Can one just install the Sense launcher APK on AOSP and have it work? I really love AOSP functionality but Sense 5.0 design as a launcher, and BlinkFeed of course.
Suggestions, solutions, idea welcome.
Emh, it will not work...
Because launcher need also framework, com.htc.resource...
You have to choose: Sense or AOSP

That's a huge bummer. Maybe someone will eventually make it work. AOSP functionality + Sense design would be a killer combo.

Sense 5.0 currently runs off of 4.1 as you know, it has most of the same functionality and features and abilities as stock 4.1 but not all. I honestly can name many of them right now because I've only ran into a few. I know there are some missing sharing functions, zooming into pictures is weakened, and there are some others. All I am saying is that I want the full functionality and potential of stock 4.2.2, but with a Sense 5.0 launcher for looks and BlinkFeed.

Yes i know, but, htc rom have a modded framework, com.htc.resource and other function.
For have a fully sense 5 working you need the htc and resource by HTC.
So, or you will use app like aosp lockscreen or android 4.2 camera is possible...
But, for example, you can't have the aosp with the fully sense 5...
However, can you list some function that you will have?

I don't think you understand. All I care about is the launcher, not the full blown Sense 5 UI framework. Just the launcher/icons. That could be ported from the framework and then BlinkFeed might be able to be ported as well. At that point it would be two simple APK installs while running stock 4.2.2. Theoretically it should be possible.

Well obviously it is not as simple as that. I never said it would be. But developers have extracted a launcher from frameworks before. I've seen it. It will take some work but I'm sure we will eventually have it.
You know whats kinda of a cool launcher is Lightning Launcher. Im using it on my One now.
I think is for crazy dev...
However, if someone will develop this, good luck

Hey guys, I used to be on the Windows Mobile side, but now I'm on Android and I need your help.
My 2.1 Sprint Hero has just been rooted. The only reason I did this was in the hopes that I could, somehow, get the Vanilla Android UI back. However, sometimes I want the Sense UI. In short, I'd like to have my eclair and eat it too *ba dum tish*. So if there is an apk or some sort of rom that can give me that, that'd be perfect.
If there isn't, fine. I can do without the sense UI, but I need my phone to work. And by work, I mean the camera has got to preview, the GPS has to function, etc, etc...
Any tips?
I believe Fresh is Sense based and you can use LauncherPro or ADW Launcher for the "vanilla" feel and home switcher to switch between the 2

Both Red Dawn and Blue Echo are by Papa Smurf and based off of Fresh (include Sense), and they overclock, undervolt, all that jazz. They incorporare vanilla aspects side-by-side with Sense, like the contacts and dialer. And they look sweet.
If you want full AOSP, check cSrOm (Buufed). Its themed out too, and fast as hell.
Good luck!

Is there a sense 4. 0 theme out there that can be used on a Rom? I know there's a Rom and I'm trying it but its not as stable as is like.

We are actually working on something like this. Check it out if you want.
I saw that. But I thought it would be. 3.5?
It'll be Sense 3.5 but heavily themed like Sense 4.0.

the gabbana theme linked in the Xtreme Surprise rom should work on other sense 3.5 roms, I've got it working on RunnyDroid for example (along with the vertical blue battery mod)

i can install sense 4 theme in a stock rom??
Hey I was just wondering why this does not work .
Why can I not cross use different apks from different roms .
I am using Ice cold sandwich atm and the Camera application sucks on it , half the stuff doesn't work so I am forced to use a third party application.
I tried to access the app folder inside the "system.ext3.tar" which was found in one of my backup roms . ---> Created with CW MOD
I basically tried to take the working camera application and install it on my current rom but it crashes on startup, how do you actually go about doing stuff like this? What are the requirements ?
I just dont get why it does not work
I also hate the clock APK in the rom it does not have a world clock which I really need. I tried to again take the World Clock apk from another rom and it did not even install.
They were all from different icecream sandwiches but with sense 4 , the rom I am using does not have sense but I dont see how that would really affect this
Can someone explain to me how to cross use APK system files ?:good::good:
I believe you can't cross sense with aosp and aokp. If you want sense apps to work then port to a sense Rom. Your trying to put a square peg in a triangle hole.

I cannor really explain it, but I know for sure that u can't use apk-files from sense or touchwhiz and use them on AOKP ROMs. It's just not possible. Same thing for widgets...

I don't think it would be *sense*
It hasn't been taken from a HTC rom, its just a clock thats themed to look like sense
like themed
A themed AOKP rom to look like sense is not a sense rom

I see thanks for all your help guys and if anyone can explain to me the technical aspect of not being able to cross APKS due to AOSP and AOKP
I am just curious as to the limiting factor

HTC apps require HTC framework and other HTC apps in order to work
So without the other apps, just come of them won't work
Most apps from other Roms, like Sony Ericsson and miui Roms will work, I have some of them
I think just Samsung and HTC apps won't work
But Samsung apps can be hacked

Hi All,
Just recently rooted my HTC Juan M7 and just flashed Jelly Bean 4.2.2.
I was going through some of the features and I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a ZOE camera feature on Jelly Bean like offered on the stock HTC One Sense.
If there is a ZOE feature how do we access it in Jelly Bean.
If there is no ZOE. is it possible to get it?
Thanks all!
Any posts are appreciated! If you know please feel free to PM me!
Cheers!

Not sure I understand the question. Do you mean CM/AOSP or GE? If so, the answer is no, those features are Sense-specific.
Someone ported the camera to GE, but Zoe does not work. Blinkfeed is part of the Sense launcher, and AFAIK, no one has tried to pull it out. Most people wanting mods of it are looking to get rid of it.

Indeed.
But, OP, you're being vague. By 4.2.2, do you mean an AOSP ROM, Google Play edition ROM or Sense ROM? I'm assuming you mean AOSP, in which case, no. ZOE is not accessible.
ZOE is a proprietary piece of software that HTC has copyrighted, and it would be illegal to use it on an AOSP ROM. It's the same reason many devices have driver problems and why we have to flash Google apps separately from the ROM.

At the moment, ZOE features are specific to Sense 5 on the stock ROM. Maybe some people are working on it, but I honestly don't know.

Morning all,
Thanks for the replies. And ya sorry its been a while since ive posted! Shouldve posted all me specs.
Im on the HTC One
4.2.2.
[ROM][m7]Stock Android 4.2.2 Google Play Ed. - Root/Busybox/Odexed/Deodexed (7/7/13)
Stock Android 4.2.2 for HTC One M7.
I saw that there was a app called SO.HO that produces some similar effects like the Blinkfeed but its a launcher.
Anyone know of any other widgets?
And it would be quite wonderful to be able to activate the ZOE feature on the camera. It really is quite nice.
. Do you mean CM/AOSP or GE? . Not sure i quite understand either! Noobie alert!
If you are on Google play edition zoe and blink feed, etc won't work as they rely on components of the Sense 5 framework which the Play version doesn't have.

If you want Zoe and blinkfeed so bad, stay on Sense. Just my thought.
There is a way to change your lock screen to AOSP style.
You can download the AOSP clock and the GPe live wallpaper (DROID paper has the lwp). Lastly, you can use nova launcher and set the theme to stock jelly bean.
Flipboard is an alternative to Blink feed.

Does anyone know of and new Sense Roms that may contain features for the play roms?
Is it possible to have both effects from the Sense gallery 5.0 and 5.5? The camera highlights, where we can pick those themes. Both had totally different themes which liked and was wondering if there was a way to have all of them on the phone. If anyone could give some advice on if its possible or not. Thank you.
