Downgrade Atrix HD to ICS using RSD - Motorola Atrix HD

Here i have finally found the way after a long search in forums to downgrade Atrix HD using RSD.
It is simple.
Download your required firmware from here : Fastboot files
or
Mirror
Download rsd lite from here : RSD lite 5.4.4
now extract the firmware zip file and open the .xml file with notepad. here you need to do 2 things.
1) remove the two lines containing "getvar.step operation=”getvar” var=”max-download-size”
2) remove the line "<step operation="flash" partition="partition" filename="gpt_main0.bin" MD5="5EE7E4CB385C3487F97E7B0431F6B297" />"
now save the .xml file, zip it again and flash with RSD lite.:victory:

I posted a way in the general forum while back plus the Myth tools do this really easily as well. I don't think you searched the forums enough.

Neither of y'all looked around the forums.. I posted your link.

To be fair, in an age where people are looking for a one-click type solution to handle things I wanted to learn the longer way of doing something and just shared my result. Like all things computer-related, there is more than one way to skin a cat. Next someone will do a "one-click" where every process of rooting and unlocking the bootloader is automated, right down to installing the ROM and all you have to do is press Enter once the device has hit the specific state. Myth still requires you to back out and return to the menu.
Not saying one-clicks aren't handy. They are. Not saying I couldn't have searched the forums more. I could have, but I took a longer way of doing something and learned in the process. Good for me, I'll get myself a cookie.

I have been trying for a while now to get rsd to flash me back to stock but every firmware I have tried dosn't work and myth tools don't work either would this possibly do the trick? Thank you for your answers.

Thanks but I'm just curious. Why you guys want to downgrade to ICS?

HDMI mirroring works better on ICS, that's the only reason I can see so far.

you have to remove the 2 lines mentioned in the op (original post) after you download the rom make sure to extract the .xml file and do exactly as mentioned in the OP that's what i did and it worked 100% and then replace the old .xml file with the new one and let rsd lite do the rest.

after not using this phone for a couple of months this thread saved my life again thanks op

This should be in q&a/ troubleshooting or atrix HD general. This forum is for development only. The reason I say this is because I get notifications from the development forum but not the others, so I don't want to be notified by "downgrade Matrix HD to ICS" (a topic that has been covered numerous times) in the Dev forum, when that isn't news. Read before you post. Search before you post. And when you do post, put it in the right place. It keeps everything clean and everyone happy.

[Q] Rooted and installed the ICS Rom. Can I go back to Stock if necessary?

Hello. First off, I want to thank everyone for their hard work here. I have followed many tutorials and have seen many great conversations to keep noobs like me from making mistakes when trying to delve into the world of ROMs and rooting. However, I did encounter some troubles while installing the ICS rom onto my bionic (running on .902). I think I may have accidentally overwritten the stock rom backup that I made with safe strap or whatever that app is (I'm sorry, like I said, I am a complete noob). Is there a way to restore the phone to stock, as in before I even touched it, even if the backup I made during the process is gone by my mistake?
I'm sure this has been asked a million times, and if so, I apologize, but as I noob, I have no idea how to even begin to search for clues. Walkthroughs would be nice, but links are fine too, since I'm sure there are plenty of the same questions out there.
Thanks!!!

Thanks! Can that be used after the .902 update? Is it possible to do a dual-boot type deal between stock and the ICS version I have installed? I've seen mentions of dual-boot around here, but I can't get a clear grasp on whether it is possible or not, or if so, how to do it. Thank you very much!

Yeah I'm sure you can.
Get on stock .902(here).
Install SafeStrap.
Backup Stock Rom by Toggling "SafeMode"
Boot up ICS.
When you want to go to Stock .902 undo "SafeMode" and the Stock Rom should boot up on Reboot
Thanks for the answer! Hopefully I can give this a shot soon!

Don't know what I'm doing wrong here, but when I plug my phone in to my PC, the phone realizes it, but doesn't seem like the PC does. Also, when I open RSD Lite and try to load the file, it doesn't do anything after clicking "Start". Please help me try to diagnose what I may be doing wrong if you can! Thank you!

Enable Usb Debugging and Unknown Sources. Download Motohelper drivers
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk
I'm sorry I probably should be a little more specific. I have both of those enabled and I do have the Motohelper drivers installed. I am following the steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22758211#post22758211
On step 8, I do not see a file named FXZ or a file with that extension, but I figured it was the file with the name that the zip file had. I chose that file after clicking "..." and hit Start, but it doesn't do anything.
I am running the ICS version cyanogen mod 9.0.0-rc0-droid_bionic-kang build number alpha_2012_02_10
I already have SafeStrap installed (used that to get this rom on). So, looks like I'm stuck on or around step 8 from the other steps posted. Once I can get past that, I can continue with the steps posted in this thread!
Thanks!!!

SafeStrap disables ADB(that Im sure of) which will not let RSD run(im pretty sure) you have to select the xml file
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk
Yes, the XML file is the one I select. However, it will not do anything in RSD. Is there anything I can do to enable ADB in order to let RSD run?
Update: I found a way to do it. I think things are going okay so far. Looks like it is installing. If it does install successfully, I would like to do everything perfectly right going forward.
So, after this is installed, I will want to:
1. Get root access again using Motofail? I assume doing this return to stock will remove root access.
2. Install SafeStrap. Once that is done, I toggle Safemode to enabled, which will backup my stock rom and protect it from being overwritten?
3. Then, flash ICS from the zip files on my sdcard?

