is slated for answering....
I guess you can try pleasing some people, but some will always have a bone to pick.
And... bulky for you, being brave.
You know it's designed for the 7.5.1 yet you still used it in another version...good for you, pal.
Hi
I have ordered an Amazon Fire Tablet from Amazon and it should be here soon. Ideally I would like to root it and put CM12.1 on the tablet. Main reason for this is speed/KODI.
I have had a read around the forum and my head is blown! So much information to take in.
Once I get the tablet, I am planning not to connect it to the internet to stop it updating.
If anyone has purchased the tablet from Amazon recently, what version of the software are they shipped with?
Can someone please give me a high level guide of the steps to take?
Apologies for the 1000's of questions, it has been a while since I have done anything like this.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Riyaz_7
My recently ordered tablet shipped with 5.1.1.0. It had a bit of dust behind the screen so I got a replacement which came with 5.3.1.0.
Regarding steps, the general thread is good enough.

Start with forum index and CM 12.1 thread. Pay particular attention to the OP and recent posts. Plan on doing some reading as everything you need has been posted multiple times. Ask specific questions as needed (after doing preliminary homework).
