how to root galaxy note n7000 without raising the flash counter.

hello,i just bought a galaxy note n7000 and its amazing. i just wanted to be double sure and safe abt rooting this device. before this i had desire hd and i rooted it and also custom flashed it,but this phone is special and i surfed web and encountered sumthing strange abt this phone
everytime u flash on this phone the counter increases and displays on bootloader the no. of times u ve flashed a rom or .zip file.
so can anyone pls tell me a safe way to root this phone.
i m on android version 4.04, basebande version n7000ddlr1, build number imm76d.ddlr9

As you are on ics,you are not on a safe kernel
So as soon as you root your phone,you need to flash a safe kernel
So follow the 2nd method in the first post of the above link
By using that method,you need to flash a safe kernel(hydracore or philz are best) and you will be automatically rooted
Your flash counter increases after you flash a safe kernel and you can clear it by using "triangle away" app in playstore
This is an easy and safest method

best as u on ddlr9,look for philz kernel in the android dev section. Download the ddrl9 version. put it on ur sd card or internal storage. boot into recovery and choose install zip from sd. choose the zip file and done
u have root, safe kernel, cwm. voila!
no counter no triangle

the guide ask only to to dwnld su.zip file put in the root of ur sd card and flash.. thatz it.. cud u tell me why do i ve to flash a new kernal.. and what the f is odin.

Follow the 2nd method in the first post of the above link or follow nokiamodeln91 instructions and flash philz kernel
And if you dont even know what odin is,then better stay stock
First make some reading,know the basics,and then think of rooting

okay. i ll read some more.. i always used rom manager and cwm recovery to flash roms. is odin like rom manager.. spare my noob questions..

no odin is a flash tool used on pc to flash roms on the phone

well u said in ur previous post that if i m on ddlr9 thatz best so does this kernal version is safe. can i directly flash su.zip file or if i need any safe kernal w.r.t ddlr9 can u post its link.

just download the ddlr9 kernel from the above post and install from stock recovery.
u will get root, cwm and safe kernel. no other files required

thankz i get it.. i d be thankul if u answer this do i ve to make any backup before flashing this 7mb file.. cuz in the thread developer has asked to backup EFS files.. i wonder what are they?

yes ofcourse.. copy the efs folder to a secure location as well as use ktool from the playstore to backup efs as well.

EFS is the one that holds crucial data wifi address,bluetooth address and mainly imei number
Its safe to use ktool than just copying the efs folder

how m i supposed to baclup efs files that app u recommended requires root permissions..

oh you mean the Philz kernel?
no need to backup efs. it's required before you start flashing new rom.

Its not mandatory to backup it right now
First root your phone and then backup efs

thankz.. i m obliged with such generosity. cud u also tell me if in future i plan to revert back i.e getting on stock rom and unroting inorder to claim warranty and all that stuff. how shall i do it.. and after flashing kernel will i b able to get over the air(OTA)updates...

Simply flash the stock rom and you can claim your warranty and u will get the ota

[Q] 1/4 brick galaxy note n7000

Hello guys , i have a galaxy note n7000 , i tried to root it yesterday , every thing was good no error no bug .... nothing .... but after that , my phone shutdown automatically every 35-45 minutes ( playing angry bird or just standby ) + my speaker just stopped to work , looks like a sleep of death but i get it every 35-40 min , can anyone help me please ?? what can i do ? can i try to install an official rom on it ?? im rly ( sad , mad ,afraid , ..... ) :crying:

not mentioned what method you used to root the note. did you uninstall any apps after rooting?
you can try installing the official ROM back using PC odin by putting the phone in download mode. firmware can me downloaded from samfirmware.com or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997 .. It has a guide too on how to use Odin
Make sure not to wipe while on Stock ICS kernels

thanks for this fast reply , well i really dont know what method used for root , i gave it to my cousin who is more experienced than me , i'm a new android-user, ---> noob , is there any risk of hard brick or soft brick , if i restore the original rom by odin ???

flashing using Odin is perfectly safe. But the risk is when you try to wipe using stock ICS kernel. although, your problem i think will be resolved by just flashign the rom. go go ahead and let us know.