Sry for the confusion, i was suggesting those 2 links for the methods described in each post. I do not recommend posting in either of those threads.

Link to ATT stock JB?

Just looking for someone to point me in the right direction on the correct file to use to return to stock JB through RSD lite. I understand there's a few other posts about this but no true links, or everything is unorganized and hard to navigate through.
I'm trying to flash to stock then go through and do the JB root method. I believe its currently not working for me because I have partial root from ICS, but didn't safe strap backup so I'm stuck in a limbo. Upon reading similar situations returning to stock then trying to root worked for them.
Thanks for any help.

If i flash this rom, can have a chance to change the radio file from a hard locked AHD?

Stock Images/recovery

Hello all,
I just purchased a Moto Atrix HD and have already gotten it nice and rooted and unlocked and I'm planning on flashing a ROM very soon as well as perhaps doing some development of my own for the community. I've never done any work for Motorola devices in the past because of the locked bootloaders and how easy it is to hard-brick the device. However, since we have unlocked bootloaders, it changes things for us a lot. My question is whether a stock image which could be flashed via the bootloader/fastboot commands exists and where I could get that from if it does. Also, does anyone know of a way to boot directly to the bootloader from 'off'? That's also an important piece of information to have if I have a soft brick. I realize these are fairly selfish requests of a developer but you have to realize that I'm not made of money and while the Atrix HD isn't my main device, I'm still a college student and money doesn't seem to grow on trees I appreciate any leads that anyone can give me or information that you can provide!
Cheers!
We do have firmwares that can be flashed in fast boot. I cannot link them now, but if you Google "atrix HD sbf" it should give you each one on the first or second link. It will have some for Mex, some for ATT, and some for Bell. Get the latest one for your carrier (I believe Mex and ATT have same radio but Mex has less bloat).
And to boot directly into bootloader (fastboot), hold vol down and power.

Thanks! I found an awesome site with every sbf since the beginning of time. Now, would the best way to flash one of these images (.xml?) be through rsd lite?

You could either do that (but I recommend Myth Tools over RSD, never used RSD myself), or manually flash it because I've always had problems flashing with Myth. To install with Myth Tools, just put the *.xml.zip into the "*\Myth Tools - AHD\firmwares" folder and flash it using Myth, simple as that. To flash it manually, extract the zip anywhere (I use 7z and use the "extract to \zipfoldernamehere\" option to keep everything neat) and open the XML in notepad++ (I prefer ++ over regular notepad) and you'll see a big block of stuff in the middle with lines such as "<step operation="flash" partition="partition" filename="gpt_main0.bin" MD5="F36E6FB37E6BD0066FAF56688603DDD0" />". You'll need to start with the one posted above, don't bother with the "getvar max-download-size", run the commands as "fastboot [step operation] [partition] [filename]". Whatever is in quotes after each of the above, put that in the command so it looks like "fastboot flash partition fpt_main0.bin".
I recomend RSD Lite 6.1.

1. Install RAZRi drivers
2. Download ADB files (ADB is a comandline-tool, google how to use)
3. Connect your RAZRi to PC and check if ADB shows it as device.
4. Follow the Steps from the Link
Works maybe only on JB! (you can try it on ICS)

ok, than you have to extract the zip-Archiv (TwerkMyMoto-1.0.zip) in the ADB-Folder.
Sorry, i have missed that step...
The 3 files have to be together with the adb.exe in one folder!
good luck!
Never mind.
I used vroot to root both Razr I's without unlocking the Bootloader. Worked instantly. And then I used Dr. Fones software to search for the files, but it was gone beyond repair. So thanks for the input here, and thanks to Motorola or android whoever wasn't capable to install a recycle bin from the factory.

Most likely it isnt beyond repair. You never touched the boot or other partitions. Just flash the installed stock ROM by rsd lite. And all will be as good as new.
But why do u use vroot? Why not a working one from this device forum. And before u wine about a recycle bin left out, its not windows, linux or anything. Its your fault, read what it does. And if u don't know what u are doing, read how to repair things before even starting to use tools like this. But if I totally misunderstood you, I am sorry!

Are you friggin kidding me?
Instead of helping you are critizing me and start a personal attack by saying it's my fault!?
UNBELIEVABLE!
First off, I started a topic here weeks ago trying to get help to recover my file. Well, guess what, no help, no response!
Then I asked for help to root, cause NONE of the "working" solutions I found here worked for a locked bootloader RazrI !!!!
So now after I used Vroot, which worked instantly you come around!?
The file I tried to recover is gone. It was an audio file that meant a lot to me. Gone forever, and yes thanks for rubbing it in, yes my fault because i ACCIDENTALLY deleted it, by swiping over the file.
And yes, if a recycle bin would have been included from the factory everyone could have recovered that file in a heartbeat without making a doctor in computer systems, without rooting. Or any other modifications.
Thanks for your post, as it goes to show how bad some people are.
Sorry to hear the complete story.
But your post was only about "TwerkMyMoto". Nothing more!
If you had given us more info we could help you better.