Downgrade from JB to ICS

Hello All
Yesterday I flashed my galaxy note to JB update from this site
/how-to-update-galaxy-note-n7000-to-412_6.html add viotutorials.com
but today the phone won't boot and I have to flash it again to JB
So I downloaded this ROM N7000JPLR8_N7000OJPLR8_XSG
So is there any way to get back to this ROM ? even if coast me the data because I already back up my important data

since u're now 4.1.2 , if u still can turn on ur phone normally.
u can install a Mobile odin n flash back to the previous version or if u have a previous backup using CWMR then just restore it.

first u need to install Mobile odin
so now r u in safe kernal ? i mean >PhilZ-cwm6
if yes enter to ur recovery "PhilZ-cwm6" n do a backup in case something went wrong when flashing roms.
after backup reboot system open ur Mobile odin n look for the downloaded firmware u mentioned.
u can flash it wif root or without root. if unsuccessful just go to recovery press restore n u'll back to 4.1.2

I flash it to original Android 4.1.2 from Samsung not any other type
So I need a way to flash my phone to ISC 4.0.4 which I already download it from here
can you give me a procedure to do so ?

i thought u say flash ur 4.1.2 from here ？
i only can suggest u to use safe kernal CWMR recovery to do a backup
n the easiest way to flash back Without binary count u just need a Mobile odin that's all

yes u can if u can manage.
for me i don't use pc odin incase flashing in progress break down.
is up to u to decide becuz is ur phone not mine...
flash it at ur own risk！

I've tried odin on PC and install ICS 4.0.4 and successfully installed but when reboot the Samsung logo keep flashing
any idea to help me ?

if u flash successful then just wait for ur phone to start up.if ur ics is a pure stock rom u can do a factory reset at ur own risk.
not familiar to pc odin can't help much.

that's mean something wrong ！is ur 4.0.4 pure stock rom ？
factory reset u need to enter recovery mode.
or u need to flash it again.

Can someone please help a newbie with sort out this mess

Thought i'd root my galaxy s and upgrade to a custom rom .I was on gingerbread 2.3.6 and flashed to xbean all installed well but i was having issues with media draining my battery rapidly and could not sort it so i thought i'd flash back with odin to gingerbread.It said it passed but it was just in a loop . I tried to do it again but same result. Did delete some files in recovery but there are some red failed words when it goes to system recovery (3e).
When i press the 3 button to get it to download mode i kept getting system recovery <3e> and could not get the download mode..But after removing battery etc i managed to get the download mode with the yellow triangle saying "downloading do not turn off target ".
Tried to get phone to show in odin but no joy..Can anyone help to get the phone working again.
Wish i'd never flashed in first place as my battery was ok in stock version. Could someone give me a step by step guide how to get the phone working again.

and every stock firmware come with 3e recovery n neef to flash cf root thru odin to regain root n busybox
n juz change usb port in pc to regain da availability on odin

Hi the fone is samsung galaxy s i9000 (i am from uk) i was using odin 1.85 version ..i cannot access any fone settings only download mode ,i am not too sure what you are saying regarding build number etc as i cannot get the info and cannot remember it lol. ..like i say i was on stock gingerbread 2.3.6 then upgraded to xbean 3.0 then tried to go back to stock .Could you please give me a walk through as i am not that savvy ..I got the flash right and phone was working apart from battery drain so went back and messed it up.

if upgrading to 4.2.2, flash 4.0 first (triple times, bootloop will occur), then flash ur chosen 4.2 ROM (twice or triple flash, error or bootloop will occur) without leaving recovery after flashing 4.0
bootloop common on upgrading process, juz use 3 combo button to go back, link given to change to jvu, as i dont find ur cf root. n 4.0 can be download on cyanogenmod website by searching sgs fone or galaxymtd, juz download da stable cm9.

well so what do i do , i need a cf to my build number but i cant find one how can i root now ?
can some one else who knows the answer can help me find the cf-root that will match my device ?

well i read a bit that if i gonna move to another rom so i dont need something that match my build maybe
because after i root i just go flash SuperNexus 2.0 ROM 4.2.2
so some one can tell me what to do
what cf-root i need to flash and after flashing kernel i need flash any rom to move to 4.2.2 supernexus or just flash it imedetly

here list of cf root, n indeed u dont need to change firmware for upgrading but IF u can identify ur cf root suitable, wrong chosen cf will cause bootloop until u find ur own cf root suitable for ur build number n bootloop will cease. well, juz read carefully

Just download unlock root, then activate USB debugging (found in applications-developer settings)and then plug your phone in, run the program. Unlock root should detect your phone. Now you press the button named root and volia! Within less than a minute, the phone will be rooted! (Installing unlock root will take time, just keep pressing skip then it'll be alright.
